OOTD: Black + White

Howdy!

Today I have a new outfit post for you! I originally wanted these pictures to be taken outside but since my dad helped bring me inside that day, I never got the chance to ask mom to do them over again. And there’s no point in asking dad because he doesn’t necessarily get it, so in ways we have to be grateful that my mom decided to do this while we waited for the doctor to see me!

On Friday, I decided to pick out something in my closet that I have yet to share with you guys. The top is actually the last of the clothes I bought back in February! I tried to talk my mom into wearing her shirt too since she bought the same one, so we could be twins but she voted against that. The shirt is long sleeves, which probably wasn’t the best thing to wear out in the month of June without a cloud in the sky. It sort of has a jersey style to it as the arms and around the upper part of the chest is all black while the rest is white.

The only design on it is a giant black skull with hearts as eyes on the front. Yes, that was the whole reason why I bought it. However, that wasn’t my mom’s reason, she purchased it because it was comfortable! It’s pretty soft to the touch, if you sweat in it the feel of it is annoying but it’s cotton. What I find interesting is that the upper half I explained is in like a deep black whereas the skull itself is like fading into a dark gray, I don’t know why both sections are two different colors, but as long as I have a few more shots to wear it out in public I’m fine. I’ll just have to wait until mid-September to wear it again.

My leggings were part of another outfit I had back in 2014 or ’15, I get confused of which year it was given to me, but I do remember getting it on Christmas Day along with another outfit that was similar to it. One was purple with sequins and the other was zebra print. Unfortunately the tops were too small for my arms because it had the shirt and small jacket attached to each other, so getting it off and on was difficult for us. So I mostly just wear the pants now! I’ve outgrown the purple pair and I’m pretty sure this was the last time I’ll be able to wear these as they were very tight around my waist and stomach.

Despite the tightness, they are very nice to wear. It would be easier to wear them while I’m not moving the push chair by myself. They are very slippery as my parents call them. I generally like that material but it does have its drawbacks with the “silky” texture and the different temperatures just go right through it; they’re the worst to wear in the winter because you feel the cold breeze very easily and if you are sitting out in the sun for a few minutes, the heat just goes right into your thighs and you feel like you’re melting! I like them, but as you can see they’re not a favorite among my parents!

What do you think of this outfit of the day? Yay or nay?

My Childhood Oddity | Part 2

12308734_10153767296003665_4175193564610996857_n

Hey guys!

Well, I have a treat for you!

In September of 2014, I wrote a little post about an old rock collection I used to have when I was a kid. My nana found the floral container I used to keep them in at her house. She couldn’t get the top off so I had to take it home for my dad to open and inside were these different rocks and one random sea shell that I must’ve stolen off the floor or something. I honestly have no clue why I would stick a shell in my jar but it’s in there!

I had a lot of fun going through my fairly large collection. I found out that I had a lot of smaller rocks than any of the bigger ones. I probably had better luck finding the smaller ones and that’s why I have so many of them! Well, after I did the pictures and wrote up the blog post about my little childhood oddity and I thought I was done talking about it. On December 4th, my mom came into my room and said my papaw was cleaning and he found a small box of his rock collection of when he was a kid! He gave them to me as an early Christmas present! I have a whole Velveeta box of rocks and it’s heavy as crap!! It’s a two foot job to lift up.

That night I decided to go through the box and see what all he had in his collection. I think, even at my age that rocks are pretty interesting. The ground that our houses, roads and feet rest on have always been here since the Earth was created. I think rocks are small gifts from Mother Earth herself. It doesn’t matter how much we continue to kill her with our destruction, she always gives us little natural gifts to help keep our sanity. My papaw said most of the rocks he collected are from the Rocky Mountains and some place else that I can’t remember, but it does explain some of their shapes and sizes. Quite a few don’t look like he dug them out of the backyard, which I don’t think is a bad thing either!

I had to look through this website afterwards because I was really curious to know what kind of rocks they are! There were some differences in textures between both collections. Majority of them felt rough. Those need extra care because you never know if you will cut yourself on them sometimes. It can happen! He had a lot of bigger ones, like maybe four or five large ones and then one giant rock that to me looks likes a red turd that somehow turned into a rock. Is that too much information? There’s definitely a few shiny, crystal-like, granite ones in the box. Those are always my favorites, even if I don’t know what to call them! Out of all these special rocks, there were a few gravel rocks that were stuffed into the sides of the box. Just because “normal” looking doesn’t mean that they’re lame!

So what do you think? Did you ever collect rocks or something you thought was “cool” as a kid?

OOTD: Neon

Howdy!

Instead of getting a whole three days worth of goodness like you got last weekend. You’re only getting an OOTD of what I wore yesterday when I went over to my nana’s.  I think I should start off talking about what caused this brightly explosion of colors! When you have family members dressing you, they each have their “go to” clothes that they immediately pick out and I’ve been really good about telling my mom to pick something out that I haven’t worn in a while. I’ve been wanting to wear these animal print leggings for a couple of months now but they are very silky – for the lack of a better word.to use here. I brought them at Body Central a few years ago! You can kind of tell that they have a different texture than your normal leggings, they’re smooth and since the seat of my push wheelchair is already like tha, I could easily slip right out of it. I have like three different pairs of these leggings and we are all afraid I’ll fall and hurt myself if these two were to mix.

If you haven’t learned by now, I don’t own a lot of colorful or basic shirts. I just love wearing my band tees or anything else that’s dark and full of skulls! So this shirt is my only neon shirt in my closet and it actually goes with another summer-y shirt I bought at Body Central some years ago, doubt it was the same time as the pants! This shirt has the same texture of my leggings, which is really strange if you think about it. My fingers are also very sensitive and this is one of their favorites! It’s not loose or too tight in my “problem” areas. If I had more colorful leggings I’d probably wear it more often honestly! I also got my toe nails done by my nana! My mom offered to paint them earlier in the week, but she confused my first answer for “no” so she never did them but the only color we have at the house is red and I was more in the mood for my mellow yellow I mentioned last month in my nail polish post. I feel like I should get black and paint stripes on them to create a bumblebee design, but I don’t know! Sorry for no picture of them either.

So what do you think of my Friday’s outfit?
