Nana’s Birthday Fun!

Hi 🙂

It’s been a while since I’ve actually done a big family weekend post! I’ve been wanting to keep some things private, since my papaw’s passing I’ve been really cherishing the time with them and usually we’re not even taking pictures of what we’ve been doing, so that’s the other reason why you haven’t seen a lot lately!

My cousin Taylor and his mom, my Aunt Laurie have spring break the last week of March, where it goes into April. This has always been such a blessing because my nana’s birthday is during the first few days of the month so they get to come down without having to worry about going back to work two days later! They came down without Mike, because he still had to work and that part sucked! They also brought their dog Mila, she’s a lab/German Shepard mix if I haven’t said that yet! I don’t think I have though! She’s such a sweetie and since my aunt and uncle are deaf, she has to be very alert to know what they are saying, and yes she does know sign language. It’s so cute!

They came down on Saturday afternoon, they enjoyed their alone time with my nana. Poor Laurie and Taylor were put to work after a bit after they got there I think. The last time they came down, everybody brought down like 10 drawers from upstairs and throughout both February and March, my nana and I have been slowly getting through them. For the most part, we cleared out I think five big drawers and a smaller one. I moved them into papaw’s room as she finished each one so we had more room to move around in the living room. Thankfully, I had physical therapy in the last two months so my strength was back in full force and I could lift these without having back and neck problems!

I had them folded on their sides and stacked on top of each other in my papaw’s room! I had never left more like Supergirl until I did this! They were heavy, but not as we expected them to be! So when Laurie arrived, she had Taylor carry them back upstairs and now we only have two left and that is mostly DAR and genealogy stuff! Other than that, the living room is as good as new!

On Sunday, my nana had some extra guests come over. She basically had everybody in her family come down, as Rick and Linda were down on Saturday for lunch! David, Katt, my cousin Kristi came down as a surprise, they’re really good at that! Kristi came bearing her almost three-month old “baby” boy Joseph! My nana has been dying to meet this little guy, along the rest of us too! I didn’t know she had come down with them until I was in the car with Blondie, Brandon and Chipper in the McDonald’s drive thru! Unfortunately I can’t hold babies, it really sucks but since he was like under 20 pounds, my thighs are okay with it!

I have asked Kristi if I could share a picture of him, and she said yes, so you guys get to meet the little ham!

We didn’t stay very long as my mom had to work that weekend so when she finally came over, she was very tired and I think only stayed over less than an hour! It was okay since we came back the next day, but David, Katt, Kristi and little Joe went home that afternoon!

On Monday, it was somewhat of a blur, especially in my mind! That’s the one bad thing about family gatherings, is that sometimes my conscience goes in and out, so I tend to forget things that went on if it’s longer than two days! I do remember taking lots of pictures, I will have two DIY projects coming soon! One is a combination of Easter/spring, but the other was somewhat of a surprise. It was more of my nana’s idea, she originally wanted video of it but I figured it would be more than a minute so we compromised and I will blog it instead! I think you guys will like it!

The whole weekend we were expected to get some bad storms, but they kept going to the next day and the next. Our weather is very bipolar here in the Midwest! Since we never got the storms, we went outside a couple of times. I tried to take pictures but it was very bright and I don’t do enough roaming around on the sidewalk that I didn’t feel safe moving a lot plus the bottom of my foot didn’t like the feel of the concrete, so I only managed to get one picture before heading back inside! My mom and Aunt Laurie put up her new bird feeder that Uncle Mike made for her! It’s very cool, unfortunately I do not have a tutorial for that, sorry!

And then finally on Tuesday, we did something that we don’t normally do! In our hometown, there’s a new restaurant called Cakes & Coffee Cafe and they always have their specials of the day hanging outside the building and so whenever my mom and I drive by we always look at their specials! It’s become our thing now! We finally went there to eat and check it out and I was very happy!

The building was a bank for decades before it laid empty for most of my childhood. We moved into the area when I was like six years old and we’ve also driven past it and it looks so modern up against these older buildings, that have been there since the town was established in the early 1800s! It was now owned by a family friend Randy. I always thought it would be smaller once inside, because it just sort of gives you that illusion that it would have a small interior.

Once you walk in, the amount of space grabs you and then you look around at all of the back and white pictures of how the town used to look like was intoxicating! It was like a mini museum and I couldn’t get enough! We have a well-known celebrity that was born and raised here and it is baseball legend Gil Hodges; there were pictures and a huge plaster head of him hanging above a doorway, but the main attraction is the vault. They still have that little room and the giant door! The space and walls have become a place where you can write your name on! So before we all left, we signed it and my nana had a ball! We even got our pictures done in the actual vault!

This was what I got, just your normal biscuits and gravy with a little cup of fresh fruit! I made the mistake of not asking for a kid’s cup for my drink beforehand because when it arrived to our table, we all looked at like “uh oh!” but surprisingly I could reach it but next time, we’ll be asking for a small cup!

My nana aka “the birthday girl” got the special of the day which was Turkey Manhattan. She let me have a bite of it and it was good! My mom and Aunt Laurie got a chicken salad on a croissant, like a real croissant! They ordered German potato salad as their side! Taylor went in the same route as I did and got breakfast too. He got pancakes and managed to finish his before any of us! That’s a growing boy for you!

17800328_10202749053325535_6680794072063373822_n

After we got back to the house, it was time for cake and my Aunt Laurie made a chocolate cake with rainbow sprinkles! Everybody had a small slice of cake and I obviously was too full from my meal because I didn’t eat very much of my piece. I didn’t even have any ice cream!

One of the last things we did was play a couple of rounds of UNO. I have owed my cousin Taylor two rounds of it since November and I managed to win twice but when Laurie joined, she won the next one and then my nana played the last game and Laurie won again! My poor nana still doesn’t know the symbols on the cards, and can barely figure out the colors so she made it kind of interesting and hilarious for all of us! I’m still shocked that I won at all! I literally never win at UNO! I think Taylor was probably surprised too!

I think it was a good weekend with my family! Apparently so good that Tuesday night I crashed so hard that I laid on one side of my bed for six hours straight! And then when my mom woke me up before she went to work the next morning, she gave me another muscle relaxer and I crashed again, waking up at 12:35pm, but I didn’t care!

I apologize for the pictures below, my mom’s camera has been making them kind of grainy in a strange way!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun and exciting?!

A Photo Diary Of Cats

075

Hello guys and girls!

I’ve been having a bit of a rough time trying to come up with posts lately. I feel the stuff I’ve been trying to come up isn’t really working. I’m in a bit of a rut at the moment. I’m  definitely not having any trouble taking pictures though!

This past weekend was amazing! Our weather as I explained in my recent OOTD post has picked up as far as having quite a bit of snow goes! Well, I have to say it was a big jump to feel as though it was spring outside. The last time I was sitting out on our back porch was back in early November? I think so! That doesn’t sound that long ago, but it felt like it! My mom told me the night before of how the temp was supposed to be like in the upper 50’s so I could go out and be with our babies! I woke up at 9am and was outside around 11:30am and didn’t come back indoors until 2:15pm! I spent little over two hours sitting our porch!

I wasn’t out there by myself though! I had my mom come out there and visit with us too! So a few of these pictures below were taken by my mom! It’s interesting whenever we come home, they’re very lovable and want to cuddle with us but when we’re outside with them they don’t try to climb or give us hugs. They can be really weird sometimes! I tried to pictures of everybody so it wouldn’t be so difficult to tell who’s who. This first day was after they got done eating. Also, my neighbor Sammy saw me when I first came out, freaked me out because all I heard was “hi Meggie!” and then I recongized the voice! A bit later she came over to visit with me and we sat petting the cats and talked our heads off! Afterwards her daughter Chevy and boyfriend Alex came over and it was very nice! I still feel awful that the sun was beating down on her eyes! She didn’t want to move though!

Once they left I debated whether or not I wanted to go back inside or not. If it wasn’t for my back and left hip I would have stayed out there for another hour or so! I have to say I had trouble scooting out there, but trying to go back in the kitchen was rough too! My ass was frozen, I couldn’t move it! I don’t scoot a lot at home and I feel I need to start it up again as my hips and butt just feel like they’ll shiver up and disappear, I know they can’t but they certainly feel like that some days!

You’ll get day two of pictures in a couple of days I promise! Hope you enjoy these for now!

OOTD: Orange Skulls

Untitled

Howdy!

One half of this post was meant to go up last Saturday, but I wasn’t anywhere near my laptop, so I’ve had to combine them. Hey! At least I remembered to ask members of my family to take my pictures for me!

Our weather got super cold by Friday morning! When I woke up that morning the temp in my room was between 66-67 degrees! I was covered up in my blanket like a freaking cocoon it was so cold! Since it’ll only get colder outside I’m back to wearing both socks and long sleeve shirts! The outfit on the left side was from Friday, I was covered in skulls and I loved it! You’ve seen the leggings before, but the hoodie is new! My parents went to Wal-Mart a few days before this picture was taken and they came home with this shirt. My mom loves the fact that it has a hood on it! I love it for two things: It has an Aztec design of a skull on the front and it’s so big that you can see it through my hands! Hot damn! I wore it all day long, everywhere I went was pretty chilly and the whole outfit kept me warm.

Saturday, my Aunt Laurie and my nana got to dress me. My outfit for that day was on the right side. I wore my favorite cat face leggings! The pants in general are white but some of the cats have black, gray, turquoise, pink, lavender, and/or neon orange as the secondary colors! My shirt is from Rue21 and it’s technically a hand-me-down from my own sister! I have to say I love getting her old clothes though. For one she has a great sense of style and for the first week I get to smell like her! I really like this blouse. I love the short sleeves and the button in the front. It actually fits me pretty well, as far the right shoulder, ALL of my shoulders do that! That’s what happens with Arthrogryposis people. Our shoulders are so small that sometimes necklines of shirts just slide down easier than they with normal sized shoulders. Everybody should be happy that it only happens to one of them instead of both! It’s happened so much that I honestly don’t care about it anymore!

Which outfit do you like the most?

Howdy!

I’m back from spending time with my family. Technically I’ve been back for a couple of days but I’ve been trying to edit pictures and rest as much as possible because the last time I spent the night at my grandparent’s house and hung out with the family, I couldn’t do anything for at least two weeks! Things were a bit different this time around, but I’m still really tired! So to give myself some time to relax in the week, I’ve decided to publish a couple of smaller posts and leave the bigger ones for early next week.

Everything happened from Friday evening to Saturday night. It doesn’t seem all that short but to me, it was a lot longer than that trust me! A little run down, During day two, my Uncle Rick came down to spend some time with us. My Aunt Laurie and Uncle Mike had asked me if I wanted to join them while they went to Wal-Mart. I said sure. My younger cousin Taylor wasn’t originally going to go with us, but after I asked where he was Laurie went back and from what he told me she used games as a bribe to get him to go with us. I felt bad for him in a way, I talked my head off the whole way there, but he let me have it on the way back so it was all right! I learned a lot about him on that ride home so that was nice! He’s like me, he’s a little bit shy. If you can get him away from his nook he’s very lively and talkative! I felt bad I managed to lose my UNO cards in the last month and I don’t know why we managed to not buy a whole new deck of cards while we were there! Next time we’ll have our rematch!

I don’t know if I’ve ever talked about this before but my Aunt Laurie and her husband Mike are both deaf, it’s a bit difficult to talk to the both of them. I can’t learn sign language even though we’ve found out there are ways for ones who use their feet like me to do it. Unfortunately my toes can’t separate from one another, but I do know a couple of gestures that I CAN do with my left foot, for the most part I have to talk very slowly so they can (hopefully) read my lips. It’s a lot harder than it looks, I’ve always had an issue with it because I am a fast talker and a giggler, but then again if you saw these two and how fast they talk to one another, even with one hand it will amaze you! Sometimes Taylor does have to tell her what I said because he can hear and use sign language to translate it for her. It’s very interesting! I say this because the first thing she had him ask me was “what do you want for your birthday?” I honestly didn’t know! I still don’t know to tell you the truth!

On our outing, they were searching for things for my grandparents like my Papaw’s ice cream bars. He loves fudge bars but whenever my mom goes shopping at the end of the week for them, she has a hard time finding them. Well, Wal-Mart didn’t have them either! My nana wanted more glasses. So they got her an eight or maybe it was a six-pack of small glasses for her. I was supposed to get her markers but I forgot. And Mike also got her some flowers (fake) for outside in the yard. I also got some pretty flowers, not that I have any place for them! You might see them in future blog posts! I love sunflowers and daisies and surprisingly that’s what I got! One of the last things we got though were the nail polishes! Laurie got some lipstick which turned out to be lip gloss instead! The packaging was misleading! Anyways, I was very troubled in choosing what colors I wanted to get this time around. There was more of a selection and I was only allowed two or three. So I came home with these three colors!

I generally pick these brands on accident almost every time! Sally Hansen and Pure Ice nail polishes! They’re usually cheap and low to my level so I can reach them. The first one that got my attention was the middle one. It’s called “Unbreakable Heart” and it’s a deep red, perfect autumnal color! The second was the “Big Teal” by Pure Ice. It says it’s teal but it looks more navy blue than anything else so we’ll have to see what that one does! And lastly because it is almost Halloween, I got a light orange color called “Sun Kissed” also by Sally Hansen! I really want to paint my toes in this color and borrow my nana’s black sharpie and make a Jack O lantern on my big toe! I’ve got too many ideas to do with that one stuck in my head!

Which color do you like the best?

Weekend Fun!

1vsaqykqwuzrr25ldxy3w915u3r3j6xn

Howdy!

I think it’s fair to say I had fun over the weekend! My mom and dad went out for a late birthday lunch as it was my mom’s birthday last week. So I got to spend time with my grandparents. Whenever I go over there, my nana usually has me doing little jobs for her that I know how to do on your laptop or little ones around the house. I was trying to grab the handy mini can opener for the pop can and she’s been letting me use this at her house, as soon as I got my toes around in the box she had already opened it. It was like beat the clock and I had failed once again. It was also lunch time when I go over there too, so I eat a can of soup or sometimes I do what I did that day, just eat cottage cheese and ice cream. Sometimes if I have a lot to say, it’s better to eat less!

When my mom first pushed me into the kitchen, I saw that they had gotten two new Archaeology Magazines. The week before they got the newest edition but I guess the two that we missed came in too! I’ll read the bigger articles whenever I go back if papaw hasn’t hidden them away somewhere. There’s a section inside these magazines that I’ve just fallen in love with, it’s two pages and on them is a picture of the globe and they have little information from different countries. Sometimes they can be really interesting and the rest of the time they’re a little gross! The main thing I like to do, well my nana has me do, I like to read them out loud. I’ve always been the slower reader in school and of all magazines to read out loud, it’s this type of magazine! Imagine all of these big ass words! I’m getting less frustrated with them though, before I just wanted to cry whenever I got up to these words now I make a joke out of them and it makes the both of us laugh. I’ve found its less pressure if I can make people laugh in the middle of reading these articles.

While I was busy hanging out with my grandparents, my parents went out to Red Lobster and to the store. The first ever alcohol drinks she ever got me to like were these Strawberry Daiquiri slushies. I liked them at first but since I just slip them the icy parts melt too fast for me and it no longer tastes any good! Well, two summers ago my friend Sammy had this Baha Mama slushie drink and I had a spoonful and man was it good! It hardly had a burn to it. The funny part of the story was I didn’t know my mom was planning on drinking that night so when they went to grab stuff and saw these my dad went “which one of these does Meghan like?” So it was his idea (and he admitted to it!) and now have two left over. She had two out of her three already! That was first drink since NYE. I got to see Sammy, Chey, and Chevy too! Chey went to her first concert ever over the weekend. I was pretty proud of her!

On Sunday, my day was a bit duller. I knew we were going over to the garage for our Sunday dinner, but my mom wanted to take a nap beforehand and while I was bored waiting to go over, I started writing out bands that I listen to because towards the end of the night John and a friend our neighbors kept asking me what kind of bands I normally listen to, so I thought I’d do myself a bit of good and write out. I listed 42 on this note card. 41 were on my iPod, one wasn’t but it’s on my Spotify I don’t know how I managed to remember it! When I woke up that morning, it was like 10am and my mom gave me cereal for breakfast, normally I don’t like to eat first thing in the morning. I have to be in the mood for it or if it is chocolate related! By the time we left to go over to eat, I was past hungry.  John made steak, red potatoes, salmon and corn on the cobb. In other words, we ate like kings! I stayed sober this time around even though dad let me have a sip of his tomato beer, just tomato juice and a bud light. It was disgusting! My mom and I were surprised he let me take a sip of his beer! We didn’t stay over very long this time around as my mom had to get up early for work in the morning.

When we left, I wanted to go around the backyard and see the babies. This past weekend, I got to see them more than I usually do since they’re really not supposed to be inside. I started off by spending some with Tubby, since he’s the keeper of the porch now. He loves to be around people or around my mom, Blondie and I. He likes to give hugs and purrs the whole time. The others are another story entirely. Bootsie, Grumpy, Bear-Bear, Midget, and Stormy are all used to my big wheelchair. The little ones are not as they still run away from me. When I went in the back after being with Tubby, they were all a little spooked when I came towards them. They didn’t start coming around me until Midget and Bootsie came up first and then they rushed behind. I tried to take pictures of them but they kept moving away as soon as I would take a picture. Surprisingly I didn’t have a bad time dealing with the mosquitos like I thought I would, but I also didn’t want to test it out by staying out longer either.

11259471_10200653414335870_923378597413431172_n

My mom let me wear my British flag shirt. I got it for Christmas but the neckline is way too long for me, but whenever we go places I want to wear it so she put it on me and we had to use a safety pin to fix the excess so it didn’t slide off my shoulders and show more cleavage than it needed to! I don’t have white plain pants, except for these capris that have mini colored hearts on them. So that is what I wore over to my nana;s, later on that night my mom changed my shirt to my Captain America shirt so I wouldn’t have to worry about the damn safety pin. The first thing my neighbor told me when I got done parking, he wants to get a pair of pants like mine. Two days later the image of him with the pants on were stuck in my head. Not a pretty picture I have to say!

11866392_10200653414295869_2354782680374767665_nOn Sunday, I wore my new skull T-shirt I got from Wal-Mart a few months ago. My nana had to fix the neckline as it was way too long in the front and revealed more than it needed to! It’s tight around my stomach so I don’t see my dad putting it on me very much as he hates tight shirts on me. Not as a parent thing, as he thinks being that tight I’ll only wear a few times before it becomes too small for me! I no longer judge my clothes that way as I still have a shirt that I got in 2006-07 from church and it STILL fits me! It’s not tight in my stomach area, but it around getting my arms into the sleeves. I have maybe another year or two left on wearing it. As far as pants, my mom put me in gray shorts but I wanted to wear pants as I knew where I would be sitting, it would be cold. I was right but she brought over her long/knee high fuzzy socks for me to wear! Those are so nice! I’m proud to say I can put those on as well!

Trifextra: Scooby-Doo Meets The Green Monster

Wasn’t planning on doing this weekend’s Trifextra’s but I’m in another good mood and wanting to create a very short Halloween theme story.  Okay, so here it goes!

Artist credit: Dan Duford

“What was that?” said Shaggy. “I don’t know.” said Scooby-Doo. “AHHHHHH!” they screamed loudly, and then they fainted “Oh crap! Why do they always do that?” the monster said in a sad voice.

Trifecta Weekend Challenge: Power

It’s been a while since I’ve done the Trifecta Weekend Challenge. I also missed this week’s prompt, so I’m redeeming myself with this little poem. Prompt is to write a piece only using 33 words.

She couldn’t believe somebody like him loved her so much.

He enjoyed her company; loved her body and personality.

He was weak without her, she knew she had so much power over him.
