Vloggers That I Love #4

Howdy!

I am so happy that I brought this series back because it seems everybody has been enjoying the last one a lot, so I figured it was time to come back for another post. This time we will be talking about family orientated YouTube channels. I have been loving these types of channels mostly because even though it’s usually a small fraction of their lives being recorded for us, they’re always so fun and interesting. I really look forward to a new vlog every week!

Now as much as this will be discussing the family side of these people, I really picked them for the fact that they’re all mothers but you get to see their interests in various things than besides their children. I was going to only list two for this post to keep up with my list, but I thought the last one fits better with this post than having to give it to another theme. Here are the channels that I think you should check out next!

Natalie Bennett | lifestyle + motherhood

Natalie has a second channels that includes her husband an their whole families. However, for this post, we are only highlighting her main channel. There are similarities to both of them as the kids: Liam, Judah, and Hailey are featured in several of her videos. I mean, you can’t expect her to turn off that part of her life. She does a lot of fun videos that include them right into the theme, like holidays, homeschooling, food, and even her daily routines.

As far as the lifestyle part, the term itself means “anything goes” so she does talk about beauty, fashion, health, and God. She’s had some issues with her health for the past few years, that involves her stomach, mostly it’s her GI tract and the woman has had a lot of changes in her diet between having to go both vegan and gluten-free at the same time. I mean, that in general is usually a choice you make on your own, but for some people it was recommended by your doctors. We haven’t had a proper update about her progress in a while so I hope she is doing better!

One of the things that I was surprised I wasn’t turned off about was the fact that both channels talk about their relationships with God. They do not shove it down your throat, but it does come up quite a bit in their vlogs. If you watch her morning routine video, you get a piece of it as she likes to take time out in the mornings to read sections of the Bible and incorporate it into her outlook of the day. I think because she has such a soft voice that whenever she does talk about her religion, it’s almost comforting and the fact that the kids want to learn about it is really cute too!

Megan Fox Unlocked | millennial, Mennonite & mom.

Now, if you’re thinking the actress Megan Fox made one heck of a life change, you’re wrong! This Megan Fox was born as a Mennonite in Pennsylvania. She lives a basically normal life, as she is a wife and mother of two: Evonne and Fletcher.

When I found this channel, I was a bit stunned but I really feel like I wasn’t the only one that has discovered her in the recent year or so! She has a whole video talking about others assumptions of what it is to be a Mennonite. It really did help at figuring out her way of life. For the most part, I’ve been around the Amish community, but hadn’t met anyone as a Mennonite until 2016. There are differences between the two, so before you go all judgmental, you need to really see her channel for yourself.

In a lot of ways, Megan and Natalie have a lot in common than besides their views in religion and motherhood, Megan also has a really nice voice. She doesn’t talk too fast or too quiet. She just seems like she wants to be your friend really, as she’ll give you some great tips about various things, such as decorating. I have grown to love those types of videos in the last month or so! She loves fashion, and the fact that she knows how to sew, she likes to make a lot of her own skirts and dresses, and even some household items like curtains too!

SparklyFamilyVlogs | teen parents of 3 living in Hawaii

The final YouTube family I love to watch is SparklyFamilyVlogs! Liola and her husband Na’ia are in their early twenties, parents to three beautiful, blond babies: twin boys Kekai and Koda, who have to be around four and daughter Everleigh who is under the age of two I think. They all live in Hawaii. Liola is a stay-at-home mom. They are basically homeschooling the children and they all live a vegan lifestyle.

How I managed to find them was interesting, because I think I was watching a vlog about a vegan dish and their newest video was on my right side, calling to me basically! I clicked it and was immediately curious about one of their sons, because they were running around behind their mama Liola, I wasn’t able to get a good look at the front of this child but I could see a familiar feature of the shoulders. They looked exactly like mine!

Little Koda has Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congentia too. No, I haven’t messaged them yet, I want to, but I don’t to overstep any boundaries so I’m still thinking about my approach before I go making a mess of myself! One of the reasons why I love watching their videos is because of him. He is so brave and living life to the fullest. Actually, the vlog I watched showed him trying to climb a tree with his brother. Koda can walk, he just can’t extend his arms, they’re bent at the elbow like mine. So, the fact that he basically walked on the bottom part of the tree was good enough for him. He was just excited to get that far I think! Liola is very nervous about him and how she’ll have to explain the differences and struggles to him and his siblings as they get older, but I think she and Na’ia will be just fine in the long run.

Before I go, I wanted to say that I didn’t think all of these families had more things than one in common with each other! I knew about the homeschooling and religion parts but it’s crazy to see it all written out in front of me! I know what I like, and that is an authentic sense of family even if it is on YouTube. They’re not bragging about the money that they could be gaining with their sponsored items, every vlog is like you’re hanging out with your best friend and since I can’t physically get out to be with my friends, this is enough for me!

Are you a fan of family YouTube channels? Do you watch any of the ones I mentioned above? If you have a favorite, please share them with me in the comments!

My Name In Blog Tag

Hello!

Every once in a blue moon, I’ll check out my Reader and read some new blog posts. I found a new tag that seemed really fun to do, plus I had done something similar with my Twitter username that same week! I have grown to love these different blog tags now; they’re usually easy to come up with and you’re able to schedule them way ahead in time, so really they’re like the perfect post when you’re really lazy!

Ally Writes Things is the one that shared it on her blog. She does a LOT of really cool tags that are just not about books, because that’s one reason why I never liked them before the end of 2018. I have been tempted to do quite a few of the tags she’s done in the past, especially the movie based ones!

The Rules For This Tag:

  • Spell your name with other blog names
  • If you have a long blog name, feel free to shorten it/only use part of it!
  • Write a bit about each blog you mention to tell the world how much you love them.
  • Pingback to the creator of this tag
  • Pingback all the blogs you mentioned so they can see why you love them.

Here are the blogs and mini shout out to the people behind them!

G – Geeky Tourist | Emma has a wonderful blog on her hands! She talks about books, movies, TV shows and even some science too! The blog post that made me love her was the Harry Potter locations in London (she also has one based in Edinburgh too!) and considering I am a BIG fan of the Harry Potter films this was right up my Diagon alley! Get it?

O – Sorry, unfortunately I don’t follow any “O” blogs!

T – The Little Blog Of Vegan | Holly Jade runs a vegan blog (duh!) but it’s not just about vegan food she talks about, it’s everything that makes up the vegan lifestyle! So, she has posts about why she wanted to go that route, plus discusses other cruelty free products like make up, clothes, etc. Everybody can learn a lot by her blog and you can definitely find yourself scrolling through the many recipes she has created late at night, trust me I’ve done this once or twice in the past couple of years!

M – Moving Picture Review | Shona has a great movie blog! She loves various of genres, and has inspired me to talk about movies again on here too. Since 2017, I have been open to discussing my individual favorites and what kind of genres I like to stick to, but I’ve even started to explore others that I might have lost interest in over the years or maybe have been too afraid to watch before, so she’s done a lot for me in that aspect!

E – Ella Was Here | Ella is a gentle soul. She really makes me happy, her posts always help me feel calmer and her entire blog is like my inner aesthetic I think, it’s just beautiful! How I want mine to be one day! It seems strange to describe it like that, but once you check it out you’ll (hopefully) know what I’m trying to say!

G – Gin & Biscuits | Kristina is a beauty, lifestyle and travel blogger. Her blog is gorgeous! Really easy to read, which is one thing that I search for in blogs because there are some with itty-bitty font and you have to squint your eyes to read each word. It’s super annoying! Anyways, I like to mostly read her lifestyle and travel posts. They’re always so bucket list worthy!

H – The Howling Wolfheart | I found Kitten’s blog by chance and from the moment I went on it, I fell deeply in love with it! I am a sucker for nerdy blogs. I like being able to find similar interests with people, especially bloggers, and if they are proud to talk about their superheroes, action films, etc I will forever follow them!

A – Absolutely Lucy | I love Lucy’s blog a lot! She makes you want to travel to places that maybe you have never considered before! She’s been one of my mentors in the blogging world, I’ve learned a lot from her and she is always honest and sweet to me!

N – Nourish ME | Steph is a very fun blogger, she talks about various topics from mental health, baking, make-up, books, the list goes on. I like to see what the bloggers really enjoy and I think she has the perfect mix of things that I think everybody would like as well!

So, what did you think of this? Truth be told, this was actually a lot more difficult than I originally thought it would be! I’m also very glad that I talked myself out of including the “Blog” at the end or I would never get this up for you! Despite this though, it was pretty fun to talk about some of my friends again. I hope you go and check out these blogs and enjoy yourself!

Why We Need A Vegan On TV!

Howdy!

This is going to be a little different then what you’re used to seeing me talk about on here.

I will admit that I am fascinated about a lot of things, whether it’s the moon, babies or cats, I am pretty much into learning about almost everything! However, there are two things that I’ve somewhat driven myself berserk as far as educating myself on. I am obsessed with history, we all know that. If there is an European History category on Jeopardy¬†there’s a 50/50 chance I’m either going to do a decent job or bomb it. The second one is that I am really into food. In 2014, I discovered the Cooking Network channel on accident while hiding in my parent’s room because there was either a cricket/mouse in there! Don’t ask, you don’t want to know trust me!

One thing that I has been growing within me is my knowledge about the vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free worlds. I’ve been very proud of myself on how much I know on all three types. If you’re unfamiliar with the terms: vegan is a person who chooses to eat things without dairy, whereas vegetarian is someone who does not eat meat. Of course, there are similar terms that sometimes go along with these two like paleo which is considered like “caveman” lifestyle, there’s no sugar, wheat, or dairy and there’s also pescetarian and this is someone who only eats fish. And of course, the last one is gluten-free and this is for a person who cannot have any sort of grains. I hope I haven’t confused you! For a while, my mom and I had arguments that vegan and vegetarian meant the same thing!

You’re going to think this is probably hypocritical of me, but unfortunately I am not a vegan, vegetarian, etc! As much as I support the people who do live that lifestyle, I doubt that I’ll ever be able to switch over. Why? I have a father who believes you should have some kind of meat in all of your meals, mostly because this was how he was raised. I do have to say though, I am very slowly cutting out sausage, pork (it’s his favorite), and steak. Sausage is just obvious, I now know what they put in there, but pork and steak though funnily enough get caught in parts of my teeth and I have a rough time chewing!

I have tried gluten-free products before! My Aunt Linda is allergic to gluten and cannot have a lot of breads, which I found out later on that it’s actually caused by heat. The more you work with dough and the more heat draws into it and activities in a way, sort of like yeast! There was one family gathering a few years ago, where she brought down a couple of dishes, (some she had made herself and others that were mircowavable) and there was a “mac” and cheese dish that made out of rice! I was fairly intrigued with the whole thing and I think this is what started me on the path to find out more about all of it!

However, most of the information I’ve been able to figure out has only came from two separate places: internet (mostly blogs and YouTube videos) but one television show! One! Food Network has all of these competition shows and yet, I haven’t seen a vegan or gluten-free cook have their own show! As far as I know Mario Batali is vegetarian and he still cooks with meat, but still there has not been one person who is vegan or gluten-free and has a show based off of that kind of lifestyle yet.

A lot of people are uneducated about the plant-based diets we now have popping up all over the place! So I thought to myself, why don’t I go on a hunt to find some worthy bloggers or YouTube personalities that would be great for TV and who create some amazing dishes for people who want something different in their bodies!

Kalel

Kalel was basically the first person I really saw as a “true” vegan/vegeterian. Her personality is considered very Californian, plus she is a bit of a potty mouth, but that being said I think if she was able to she would be great as a chef on TV! I found her vegan taste tests as both entertaining and interesting as I’ve only known the alternatives for cheese. I like knowing the varies kinds of “milks” that can be used to create these vegan cheeses such as cashews, almonds, and hazelnuts! I managed to blow my Uncle Rick’s mind when I told him about it, but I think I’m actually going to need to give him a bite of it so I can say “see! I wasn’t lying!”

The Little Blog Of Vegan

Holly Jade is one of the “newest” vegans I’ve been following on the blogosphere! She’s the only one of this list who just has a blog as her sharing platform plus a number of different publications on websites and magazines. I’ve been enjoying her posts lately. One of my guilty pleasures is going on the desserts section! She’s one of those people who had to change what she ate over health concerns! She’s also not just a vegan, she also supports cruelty free products too!

Niomi Smart

Niomi was technically the third vegan/vegetarian that I got into, but I don’t watch a lot of her videos, however she’s the only one on this list who has released her first cookbook! I don’t want to she’s the best bet to get a food show because I think there are others who deserve a shot at it too! Niomi is a very respected vegan in her own right and has some very interesting recipes!

The V Nice Life

Sarah is another “new” one to me. Since I’d rather watch these “What I Ate Wednesday” or “What I Eat In A Day” videos on YouTube, finding actual bloggers that take great pictures and have appealing recipes is somewhat harder for me to do. I am more about visual, which is the reason why I record about 4 different food shows during the week, but Sarah is both a blogger and YouTuber like Niomi. So I think she would be a neat chef or baker for a cooking show too! She has a more subtle voice so she’s not obnoxious which is great for not only me, but maybe everyone else too!

One of the main reasons why I wanted to write this post is that I tend to bottle things up inside and in my household, I’m not able to create any of my own meals. It’s definitely something that I would like to do one day, but would I ever consider going vegan someday? This is a very interesting proposition because I think I would like to try¬†pescetarian first mostly because I’m already losing my love of meat in general. I think gradually I would try to eliminate my dairy intake but right now it doesn’t seem like a possibility but I often wonder if any vegans out there ever thought they wouldn’t be able to live without certain foods too. I’m pretty sure they have had those thoughts in the beginning of the transiting phase!

What do you think about veganism? Don’t be mean to others or my choices above, but I would like to hear your opinions!
