100 Word Challenge For Adults – “April”

1212310211

I didn’t do the last prompt, because nothing would come to me at all.. Actually nothing wanted to come for me everytime I went on here last week! This is an “easy” prompt, it’s just one word. Am I the only one who saw this word and instantly the song from Bambi started playing in your head?

Spring may start in March but nothing really blossoms and the temperature doesn’t warm up until the middle of April. This month makes me think of the color pink – not a hot pink, but a nice pastel shade The only way I can explain what I feel in this month is when a baby is born. Everything is new and things will slowly but surely change drastically. You want to get out and explore just like a newborn learning how to crawl. The sun is warm like a mother’s embrace and the smell of BBQ is better than baby food.

100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups: “And So It Begins”

I’ve been meaning to do this writing challenge for a while. I’ve seen some of my other blogging/writer friends do this challenge too! I just need something new that’s weekly and I think this would be good for me. So I hope you enjoy! If you want to join in, click the image down below and add your blog link to the original post. The prompt is:

“…and so it begins.”

And so it begins, they are awakened by the bright sun shining through the drapes, The time on the clock was six o’clock, it rang three separate times. Fresh brewed coffee drips through the filter, down into the dispenser, waiting for somebody to pour it into their mug. Sugar coated cereal and milk spills into four small bowls, each one with a spoon placed at the side. The sounds of stomping feet comes across from different areas of the house, upstairs and down, their faces are covered with wrinkles and tired eyes. They were dressed and ready for the day.

This week: FALLING

The ball and chain, heavy and small.
The crash between each wave hurt like a ton of bricks, it never gave me a chance to pray.
I sank down slowly, still struggling to break fee from the chains across my body pulling me down into the waters.
The water pressure increasing the will to hold in any breath I took before my fall, I could feel my cheeks turn red and lips groan as they start to twitch to open.
I continued to go down until I heard a faint rumble below me and the sand floor turn into a thick dust that floated and swirl around my body; I thought as my body hit the ground that this would be my final resting place and nobody would care about my un-timing death or how I ever got in this position in the first place, as I closed my eyes I begin to hear my heartbeat and it cradled me into a deep sleep.

This week: HORIZON

From down at the bottom, it’s dark and the air is musky.
Last night’s rain created a small slippery slope on the trip up.
Mud covered our boots with a thick brown stain, the smell was unbearable as we continued to walk through the puddles, some of us mistakenly took mud over poop.
The trail up the mountain was step and since the sun was slowly coming up from the night sky, the temperature was still fairly low.
When we finally got to the top, the mountain was dry, the air was clear and fresh, and seeing the lightly dim stars behind us with the bright sun making its horizon ahead was so beautiful to be able to witness both evolutions at once.
