Life Lessons From “The Big Bang Theory”

Howdy!

We all have movies and/or television shows that we all know and love dearly, but have we ever been so inspired by them that we start to see life lessons within them? The answer is yes, but we’re not always open about it.

Sometime last year, The Big Bang Theory became one of the biggest shows for my family. My nana started watching it every once in a while, but it was when my mom started to watch it on accident. You know if one likes the show, the other will follow and he definitely did not disappoint. My dad loves this freaking show! It’s enough to actually creep somebody out too, because you could think he was in bed asleep until he hear him cackle up a storm! And sometime afterwards I followed suit and now I am making my way through the episodes on our DVR!

So I was wondering whether or not, if there are any life lessons with this exact show and surprisingly, there are a few of them! I hope you all enjoy this and if you have any more to add, let me know in the comments!

1.) Patience Exists.

For anybody who believes that “patience is virtue” you know I’m right about this when it comes to the characters of The Big Bang Theory!

Crazy enough, every single character has experienced it throughout the lives on the show! For example, Leonard and Penny, hello! He asked her to marry him a total of four times (some in awkward situations!) but she always told him no and then finally they get married in Las Vegas! This also works for Howard and Bernadette as well, as Howard was always the creepy, sexual friend of the four of them! You did not think he’d be the first to be married off, but he was!

Another way this works is Raj, he could not talk to women in the beginning. Poor guy having to rely on Howard to voice his hilarious comments whenever Penny or any other woman was in the room.  Thankfully, he’s finally able to discuss things in front of women and even found a girlfriend or two, once at the same time!

2.) Alcohol Is Always Needed!

To add to the last bit above, I watched the episode where Penny learns how to be a mixologist for her job at the Cheesecake Factory, and she makes drinks for all of the guys (except Sheldon of course!) and when she makes Raj a grasshopper, the poor man only has one sip before he just spills his emotions out to her which freaks everybody out, Penny included! I think she was more shocked than anything else!

I think there are a lot of people who hate how Penny is drinking in almost every episode but we also have to understand that if she didn’t have the alcohol she would have slugged Howard a long time ago!

3.) Change Is Good (No matter what Sheldon thinks!)

This is also another biggie as Sheldon is known to hate change in all forms! However, I think overtime he’s slowly seen that “good” change exists as the idea for finding a possible mate for him could have been a hit and miss until he met Amy Farrah Fowler.

Once he realized he was in a relationship with her, I think you slowly see a change in him. He’s still pretty selfish when it comes to everything, but he does seem less annoying whenever she’s around! I mean, let’s be honest nobody thought he was going to have coitus or move in with her but those were good and necessary changes to be made for him as an individual.

4.) You Are Not Ugly!

I think one of the biggest messages on the show is that people who are engineers, scientists, physicists, etc are just as attractive as anybody else! There’s more to them then they’re big paychecks.

I think besides the guys, both Bernie and Amy have very classic style compared to Penny. I’m still trying to figure out how Bernie’s choice of clothes isn’t as big of a topic than Amy. However, in defense of Bernadette, Amy does look like somebody in the 1950-60’s, which is totally fine. I mean, if it doesn’t bother Sheldon than everybody can go suck it!

5.) Nerds Rise!

Thanks to the never-aging characters of the show, anybody can be able to be a nerd freely. Unfortunately, I’m not into the comics but I love how much of the nerd community is represented. You hardly ever see comic book stores anymore and this show has them! You see how important some of these comics are to the characters. I still don’t think I’d ever risk one during a bet, ever! The reason why is it doesn’t matter who wins or loses, somebody will likely forget they even have it in their possession.

I love the episode where the girls go to the comic book store just to see why they’re significant others are so interested in them. I chose the gif above because Penny’s reaction to Thor is an equivalent’s to any man looking at a cover of a mutant woman with huge breasts.  Good luck telling me I’m wrong!

Are you a fan of The Big Bang Theory? Who are your favorite character(s)? Can you tell me a scene that makes you laugh every single time?

Blondie’s Bridal Shower!

18556411_10202948870600842_2193993677375556609_n

Hello! 🙂

Three weekends ago, I mentioned on my outfit of the day post that I went to my sister’s bridal shower! It was exciting and a bit nerve-wrecking to say the least, because most of us waited until like the last minute to figure out what exactly we were going to do while there, like what kind of decorations and games we were going to play. Blondie and Brandon came up with some of the decorations months earlier, but I think a few things will be used for their reception at the actual wedding.

When we got there, we were greeted by their cat Samuel just chilling on a towel in front of the door. Thank god the door opens towards you otherwise he would have been hit. He’s kind of lucky he didn’t get run over either! A few of the bridesmaids Sam, Jayde, Skyela and Alli were there already. Sam and Blondie were in the little kitchenette cooking the beef and chicken for the Taco Bar. The cats kept trying to steal pieces of ice out of the bucket Brandon b18556333_10202948868520790_8267943436613421614_nought to keep the mini water bottles cold the entire time.

The shower was the first time my mom and I to finally meet some of Brandon’s family. I’ve actually been excited to meet his mom since probably last year. I know she’s not my mother-in-law but I still wanted to meet her! He had his mom, sisters, cousin, aunt and grandma there. I felt bad for him in ways, he basically stayed in his “man cave” through most of the shower playing his new video game; that part he probably wasn’t too sad about that! He did come out for one of the games though. When we played The Newlywed Game. I had asked him questions two days before so we could make signs and I realized that not only do I suck at bubble letters that I really need to invest on using my clipboard more since I now have green little dots all over my new cutting board. It’s for my blogging photography, don’t freak out on me too much!

His mom, brought down some very adorable pictures of when he was a baby and toddler for the party game “Guess What Age I Am” and don’t worry, mom found some very cute photos of Blondie when she was younger too! My dad and I had to glue them onto some paper and I wrote what age might’ve been in each one. I say “might’ve” because I had a hard time thinking back how old she really was for each year! I sat between both of my grandma’s, it was the first outing my nana has done since her whole health scare. She seemed18581601_10155343778247520_3354911898878346185_n to enjoy it since Otis basically flooped down into her lap when she first got into the apartment! Nana failed at guessing Blondie’s age in each picture, while my grandma (dad’s mom) and I won a fair amount on Brandon’s. I guess I can’t tell between a few months and a year old!

I was very proud of myself. I joined in on the fun with the games. When everybody was first showing up, they were asked to write out a memory of them and the bride-to-be and since I couldn’t figure out a single memory to share, I decided to say which one and have her guess which guest it is. Apparently I didn’t understand the rules very well, because as Blondie was failing to guess the right person, I thought it was only right to help her out but I kept getting yelled at by our mother because I was giving out hints. To the ones she couldn’t guess right, they were given prizes. It wasn’t until we were on our way home that I figured it that out and then I felt like a dumbass! Anyways, the memories were funny and I thought were better than what we both thought would happen. The last one was probably the “worst” out of all of them because it had to do with her drinking! Poor thing, three grandmothers in the room and she thought she was free from them hearing anything bad! Wrong!

18622914_10202953825844720_22095171_nBack in March Blondie and I had looked on Pinterest for different ones. I found quite a neat games, I kind of thought we could play a Disney related game since the theme of the wedding is half Disney princesses and half Batman, like no joke! Just look at their cake topper that Brandon found on Etsy at the picture above! I will link the different games we played here: The Newlywed Game and What’s In My Phone or use the alternative What’s In My Purse?

I definitely had a fun time! I was in a lot of pain by the time it was all over with though so that part sucked! Poor Chipper sent the weekend at the vet while his brothers were having the time of their lives with the guests. Gru and Otis crashed on a few laps, Samuel begged for taco meat from my mother, but little Tonif chilled out underneath the bed the whole time until she bravely went out into the living room and was stunned of the amount of people and did a U-turn back into the bedroom, she almost hit her back legs on the doorway! I’m thankful Blondie didn’t start crying when that happened! I went back over the Monday afterwards and she seemed more relaxed, even let me pet her which does not happen very much!

Hope you all enjoyed the post! Next will be about the Bachlorette Party!

OOTD: Wonder

18601593_10202953827004749_622706510_n

Howdy!

Today is the day that the new Wonder Woman movie comes out starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen! This post is not sponsored, I just bought a new WW shirt and decided to publish the outfit post because it felt right!

This will also my second DC superhero T-shirt that I have in my closet after the Batman shirt that my mom swore was apart of Marvel – you should have seen her face when I told her that Wonder Woman wasn’t part of it either! Anyways, I bought it when I got the other shirt at Walmart; I don’t remember if I had mentioned it in my last post that I found both of the shirts in the men’s section because half the time when I purchase tops they don’t fall off my shoulders! The necklines are so nice to me!

The shirt is mostly in different shades of gray, but has a comic version of Wonder Woman on the front. She’s located right in the middle of the shirt, she’s basically the only colored part of my shirt. She has her red and gold colors that everybody is familiar with. My mom made the comment as soon as I looked down on my arms, “well, one hand is covering up her face and the other has her hoochie!” Thankfully whenever I move my arm over on the armrest you can actually see her face, which makes me feel better! I can’t do much about the arm because it’s too low!

Now my pants are a pair of leggings I found on accident, they weren’t located in the regular section. They were in the middle of the walk way between the little boys and shoe sections! Out of all the leggings there, I only grabbed one because we were worried that they didn’t wash well, it was too strange for them to be there so my mom and I were having a hard time taking them seriously! Anyways, they’re a nice solid blue, on the left sleeve there is the word “Fearless” in caps and I always want to wear them with my superhero shirts and I think this one works well with them!

The cats in the background are eating leftover french fries and in the last picture, that was my sister’s arm on the side!

What do you think of this outfit? Yay or nay? Are you going to see Wonder Woman this weekend?

Movies I Want To See In 2016 | First Half

movies

One of the things I mostly get excited for is the new movies that are coming out! I usually never go out to the theaters or anything, but it’s the build-up of these new films and your favorite actors/actresses playing these characters that really excite me! After 2014’s flop of new movies I had seen, I really wanted to watch as many as I could in 2015, plus any specials like Flesh And Bone on Starz and documentaries like Sinatra: All Or Nothing and Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck on HBO. I was pretty proud on what I allowed myself to watch and be dedicated for a couple of hours.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to watch all of the movies I looked forward to seeing in 2015. I still like to hold out and maybe they’ll turn up on some of our movie channels. I finally got to watch The Avengers: Age Of Ultorn on Starz. They premiered it on January 22nd! I’m hoping Starz or HBO airs Age Of Adaline so I don’t have to ask anybody to rent it out for me. What am I doing? This post is supposed to be about the films coming out this year! Since I loved doing these posts last year, I’ve decided to separate them out in equal parts. This will be for the ones being released in January to June 2016!

Dirty Grandpa (January 22nd) starring Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, and Julienne Hough

I don’t know how my sister would be so lucky to get a Zac Efron movie to come out on her birthday, but oh well! I saw a picture advertising this new film on Facebook. Julienne Hough had posted a picture and a little bit about her character. It wasn’t until like two days later that I found the trailer while on YouTube and I realized how bad I wanted to see this! I think it’s going to be very strange Robert De Niro playing such a flirt with Zac Efron, but that’s just me!

The Choice (February 5th) starring Benjamin Walker and Teresa Palmer

I’ll be honest, I watched the trailer for this and I was really turned off by the concept of this story. Maybe it’s because I don’t believe in love at first sight. I think I’ve also watched my fair share of Nicholas Sparks inspired films that I’m just over it. I just want to watch it because it has Teresa Palmer in it!

Deadpool (February 12th) starring Ryan Renyolds and Morena Baccarin

Everybody has had this movie on their lists since the beginning of last year. I’m still confused though, I thought Deadpool was a villain. I mean has anybody else seen Wolverine: Origins before? He and Wolverine have at it towards the end… I think this film will be a mixture of funny and lots of action, which I love the most!

Fun fact: If I watch this, it’ll be my first movie I’ve watched with Ryan Reynolds in it!

Triple 9 (February 26th) starring Aaron Paul, Woody Harrelson, Norman Reedmus, and Kate Winslet

This is another movie I found by chance. I kind of fell in love with the trailer because it’s not about superheros or romance, it’s that “real” action and story line to it. I just want to see a movie with Norman Reedmus in it. I just want to see this guy act without all of the zombies, don’t judge me! It does look really good though!

Zootopia (March 4th) starring Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman

You can thank my friend Brittany for putting the trailer of this one on my Facebook the other day, I hadn’t even heard of it and of course now I want to see it! It just looks so cute! I’m not a big fan of sloths, but this trailer just cracked me up! I would be acting the same way that little bunny Judy was if somebody talked to me that slow!

Allegiant (March 18th) starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Miles Teller

I’ve officially caught up on these movies! Thank god! I’m really curious about the next stage of the storyline for Four and Tris. I want to know about what’s outside of the Wall and what are Evelyn’s intentions now that Jeannie is gone. I’m hoping this answers some questions for me, but I am super excited for the next installment to come out!

Superman vs. Batman: Dawn of Justice (March 25th) starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Even Peters, and Gal Gadot

I feel like I should have ended this list right here, because my excitement for this sucker is bigger than anything else! I honestly haven’t watched Man Of Steel since the end of 2014 because it effected me so much but I am really looking forward to seeing this purely because I want to see Ben Affleck prove EVERYBODY wrong as his role as Batman. Plus, Gal Gadot is playing “Wonder Woman” YES PLEASE! ♥

The Huntsman: Winters War (April 22nd) starring Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Emily Blunt, and Jessica Chastain

This is another one that has me all confused but apparently not enough that I didn’t leave it off the list! I have to say I loved Snow White and The Huntsman a lot! Mostly because of Charlize Theron playing this dark, evil character. Now I got two of them: Charlize and Emily Blunt. Two of my woman crushes in one movie, and on top of that you got Chris Hemsworth back playing the Huntsman. We finally get to see his character before he was sent off to find Snow White and what happened to his wife in the process. I don’t know if it’s a pre-squeal or not, I’m just excited!

Captain America: Civil War (May 6th) starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, and Scarlett Johannson

Time for a little Captain America/Iron Man action! I’m so freaking excited to see this movie! I’ll be wearing my Captain America shirt with pride the opening weekend. I can’t say anything else about this one!

X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27th) starring  James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender,  and Jennifer Lawrence

I’m really curious about this installment of the X-Men series! We finally get to see some of our favorites as younger/trying to learn to control their powers like Storm and Jean! I’m really stoked about the fact that Jubilee is being featured in the movie! When I was younger, I used to watch the cartoon episodes on Boomarang and she was my favorite character outside of Charles and Storm!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (June 3rd) starring Megan Fox, Will Arnett, and Stephan Arnell

The first film was amazingly good, like I’m being serious! It was also the movie my sister and I went to see in theaters. I’m pretty sure this was my choice because if Blondie had chosen it would have been a scary movie and I would have killed it even before the ending! Before this, I hadn’t been out to the movies since 2012. We weren’t raised on X-Men, TMNT, etc growing up. So we weren’t familiar with the franchise as everybody else.

Since we enjoyed the first film so much we’re actually looking forward to this next installment. I’m pretty sure we’ll be adding Brandon into our movie date, but that’s okay with me because he’s the one who sent the trailer to me! I didn’t even know that it was out yet. He sent it to me with a caption saying “The Flash is in it!” And you all think I’m superhero obsessed!!

Finding Dory (June 17th) starring Ellen DeGenres, Diane Keaton, and Ty Burrell

I loved Finding Nemo so much!! It’s such a cute, sad movie. I’ve seen those theories all over Facebook about the backstory of Nemo’s dad and Dory, but nonetheless it’s still adorable! Now that Dory’s getting her own movie, I’m a bit in the middle as I doubt it’ll stand up to Finding Nemo’s success but you never know!

Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24th) starring Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch, and Liam Hemsworth

This is also another film I’m feeling iffy about as I grew up with the original. My mom tried to save herself from what happened when I watched Men In Black the first time. Let’s just say between the both of them, I was not a fan of aliens. I still cringe at certain scenes in both films! I am glad that Jeff and Judd are back in the reboot, but would it better with Will Smith? Absolutely! Can I settle for Liam Hemsworth instead? Why did I just ask myself that question when I already know the answer? 😀

What are some of the movies you’re looking forward to seeing in the first six months of 2016?

Waiting For Superman.

In August 2012 I had published a small, but I think a powerful speech about accepting beauty, even if I did use the X-Men movies as my inspiration for it. In my post, that I happily titled Mutant and Proud, I explained about what it felt like being taken out of an environment that I was familiar with and put in another one that was to save my life. Without repeating myself again by using some of the same things I talked about in that post. I thought I’d elaborate a little bit more on what I tend to think about when I watch pretty much all of the superhero movies. Starting with how I started thinking about only after watching Man Of Steel the other day for the first time. My first time ever watching a Superman related movie in my life and I would burst into tears while watching the beginning of it, but before I get into the reason why I cried during one scene and was extremely happy that nobody came into my room at that time. I am going to explain something and then I want you to really think about what I have said, before you continue reading on.

Whenever you go to the movies, especially these action movies. For certain subjects, you know they exist but you try to ignore them. You might be like me and actually attempt to stay away from the News on both your TV and internet. I know when I hear about certain subjects I get very sad and I can’t do anything about it, but pray. For some people, it inspires them to become actors and actresses or sometimes whether the movie has a good or bad outcome in it, it inspires them to want to become whatever character they found to be the most related for them. I am a twenty something young adult that watches these movies like Soul Surfer and Dolphin Tale and come out still crying after realizing I’ve felt like Bethany Hamilton at one time or another. Heck, even that Dolphin and I could bond over our hardships that happened to us in our lives. For me though, I couldn’t just watch those movies and find my release and be done with it. No, I have to over analyze some of these superhero movies and instead of being like every normal woman and drool over the actors, I have to go into a mini depression over things I can’t change. Again. So when I was at my nana’s yesterday I wondered to myself and I even asked her, if because these little kids that have physical and/or mental disabilities dress up in their favorite superhero costumes and go to comic con. Are they really in love with the fact that they’re superheros or is it because these people are kind of like them and know what they’ve felt like at one point in their life? I mean, yes, I do know these are fictional characters, but these feelings that say out loud, do they know the outcome of what they’ve really said. Especially if a viewer has something different about them?

In the scene where Clark Kent, where they’re doing flashbacks when he was younger, where the school bus goes off the bridge and into the water. Clark saves all of the kids and one of the kids’ and his mom come over to Clark’s house to speak with his parents about the incident. In the last parts of that scene where Clark’s father on Earth goes out to talk to him and when Clark asks why people would be afraid of him. Jonathon Kent says to him, “people are afraid of what they don’t understand.”  I’ve actually heard that line out of some of my family members before. It might’ve been a little different but it had the same context and meaning to it. Another scene where Clark goes and traps himself in the janitor’s closet and his mother tries to coax him out and one of the last things he says to her is something that I have even asked myself plenty of times while growing up. He basically says to her, “What’s wrong with me, mom?” Now that I’m a little bit older, you would think that these things shouldn’t bother me as much as they did back then. I wish I could say that was true, but sadly it’s not. I am very much on the edge of my emotions even at my age. That scene brought out ever old memory and I just kind of let it out. I have accepted my will to love myself for who I am, but believing somebody on the street would be a totally different story.

Nobody understands your journey but yourself. I mean, you’re the only one who has lived that life and you alone are the creator of what you decide to it. You can be what the world makes you out to be or you can change what that person on the street thinks about you. After watching both Wolverine: Origins and Captain America, I kind of thought about these characters and how they each got there in their lives. Logan had the claws, but not the steel ones until Stryker injected that liquid stuff into his body. So I thought about it a little bit after I watched that scene and I was thinking, Logan is made of steel or whatever pretty much. He heals quicker and it lives inside of him. My overactive mind basically told me that I was kind of like him in a way, as I have my metal rods in my back and pins in my hips keeping the rods in place. The thing about Steve Rogers is a little funny actually, I remembered even before I had my surgeries on my back that my mom had told me about how there was a surgery that they could do to take muscles from my back and inject them into my legs and arms. Thinking about it now, just makes me laugh because I know there would be no way in hell that I’d look as good as Steve after he gets injected with that serum. Even I know that, but only I can make fun of myself for putting the two together. Something that my nana and I talked about was that I am already like Storm in a sense. I know when the weather is changing because my entire body changes right along with it.

When I was done watching MOS my mom came in and asked me if I liked it or not. I was very truthful with her and I told her that I cried, and as she was giving me that look of “why?” I immediately wanted to take it back. It is so difficult for people to understand what you feel like on a daily basis. If you’re like me, you’re always looking for somebody that is like you in some way. My problem is now is that I know I’m not alone and even though at times I think I am alone, but that’s only because I have let myself believe there’s nobody out in the world who knows what I’ve been through in my life. We all have issues, you know. Loki had daddy and brother issues. I have issues with people in general. And it’s usually because my mind has put this little lie in my head that I can’t do much so why try? I think the best way to end this is by using probably one of the best quotes from MOS movie. It was when Jonathon was to Clark, “You just have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be, Clark. Whoever that man is, he’s going to change the world.” I have been told that a couple of times in my life too. There may not be real superheros, but we have our favorite superheros living inside of us. We are all superheros, because we inspire others. My favorite superhero is Captain America, who is yours?
