Dutch symphonic metal band Delain has released a new music video to go with their first single off their EP called LunarPrelude. The single is called “Suckerpunch” and I have to say, I’ve been listening to the band since late 2012 and I always look forward to the new things from the band, but I think it was all routine! Because I am seriously stoked for the EP and the album to be released later this year!
When I heard “Suckerpunch” for the first time I realized it had a different sound than to their other songs on previous albums. I think of Delain as a good band, but could get better with evolution meaning their music could grow, become more like Nightwish and Epica. They seem to have a more mature sound with this song than maybe “We Are The Others” and “April Rain” where they had more of a mellow symphonic rock sound. I have to say, I love both of those songs but I was really impressed with this song! I still feel like the keys have that alternative edge, but the overall sound is more powerful especially with the roaring of background vocalists and orchestra. The band really outdid themselves with this song!
If you’ve been living underneath a rock but are still able to listen to Delain’s music, you might not know that the lineup has changed some in the last year. Don’t worry, it’s still Charlotte, Martjin, Otto, and Timo. The group has added both Ruben Israel on drums and Merel Bechtold on guitar. I knew about Merel becoming a new member of the group but not Ruben, so when I watched the music video, I was like, “oh, there’s a new drummer!” Anyways, the music video was sort of dull I guess you would say, but then again it’s not boring! I didn’t necessarily understand the concept of it. The one thing I actually liked was the shots of all the members of the group performing the song as they would live in front of a huge crowd. The flames shooting up in the air is a good heavy metal element. Kind of like the extreme handbanging throughout the whole thing! You need it or it’s technically not a metal song or video. Or that’s what some people might think or say about it!
Delain’s new EP releases February 19th!
Are you a Delain fan? What do you think of their single “Suckerpunch” and its music video?
How many of you have always wished to have a million dollars and then started listing off different things you would do with that amount of money you’d receive after the government takes out the taxes of it. Some would say give it to charity, others say move into a bigger house and have cooler cars. Everybody’s got their own wishes. My Papaw is always playing the lottery every week. He never misses it. Every Wednesday and Saturday, we know that sometime he’ll be calling in the mornings wanting for somebody to get his tickets and figure out if it’s the lucky ticket or not. In my family, we all have different things we want. I asked a two-part question on both my Facebook and Twitter and I got some responses, I know my Papaw wants to go back to Hawaii. My nana wants to go to San Diego and see the beach. My mom also wants to go to Hawaii too. Out of all of the responses I got from my Facebook and Twitter, nobody could have topped my Uncle David’s reply. He said he wanted to go anywhere that has a Pizza Hut. Technically I shouldn’t had wanted anything better than this kind of response because it defines my Uncle as he nicknamed the “Pizzaman” in our family. My blogger friends Aftab and Ella said they wanted to go to Bora Bora and New Zealand.
My nana and I were actually discussing about this, about what we would do if it ever happened. Honestly, I don’t want to win the lottery, because to me, it doesn’t matter how many things you get or go with the money, I don’t think you’ll ever be happy. Money doesn’t last forever, one way or another you’ll run out whether if you’re greedy and spending it all or being generous and giving it away. We were discussing about the one thing that we’d go to do it with the money and I indulged in the wish for a moment. Where would I go? I know I’ve done a bunch of posts about the travels on my bucket list, but if I could just go to one place, where would I go? It’s honestly a tough choice to make when everybody wants to travel the whole world, but when you think about distance and a place were you’d truly love and be able to enjoy yourself. I kind of had to separate this out a bit from being in the US and internationally. So to start off, I’d always wanted to be food tourist. I’ve watched too many shows and read too many blog posts to ignore myself from wanting to go to a place and just tour the different restaurants and bakeries. The first place I’d go to in the US is Portland, OR. I’ve just heard so many things about how the chefs there being really unique with their dishes but being able to stand out amongst the rest is difficult, that I’d like to just enjoy the different eats and then of course blog about it afterwards. Now internationally, my heart wants to go to Poland. Mostly to see my friend Ania but I want to learn all I can about her country too. If I couldn’t go there, I’d go to Ireland as my second best.
As I’ve mentioned, there was a second part we discussed. My nana and I are in wheelchairs. She has told me about this fan of Adam Lambert, basically paying out the wazoo for him to play a small concert for her and family and friends. So she’s always told me that if they ever won the lottery that she’d want somebody to do that for her and get Adam Lambert to play for her, but without all of the people in front of her and the screams of the crowd. So that leads into my next part. If you had a million dollars, and you could have a concert all to yourself or a normal gig with a big crowd, who would you chose? It can be alive or dead too. My friends Ania chose Queen but with only Freddie Mercury. Mandy had said she wants Stone Temple Pilots but only with Scott Weiland back as lead vocalist. I really liked my mom’s response as I figured she’d choose Prince, but she wants old Prince. Whether that means Prince & The Revolution? I have no idea. Honestly, if she ever got that I’d probably go with her. When my nana asked for my answer I actually took some time to think about it, because I love a lot of international bands. A lot of them never come close to me. So of course, I was thinking of distance. It wasn’t about which group was the furthest, but which one I love the most and who would put on a breath-taking show. My answer was clear, it would be Within Temptation. I’ve seen their live shows on YouTube and I get so memorized by the whole performance. The flames of pyro and the love you feel between the audience and members of the band. It just seems like a great choice!
So now it’s your turn, if you could choice any place and if you had the money to pay for it – where would you go? Plus, if you could see anybody live (alive or dead) who would you chose?
It has been a long freaking day. I mean that in a good way though, even if I had some flashbacks to last Christmas because I was around quite a lot of people. My parents, Blondie and I went to one of our friend’s birthday party for their little girl. She turned one this week so they celebrated it today at in the park we have in town. I have actually been looking forward to this party for about a month or two, because it’s actually a first for me! I’ve only been to baby showers, usually life takes me on separate paths that lead me to never seeing kids grow up. Now thanks to technology and Facebook, I can see them celebrate their birthdays with friends and family. It was a bit weird to actually go to one and be around a lot of people who I was not familiar with, but on the good side I didn’t feel like a burden throughout the whole afternoon!
The party originally started at four in the afternoon, but my mom wanted to get there an hour earlier to help them out a bit. My dad was there to visit and grill out. We had hot dogs, hamburgers, ribs, and baked beans on the grill. Before everything was to happen though, my mom fed me lunch because she had gotten up kind of late in the day. Once I was done with my food and two mini smoothies, I was waiting for my mom to come in and grab my plate and move my table over to the side. Well, first she had to bring in this cute little gray kitten. Last night, right after my mom and sister got home from work, they found Bootsie/Wren’s kittens. We don’t know which ones were from either cat. They found two at first, a calico kitty that only had these markings on its face and tail. Other than that, it was all white. The other one was like Grumpy and my ole buddy Ivan, my mom said “I’m seeing a trend here!” We don’t know what the sex of either one at the moment.
When my mom came in with the little gray one, she brought her into my room. This one we know is a girl. I was so hooked to her, she’s our little explorer because she wanted to do was move around all over my bed. I’ve named her Silver, because calling her “Gray” would remind me of Christian Grey too much. We found out that she’s our special kitty, her two front paws have an extra claw. So she has six little toes or whatever. Plus, she’s got this cute little outline of an “M” right above her nose. So after noticing that I decided to add “Moonlight” onto her name. She is named after one of my favorite songs by Within Temptation, “Silver Moonlight.” Next mom found the last one (so far!) and this one is fluffy. Like, really fluffy! We know this one is also a girl too, mom is in love with this cat. She likes to sleep in darkness. She liked to go underneath my blanket and then at the last of the visit she found her way inside of my pillow case. I had remind myself four times not to lie down. My mom wanted to name her something with “Princess” she wanted to go all Star Wars on me and call her “Princess Leila.” I said no. We agreed on “Belle” but once Blondie got home for work, she ended up changing it to “Kells” after her new favorite rapper, Machine Gun Kelly. We both had music on our brains, hopefully this time these names stick!
When we arrived at the party, people were just starting to get there and majority of the people who have been there for an hour was decorating the place up. Compared to both mine and Blondie graduation parties, this party was more decorated! I knew there were going to be little kids there, but I didn’t think I’d actually get overwhelmed by them. Everybody around me was having beers and here I was, miserable with a headache wanting to try my first beer! I didn’t though, my mom had gotten me a Code Red Mountain Dew before we left and that was my way of getting through. It wasn’t THAT bad! The kids were doing what kids do. They’re suppose to go a little wild while they’re around each other, but when it was lunch time or dinner time, whatever you want to call it. Everything started spinning in my head in a very fast pace! It literally made me think about not wanting to kids when I got married. When I got around little Maci (the birthday girl) those thoughts went away. She didn’t like the fact there were a bunch of bugs at her face but she did like everybody around her. In the middle of the party, just before my sis left to go back to work. She got to hold Maci and she kept wanting to try to pick Blondie’s tattoo off on her collarbone. Maci is just starting to stand up on her own and she was up against my controller and right foot. She had her left hand fully attached to my right foot for support. She looked like she was so happy standing up, trying to figure out the buttons of my controller. Don’t worry I had full control of the stick and made sure she didn’t go to grab it.
When it was time for presents and cake, everybody was starting to overheat and Maci was very tired. She was very alert during the whole time it was time to unwrap the presents. She got a lot of normal things for a one year old, clothes, stuffed animals, and a bunch of Minnie Mouse things! One thing that was kind of funny was that a present was actually repeated. I was actually stunned because I don’t think I’ve ever since that happen before. It was cute but funny too! When it was time for cake though, Maci wasn’t the normal one year old. She was very much wore the heck out by the time we got to the cake and she never got down into the actual cake part. She just had pure pink icing all over her face, hands, and most of her high chair! While she was getting washed off, I got to do something that was pretty adorable because I hadn’t done it before. One of the girls that my mom and Kristen work with brought all three of her boys with her and which gave both Katie and Aiden somebody to play with, but her youngest was very shy to me at first. Which is normal, and he wasn’t the only one either! Well, he had gotten past his shyness and asked me if I could take off the wrapper of the cupcake he had. Everybody else was busy so I attempted to do this while he just watched me go around the top of the wrapper, pulling it down and trying to keep my toes away from the actual icing part. Once I had gotten it loosen up enough he got it all the way undone and began to eat the icing!
The older kids finally got to join in on the fun when somebody realized the only thing we haven’t done yet was the pinata. This time I decided to stay out of this one and let the younger kids have the fun. They did it the right away though, blindfold, spinning around a couple of times and then letting loose! Well, Miss Katie was first since she was the only girl and she didn’t even make her first hit before the damn bat exploded in two! Which in a way was handy because the hands were WAY too short to handle a three or four feet bat made of paper. I think all of the kids got to go except for one but we didn’t really hear him complain though because there was a lot of candy on the ground! Once it was broken, people started to throw away their stuff, say their goodbyes, and leave. We stayed a little bit later to help clean up. While my mom was busy helping, I was trying to keep Maci occupied. She has a few teeth in her mouth and she kept wanting to pull my toes into her mouth. My good work was coming back to literally bite me! I only got three hugs and two kisses by three different kids. I love getting kisses and hugs from little kids, it makes my heart melt! Now that I’ve been home for a few hours, I’ve been listening to music, editing pictures and trying to summarize my whole day in one post. I’m pretty sure today rocked! And tomorrow I get to have cake all over again, since we’re celebrating my papaw’s birthday that was this week too! Until then, I hope you enjoyed your day and/or evening and here are what our new kittens look like. Goodnight!
Song challenge for the day was supposed to be pick a song from your favorite band. Since I couldn’t make up my mind. I’m just going to list five songs by five different bands. I am not responsible if the songs make you cry, I am just saying. (:
I love Halestorm. I can listen to their album about a hundred times and not get tired of it. I am so obsessed with it! This was my first song that I listened to, besides the ones that came on the EP. I heard this song on Octane and could have cried through it. I am completely in love with this song. I love how it sounds, the lyrics, and gah! The whole song just melts my heart into a big puddle. I did not think I’d ever like a song this, but Lzzy switched it all up for me.
Another song I heard for the first time on Octane. I had always loved Symphonic Metal but I had a small break because I didn’t want to get my heart set on a genre where not a lot of bands were in, like in that category. After I got into Within Temptation, hearing this song and a few others. I was happy to know there were more bands that were like them. The fact that there isn’t any here in the States, really sucks. Originally this song wasn’t my first choice. I want to use lyric videos, but the song I wanted to use has already been posted in a past post.
I think all three of these songs I first heard them on Octane. It’s a good radio station. Since I didn’t have a FFDP song on my last post. This one had to go here. I love this song, the band is completely insane, but in a good way. Everybody thinks I’m a bit weird considering I listen to them like everyday. I’m not that stuck into them. If I was really stuck to them, this would be the original challenge of one song by one band. I couldn’t choose from all of the bands I listen to, so there.
I love In This Moment. They are freaking amazing! I actually had to go looking for this song. I heard Kayla Riley on Octane talking about being released online and I went looking about an hour later and actually found it. I am seriously obsessed with this song. I cannot wait to get my toes on this new album of their’s hopefully next week. I’m going to have to do some seriously begging, but it will be so worth it. After I heard this song I literally thought to myself, Maria and Chester Bennington of Linkin Park should do a “Shut up” scream challenge to see which one is the loudest.
Speaking of Linkin Park, I love them too! They were my first rock band to get into and have almost every album by them. I have more LP albums than Backstreet Boys. I’m only missing the Live In Texas and LPU CD’s. Since I’m not a LPU I’m not too worried about those. Even though I’m not as into LP like I use to be, they never really go away. I still get excited everytime they release a LPTV episode on YouTube, like yesterday I got so excited I could have made somebody giggle because of how goofy I was acting. That’s what they do to me.
I listen to a lot of music. Something you can always picture me buying is rock music. We know this already, but I’m not just an “all male band” lover. I love when the girls can get ugly in people’s faces just as much as the guys and yet look and sound beautifully. Since 2009, when I officially got into rock music, I got introduced to Flyleaf and Paramore. Both bands were off the hook, but something I liked with both bands. Besides Hayley’s hair, she really had some pair of lungs on her and the lead singer of Flyleaf, Lacey can scream like the rest of these guys. Except the difference with the females is the octaves they bring and they sound less freighting. Until one day, I had the guts to listen to Lacuna Coil. Lacuna Coil is in the genre of rock music that I really love, which is Symphonic Rock. Which takes classical instruments and heavy guitar riffs and drums and puts them together. I love how it sounds. When I first heard about what the genre was called, I went looking for even more bands and I was pleased with what I found.
Lacuna Coil, was one of the first bands I got interested. I had just started to listen to Sirius XM Octane and they had been playing a few songs from them like, “Spellbound” and “I Won’t Tell You” and after I heard these two I instantly become hooked to them. At that time, I was still using Playlist. I looked up even more songs by them, and found out they had been around for a while. Which made me feel bad since I discovered on them so late, but it’s what I’m known for actually. After them, I started listening to Evansecence and Flyleaf even more. Then my heart said, look up more bands. I did. I found Nightwish, Within Temptation, In This Moment, and Xandria. There were a few others but those just didn’t seem to click with me. These bands definitely won me over. Out of all of them, In This Moment is probably my second favorite after Lacuna Coil. Maria has some lungs, she doesn’t even sound human, but it works. She’s such a good screamer, I love her in the song, “The Promise” I am seriously addicted to that song. I’m listening to another one of their songs and she just did a big scream. Ahh! I love it!
