Autumn Tag

Howdy!

So, I was on Twitter earlier this week when I found a little comment thread and this little tag was shared by Tea Party Princess (love it, so cute!) and as I read the post I realized I have never done this one. I mean, I know for a fact I have another tag about fall, but I hadn’t seen this questions before so I think this might be a new one.

The Rules!

  • Answer the questions
  • Link back to the creator
  • Tag other people (if you want to!)

Here are the questions!

Hot Chocolate – what is your comfort book?

I was going to say To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han, but that would be a lie. I mean, it’s a great book, but for some odd reason the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this question was a good erotica book! I mean, it’s true in a way. There are a couple of themes that make me comfortable as strange as that sounds, but whenever the weather outside gets a little colder, sometimes all I want to read a book that has a lot of sex in it. #shameless

Pumpkin Carving – what is your favorite creative outlet?

Recently it has been spending hours on Pinterest organizing! Now that you can make little boards within a board is very intoxicating for me! I have three of them that are full of different aesthetics. So, I started out with my new story boards and that has been a really good thing to have as far as figuring out more about my characters. In the beginning, I had each one with their own board, with having little sections for their style, home life, relationships with other characters etc. There is a massive amount of writers that use Pinterest for the same reason and I am basically learning to follow along I guess!

The next one is about colors. I have a lot light and vibrant hues. What’s even cooler (or weirder) is that they all have names for each one! For example, green is Giada Maria, red is called Valentina Soleil, and turquoise is Tiffany Brooke! And lastly, I just started collecting pictures that went with my favorite parts of history and once it got up to 50 pins, I just thought it would be really fun to create one section dedicated for a different important person. As of right now, the list goes..

  • Cleopatra
  • Bjorn Ironside
  • Vlad The Impalar
  • Leonardo Da Vinci
  • Henry Tudor
  • Elizabeth of York
  • King Henry VIII
  • Katherine of Aragon
  • Anne Boleyn
  • Jane Seymour
  • Lady Jane Grey
  • Mary I
  • Elizabeth I
  • Abigail Williams
  • Marie Antoinette
  • Jane Austen
  • Mary Shelley
  • Queen Victoria
  • Harriet Tubman
  • Beatrix Potter
  • Laura Ingalls Wilder
  • Molly Brown
  • Vincent van Gogh
  • Oscar Wilde
  • Winston Churchill
  • John Dillinger
  • Neil Armstrong

Falling Leaves – changes that appear bad but you secretly love?

I am usually pretty good with changes in life, a lot better than some members of my family. I know everything is there to teach you a lesson of some kind, but of course there are some that I will try to dodge but everything happens a reason and there’s no use in hating something like that.

Pumpkin Spiced Latte – something you love that others that tend to judge

I am still a lover of Disney princesses falling in love at first sight–although I have never believed in it, I fall hopelessly in love with these types of movies. I believe a woman can rescue herself but I will always love knowing there’s a man wanting to protect her too. I really don’t see anything wrong with that.

Bonfire Night – what makes you explode with joy?

So, there are two things. I love being around our cats. I haven’t been able to go out and be with them up close for a while, but I can see them through the windows and when I say their names, they’ll meow back to me. It is literally one of the cutest thing ever!

And of course, hanging out with my little nephew makes me happy, unless he is not feeling good and crying/screaming, all that does is make me want to cry right along with him! He has been loving everytime I get on the floor with him though, he knows I’ll play and read books with him. Everytime I hear him say “hi” or give me a hug makes me so happy!

Fright Night – favorite scary book of film

I am not much of a scary film person, but as far as scary books there’s a great short story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman called “The Yellow Wall-Paper” we read it for one of my English courses in school and it was so hauntingly beautiful that it became one of my favorites!

Halloween Candy – favorite thing to eat

I love PASTA! After years of being in a house with a father who has described himself as “meat and potatoes” type of guy, I have found myself branching out of that lifestyle and want almost every carbs you can find on this planet! The only second thing I am addicted to is dark chocolate!

Scarves – your autumn ‘must have’ accessory

I don’t really wear any accessories when I go out, but I do believe having great nails is a must! For fall, I think any color you see on the trees of the changing season is a nice touch. My favorites are gray, red and a vibrant yellow that would clearly match the petals of a sunflower!

Fire – a book or film that burns your soul

Hmmm, I’ll go with the movie first, I think The Hours wins the top spot! It is the story of three women in three different time periods going through life. It is a very sad film. It even brought out some very negative thoughts for me, but after I released those feelings, I changed emotionally and mentally, it was very weird but obviously it must have been what I needed at that time and I didn’t even know it!

Now for the book, this is going to sound weird yet again, but at the time I read this, I was still adamant about the fact that rockstars don’t deserve to or fall in life. Yeah, I know, that’s a bit harsh! After I began reading Olivia Cunning’s series Sinners On Tour, starting with Backstage Pass, I really came around that I was being very mean to the whole music genre and I saw their humanity, even if they were all fictional characters, they felt real to me because there are probably a lot of musicians dealing with the same things too.

Toffee Apples – a book or film that seems one thing but really has a different inside

I think when everyone watches superhero movies, they are either a giant fan of the comic book characters and look for the things that make them fall in love with that character, but when I watched X-Men: First Class I didn’t have all of that information, I just had what was given during the previous X-Men films of Charles Xavier and Erik. So, when I was watching this one, I got to see Magneto’s point of view on being proud of your differences, and for me this was very big because I grew up always wanting to be like everyone else and never loving me who I was, so it was really eye opening as a person with a disability.

I am finished! I am also not going to tag anyone special for this. If you want to do it, you can, as long as you link me back to your post so I can read answers! I hope you have enjoyed today’s post!

Do you like these tags or surveys as they use to be called on MySpace? Yes, I went there!

Halloween Decor | Everything Is Under $100

Howdy!

I am such a lover of autumn, it is my favorite time of the year to go shopping for decor, the second being is Christmas of course! I just love the different colors of reds, yellows, and oranges of the trees around town, but I also enjoy seeing the impressive Halloween displays in front yards. I am a fan of the tacky bright orange with the Charlie Brown eyes and mouth, but I also love the gore-y decorations some people are brave enough to show off on their neighbors too.

Right now, we currently don’t have a porch on our house so we can’t necessarily have any pumpkins on display, although I think we could get by with putting a couple at the base of the stairs. The cats would enjoy them but I think people would miss them at night and really hurt themselves because they were in the way. So, as another way to talk about ways of decorating, I figured this was the only way to go.

Below I will be giving you eight items that I found on Walmart’s website to help spice up your home a little with some ghoul-y cheer!

There were two things that I wanted to make sure I put on this post and they are everything will be under $100, I honestly tried to keep it about half of that but I kept finding cute things that were higher, so I caved a bit! I also thought it was smart to give you a subtle fall and some Thanksgiving options along with some spooky stuff too! I am going to talk about two items from each section, but if you’d like to check out the whole group, underneath the banner above are the links with their prices to each one. I want to apologize if any of them say they are “out of stock” at the time you go to check them out. None were like that when I created the post.

Thanksgiving Cream Pumpkins

I have always loved the faux white pumpkins, but I’ve always wanted to use the normal orange ones to do any of our crafts. As I’ve gotten older I’ve sort of realized how smart my nana and I would have been to use the fake pumpkins to decorate, because let’s face it we would have them forever! We could have put them in many places throughout the house instead of putting them outside in the cold!

Another reason why I love these pumpkins is because you can have them for the entire fall season. If you can find it in a neutral color like this, your house can look very chic but still have the full inspiration of everything autumn brings too. Walmart also has them in a light shade of green and dusty blue! These were my favorites though because I liked the way they looked, they were different!

Mustard Chevron Fleece Throw Blanket

I have been watching a lot of different YouTube videos lately and I’ve seen almost everyone talk about having a mustard colored blanket and at first, I didn’t understand all of the hype over it but then I thought it was the perfect color to continue my sunflower theme for my room. It wasn’t too bright or light of a hue and that’s what I’ve been interested in for the past few months. I also enjoy the little fringe at the sides because it reminds me of a blanket I had as a child, but ultimately I love fleece blankets so it really doesn’t matter what the color or little additions are on it, if it’s fleece I will pretty much love it to pieces!

Unfortunately, this was the first one that I found that was “expensive” to me, when I told my mom about it, she made it out to be not so bad. In my defense, I don’t go shopping for bedding stuff too often so our differences in price ranges are pretty prominent. I feel like once it becomes time for Christmas to steal the season’s time in the spotlight, it might go on clearance and that could be the perfect time to purchase it. That’s just my thinking for you today!

Mini Ceramic Halloween Tree

Growing up my grandparents had a lot of these types of trees around their house. My nana would leave them on at all hours and since we were afraid to sleep in that living room, those trees were just enough light to keep us sane through the whole night! Anyways, she also had a pretty white one and my papaw had a smaller one, that now belongs to me because it was always stored on top of the organ desk. I still need to replace the light bauble but I think I’ll have it up this winter!

When I saw this on the website, I immediately became very happy because it still looked like the others but it was just in black, purple and orange–regular Halloween colors! What was funny though is that all of the rage last Christmas were these black Christmas trees, and so I thought this would be as close as I would ever get to having a black tree in my room. However, there was one drawback once I looked at the price! So, again I went with my thought I had about the blanket that maybe after Halloween ends it’ll go up on sale.

Purple Translucent Skull Figurine

Right after I finished my search for the pumpkins, I had to check out the skulls they had too! I figured the type I was looking for were in low supplies, because I don’t really like the creepy looking ones nor do I enjoy the tacky ones that much either. When it comes to skulls, I am quite picky! I prefer both matte, day of the dead and translucent skulls. They did have some cool sugar skulls but when I saw this one with the word “purple” hell, even I knew it was game over!

The only thing I was puzzled about it was that it definitely doesn’t look purple on the picture. To me that is more like hot pink! So, I am hoping this isn’t false advertisement there. After I noticed, I also saw the price of it and I began to wonder on good the quality was, just because it looks gorgeous on the site, doesn’t mean it’ll look really cheap once you get it home. However, it could be a good product and I’m worrying for no reason at all!

What did you think of this little Halloween home decor post? do you have any favorites listed above? How would you rate the decorative items from Walmart?

October Playlist

Untitled

Howdy!

October is almost over, like tomorrow is Halloween people! It doesn’t real that 2018 is fading away slowly and it’ll be 2019 in no time, but let’s not dwell on that right now. This past month has brought a lot of new music with it. I’ve been trying to listen to as much as I can in these last couple of weeks, since I’ve been sort of preoccupied with album releases that came out in late September. I want to complete those on here before I really attempted to dive in with October’s offerings!

At the start of the month, I was really in the mood for Britney Spears. It was so bad that I was listening to her older albums on my iPod (because that’s all I have on there!) just before bed and I was so impressed with my dad when he actually guessed her on the fly, and he admitted that he’s always liked her voice. I didn’t actually know that, but in my defense he hasn’t really liked any of my sister and I’s music! If you like Britney Spears growing up, which album is your favorite? Mine is either “Britney” or “In The Zone”

I wish I could say that the music has changed to fit the new season, but that’ll never happen so half the songs I’ve been listening were released sometime in the summer but since nobody really wants to embrace the colder temperatures outsides, they’re the only things keeping the fun times rolling just with the warmth of pumpkin spice lattes keeping us in those summer days. I have been looking into raggaeton musicians lately and I’ve been collecting a vast amount of songs to keep me dancing and of course, happy too!

Here are my Top 10 songs for October!

Taki Taki by DJ Snake featuring Ozuna, Cardi B, & Selena Gomez
Rare by Ruth B
I’m A Mess by BeBe Rexha
Barbie Dreams by Nicki Minaj
Head Above Water by Avril Lavigne
Raggaeton Lento (Remix) by CNCO featuring Little Mix
Done For Me by Charlie Puth featuring Kehlani
Happy Now by Zedd featuring Elley Duhe
Happier by Marshmello featuring Bastille
Eastside by Benny Blanco featuring Khalid and Halsey

If you’re a Spotify user, you can go check out the WHOLE playlist here right now!

I was pretty proud of myself since I was able to go back to reviewing music again. I only talked about five albums by different women. I thought it was just International Day To Be A Girl the other day and I managed to do this on accident! I feel like they made me embrace the changes of the season, except for maybe the second one I did. They each had their share of happy but dark and gloomy songs on the albums. So, if you’re not at that point to celebrate fall yet, but you want something to take you there mentally, maybe you should check out the music below with their reviews!

Dogviolet by Laurel | Heart Of The Hurricane by Beyond The Black | Sign by RAIGN | Ancient Land by Celtic Woman | Infections Of A Different Kind (Step 1) by AURORA

At noon, I will be publishing a second batch of songs over on my blog’s Facebook page and my personal Twitter. I would like to stay at ten songs for these posts so I’m looking forward to feature bonus content to post on those sites. I hope you enjoy all of the playlists I’ve shared with you today. 🙂

What were you listening to in this October? Is there a specific type of music to get you in the mood for the colder months, if so, name a few down at the bottom for me.

OOTD: Sweater Weather!

14947833_10202150465161205_4528462304825054976_n

Howdy!

So when I had written up my second birthday bash post I forgot to add my second “birthday outfit” and when I went back through to see if I could squeeze it in anywhere I realized that I should just make it a stand alone post! Remember the other OOTD I did and I said it wouldn’t be my birthday without some skulls? I think I might’ve overdid it with this one!

There are a couple of shirts up in my closet that I do know I have but I keep forgetting about them! This one is one of those shirts and it’s a freaking sweater! I still had to wear a tank top underneath it but nevertheless a sweater! I really like it, unfortunately I can’t tell you where I got it because I don’t have a clue!

It’s a white, thick sweater with a few black skull and crossbones on the front of it, some of them have rhimestones on them and a couple of them don’t and they didn’t even come off in the wash, they just don’t have little circles where they would be placed on the design! As far as pants go, I kept up with the whole sweater vibe! My leggings have that knitting or sweater quality to them, I’m pretty sure I’ve worn them before on a couple of OOTDs! There are very warm, they were warmer than the actual sweater and tank top!

I decided to leave my hair down for this OOTD which is something I don’t normally do because my hair has gotten so long that it’s just a pain in the ass! I know my folks want me to have it cut, but it’s only going to get colder and I’ve had my hair short in the winter months and it’s not fun so I think I’m just going to toughen it out until hopefully March and by that time it might get as long as it did before I had my back surgeries in 2002! Yes, that is the last time I had really long hair!

So what do you think about this outfit? Yay or nay? What is your favorite sweater to wear in the fall/winter?

DIY: Little Turkeys!

14720627_1261288937268767_3807236885840741245_n

Hi 🙂

I think I should come out and say my nana has really surprised me on the fact that she’s been so creative throughout this season! After introducing her to all of the popsicle crafts on Pinterest, she’s really put in the effort in creating new things! I actually figured we’d stop for a month and wait until the last week of November to start on our Christmas crafts because you know those are coming soon!

So when she sent me a batch of different crafts for Thanksgiving, (a variation of turkeys popped into my inbox on Facebook one day! It was scary!) but I didn’t make fun because I was a bit worried on what we were going to do in the three to five hours I tend to stay with her on a weekly basis! She took care of that, but that does mean we are quickly running out of our brand new paints and bottles of glitter!

14656350_1261287063935621_5986157657350604104_n

What you will need for this:

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Glue
  • Paint
  • Brushes
  • Construction paper or cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Permanent Marker
  • Duct Tape (optional)
  • Glitter (optional)

My nana has these old coasters as we’re calling them, they are circular and have two different sides: one is shiny where the other has a grainy texture to it. The last time I tried painting on them, I used the shiny side and it took it forever to dry probably because of how many coats of paint I had to put on it, the one downfall of that side is that shiny texture makes the surface almost slippery, the paint didn’t want to stay where I had put it originally, so it was a pain in the butt! So when we were doing these, I decided to try out the other side and despite the fact I had to put two coats of brown on it, it actually worked a lot better for me!

Before I started painting though, I decided to make my job a lot easier and draw out a half an oval on the bottom of the circle going horizontal for the face of the turkey. After that, I painted big circles for the eyes with white in the upper part of the plain space and once that dried, I painted the surrounding around the eyes and in between with a lighter orange, as it mimicked the flap around its beak. I left that to dry for a bit before I took out the brown again and painted the rest of the area I had made for its face as I didn’t need it anymore. In case you don’t have a brush with tiny bristles, you can use a black Sharpie for the eyes! That’s what we had to use for them!

14724445_1261284870602507_3561921801399055770_n14670851_1261288027268858_7972799864825073264_n14731247_1261288293935498_8358093024328028952_n

As far as the back-end of the turkey, where its feathers are located at, we used our popsicle sticks and I tried to remember what a traditional turkey’s feathers would look like, so I chose both gray and orange, but again to make things easier on me, copying what I did with its body, I drew lines in different sections of the sticks of where to stop painting! This helped a lot for the gray! I added another coat of orange just before we glued them onto the turkey itself because I didn’t think the color went down enough, and I’m glad I did that because two didn’t have enough!

Anyways, after they were done drying completely, my nana took out her hot glue gun and put quite a bit of glue on the tops of the sticks and laid the body of the turkey on top of it. We had to weight it down with something heavu so they would all stick, but it looked really cute in the end!

14650110_1261285003935827_1870557904722840132_n11222907_1261285047269156_6263265297017753339_n14691067_1261285300602464_77310701907375294_n

My nana actually didn’t use the coasters for hers, she cut up small circles of left over cardboard and used that as the body for the turkeys instead! Our methods were the basically the same past this point. We both started using popsicle sticks and the first one she created as painted in different colors that matched (or slightly) the glitter that we had left… Afterwards, she cut up a spoon-like shaped face for it with construction paper and used tiny parts of the paper for the mouth, she used white paint and the Sharpie for the eyes! She originally wanted the rest of the body to be covered in glitter, but when went cleaning in her office again, we found bend-y paper shavings and she glued those on it instead!

Her second turkey is mostly the same method as the other one, but the only difference was the body and “feathers” are covered in duct tape! And with using the duct tape too, she only had room for four sticks as to the original six we used for the other two! She had rainbow tape left over and used it instead of painting the areas. She did have to cut out another spoon shape for its face again, and everything about that is the same as the one above!

So what do you think? Would you want to re-create your own turkeys for Thanksgiving or fall in general?

Foods I Want In The Fall

0013

Disclaimer: I apologize for anyone reading this post before (or after) their lunch break. You may want to save this for later because it won’t help you out at all.

Hi 🙂

Last year around this time I started to notice something different about my appetite and what I was mostly craving when the temperatures would basically drop. I was in the mood for anything that was going to go down gently and warm, in other words all I wanted was soup.

Soup

This year, soup is still something I want. I’ve gone as far as where one morning I went online to the Campbell’s Soup website and looked up all of the soups they make and wrote them out in my notepad so whenever my mom went to the store next, she could possibly find a couple of them for me so I could try them!

Of course, I still want chicken noodle and vegetable soup majority of the time I go over to my nana’s, but those are the only ones that I’ve tried and fell in love with, so I’m open to try others at home with my folks, they seemed to be supportive with that exchange too! So far I only like the potato soups out of the three I’ve had… I mostly go for the chunky kind because I want something that’ll fill me up, not be this hot liquid force going through my body! I’m not saying on really cold day that wouldn’t be a dream come true but in the last two months I’ve wanted chunky style!

Snickerdoodles

I’ve seen it on TV that fall is the “season of baking”, unfortunately, nobody in my family knows how to make homemade snickerdoodles. I feel like they’re like a standard sugar cookie, the only difference is before you bake it, you add cinnamon on top of them. Everybody knows cinnamon is like one of 3 autumnal scents with apples and pumpkins at the top of the list! So they are the ultimate fall cookie to me!

Apples

I’m not an apple pie kind of person. I’ve never been into both pies or cheesecakes in my life and I find it strange because everybody seems to like both of them at times and I’m not like that. I’m also not an oatmeal kind of girl either. I’ve tried it at two different points of my life: younger and just recently and I still can’t stand of something warm with such a sweet taste. It’s just weird!

Once autumn comes along, I want a lot of apples! I get cravings for apples in caramel with peanuts! I’ve only ever had it once in my life and ever since I’ve wanted it again. My mom gets me a kid’s meal (not joking!) from Wendy’s because they offer apple slices and I just devour them whenever she puts them on my plate! It’s ridiculous! I’ve also acquired a taste of apple juice despite hating it as a kid! Same goes with grape juice too!

Banana Nut Muffins

When I was in grade school, sometimes I would go down to the cafeteria and have breakfast. Surprisingly, the breakfasts they would serve us were pretty good. I literally still have dreams of a few of them, but the two of the muffins they would make were blueberry and banana nut. I loved them both, but I loved the banana nut muffins than the blueberry.

It took me longer to find another brand of banana based muffins than blueberry! I remember having a huge craving of them one day and I basically had my mom go out on a scavenger hunt at the store to find me some than besides Hostess, because those weren’t good enough in the banana area as they were with blueberry and chocolate chip. And then one day she found these gigantic muffins that became my guiltiest pleasure ever! They’re moist on the inside and the top of it has extra nuts scattered all over and they’re just amazing!

What are your favorite food(s) to eat or snack on in the fall?

DIY: The Pumpkins!

14457488_1237436612987333_8221062039830790018_n

Hi 😉

I’ve been keeping everybody on their toes about these damn pumpkins and if it wasn’t for my mom, we probably wouldn’t had done them this year!

I’ve done so many posts about these pumpkins that they’ve sort of been embedded into my brain. The only thing that my nana and I tend to forget every year is the prep! Our whole setup was different from the years before because the chair she normally sat in to actually melt the crayons on the pumpkins is gone and the chair that is in its place is papaw’s chair, which everybody is in agreement that it is NOT comfortable to sit in. It’s a damn miracle that my papaw would sit in it everyday!

Anyways, we mostly had to everything on the opposite part of the kitchen and at one point, my poor nana got stuck between the white box and her other chair by the sink and said a very bad word!

Oh, and I tried to kill a cricket in between all of this too!

14457488_1237436612987333_8221062039830790018_n

What you will need for this:

  • Pumpkin (we used both white and orange)
  • Crayons
  • Hot glue gun and/or Elmer’s glue (we used both!)
  • Hair dryer
  • Aluminium Foil
  • Newspapers
  • Glitter

This year, my nana got a couple of white pumpkins and they are very cute! They’re real, not fake, because I think they would have weighted a little less especially with the one we decided to work with that day! The day before, I picked out a couple of crayons that I figured would turn out pretty good on it. I finally got to use a orange!! Because you can never use that color with a regular pumpkin. A way to get the crayons out of their wrappers, you need to soak them in a cup of water for a little bit so they become easier to peel for you! However, this year my nana just decided to not to do that – she might be gaining some patience after all!

We used an old calendar as a protector of the foam box, we didn’t feel like lighting anything on fire! Not saying we’ve ever done that either, but we’re very cautious! Anyways, I put the pumpkin on top of the aluminium foil and folded the sides inward to help keep the crayons from drippings onto the floor or wall! We sometimes wear newspapers at our legs to help protect from the heat of the hair dryer and splatters of the melting wax!

We broke the crayons into halves (or tried) and put around 12 or 13 sticks of them all around the top of the pumpkin with the hot glue gun and I basically gave this job to my nana after the second one because it always worries me; doesn’t necessarily make her feel any better either I’m sure! As for the second pumpkin, we had to use regular Elmer’s glue because the hot glue wasn’t working so just before we turned on the hair dryer to start the melting process, we reinforced the crayons to their spots. I went for the bright but also picked a couple of darker colors to line up at the top. The ending result was very pretty! I sort of liked the dark colors on it better than the neon ones, especially the violet and gray!
