Life Lately | Oh, Singing The February Blues!

Howdy!

Yup, it’s me! I’m back to blogging after what feels like forever! February wasn’t a bad month, but it still sucked. I wasn’t my normally peppy, productive self and even though I had a lot of different types of blog posts in my head and in my daily planner, it’s been hard to concentrate to do anything worthwhile.

It seems like for the most part, February was full of sickness. I have over 200+ friends on Facebook and I’m pretty sure, the majority had some sort of illness! I wasn’t sick with the flu, like most people, but I felt really out of it though. I just wanted to sleep, which concerned my parents because they know how I hate taking naps in any part of the day. A part of me thinks it has to do with my depression creeping back to me. I’ve been feeling negative with myself again. I’ve also noticed that I just want to start bawling in both happy and sad times. It’s been really frustrating to figure out which could be wrong with me, because I don’t know what could be different compared to how life was like in October!

When February arrived, I was a little down with myself because I hadn’t used that last week of January to work on the first two weeks of the new month, so I think that was part of the issue in the beginning, but once I started working on my disability challenge posts I was fine! It wasn’t until I started working on my Valentine’s Day stories that I really noticed something different with myself. In January, I wanted to write happy, love stories. I don’t know why I decided to write about breakups instead. I was really mad at myself for not doing better since I had been so excited to begin production on them.

I don’t like putting a lot of pressure on myself. I’m already doing two other series on my blog, plus one more exclusively on my blog’s Facebook profile for this year. I did not need to add a fourth idea this late–and yes, it is considered “late” because I’ve done enough planning! When I came up with these ideas, I gave myself enough time in between so I wouldn’t feel like everything was crushing me to the point where I’d give up on everything! I just decided stop what I was doing for February and wait to publish anything until March begins, so I would have a new month, a new start to get things finished, scheduled and ready for you all to read something different and fun!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been trying to do more self-care things, like reading and watching movies again. I’ve also joined a fun community of baby name euthastists like myself on Facebook, so I’ve been having fun collecting pairings, and adding onto my personal list and “baby names” Pinterest board too! Speaking of Pinterest boards, if you’d like to see what I’ve been watching on TV lately, you can check out my “seen in 2019” mini board now! I’ve been exploring the drama and time period films again, so if you are into historical, tear-jerker type of movies, you’d think you’ve hit the jackpot with my list!

How was your February? Have you or your family been going through the sickness too? Hope you’re all feeling better!

Writing Prompt: One Touch

Howdy!

I’m back with another post, hopefully this one will be on the lighter side of things compared to last week’s story! I found the prompt on Pinterest again, but what drew me to it was it reminded me of a song that I really love, and it’s called “Touch” by Natasha Bedingfield. I am obsessed with this song and when I saw this prompt, I was like “yes!” Apparently I have wanted to do this for a while and didn’t even know about it until now.

Since the prompt has two people, I think I’m going to try to write two people’s point of view on this post. I’ve never done this before, so please don’t judge me for my mistakes. Now here is the prompt for today, I hope you all enjoy it!

Coffee and papers flew into a mess as the two strangers collided on their hurried paths, unaware their destinies were now intertwined.

Jack

I cannot believe I am so late. I’m never late getting to work. Jack thought to himself while he stood in line at the coffee spot, just two blocks away from his apartment. He looked ragged, his face was a mess and his suit was wrinkled since he forgot to iron them after removing them from the dryer this morning. He knew his chance of impressing his bosses was lost now, but yet let out a big sigh while seven others stood in front of him waiting to order their coffee and breakfast pastries.

He had only been in the city for about three months, and was surprised by how fast he was able to find a job for himself in such short amount of time. He tried to send his resume everywhere he could think of, but it was a big city and figured it would very difficult to find a job when everyone else was looking for work as much as he was, so when he came home from job hunting to find an opening for a position at a place he applied was the shock of a lifetime. However, he hadn’t been there for a week, and he’s managed to fuck it all up.

After waiting in line for close to seven long minutes, it was finally Jack’s turn to order and as let out another big sign and started talking to the cashier in front of him, the door rang somewhat quietly as a person came into the place, but Jack wouldn’t hear it, he was such in a rush that he managed to block out any outside noises around him. He was just there to get a strong cup of joe and figure out a story to explain why he was late to his bosses. Coffee sat on the counter, steaming out of the lid as Jack got out his money to pay for it. The girl tore off his receipt and attempted to give him back his change, but he quickly turned away from her and headed for the door.

Stacy

Stacy was a free spirit, ray of sunshine kind of girl. She’s always been this way, but lately life hasn’t been treating her very nicely. When she first moved to the city, she thought it would bring her closer to her boyfriend Travis, since he was always working and couldn’t come home to her as much as they both seemed to wanted, but then one day after coming home from doing her errands she caught her boyfriend in bed with another girl. She was shattered. She was in denial with her family and friends when they tried to tell her how much of a player he was, but like most girls, she thought he cared enough about her that he wouldn’t do anything to hurt her. She risked everything for him and here he was, screwing away her hopes and dreams.

For the past two months she’s been trying to rebuild her life as a single woman. She tried her best to push her feelings back, but if you ever got up to her face-to-face, you’d be able to see the many layers of blush over her cheeks as she desperately tried to mask the steady stream of tears that fell from her eyes every night. She hoped and prayed that her fake smile will divert people’s worrisome thoughts about her love life, but unfortunately, it didn’t.

All wasn’t lost for Stacy though, as she had a great circle of friends to try to lend a hand or a shoulder to cry on; one of those friends recently got her a job at a coffee shop uptown. She knew how much Stacy loved meeting people, she has the perfectly personality to handle various attitudes. Stacy felt grateful for the opportunity, because she definitely needed a job since her ex-boyfriend was the source of her income. Today, she was about to start to learn the ins and outs of what it takes to make coffee and bake breakfast pastries, so she dressed in her favorite outfit: white T-shirt with a matching tulle-like skirt, she also wore a denim jacket on top in case she needed to cover up her upper arms and a pair of white flip-flops. She wasn’t known to wear anything practical, so until she was given a uniform she wasn’t going to change her dressing habits.

She finally made it to the shop, fairly early then she was expected to be there, as she wasn’t supposed to show up until noon to train under the manager, but she wanted to make sure to appear to be a responsible worker. When she entered the front door, it dinged from above and everybody on the other side of the counter looked at her with delight, she gave them a light smile as she let the door close behind her. A part of her felt weird to be standing in the corner of the doorway, but she wasn’t a customer nor a real employer yet so she stood next to the coat hangers, by a table of an elderly couple who smiled and nodded at her. The line to order was dwindling down after the morning rush and she vowed after the male in the half-washed suit left the counter that she’d make her move to the cashier about starting shadowing the manager. Since she knew she had some time to kill, she grabbed herself the local paper and started reading it, but as soon as she began reading the first big story, the man twisted on his toes in a hurry without taking his money, and didn’t see Stacy coming right at him and suddenly she regretted to wear all white on her first day.

What do you think happened to these two characters? All theories are welcomed!

Writing Prompt: We Could Have Been Happy

Howdy!

We’re in February now and like everybody knows, it’s a month dedicated to love, so in my way of showing a bit of love on here is to write some romantic stories. Honestly, I got the idea to do this after I finished with my Christmas prompts. I just enjoyed coming up with those cute and funny little stories that I thought, “why don’t I continue this for the next holiday?” so here we are! The only issue is that I’m not sure if I’m going to skip the last week of the month or not. I am considering it because it would help me get ready for my plans for March.

All of the prompts were found on Pinterest. I’d even change my mind about a couple of them at the last minute because I didn’t think there was enough variety between them. I didn’t want to be too cheesy or sexual, so hopefully these will be a good medium for everybody! They are ALL free write stories–so if you see a mistake, try your best to ignore it! I’d also like to say that I have tried my best to keep them happy, but as you’ll see it hasn’t happened… Anyways, the first prompts goes like this.

At one point of time, we could have been happy.

We moved too fast, at least that’s what she told me as she packed her stuff that she had recently shoved into my itty-bitty closet. I stood at the base of the bed we just made love in the night before. I was so confused. Why would she have sex with me if she knew she was going to break up with me the next day?

We were only dating three months, she fell just as quickly as I did. I mean, you couldn’t blame me for doing it either. She was the most beautiful woman I’ve seen in a long time. And the fact that I spend a good chuck of my time in a room full of gorgeous women everyday, because of my job as a casting director, she could knock every single one of them out of the ball park. She was tall, brunette, and had the silkiest skin on the planet. She was a goddess and she knew it too.

I watch her pace back and forth attempting to explain her reasoning for breaking us up. She can’t look up at me, but I want her to so bad. I just want to see it on her face, if she’s really done with me, her eyes will say it before her mouth comes out with it. She walks to the closet and removes her clothes on the hangars, and throws them into her suitcase. I try my best to calm her down to meet her gaze, but she will not let me, she keeps pushing me away. I start to wonder to myself, what have I done? I couldn’t think of anything, but that doesn’t mean anything. I know how women are, they like to gossip to one another, so if there was a rumor going around about me and some girl I was casting in an upcoming film, she’d probably know about it before I do.

At one point of time, we could have been happy. Now instead I am standing in the doorway of my apartment feeling distraught. She’s gone. She was here for an hour never giving me a direct answer for her actions, and never told me goodbye. So, I’m here and I have no idea what to do next.

So, what do you think of this little free write, heartbreaking story?

February Playlist

Untitled

Howdy!

February has been a good musical month for me though. I’ve heard a lot of good songs over the last couple of weeks. They actually appeared towards the end of January, I actually added two of them into last month’s list last minute because I felt as though I needed to share them with you at that moment. Hope you all enjoy this list of songs!

Speak To Me – Amy Lee
You Can’t Rely – Counterfeit
Bastards – Machine Head
The Middle – Zedd featuring Maren Morris & Grey
Sick Boy – The Chainsmokers
All These Years – Camila Cabello
Him & I – G-Eazy featuring Halsey
I Fall Apart – Post Malone
River – Eminem featuring Ed Sheeran
Filthy – Justin Timberlake
Gensis – Ruelle
Geromino – Sheppard
This Is The End – RAIGN
Keep Up – Rachel Platten
Scream It Out – Ellie Goulding
It Won’t Kill Ya – The Chainsmokers featuring Louane

I had fun with a couple of extended plays and I had one album review I did too! I’m hoping to continue to more for March but we’ll just have to see about it. I have decided officially that I will not be discussing G-Eazy’s new album as I had planned. I don’t do a lot of rap music on my blog, so I don’t know how to breakaway from my normal mindset while also paying attention to a person rap very quickly at the same time. The only reason why I did Mike Shinoda’s was because I already knew what I was getting myself into before I even started writing anything down.

If you want to hear the full playlist click here.

Are There Two Babies?

Howdy!

Well… I’ve got one heck of a surprise for you today!

You’re all probably thinking by the title of this blog post that I am going to be an aunt of two little babies, but as far as I know, there isn’t a second baby in there, but I do have some interesting news to share with you.

My cousin Kristi is expecting baby number two!

Right now, she’s ten weeks into her pregnancy! And I guess we’re calling this one “peanut” again, since we already have a “nugget” I don’t know why everybody is choosing to give their fetuses foodie nicknames at the moment but I’m not arguing! Especially with two very pregnant women! Anyways, it came as a shock to everyone; maybe even to Kristi the most who we all definitely heard back in November say that she wasn’t going to have another one for “a long time.” And then this was announced on Facebook!

26805229_10215131456185482_7615171585538341973_n

Speaking of Facebook! Another reason why I wanted to do this post is because originally I was going to talk about the gender reveal party for Blondie and Brandon, but since we had that big snow storm last month, they’ve been a little worried that we’d get a second or third storm in the meantime and nobody would be able to come down or get stuck here, so they ended up cancelling it and decided on announcing the sex of the baby on Facebook. My mom got the idea of putting all of their animals in their bathroom and wrapping the string of the right color balloon on their collars and after the door opens, they run out of there and it reveals the gender! The video itself was a bit chaotic because both Chipper and Gru ran out of there so quickly that you couldn’t really see the balloons at first and then Otis, Samuel and Toni had different colored balloons, so although it was a cute announcement, it had its moments of confusion as well! It was a nice and belated Valentine’s Day gift.

Unfortunately I’m unable to share the video on here! So this is all you’re getting for a while!

IT’S A BOY!

Considering I was thinking it would be a girl, I was a bit stunned on the fact I was very wrong! Nolan Wayne is going to be his name. They’ve changed it a lot. So I’ve been debating whether or not I wanted to share it on here in case they decide to do it again.

Now we can start buying things that are not white or gray for the little nugget! Trust me, it’s a little harder to find neutral stuff at Walmart or Dollar General. At least for me it is! I am happy that his life will be fill of Legos, trains, cars, sports, muddy clothes, and of course superheros! I’m going to invest on a pair of Avengers sneakers and a Butler University onesie for him! Oh, I’m going to have so much fun spoiling this little guy!

I wanted to share some of Blondie’s baby bump pictures on here! The first two I had to edit myself because she didn’t put how many weeks she was on the actual pictures like she’s been doing lately! She’s also not constantly putting them up either. Kristi wasn’t that way either when she was pregnant with Joseph, so I don’t think she’ll do it with the new baby, but since Joe is away she might consider it down the line. If she’s comfortable with sharing any of them on here especially whenever I do a baby shower (that is if she has one!) post for her!

I just thought I’d share some of the exciting news with you all! And considering it’s a Monday and everything, you might need that little bit of happy news! Hope everybody has a wonderful day!

Can you guess what little nugget’s name going to be? Or do you have any name suggestions that go great with big brother Joseph?

Favorite Nicholas Sparks Movies!

rather

Howdy!

Wednesday is Valentine’s Day, so if you’re single and don’t want to associate yourself with the day as a whole, I’d be getting your essentials the day before and stay in all day long! Now for those of you who have to work or be around family and/or friends who drive you crazy about the fact that you haven’t met your “soul mate” yet, just breathe and think happy thoughts. I’d still buy one or two bottles of wine for that night just so you’re covered though.

Well, as much as I don’t believe in love at first sight, even though I’m still a sucker for both old school Disney princesses, I have decided that I needed to discuss about my love for Nicholas Spark romance movies. I know, I know!

Before I worked on this post, I decided to put up a poll on both Facebook and Twitter. I figured I’d get a big amount of feedback because I know how much these books and their movies are so lovable, however I didn’t get as many people as I thought I’d get, but everybody seems to enjoy The Notebook and The Best Of Me the most! I’ve decided on four movies to talk about today! I originally had five, but I quickly realized that I’ve actually never finished The Longest Ride. I do remember starting it, but I never made it to the middle of it. I’ll be honest I only wanted to watch it because it had both Scott Eastwood and Britt Robertson in it. I adore the two of them. Hopefully one day finish the rest of the film!

4. The Lost Song (2010) – Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth, Kelly Preston, and Greg Kinnear

Since I’m not exactly into romantic movies, I definitely didn’t watch this immediately after it was released on DVD. I think I saw it after I watched both Dear John and The Lucky One since they both appear to have been released the same year! To my brain, it would have been easier to get through them all at once and when you have a younger sister with a boyfriend at the time, you are looking for hopes that you’re going to have soulmate someday soon and I think that’s how it happened!

Unfortunately, I’ve only seen it once because I honestly didn’t like it as much, I thought it reminded me too much of Hannah Montana, since Miley’s character is into music in this movie. Another thing that these movies are good at, is making me cry! And to think, I did this multiple times to myself. Anyways, since only seeing it once or twice, I don’t really remember everything that happened but I am kind of happy that Miley Cyrus met Liam Hemsworth on that movie and that they’ve been together this long! I just find that really sweet!

3. Dear John (2010) Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried

Surprisingly, I have very vivid memories of this movie! I got the idea to do this post because this one was playing on Starz all month long. I haven’t decided whether or not I want to watch it. Like I said, I’m pretty sure Blondie and I actually went out to the movies to see this one, I don’t remember exactly but I think she brought her friends Jayde and Jace, because they all wanted to see it too. They sat next to me while I sunk down in my seat, trying to get through this in one piece. Thankfully we all cried and were pissed off at Amanda Seyfried after it was finished, so I wasn’t too alone in my feelings!

2. The Lucky One (2012) Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling, Blythe Danner

All right, as we continue on this track, the memories are getting stronger and stronger. I definitely remember this one, although there are times where I get it confused with Charlie St. Cloud too because they both have Zac Efron and the military aspect is in it too. I also thought they both were NS movies, but I literally just found out that it isn’t so I had to leave it off of this list.

I think this one is pretty sexual, compared to the other movies, but since I’ve seen such a limited amount of Nicholas Sparks movies, I can’t necessarily say that the others are about the same even TLR is right up there too!  I did enjoy this more than Dear John though, it didn’t really irritate me as much and it was pretty sweet too, but let’s be honest I could only be saying that because Zac Efron is in it!

1. Safe Haven (2013) Josh Duhamel, Julianne Hough, Cobie Smulders

This is definitely one of my favorite movies! I didn’t see this theaters like I did with the others, but I think I did that for a reason. Since dealing with the two above and the other romance movies, I think I’ve finally learned that it’s better to watch these movies in the comfort of your own room! My mom got it for me to watch for a night, and I watched it on my laptop and I really enjoyed it. Everything about it was easy to follow, parts of it were hard to watch because this was the same year that my sister was going through her troubles with her ex-boyfriend at the time, so I had to pause through it a couple of times just to get myself time to relax.

The ending has to be my favorite part though, not because the movie was done, but the content that they added in about a certain character. I am a sucker for those moments when they leave you breathless, it doesn’t happened very often so whenever it does, the movie will be embed into my brain for the rest of my life. Of course, I cried that much harder and basically had to tell my mom that she shouldn’t watch (and she never did) but they were genuine and good tears compared to the ugly crying I did for the others!

Are you a fan of the Nicholas Sparks books or films? What is your favorite?

OOTD: Valentine

16729433_1386987274698932_4082250858181875025_n

Hi 🙂

I bet you’re wondering why I am posting again, well yesterday I went for my first day in physical therapy and I went to my nana’s house afterwards, so I got dressed all fancy for Valentine’s Day! I also want to apologize for the brightness on the pictures. My mom put me right in the direction of the sunlight and I knew this would happen. I tried to fix it on PicMonkey but it was driving me crazy and they would not let me save them without creating an account first. So hopefully everybody that reads this post will understand. Oh, and you’re going to love my expressions!

Okay, let’s start this off! On Sunday, my mom, sister and I had ourselves a girl’s day out and we went to a bridal expo, which I will talk more about sometime next month. We also went to Wal-Mart and I still had a gift card from Christmas and I used it up in one day buying all new clothes! Retail therapy has its perks!

First things first, we have to discuss something. My mom has the worst time lifting me up into the car while I wear my coat. She cannot get ahold of my arms and safely put me into the seat, so we’ve had to remove it beforehand. We found a rack of shawls as we were passing by and we thought we’d try one out. I went for the green and blue plaid colored one. The shawl was $5! Surprisingly, it works and what I love about it, is that I can wear it in the “right” way, where my hands are placed on the outside of it (even though they’ll be colder that way!) and it doesn’t look silly on me because of my skrawny arms.

16708389_1386987264698933_4340153308252606875_n

Underneath is a red top, and we found this as we were looking at the different holiday shirts. I am sucker for clothes with sayings on it, I always have been! This one is just a simple outline of a heart in white with the word “love” written in the middle. I am happy that the lettering is large enough that even if I don’t move my arms over, people can still read what it says without a problem. That is always a plus with me!

This shirt was probably $7.88, but don’t count me on that!

16681673_1386988341365492_5744070196050849415_n

As far as my leggings, I had two options. I have another gray pair of leggings, they are a darker gray with a light gray floral pattern. I thought those would look good with the shirt, but that night I realized I still had my “lace” ones too! They’re not made out of lace, but they have that lace-y look to them. They’re a gray, almost white background while the actual lace-floral pattern is in black. I love these but I haven’t had anything that goes with them until now!

16730120_1386988684698791_1214116563308981912_n

To finish out my outfit, I wore red socks that have little Christmas trees on the sides to tell you which is left or right. My Aunt Laurie got me these as a Christmas present. Unfortunately, I may have to stop wearing them because of the material just sheds everywhere! My mom and I tend to have scraps of red all over us by the end of the day! They keep my toes very warm at night anyways!

So what do you think of my outfit? Yay or nay?
