February Playlist

Howdy!

February has been a good musical month for me though. I’ve heard a lot of good songs over the last couple of weeks. They actually appeared towards the end of January, I actually added two of them into last month’s list last minute because I felt as though I needed to share them with you at that moment. Hope you all enjoy this list of songs!

Speak To Me – Amy Lee
You Can’t Rely – Counterfeit
Bastards – Machine Head
The Middle – Zedd featuring Maren Morris & Grey
Sick Boy – The Chainsmokers
All These Years – Camila Cabello
Him & I – G-Eazy featuring Halsey
I Fall Apart – Post Malone
River – Eminem featuring Ed Sheeran
Filthy – Justin Timberlake
Gensis – Ruelle
Geromino – Sheppard
This Is The End – RAIGN
Keep Up – Rachel Platten
Scream It Out – Ellie Goulding
It Won’t Kill Ya – The Chainsmokers featuring Louane

I had fun with a couple of extended plays and I had one album review I did too! I’m hoping to continue to more for March but we’ll just have to see about it. I have decided officially that I will not be discussing G-Eazy’s new album as I had planned. I don’t do a lot of rap music on my blog, so I don’t know how to breakaway from my normal mindset while also paying attention to a person rap very quickly at the same time. The only reason why I did Mike Shinoda’s was because I already knew what I was getting myself into before I even started writing anything down.

Are There Two Babies?

Howdy!

Well… I’ve got one heck of a surprise for you today!

You’re all probably thinking by the title of this blog post that I am going to be an aunt of two little babies, but as far as I know, there isn’t a second baby in there, but I do have some interesting news to share with you.

My cousin Kristi is expecting baby number two!

Right now, she’s ten weeks into her pregnancy! And I guess we’re calling this one “peanut” again, since we already have a “nugget” I don’t know why everybody is choosing to give their fetuses foodie nicknames at the moment but I’m not arguing! Especially with two very pregnant women! Anyways, it came as a shock to everyone; maybe even to Kristi the most who we all definitely heard back in November say that she wasn’t going to have another one for “a long time.” And then this was announced on Facebook!

26805229_10215131456185482_7615171585538341973_n

Speaking of Facebook! Another reason why I wanted to do this post is because originally I was going to talk about the gender reveal party for Blondie and Brandon, but since we had that big snow storm last month, they’ve been a little worried that we’d get a second or third storm in the meantime and nobody would be able to come down or get stuck here, so they ended up cancelling it and decided on announcing the sex of the baby on Facebook. My mom got the idea of putting all of their animals in their bathroom and wrapping the string of the right color balloon on their collars and after the door opens, they run out of there and it reveals the gender! The video itself was a bit chaotic because both Chipper and Gru ran out of there so quickly that you couldn’t really see the balloons at first and then Otis, Samuel and Toni had different colored balloons, so although it was a cute announcement, it had its moments of confusion as well! It was a nice and belated Valentine’s Day gift.

Unfortunately I’m unable to share the video on here! So this is all you’re getting for a while!

IT’S A BOY!

Considering I was thinking it would be a girl, I was a bit stunned on the fact I was very wrong! Nolan Wayne is going to be his name. They’ve changed it a lot. So I’ve been debating whether or not I wanted to share it on here in case they decide to do it again.

Now we can start buying things that are not white or gray for the little nugget! Trust me, it’s a little harder to find neutral stuff at Walmart or Dollar General. At least for me it is! I am happy that his life will be fill of Legos, trains, cars, sports, muddy clothes, and of course superheros! I’m going to invest on a pair of Avengers sneakers and a Butler University onesie for him! Oh, I’m going to have so much fun spoiling this little guy!

I wanted to share some of Blondie’s baby bump pictures on here! The first two I had to edit myself because she didn’t put how many weeks she was on the actual pictures like she’s been doing lately! She’s also not constantly putting them up either. Kristi wasn’t that way either when she was pregnant with Joseph, so I don’t think she’ll do it with the new baby, but since Joe is away she might consider it down the line. If she’s comfortable with sharing any of them on here especially whenever I do a baby shower (that is if she has one!) post for her!

I just thought I’d share some of the exciting news with you all! And considering it’s a Monday and everything, you might need that little bit of happy news! Hope everybody has a wonderful day!

Can you guess what little nugget’s name going to be? Or do you have any name suggestions that go great with big brother Joseph?

Favorite Nicholas Sparks Movies!

rather

Howdy!

Wednesday is Valentine’s Day, so if you’re single and don’t want to associate yourself with the day as a whole, I’d be getting your essentials the day before and stay in all day long! Now for those of you who have to work or be around family and/or friends who drive you crazy about the fact that you haven’t met your “soul mate” yet, just breathe and think happy thoughts. I’d still buy one or two bottles of wine for that night just so you’re covered though.

Well, as much as I don’t believe in love at first sight, even though I’m still a sucker for both old school Disney princesses, I have decided that I needed to discuss about my love for Nicholas Spark romance movies. I know, I know!

Before I worked on this post, I decided to put up a poll on both Facebook and Twitter. I figured I’d get a big amount of feedback because I know how much these books and their movies are so lovable, however I didn’t get as many people as I thought I’d get, but everybody seems to enjoy The Notebook and The Best Of Me the most! I’ve decided on four movies to talk about today! I originally had five, but I quickly realized that I’ve actually never finished The Longest Ride. I do remember starting it, but I never made it to the middle of it. I’ll be honest I only wanted to watch it because it had both Scott Eastwood and Britt Robertson in it. I adore the two of them. Hopefully one day finish the rest of the film!

4. The Lost Song (2010) – Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth, Kelly Preston, and Greg Kinnear

Since I’m not exactly into romantic movies, I definitely didn’t watch this immediately after it was released on DVD. I think I saw it after I watched both Dear John and The Lucky One since they both appear to have been released the same year! To my brain, it would have been easier to get through them all at once and when you have a younger sister with a boyfriend at the time, you are looking for hopes that you’re going to have soulmate someday soon and I think that’s how it happened!

Unfortunately, I’ve only seen it once because I honestly didn’t like it as much, I thought it reminded me too much of Hannah Montana, since Miley’s character is into music in this movie. Another thing that these movies are good at, is making me cry! And to think, I did this multiple times to myself. Anyways, since only seeing it once or twice, I don’t really remember everything that happened but I am kind of happy that Miley Cyrus met Liam Hemsworth on that movie and that they’ve been together this long! I just find that really sweet!

3. Dear John (2010) Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried

Surprisingly, I have very vivid memories of this movie! I got the idea to do this post because this one was playing on Starz all month long. I haven’t decided whether or not I want to watch it. Like I said, I’m pretty sure Blondie and I actually went out to the movies to see this one, I don’t remember exactly but I think she brought her friends Jayde and Jace, because they all wanted to see it too. They sat next to me while I sunk down in my seat, trying to get through this in one piece. Thankfully we all cried and were pissed off at Amanda Seyfried after it was finished, so I wasn’t too alone in my feelings!

2. The Lucky One (2012) Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling, Blythe Danner

All right, as we continue on this track, the memories are getting stronger and stronger. I definitely remember this one, although there are times where I get it confused with Charlie St. Cloud too because they both have Zac Efron and the military aspect is in it too. I also thought they both were NS movies, but I literally just found out that it isn’t so I had to leave it off of this list.

I think this one is pretty sexual, compared to the other movies, but since I’ve seen such a limited amount of Nicholas Sparks movies, I can’t necessarily say that the others are about the same even TLR is right up there too!  I did enjoy this more than Dear John though, it didn’t really irritate me as much and it was pretty sweet too, but let’s be honest I could only be saying that because Zac Efron is in it!

1. Safe Haven (2013) Josh Duhamel, Julianne Hough, Cobie Smulders

This is definitely one of my favorite movies! I didn’t see this theaters like I did with the others, but I think I did that for a reason. Since dealing with the two above and the other romance movies, I think I’ve finally learned that it’s better to watch these movies in the comfort of your own room! My mom got it for me to watch for a night, and I watched it on my laptop and I really enjoyed it. Everything about it was easy to follow, parts of it were hard to watch because this was the same year that my sister was going through her troubles with her ex-boyfriend at the time, so I had to pause through it a couple of times just to get myself time to relax.

The ending has to be my favorite part though, not because the movie was done, but the content that they added in about a certain character. I am a sucker for those moments when they leave you breathless, it doesn’t happened very often so whenever it does, the movie will be embed into my brain for the rest of my life. Of course, I cried that much harder and basically had to tell my mom that she shouldn’t watch (and she never did) but they were genuine and good tears compared to the ugly crying I did for the others!

Are you a fan of the Nicholas Sparks books or films? What is your favorite?

OOTD: Valentine

16729433_1386987274698932_4082250858181875025_n

Hi 🙂

I bet you’re wondering why I am posting again, well yesterday I went for my first day in physical therapy and I went to my nana’s house afterwards, so I got dressed all fancy for Valentine’s Day! I also want to apologize for the brightness on the pictures. My mom put me right in the direction of the sunlight and I knew this would happen. I tried to fix it on PicMonkey but it was driving me crazy and they would not let me save them without creating an account first. So hopefully everybody that reads this post will understand. Oh, and you’re going to love my expressions!

Okay, let’s start this off! On Sunday, my mom, sister and I had ourselves a girl’s day out and we went to a bridal expo, which I will talk more about sometime next month. We also went to Wal-Mart and I still had a gift card from Christmas and I used it up in one day buying all new clothes! Retail therapy has its perks!

First things first, we have to discuss something. My mom has the worst time lifting me up into the car while I wear my coat. She cannot get ahold of my arms and safely put me into the seat, so we’ve had to remove it beforehand. We found a rack of shawls as we were passing by and we thought we’d try one out. I went for the green and blue plaid colored one. The shawl was $5! Surprisingly, it works and what I love about it, is that I can wear it in the “right” way, where my hands are placed on the outside of it (even though they’ll be colder that way!) and it doesn’t look silly on me because of my skrawny arms.

16708389_1386987264698933_4340153308252606875_n

Underneath is a red top, and we found this as we were looking at the different holiday shirts. I am sucker for clothes with sayings on it, I always have been! This one is just a simple outline of a heart in white with the word “love” written in the middle. I am happy that the lettering is large enough that even if I don’t move my arms over, people can still read what it says without a problem. That is always a plus with me!

This shirt was probably $7.88, but don’t count me on that!

16681673_1386988341365492_5744070196050849415_n

As far as my leggings, I had two options. I have another gray pair of leggings, they are a darker gray with a light gray floral pattern. I thought those would look good with the shirt, but that night I realized I still had my “lace” ones too! They’re not made out of lace, but they have that lace-y look to them. They’re a gray, almost white background while the actual lace-floral pattern is in black. I love these but I haven’t had anything that goes with them until now!

16730120_1386988684698791_1214116563308981912_n

To finish out my outfit, I wore red socks that have little Christmas trees on the sides to tell you which is left or right. My Aunt Laurie got me these as a Christmas present. Unfortunately, I may have to stop wearing them because of the material just sheds everywhere! My mom and I tend to have scraps of red all over us by the end of the day! They keep my toes very warm at night anyways!

So what do you think of my outfit? Yay or nay?

From The Days Of Courting

16002870_1354712004593126_7218699069232701781_n

Howdy!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of my readers out there. Whether you’re in a relationship going out for date later tonight or sitting at home on your couch drinking a glass (or a whole bottle) of wine, I just wanted to tell you that you’re beautiful and loved just the way you are! ♥

I wanted to do something a little differently for Valentine’s Day. We need to talk about a time where “courting” wasn’t such an old couple, grandparent kind of thing. You never really hear the word unless you watch the many TV shows about the Duggars, as they don’t use the term “dating” they say “courting” because it has a different meaning entirely. Dating could be for a couple of months to a year whereas courting is being with someone with the intention of marrying.

16114588_1354711947926465_1649887903005098195_n

Today, I’m talking about the days of my grandparents’s days of courting. I wanted to say a little bit after my papaw passed away last year, someone found a strange long box that was used to store Penicillin. It was fastened together a few rubberbands with the words, “save” and “mom + dad, love letters” and at the other side of the lid there is a medium size heart filled in with a red marker. I remember looking through it because it reminded me of my Great Grand-Uncle Gen and Aunt Mary’s love letters that they had written to each other. I think the only difference is that theirs were written while they were married, and my grandparents started to write while she lived up north and he worked down south, it’s roughly 2-3 hours between both places depending on how fast you drive!

When she showed me the box for the first time, I wanted to write up the blog post that day but I kept putting it off for some reason. And then while everybody was down for his birthday, my nana brought it out of his room and showed them to my mom and Aunt Laurie. They spent a good half hour just reading different ones and realized that my nana was a little minx while reading several of the letters! The first time they wrote to each other was Christmas Day 1961 and they stopped in 1962 when they were engaged and married. The big story is that my papaw was going to propose to her in March, the 13th to be exact, but he’s always been a little superstitious so he ended up waiting until the last of March or first week of April to ask for her hand and then they finally married that summer.

My papaw always had “bad” handwriting since I’ve known him. It was brought on by his work as a pharmacist, he had to write pretty small on everything. We still have big pieces of paper where you have very tiny handwriting in different places. So when I went through the box to take pictures, I wasn’t finding any of his letters, just nana’s. My nana doesn’t have this problem, she has very sophisticated cursive and whenever she goes quickly that’s when it can get really hard to read. Trust me, everybody has to ask her what a certain word is on her grocery list if they cannot read it themselves. The really sad part about it is that sometimes she doesn’t even know what she was saying! So we have to guess or just cross it off until two days later, she’ll figure it out!

16114280_1354712661259727_1971652765258615652_n

One thing that I think is very cute, and nana still think it is too! At the end of the of their letters, besides a “PS” section here and there, they’d end the letters with a “I love you” of course but she would add a hundred “xoxo” signs but she found one of his with the hugs and kisses basically trailing off the page when he ran out of room. I’ve done that before, but it’s a pretty sweet gesture coming from him!

Hope you enjoyed this post and didn’t think it was too sappy for your tastes!

15941338_1354711814593145_8460801713987923294_n16002867_1354711907926469_6789866093553623927_n12294876_812640348845550_4820856655821811760_n16002870_1354712004593126_7218699069232701781_n16105726_1354711957926464_4300638476081336113_n

Have you ever found old letters from your parents or grandparents before? What are your thoughts on the whole “dating” vs. “courting” thing? I want to know where you stand as far your opinions of how dating has become and what we see as “courting” in the older generations?
