July Playlist.

movies

Hey guys,

I did something that I sort of told myself I’d do back in May, and that was actually write out my full playlist for the month. Everytime I’d go to type up the monthly playlist, I would literally open it up almost every other day. It got to a point where it was like a chore, so I needed to change it up before I gave up on it altogether! So I got out my notebook and post it notes and secured a page out in the back for the songs I loved during July! Even though I did open this post almost every three days or so, at least I’m trying to get a big batch together before I go and open it again..

As far as the song of the month, I honestly thought I’d say it would a band of the month because for the beginning part was full of Imagine Dragons. I found their new DVD of their 2015 World Tour on MTV Live two days shy of July 4th and now I’m obsessed! It’s kind of like what happened in March with Celtic Woman. I mean, I just couldn’t get enough. To keep the theme going though, it is Gavin DeGraw’s new single “She Sets The World On Fire”. I couldn’t stop listening to it for two days straight! It’s my chill out summer song, speaking of which I would like to ask for your summer anthems! It can be for this year or any other year that you can remember. I should have a summer playlist coming late August or early September. I like to wait until the end of summer to make my selection.

Staying Overnight Essentials.

13754175_1171855626212099_8362269197639468646_n

Howdy folks!

Recently I had what my nana liked to call it a little vacation. We didn’t necessarily go anywhere special, well I did, but not up north and stay in a hotel for a couple of days. So I guess, we had what normal people would say a staycation?!

We did something similar like this last year when my parents went to a bike rally in late July. We had this set up for a couple of months, I want to say around late April my mom stayed talking with my Aunt Laurie on what weekend it was and for them to come down to watch me. I can only go to Plummer as it has less hills and one main gravel road. As the days came closer and closer, my excitement kind of shot up because it is like a vacation for me because I get out of the house for a couple of nights and sleep over at my nana’s house.

Before all of this though, I got the idea of getting a little essentials that I needed for the four and a half days there. I thought it would be a cute, but small blog post to start off! Next time I’ll finish with what all happened from Friday afternoon to Monday afternoon!

Staying overnight has always been a little bit different from when my cousins would stay at our house, they wouldn’t bring much with them. If you have a disability like me, you’ll bring more baggage with you! And you can’t help it of course! I’m pretty sure bringing my wheelchair, whatever type it is, whether it’s my electric or manual chair is the most essential out of everything listed below. I usually sleep with a fan so I borrowed my Uncle David’s fan that he keeps over there, because like me he cannot sleep without a fan!

I had a list of what I needed to bring first, which had the second most important pillow and blanket. I took my Christmas fleece blanket as I figured I would get hot in the middle of the night and didn’t want to suffer in my Transformers blanket. The only bad part was that since I tend to sleep with my blanket right at my ears, and by the time I had it where I wanted it to be it was too short and I couldn’t cover up my feet…

The other stuff that I needed were my elbow pads, we had an extra set so I could bring them but it got too hot with them on and I actually didn’t wear them afterwards. I slept on the couch and my little elbows weren’t even touching the cushions or putting any pressure on them. It was a bit odd. Anyways, Ibuprofen was another all important essential as I figured I’d be in a lot of pain after scooting on the floor; nana’s has carpet from the ’70s and it is rough getting through in a wheelchair and just on your bottom! Surprisingly, I only had to take two tablets on Sunday, I think my body had had enough and was pretty drained from all of the movement I’d done the last few days.  Lastly, deodorant, which is very important after the amount of sweat I had every night!

These next bunch of stuff is what I like to call, the “less important, but activity worthy” essentials! Two things that are not pictured above are my iPod and headphones. My headphones literally quit working on me like the day after we got back home. So they got me through the whole weekend. Thank God!

I took this picture the day before I left, so I should point out that I didn’t take my red notebook there or the floral pencil-case on the left. Inside the orange folder are my coloring pages (that we almost threw away!) and I knew my nana had a box of colored pencils so I could use hers if I wanted to! I originally had plans to do some blog work that weekend, but my mom basically left my notebook and laptop at home the whole weekend and I really liked the detox away from them. I did have my pen, but like I said I didn’t really need it! The only thing I really used was my book. I ended up finished reading it Sunday evening and my cousin “Mayo” brought the first three books of the Harry Potter series to let me read them too.

So what do you think of my overnight supplies? What is the one item that you take everywhere with you?

Tune Tuesday | India 2016

tunetues2016

Hello!

I’m back with another week of Tune Tuesday and this time we’re back in a country that I really love – India! Even though I love the country and its culture and music too! It is really hard to find any music from there!

When the show Quantico was just starting to appear as promo on TV I was hearing more and more about Priyanka Chora. She does a great job as Alex on the show but I didn’t know she was also a singer! You should have seen my face when I finally realized it. It took me a bit, I’m not going to lie! I’ve found she does a lot of pop and even some electronic dance music here and there. She already has a deep voice to begin with and it’s nice that it doesn’t change to a falsetto pitch whenever she sings; it gives her more character I think! She has a lot of different singles and they’re actually really good. I’m really surprised!

Do you know any Indian musicians that you think I should check out?

Vegas | On The Road Again…

Howdy!

So I am finally starting on the Las Vegas blog posts! HOORAY! Now I should probably say this flat-out that I did not go, my sister and her fiancée went there with a group of his friends as a birthday celebration (of course!) and I get the joy of talking about almost everything of their trip!

Last year, they went to Hawaii for a week and my sister had so many pictures and information about it, that those posts required a few days in between them. This time, despite being there for the same amount of time, the quantity of photos are a little less. Blondie and Brandon and his friend Allen left for their very long drive to Las Vegas the day after my papaw’s birthday! And since we went looking through different stuff of my papaw’s, my sister found this gold key chain of a train and she ended up taking it along as if papaw was really with them!

One of the differences from their time in Hawaii is that instead of flying there, they decided to drive… Guess whose idea this was? My sister! According to my mom’s friend she said that if you take the Red-Eye from Indianapolis to Las Vegas, it costs about $39! After getting through Kansas, everybody realized how BAD of an idea it was to drive! However, they did get some pretty interesting photos of the different places in the five states they went through. From seeing snow on top of mountains in Colorado to nothing but dry heat and desert in Utah and Nevada!

It took them about two or three and a half days to get to their destination! They stopped through Denver, Colorado for a night and went back on the road again but stopped while in Green River, Utah and took some amazing pictures. In some of them below, you almost get the feel they just pulled over and got out to stretch their legs a bit! Whatever the reason, the views were pretty cool! After all that driving they finally made it to their hotel. Blondie said on a photo that Brandon treats her like a princess that they were staying in a castle, and by the pictures she wasn’t kidding! They stayed at the Excalibur!

I think that’s all I’m going to talk about for today! Next week, I’ll go into more details of what they did even though they were broke before they’re first day there! Hope you guys enjoyed this post!

Have you went to Las Vegas? What is better flying there or driving and seeing all these different environments?

Book Review: “Red Queen” by Victoria Aveyard

22328546

Hey guys,

Okay, so as you can see I have read and finished a book this year! My first book of 2016! That..honestly doesn’t sound so exciting, but for me, it is! I didn’t (nor did my mom) think that I would go back to reading books. I say it a lot, but I need to start reading again. I really do! Coloring and reading keeps me away from my laptop and makes me take a break for an hour! And I think we all need those moments!

I’m a bit off subject, am I? Sorry about that!!

I found this book a few weeks ago, at the start of the month. It was at Walmart at a reduced price of $9.34; the original was $10.99. I knew it was on my TBR list, but I didn’t think I’d actually purchase a book. I should have grabbed the second while I had the chance! It’s okay though, I’m borrowing my cousin’s Harry Potter books at the moment!

I think I should come out and say, I’ve never read a book or series where the girl is the hero. I’ve only watched the movies where it’s like that! I know, I’m bad! I was a bit worried if I would like that or not, but from the time I started reading I kind of got sucked into it.

The story is of Mare Barrow who is a Red. She lives in a small village called the Slilts with other Reds like her and Silvers. Mare lives with her family, mother and father and younger Gisa who works in the square and three brothers, all fighting in the war.

Mare has one friend named Kilorn and he has a sticky situation. His master has died and now he has no job and is being the next to send off to war, but she has the idea of being smuggled out of the village by another friend Will, who is a local merchant. In the mist of finding a way out, she meets Farley, an important figure of The Scarlet Guard, a rebellious group of Reds fighting for equality from the royal and noble Silvers. In their escape plan to work, things go absolutely wrong and Mare runs away to the river and meets a strange, but warm person who she tries to pickpocket before heading home. Instead of yelling “thief” for everyone to hear, he learns more about her, but she only learns of his name Cal.

Everything is divided by their blood. She has red blood whereas others have silver-metallic blood. That’s not all that makes them special, they have “powers” different abilities like the controlling of elements: fire, water, and some of them can do things to you with their mind.

The land is ruled by a Silver king, Calore Tiberas, who has the power of fire. He’s wife Elara, is a whisper, she can go inside your mind and tell you do things against your will. He has two sons, Calore is his oldest and heir from his first first wife Queen Coriane, who was a singer. They can sing their way into making things happen. Youngest is Maven, who is the son of Elara and also shares his father and older brother’s power of pyro. The king is holding the Queenistral, which is for the nobles to offer up their daughters to the boys. Evangeline is the biggest candidate to be chosen and gets a chance to show off her powers in front of everyone and in the mist, something special happens to the least expected person there: Mare.

This is a good sci-fi, royalty book. I think it has the essences of Game Of Thrones, The Hunger Games and a bit of X-Men too. Trust me, once you start it, I’ll want to find out everything that happens! Everytime I thought would happen, didn’t and I loved that! I was always second guessing myself and I felt Mare was like that too, especially towards the end. I’m still reeling about the damn ending! Ugh!

Have you read Victoria Aveyard’s debut yet? If you have, what were your thoughts about it?
