OOTD: Wheelchair Rapunzel

Howdy!

Last Friday was my birthday. If you didn’t know I had a blog post go up that day, talking about things that make me happy. So, if you haven’t seen that yet, maybe after this post you will go visit it and take a look at what I included inside?

For today though, it will be one of my favorite type of posts to create and that is an outfit of the day! It has been so long since I’ve actually done an OOTD it’s actually a first for 2019, which sounds so weird considering where we are on the yearly calendar.

There was really only one thing that I truly wanted for my birthday and there’s a special reason behind it too.

Although I have strong opinions on various things in the disability community, I have never belong to any of the groups. I follow my own path as everyone should, but for once I found a person that knew I was ready to accept my life for what it is, a proud disable woman. Alex Dacy is the creator of the company Wheelchair Rapunzel & Co. Even though I have only been following her for a short time, I love the message she’s trying to share with the world. We are beautiful, our bodies are amazing and gorgeous! We should be proud of our different shapes and sizes.

Alex recently updated her logo for her company a couple of months ago into this watercolor painted person in a wheelchair sign with a giant sunflower blinded into it. I would be lying if I Didn’t mention that sunflowers are my favorite, but it wasn’t the driving force to make me ask for it, when I really loved the combination of both the sunflower and wheelchair were on it, plus knowing it was time for me show off how beautiful I am.

Now it’s time to talk about the actual outfit.

On the Wheelchair Rapunzel’s website, you can get the same design I have but in the colors gray or pink. Since I’m not really a pink girl, I went with the gray instead. Honestly, my mom and I have found some common ground in my closet since everything that fits now is in that exact color! Where she use to complain about how much black I had in my life, has turned to gray! Anyways, this is a much lighter shade than anything I have so that was afferent for us.

As you can see the logo is located right in the middle of my arms. Thankfully it is large enough where they don’t cover a lot of it, so you can still the yellow of the sunflower and certain spots of the wheelchair too. For my legs, my mom was going to put me in my basketball pants, that are in the same color of the shirt but has a thick white strip going down my waist to my feet. These are one of two favorite pants lately, but I thought another pair I had would be a better fit. I hoped she wasn’t washing it or this wouldn’t work out well for me, but it wasn’t. I wore a pair of leggings that are a darker gray with what my mom described as “cobblestones” pattern throughout, which I could agree with because I have been calling them “floral” when they don’t look like any flowers to us!

Lastly, I want to say that as much I don’t enjoy taking pictures of my outfit indoors, it was extremely cold outside. When I got up that morning, I had a chance to see my kitties on the back patio doors, the ground had frost on it! It had snowed on Halloween too! I saw so many people say that “well, it’s snowing! Can I put up my Christmas tree now?”. I was just happy that it was sunny as crap on my birthday.

When my parents came in to sing to me “happy birthday” although my dad was telling himself instead, he does this with pretty much all of us! My mom gave me two packages of chocolate candy: a large bar of Hershey’s dark chocolate and a jumbo pack of Reese’s. However, my dad stayed true to tradition and brought me some nice flowers, and yes, there were three sunflowers! However, since I had a vase of sunflowers and daisies from the other day when my mom went to the store, these went into the kitchen because we are running out of places to put them in! However, we used as a prop for the pictures and I thought they were a great addition to the piece. For once everything turned out right that we may need to do this again!

Before I go, I think you should look into Alex’s story and purchase any of the shirts or anything else that she has on her site. Tell her Meghan sent you! Okay, I have to go now! Hope you are enjoying your Wednesday!

The Wedding | Nails, Hair, & Dresses!

Hello!

We start our adventure on Wednesday, we were supposed to have like a spa day with all of the bridesmaids but ultimately decided against that but Blondie did came to the house so dad could do her nails. He’s been doing nails since she was competing in beauty pageants! I went first and after spending about an hour on just trying to remove the old polish on my toes, he pulled out the clippers. For anybody who doesn’t know, I’m terrified of the clippers, like I break out in sweats that’s how bad my anxiety gets whenever they’re around. Anyways, I managed to tick off my dad enough that my mom had to paint both my finger and toe nails!

I hardly ever get my finger nails done, and now I know why. I had to smell nail polish for like two days straight! Every time I tried to put on my blanket at night, the smell would brush up on me! I had a stomachache every time I got a woof of it. I had mom put another shade of pink on my fingers–apparently both Blondie and I had the same baby pink polish and we didn’t even know it! I used this because I thought it would be as close to the shade of my dress and I was right! As far as my toes, Blondie brought down a silver and hot pink and I decided to do the opposite of what she was doing or vice versa. All of my toes are silver with the “ring toe” is just pink!

Poor dad had so much trouble getting the pink on her nails though. She has quite a few dents on her nails of where she’s smashed them at work! According to him, the polish was pretty thick too so he literally spent like five minutes of one hand alone! He didn’t have an issue with the silver thank god! Afterwards, he started on my mom’s nails! My nana had this light orange polish that my aunt grabbed on accident a few days before and we thought it was as close to her dress!

Now I have to talk about hair! Blondie and I chose a similar hairstyle. We both wanted loose curls and our hair braided! Poor Dyllanne had so much trouble trying to figure out how to do the braids, because the picture I gave her didn’t necessarily gave you instructions so she had to wing it. It took her about three tries before she finally cracked the code! Somehow I only needed four bobby pins after all of that! Once at the reception though, I had Jayde put it up in a ponytail because I figure it would all fall onto my plate if I didn’t!

I know I’ve talked about the dresses before, but as I found out through my friend Ania a couple of months ago, I never showed anyone what I looked like in the pink dress as I had to try on the ones in red and blue! Blondie bought me some fabric tape because my strap and around my right side were very loose, so we had to make sure that nothing came out. One of the bridesmaid’s Alli actually had to add another strip before we went out to do pictures because the one on my right side was coming off! The length was another thing. I was worried that if we went higher on the sizes that the length would get longer as well, because I wanted a short dress. Thankfully everything went fine and I had my “short” dress even if the ends were at my ankles! I’ve shared what Blondie’s wedding dress looked like back in January of 2016, but she had quite a few alterations done to it but the structure is still the same but it fit her a lot better than that first time!

As far as dad, Brandon and the rest of the groomsmen they had a silver tux with pink bow ties and vest and wore brown shoes, which at first nobody liked until you saw all of it on together and then it made the outfit that much better! And yes, my dad wore his gray bandana to walk her down the aisle. He honestly wanted to shave everything but Blondie said no! Hell, we all said no!

The next post(s) should be about the wedding itself, so keep an eye out of it!

OOTD: Black + White

Howdy!

Today I have a new outfit post for you! I originally wanted these pictures to be taken outside but since my dad helped bring me inside that day, I never got the chance to ask mom to do them over again. And there’s no point in asking dad because he doesn’t necessarily get it, so in ways we have to be grateful that my mom decided to do this while we waited for the doctor to see me!

On Friday, I decided to pick out something in my closet that I have yet to share with you guys. The top is actually the last of the clothes I bought back in February! I tried to talk my mom into wearing her shirt too since she bought the same one, so we could be twins but she voted against that. The shirt is long sleeves, which probably wasn’t the best thing to wear out in the month of June without a cloud in the sky. It sort of has a jersey style to it as the arms and around the upper part of the chest is all black while the rest is white.

The only design on it is a giant black skull with hearts as eyes on the front. Yes, that was the whole reason why I bought it. However, that wasn’t my mom’s reason, she purchased it because it was comfortable! It’s pretty soft to the touch, if you sweat in it the feel of it is annoying but it’s cotton. What I find interesting is that the upper half I explained is in like a deep black whereas the skull itself is like fading into a dark gray, I don’t know why both sections are two different colors, but as long as I have a few more shots to wear it out in public I’m fine. I’ll just have to wait until mid-September to wear it again.

My leggings were part of another outfit I had back in 2014 or ’15, I get confused of which year it was given to me, but I do remember getting it on Christmas Day along with another outfit that was similar to it. One was purple with sequins and the other was zebra print. Unfortunately the tops were too small for my arms because it had the shirt and small jacket attached to each other, so getting it off and on was difficult for us. So I mostly just wear the pants now! I’ve outgrown the purple pair and I’m pretty sure this was the last time I’ll be able to wear these as they were very tight around my waist and stomach.

Despite the tightness, they are very nice to wear. It would be easier to wear them while I’m not moving the push chair by myself. They are very slippery as my parents call them. I generally like that material but it does have its drawbacks with the “silky” texture and the different temperatures just go right through it; they’re the worst to wear in the winter because you feel the cold breeze very easily and if you are sitting out in the sun for a few minutes, the heat just goes right into your thighs and you feel like you’re melting! I like them, but as you can see they’re not a favorite among my parents!

What do you think of this outfit of the day? Yay or nay?

OOTD: Wonder

Howdy!

Today is the day that the new Wonder Woman movie comes out starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen! This post is not sponsored, I just bought a new WW shirt and decided to publish the outfit post because it felt right!

This will also my second DC superhero T-shirt that I have in my closet after the Batman shirt that my mom swore was apart of Marvel – you should have seen her face when I told her that Wonder Woman wasn’t part of it either! Anyways, I bought it when I got the other shirt at Walmart; I don’t remember if I had mentioned it in my last post that I found both of the shirts in the men’s section because half the time when I purchase tops they don’t fall off my shoulders! The necklines are so nice to me!

The shirt is mostly in different shades of gray, but has a comic version of Wonder Woman on the front. She’s located right in the middle of the shirt, she’s basically the only colored part of my shirt. She has her red and gold colors that everybody is familiar with. My mom made the comment as soon as I looked down on my arms, “well, one hand is covering up her face and the other has her hoochie!” Thankfully whenever I move my arm over on the armrest you can actually see her face, which makes me feel better! I can’t do much about the arm because it’s too low!

Now my pants are a pair of leggings I found on accident, they weren’t located in the regular section. They were in the middle of the walk way between the little boys and shoe sections! Out of all the leggings there, I only grabbed one because we were worried that they didn’t wash well, it was too strange for them to be there so my mom and I were having a hard time taking them seriously! Anyways, they’re a nice solid blue, on the left sleeve there is the word “Fearless” in caps and I always want to wear them with my superhero shirts and I think this one works well with them!

The cats in the background are eating leftover french fries and in the last picture, that was my sister’s arm on the side!

What do you think of this outfit? Yay or nay? Are you going to see Wonder Woman this weekend?

OOTD: Spring Dress!

18386789_10202903824154709_1940584092_n

Howdy!

Today’s post is about what I wore to my sister’s bridal shower last weekend! As you can see, I wore a dress!

I wanted to get something nice to wear at Blondie’s bridal shower and for some odd reason I just wanted to wear a dress. I have one in my closet but I haven’t tried it on since 2015 so I was unsure if it was going to fit and I didn’t want to wait until the last minute to see, so I had mysteriously committed myself to wearing a dress! One day we were at Walmart and we were looking around and they had a small amount of casual dresses in the store, but we had found these three different colored lace-y dresses and I was kind of into them, but I was still second guessing myself.

As I’ve mentioned in the past I have a lot of insecurity issues with different areas, mainly with my stomach and arms. I’m not considered skinny around my stomach and waist, sometimes I get down about that because I know I can’t say it’s muscle like I do with my butt, so I have a hard time feeling beautiful in my skin. The one place that tends to really bother me the most are my arms. They’re just there and get in the way of my tops that have pretty designs in the front.

We were in the food department and I kept thinking about them. So I talked my mom into taking me back to where they were and she and I agreed on buying the black one although I had seriously considered the baby blue instead! It came with a nice light brown belt that I really liked! The dress reminds me of like Spanish inspired, because of the neckline and ruffles of the sleeves. I really like the lace-y texture of course! I wasn’t really into the pink throughout, but I am slowly coming around to the color in general now! It has some baby blue flowers in there too – I just really loved it!

One of our concerns was obviously the shoulders, I can never find anything that will actually stay up on my right shoulder. So my mom had the idea for placing a safety pin on the back to help it from falling down. I absolutely hate safety pins! They make me feel uneasy and I always feel like it’s going to undo and poke me, and I do not want to do that anywhere around my back. So she thought about tying the clear straps that you put on your hanger together and hoping that it would be enough to keep it up and surprisingly it worked and I was very happy about that!

I wasn’t going to mention this, but figured I probably should. Since I was going to be around a lot of people and ended up participating in the shower quite a bit, my mom put me in a pair of shorts. I mostly kept my feet somewhat leveled but it was something that I just felt I needed to do so I wasn’t worried on how much I moved around. I also wore my “M” necklace with it, because my other one wouldn’t undo for us and I would love to wear it again, not exactly sure if it would go with the dress itself but you know! You might see it in a coming up post as my dad fixed it for us! As for my hair, my mom had half of it in a small clip, she thought I looked very elegant! While my nana thought I looked like a little doll!

So what do you think of my outfit? Yay or nay? When was the last time you wore like a cute and fun dress?
