Mini Fall Décor Haul

Hello!

I love to decorate, as many of you know, and one of my favorite seasons is fall. When I was younger, I only adored it because that signaled to me that my birthday was quickly approaching, but now I have various reasons why I love about it.

On Instagram, I follow two accounts that post about everything autumnal and Halloween, and once September starts, the instantly see their content constantly and it’s eerie how quickly I become jealous because most of the time, they are sharing the ALL of the new stuff in stores. By week two, I could have saved up to like 10 items that I’ve found and possible want if it’s not too expensive!

Well, my parents agreed to give me $100 to spend last month, I could spend it on anything I wanted and I went back on Wal-Mart’s website for the third time to search for autumnal pieces for my room; and without the paint for our pumpkins and Command strips (even though those are vital for hanging things up!) I still come back under my original budget, which is really good because like I told my mom it could’ve been much worse!

THE PUMPKIN WREATH – $9.98

This was honestly one of the first things I saw back in early August that I instantly fell in love with, because it has everything I love about this time of the year: pumpkins, the colors orange and red, and sunflowers!

The wreath itself is very unique, because instead of being in a circle shape, it is designed to be like a pumpkin. It looks like it was made with sticks but my mom pointed out to me that it is actually metal! In the middle it has different fake foliage, berries and sunflowers in a series of fall colors. It is honestly so pretty and I like the fact that it isn’t your everyday fall wreath either.

It was hard to figure out where to place this, because I have a section of my wall for seasonal wreaths, blame it on my mom, because she brought home this cute and neon colored sunflower wreath and I thought it was cute and summer-y, thus starting me on this “tower of seasons” thing now.

However, once the hooks came in, I just ended up making my decision by having it hang on the front of my bedroom door. My mom and I actually love the placement. It gives our guests this little nod to fall.

AUTUMN SKULL SHIRT – $16.99

So, for the next item that came in, it drove us a little nuts because when my dad said I received another package in the mail, he said it was “pants” and I knew I didn’t order any pants. I was thinking about it but couldn’t find anything that I liked so I kept thinking on what it could be, and then I remembered my list and I thought dad had misread the text and instead of “pants” it could be “paints”? Well, after we got into a little argument about it, he opened it up and found out we were all wrong and it ended up being my shirt.

I was torn between this one and another I found, but the image on the website looked like it was glittery and I do not deal well with certain textures on my hands and this realization was the result to the conflict. This top is in a darker grey, and has the outline of an adult size skull in black on the right side whereas the left has green, yellow and orange colored leaves and a large sunflower in the eye socket.

I may not listen to heavy metal as much anymore, but I still enjoy my skulls and spikes hardcore, so when this popped up, I couldn’t say no to it. Hell, my parents wouldn’t been able to deny it either! I mean, if you are close to me, you would automatically say “this screams Meghan!”. So, I purchased it and my dad did say it is badass.

STACKED PLAID PUMPKINS – $16.99

For this next one, I was really unsure about it. I absolutely loved them to pieces, and the fact you got two for the price, I thought it was too mean to not get it but I didn’t know if I enjoyed the plaid part so much. These pumpkins came in both black and orange, and for a good thirty minutes I was going for the black and white ones. I thought they would fit better with the rest of my black stuff but honestly the orange just seemed more practical for me.

They are so adorable! When my mom brought them into my room, they were wrapped in a mesh case that looked easy to take apart, – I don’t do this because I can’t get my toes around a pair of scissors! Anyways, the pumpkins are stacked together with each one in a different size, overall it is medium and could fit anywhere you chose to put it, whether it’s on your porch or in a corner of a room.

MOON PHASE GARLAND – $20.94

As I mentioned at the top, I had two items that really inspired me to decorate my room for the season. I have always been interested in our planet system, my favorites are: Earth (of course!), Moon, Jupiter, and sorry to anyone who says Pluto is a dwarf moon, but I still adore Pluto. Anyways, the Moon has a lot of meaning for me. If I am outside at night, I instantly want to find the moon. I love to look for it during the day and night, and I am one of those people that will stop doing something and point with my big toe and say “there’s the moon!” So, with that being said, I want it even closer to me and make it part of my autumnal bedroom.

They have this banner or garland in two different colors on Walmart’s website: gold and silver! I haven’t been the biggest lover of gold anything, but since my walls are basically grayish, it wouldn’t look right in the silver. I just didn’t think it would shine as well, so I went for the gold instead and honestly, it can be a fall time color or at least that’s what I keept telling myself!

One little warning for everyone reading this post, since my mom and I had so many issues dealing with this, it might be easier doing everything DIY! The fact that we had no instructions, three pieces had some kind of red marking on the gold side, the clip to hook it to the top and pendent were hard as a rock, and half of the phases will not turn over to the gold (and because of that, I now have to paint them all!) that my dad literally hollered out to mom in the mist of this, “next time you are inspecting the list!” but honestly I don’t think they would have helped us in the end! Click here to find the video that seemed a lot more easier and cheaper compared the hassle we endured.

AUTUMN LEAVES BLANKET – $21.99

So, this is the final thing I got because let’s be honest, you can NEVER have enough blankets, right?! The really awesome part about it though is that, it arrived on the first day of fall too!

I have six blankets on my bed, four of which actually serve a purpose for me, but all but two are Christmas themed. Yes, this was my reason for wanting to get this blanket! To be honest though, my Transformers blanket is getting old, and feels really worn at times so it’s time to retire it.
For this blanket, it is fleece, which is like my favorite thing in the world! They keep me warm and I tend to use them to help ease my elbows–if I don’t have one underneath my elbows and lay on one side for too long, the skin on my elbows can break and according to my mom, it is a space that is really difficult to heal! The blanket is a light beige colored with a lot of varied reds, orange, brown, and yellow leaves scattered around the entire sheet.

WHITE CORD LIGHTS – $11.98

Last Christmas, my mom got me a box of “white” lights to wrap around my tree, but unfortunately the tree itself was way too small for them so we improvised and put them around my window and it just looked gorgeous surrounded by the tulle sunflower curtain that you instantly feel so much joy about what it brings to such a small space.

In the span of late November to mid-April 2020. we used up the lights a lot and I say “we” because I know for a fact that other people in my family enjoyed them just as much as I do. We did try to purchase another set of lights, but everytime we went to plug them into the sockets, they were blink like crazy and I didn’t like it and neither did my mom, especially since I tend to leave them on all night, I knew if we kept these on like usual I would be more paranoid than I already am at night. So, within an hour and a half after my parents put them around my window, I said nope and that was the end of that conversation.

Thankfully, my mom went to Dollar General about a week after I made up my original list of fall decorations and she found out that they were putting out early Christmas items and one of the things they had on the shelves were two boxes of the right kind of lights, which are the white cord and white or “warm” lights. They were on sale for $2 a piece so she ended up buying me two boxes just in case we needed a back up later on! After barely six months of being in the darkness again, I have them back and it feels even more like fall to me inside the four walls of my room. Although she found them from another store, I have the same brand linked to Walmart, and of course since Christmas is right around the corner the price went up to almost $20 but still, I don’t think this wouldn’t mattered to us either way!

Sometime next month, I will put up the kind of “decorate with me” or “bedroom tour”, I haven’t exactly figured out what the title will be but it’ll be about where I put everything in my room. You’ll see everything I got and hopefully by the time it goes up, I will have a before and after snapshots of the moon garland too. Cross your fingers and toes that it goes well for us!

Now it is your turn, I want to know what kind of stuff you like to decorate around your space? Do you have a specific aesthetic you follow throughout each room? What is your newest piece you have now?

OOTD: Black + White

Howdy!

Today I have a new outfit post for you! I originally wanted these pictures to be taken outside but since my dad helped bring me inside that day, I never got the chance to ask mom to do them over again. And there’s no point in asking dad because he doesn’t necessarily get it, so in ways we have to be grateful that my mom decided to do this while we waited for the doctor to see me!

On Friday, I decided to pick out something in my closet that I have yet to share with you guys. The top is actually the last of the clothes I bought back in February! I tried to talk my mom into wearing her shirt too since she bought the same one, so we could be twins but she voted against that. The shirt is long sleeves, which probably wasn’t the best thing to wear out in the month of June without a cloud in the sky. It sort of has a jersey style to it as the arms and around the upper part of the chest is all black while the rest is white.

The only design on it is a giant black skull with hearts as eyes on the front. Yes, that was the whole reason why I bought it. However, that wasn’t my mom’s reason, she purchased it because it was comfortable! It’s pretty soft to the touch, if you sweat in it the feel of it is annoying but it’s cotton. What I find interesting is that the upper half I explained is in like a deep black whereas the skull itself is like fading into a dark gray, I don’t know why both sections are two different colors, but as long as I have a few more shots to wear it out in public I’m fine. I’ll just have to wait until mid-September to wear it again.

My leggings were part of another outfit I had back in 2014 or ’15, I get confused of which year it was given to me, but I do remember getting it on Christmas Day along with another outfit that was similar to it. One was purple with sequins and the other was zebra print. Unfortunately the tops were too small for my arms because it had the shirt and small jacket attached to each other, so getting it off and on was difficult for us. So I mostly just wear the pants now! I’ve outgrown the purple pair and I’m pretty sure this was the last time I’ll be able to wear these as they were very tight around my waist and stomach.

Despite the tightness, they are very nice to wear. It would be easier to wear them while I’m not moving the push chair by myself. They are very slippery as my parents call them. I generally like that material but it does have its drawbacks with the “silky” texture and the different temperatures just go right through it; they’re the worst to wear in the winter because you feel the cold breeze very easily and if you are sitting out in the sun for a few minutes, the heat just goes right into your thighs and you feel like you’re melting! I like them, but as you can see they’re not a favorite among my parents!

What do you think of this outfit of the day? Yay or nay?

OOTD: Birthday Chic

Howdy!

Yeah, so this year hasn’t been a good one for my “outfits of the day” posts unfortunately! My mom and I really need to go through my closet and see what does work together, even though we already know the answer to that question; hardly anything I own goes together.

We did go through my pant drawers to see what all still fits me and what I wanted to wear. One bad thing was I had to let go of my favorite pair of jeans… I feel like I kept them just in case my mom would put me in them although I doubt my hips would have ever let that happen. The only reason why we still haven’t went through my actual closet is because she has to stand on top of my bed and I have a lot more shirts than bottoms too! I don’t know how that happens honestly!

In today’s OOTD post though, we found a cardigan in the middle of my closet, it even had the price tag on it too! It’s from Charlotte Russe, my mom and I think I got it from Christmas last year and we just forgot I had it. It is a pretty cardigan too! I’d say it’s more of a darker gray and it has an added detail at the sleeves: ruffles! You can’t necessarily see them on my arms but they were there! It’s long, so it hangs down and as my mom was pushing me around, she kept saying I had a tail because of the extra material hanging out in the back! I wore my skull tank top underneath it, because you know I can’t celebrate my birthday without some skulls popping into my outfit sometime! As far as my pants, my mom put me in my black and white plaid bottoms, they’re not heavy which I like the most about them. They’re nice and soft inside and out. They make me look much more sophisticated than I think!

Oh, I also decided to wear some jewelry too! I know I hardly wear my bracelets and necklaces but I felt like I needed something to finish off the whole outfit. The original necklace I wanted to wear didn’t want to unhook and I was really sad about that, but my mom exchanged it with my “Meghan” necklace she found by chance several years ago. One thing that I love about it (besides the fact it has my name spelled the right way), is that it’s on a shorter chain! The first one is super long, it’s beautiful but it goes down to my right hand which as you can see from the pictures below, that’s a large space in between!

I got lucky this year because there’s always a 50/50 chance that it could rain or storm, so I’m usually weary about what I should wear because I know by the end of the day, I’ll be thinking in my head “well, this was a bad idea to wear this!” Thankfully this was not one of those days! It was a perfect autumn day! It wasn’t cold or too warm; our trees are really starting to lose their leaves around town and it felt so good that I wore something very lightweight on accident and I was surprised after decorating cupcakes that the ends of my pants didn’t turn blue either!!

What do you think of my outfit? Yay or nay?

OOTD: Stripes & Cats

12509620_10201018820830804_1612703982312205842_n

Howdy!

It’s time for another OOTD post! Yesterday I was kind of absent from Twitter because I went over to spent time with my grandparents. It was a fun time as my nana and I did nothing but talk our heads off and she painted my toe nails too! You’ll get to read that post on Monday!

Tuesday’s outfit consists of black, gray, and white. A lot of you will think they’re all dreary colors. Some days I’d agree with you, but I kind of liked it. You’ve seen my top before, it’s my Aztec printed (I told you I was obsessed!) skull hoodie. My mom really likes this hoodie, but apparently I don’t have enough leggings that will match with it. My bottoms were a Christmas gift that funnily enough my sister got too! They’re black and have very cool looking white rows of stripes going up and down then side to side. We literally unwrapped them at the same time, I didn’t notice mine at first because I was too busy telling her how cute hers were and then I looked down and there they were! We found out that “Santa” mixed up our sizes. She got the small and I had the large, so before we went home we switched pairs! It’s all good!

When we got home from my nana’s, I thought it was nice enough to stay outside for a bit. I had just gotten told how many dentist appointments I had this week and the next so truth be told I needed to chill and hang out with the babies. Plus, I needed pictures for this post. Well, all of our cats went crazy! They wanted food and they got loving instead. I was trying to focus on the camera and between Bootsie and Nelly running up to my feet, I had about five cats wanting to be in each shot. So sorry if you’re not a big fan of cats because they crashed our mini photo shoot. That’s Bear-Bear’s back side in the picture above and sorry about Oscar’s butt right by my face. In the second is Felix, he usually doesn’t like sitting on my lap so five seconds after this was taken he jumped off, the last is of Bootsie at my foot getting her close up! The last two pictures were randoms of Nelly and Bear-Bear. Nelly was in the middle of meowing, we swear he’s very sweet! 😀

Besides the cats, how do you like my outfit? Yay or nay?

OOTD: Decay

006

Hey!

I honestly don’t know how many more of these will be up by the end of the week but I hope you like them! I’ve been enjoying writing each one so that’s a good thing! I apologize again for having to take this picture indoors.

This whole outfit is from one brand! I don’t think that has ever happened before! Well, my Thanksgiving outfit is all from one place but you’ll have to wait to see that one! I’ve talked about the shirt before, it’s white with a picture of a man (don’t know who it is!) in light shades of gray around him like in a frame and it has black lettering of “Without Music Life Would Be A Mistake.” I can no longer find a link for it on the website. I got it last winter for Christmas! It’s probably a medium, but it’s fairly big on me and not at all thick in material. I choose to see the good in that, because then I can sleep in comfortably!

So that’s my top, now about my bottoms! They were purchased last week when I got my Harry Potter shirt! They’re solid black pants with white skulls and pink flowers with green/brown leaves. I’ve been calling them my “decomposing” pants. They just remind me of death, but in a good way if there is such a thing! My mom actually liked these; they’re stretchy around my waist. The sleeves are a bit long, I have to roll them up when I want to use my feet, but they’re not bad. They might turn into a new favorite! Lucky for you, I found a link for these. Click here if you want a pair like mine! They are listed as “leggings” but they don’t look or feel like leggings to me.

What do you think of this outfit?
