June Playlist

I have another monthly playlist for you! June had a lot of good music but then again I think I say that all the time! I think every month has its own tracks and vibe. It’s been six months and I’m just now getting that now!

Tune Tuesday | France 2016

tunetues2016

Howdy!

France has become a country that has sort of surprised me in the few years. The music there is really good and I literally freak myself out whenever I found somebody from there because I like having this country on my Tune Tuesday rota every year but I feel like I am getting down to the bottom of the barrel, so I’m going to need some more artists and bands for next year’s post!

I originally had three that I was going to talk about today, but I exchanged the last one with another artist that I found out a couple of weeks ago, so I’m excited to share him with you!

First up is the symphonic metal band called WHYZDOM and I just figured out how to pronounce it! Jeez! I’ve known about them for almost two years and the first time I actually type it out I realize it literally spells out “wisdom”. I’m slow. Anyways, they are a female fronted band that has some gothic notes to them. They’re pretty good despite not knowing a lot about them. Which if I’m being totally honest, I don’t listen to anybody on this post today a lot and it makes me hate myself for it!

The next band is called Unseelie and they generally create gothic music, while I was trying to find more information about them I came across an interesting status on their Facebook page for their newer listeners, they shared a song and video of “Le Glas d’un RĆŖve” stating that it was an older song and it was inspired by the Wounded Knee tragedy in the US. They also said it’s one of the very few songs in French! I thought that was pretty cool!

And lastly, I have to add a DJ on the list. Cedric Gervais is a French DJ and I thought he was from England! I always think they’re British! First off and let me say how much of hunk this guy is, yummy! Okay, back to the music part. You’ve probably heard him featured in Odesza’s remix of “Say My Name” featuring Zyra. I remember vividly listening to that album and falling in love with this remix, now I hear it almost twice a day. It was even up for a Grammy this past year! Cedric is another good DJ that I know I’ll keep an eye out in the near future!

How much French music do you listen to? Who should I add in next year’s posts?Ā

Arthrogryposis Awareness Day!

amc

Howdy!

We’re getting close to that date! Usually I start posting to spread the word for Arthrogryposis awareness day pretty early in the month, but I’ve decided to wait a bit this year. I figured If I had more time to get this post ready, I’d actually make it interesting enough for more people to join!Ā I always try to have a reminder post and little fliers on my social medias if anybody wanted to pass it along to their friends and family. By the next day or so, I have another post publish about the outcome of it and include a collage of pictures that people had sent me of them wearing blue to show their support of my condition Arthrogryposis! This time I am thinking about writing about it for my Bloggeration August piece!

What is Arthrogryposis? –Ā If you’re new to this blog and don’t know what my condition is exactly. The medical term as a whole is Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita. It’s a joint disease that starts in the womb. It’s caused from the fetus not being able to move around. So my arms are bent at the elbow and locked in place. My legs are also very skinny; I essentially have no or very littleĀ muscles in my arm, hand and leg areas. It’s the reason why I use my feet for everything because my hands and fingers can’t do anything else.

How you can show your support! –Ā Every year since 2013, I have been celebrating with my fellow AMCers in wearing the color BLUE! That first year, I knew about it but I forgot to have my mom change my shirt and/or pants! Oops! My whole family tries to blue on the 30th and so can you! If you don’t have anything blue in your closet but jeans is fine with me! I’ve even had people paint their nails blue because they didn’t have anything else!

If you want to, I have a little flier on my Facebook page that you can use to spread the word to your friends and family. If they want more information about the condition, you can send this post to them!

Tag Me! –Ā If you do decide to post a picture of yourself on Facebook or Twitter, please tag me in it so I can see that you’re supporting the cause! I’d really appreciate it if you could join the fun! Since I am planning on putting this piece on someplace besides my own blog, I’ll be cropping your head off so that nobody knows what you look like and just knows you supported the cause!

Hope you guys can celebrate with me on the 30th!

Thank you!

Album Review: “Last Year Was Complicated” by Nick Jonas

12670885_10153251276826642_2870526059204515820_nI am so excited that I get to review Nick Jonas’ new album Last Year Was Complicated I am really excited for new music by this Jonas Brother because he is my favorite of the three or four, any way you want to look at it. Anyways, I’m still loving the first single “Close” with Tove Lo, but I figured this would be another one album I’d have to wait and purchase sometime soon, but now I don’t (I will one day!) because they’re all on his YouTube channel! Whoohoo for me!

We’re starting the album with the track called “Voodoo” and as I was writing this post, I had already listened to the song over seven times. I like it, its a nice way to begin an album. It’s upbeat and has an interesting beat. One of the things I’ve started to like about Nick Jonas is that his sound is different from his time with Jonas Brothers and his brother’s group DNCE. It sounds more mature and kind of soulful. It’s unique for him. The second is called “Champagne Problems” and titles like these that remind me that he’s not this little brother we remember him being years ago, this song kind of has this mature, edgy, but classic sound to it. His voice makes it too. It’s pretty good!

Third is the first single “Close” featuring Swedish singer Tove Lo. I love this song! When I first heard it, I didn’t think it would be the opening to this new album promo, I just thought it was another bonus single from his previous album like “Levels” but when I looked it up and saw that he was releasing a new album, I was so excited! This song makes me so happy. I have a hard time keeping myself from dancing or swaying in my case, it’s hot! It has an exotic tone with the introduction but it is so good! I remember hearing the next song “Chainsaw” a little bit after and my initial reaction was that I didn’t like it. So to hear it again after a couple of months, I thought maybe I’d have a different opinion about it. I have to say, it’s the perfect breakup song. I actually like it and I don’t know why I didn’t like it before. It does sound a bit plain, but it’s good. You can clearly hear his voice and story he’s telling so that’s good enough for me!

This next song “Touch” has a nice, poppy sound with the added acoustic guitar in the introduction. Have I mentioned how much I love Nick’s falsetto voice? I don’t normally like guys’ voices that high but I think I’m in too deep to deny it. However, now that I say that, I don’t necessarily like the song in general. Now I remember reading through the track list and seeing the title called “Bacon” and I was like, what the hell? And then I heard it… well technically watched the music video and I don’t like bacon as much as everybody else, but this is a great song! I absolutely love it. It’s a little slow, kind of plain and then when the chorus starts all you hear is the bass drop and it’s like, okay this just got better! It features rapper Ty Dolla Sign, surprisingly, his section works well with the whole song! This has become a favorite of mine! You might even see it on June’s Playlist next week!

The seventh track of the album is called “Good Girls” and I thought this would be a dirty song when I first saw the title, a part of me was right apparently! Despite having a more sexy undertone, it’s very classy and almost elegant in how it sounds. This features another rapper Big Sean and again, it works with the direction of the song. Eighth is “The Difference” which again I pictured in my head to be this slow song and it ended up having a more electronic sound, still has that pop music elements so it’s not too much into the EDM vibe. It’s a pretty good song.

We’re getting towards the end of the album! “Don’t Make Me Choose” is gorgeous! It is so soulful and even though the beat sounds like the underbelly of Ā another one of his songs, “Jealous” other than this is exactly what I thought it would be about–lyrically. This might become another favorite! Next are the last three songs starting with Ā “Under You” which has a new music video out now! This is a nice, upbeat sound. It has a nice groove, but in ways I don’t like it. There’s always one song out of the whole thing that you’re not going to like and I think I’ve found mine. Next up is “Unhinged” and I am sooo happy that it is a ballad! I love when it’s just him and a piano! He’s got a voice that works with every sound of instrument but this combination is beautiful! It’s my ultimate favorite right now! And lastly, we have “Comfortable” and it’s another slow one, but it has a hip hop vibe. It starts off slow but then all of a sudden the beat picks up tempo and I actually like it a lot!

I was really surprised about this album. I didn’t want it to be better to his 2014 release but now that I’ve heard both, I think they’re both similar in lyrics and the initial sound. I think withĀ Nick JonasĀ it was mostly about life and love, whereas this is about life, music, love, friendships, and breakups. Clearly this album is about his relationship with Olivia Culpo leading up to everything, so I think both are good. It’s really great that somehow they manage to stand alone. I loved it!

Have you listened to Nick Jonas new album “Last Year Was Complicated” yet? If you have, what are your favorites and/or maybe what do dislike about it?

Tune Tuesday | England 2016

tunetues2016

Hey guys!

So this whole post is going to be about England, which as you all should know is one of my favorite places! Another cool thing about this post is that all acts I’ll be discussing, you’ve probably never heard of but who knows, you guys might’ve heard of a couple or maybe all three – who knows!

The first one is Kano. Now I recently found out about Kano through the show on Viceland calledĀ NoiseyĀ and I seriously love this show! It’s brought a new light to what I call music. It mainly talks about rap music, but they did go to Las Vegas and talk about EDM and how big it’s managed to get and these DJs are getting so much feedback from all sorts of people. It was really interesting, but the one episode I liked the most and made me see the “ugliness” of it was when Zach and the crew went to London and talked to the rappers there. The hip hop there is actually not as old as ours, I mean American hip hop and rap music in general is like probably over 30 years old. Grime, what the British call their hip hop genre is like under 20 years old.

While watching the episode, the music and rappers do give you that old school vibe but it’s heavier and some of it can be very dark too. I’m not going to lie, it’s a little strange to hear a rapper speaking in a British accent. I have nothing against it, I’m just not used to it. Kano was the one that I liked and was pulled closer towards in the episode so that’s why I’m including him into this post.

The next is a band, we’re moving out of the rap and into the rock genre now. Counterfeit is a group of guys made up of Tristan Marmont, Roland Johnson, Jimmy Craig, Sam Bower and his brother Jamie Campbell Bower! Anyways, these guys are pretty good. They were originally called “The Darling Buds” but changed their name in December and started to finally release tracks through their new band name Counterfeit. It says on their band’s Facebook page that they are more punk-thrash type of band. I’m ready to hear more of their songs and maybe they’re do a tour here in the US too!

Last one is RAIGN and I got into her around the same time as I found Zella Day, Laurel, and Banks. Her music was featured on Vampire Diaries just like the other girls. I really love her stuff. She’s got a beautiful voice and I want to put her in the alternative genre because her music doesn’t sound very pop ordinated but it is very dark and gives you this overwhelming calm feeling as you listen to it just like with Laurel and Banks too!

Do you listen to any of these acts I’ve listed above? What are your favorite English musicians?
