Movies I Want To See In 2017 | July-December

movie

Hi 🙂

I am back with the second part of the movies I would like to see in 2017! I’m starting to find a way to put up both posts to start their sections, however I’ve found it’s best to not be too organized because whenever I go to look up each one on YouTube, sometimes the trailers are not available and then I feel stuck. I only share the ones that trailers out, that way in case other people have no idea what I am talking about, they can watch it afterwards!

Honestly though, I have only seen two of the films I listed at the beginning of the year. They are Beauty and the Beast (my sister has claimed Belle as her favorite and yet she did not watch it with us – she hates British accents!) and the other was Finding Dory. This spring has been a roller coaster so I haven’t pushed to see anything. It’ll be around September I might actually get to make a dent into my list, at least I’m hoping so! If you would like what I added onto part 1 you can read that here and I hope you enjoy this list too!

Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 17th) starring Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr. and Zendaya

I would be lying if I didn’t said I’m still unsure about this film. Granted I loved the fact that Iron Man brought Spider-Man into the whole fighting scenes in Captain America: Civil War but I still love Jake Gyllenhaal as Peter Parker. I mean, he looked like nerd, not so much on the high school student but you get the gist. I’m actually surprised with myself though because sometimes I like the reboots, but I am just iffy about this one. I’m also not a big fan of Tony Stark either so that might be another reason why I’m feeling all weary about it.

Atomic Blonde (July 17th) starring Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, and John Goodman

I saw this trailer back in late March and fell in love with it immediately. I saw it after bawling my eyes for the new Logan trailer. I still don’t know what it’s about, but I love action movies especially with badass characters in it. Let’s be honest though, anything where Charlize is kicking somebody’s ass is usually pretty damn good! And that’s enough for me. Oh, and James McAvoy’s in it too!

The Dark Tower (August 4th) starring Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey)

As I’ve heard on Twitter that this was based off of a book? It looks like it was, that’s for sure! I found it to be interesting that Idris is essentially the “good” guy and Matthew McConaughey’s character isn’t. I mean, these two are often flip flopped in their roles but I like it though. I think it looks pretty interesting!

Detroit (August 4th) starring John Boyega, Anthony Mackie, and Kaitlyn Dever)

I was unaware of this film until I actually saw it on Wikipedia’s list of films being released this year. It has the feel of a biopic essentially, based on a true story of what happened in Detroit in the early 70’s. A section sadly I’m not familiar with so I’m betting I would enjoy this!

Wind River (August 4th) starring Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner

Sometimes on the captions included on YouTube, beside the actors that’s featured on the film can say what category the movie is in, well I had been seeing “thriller” for the past two weeks and then I watched the trailer and thought it was interesting. I think it’s like a drama/thriller, kind of like Side Effects and The Girl On The Train.

The Glass Castle (August 11th) starring Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, and Naomi Watts

I read either at the end of the actual trailer or somewhere that this film was based off a book, so I think I might hold out seeing it and read the book first, but it does look good. Again, Woody Harrelson is in it so it’s going to be good!

The Hitman’s Bodyguard (August 18th) starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Gary Oldman

This looks like it’s going to be absolutely hilarious! Let’s be honest both Ryan Reynolds and Sam Jackson are funny as crap, but it’s a comedy mixed in with an action film. I’ve found a few of these over the years that seem like a good mix but I end up don’t liking as much as I thought I would, so despite thinking it looks good, I can’t say anything indefinitely that it’ll be great, I’m hoping for it nevertheless though!

American Assassin (September 15th) starring Dylan O’Brien, Michael Keaton, and Sanaa Lathan

I think I just put this film on here because of Dylan O’Brien and Sanaa Lathan. I do love these types of movies though, they put a LOT of fight scenes in and gives you an insight into the mindset of training too! Just watching the trailer made me want to know more, and then I found out it was based off a book and that kind of made me want to purchase the book first, like the other one!

Victoria and Adbul (September 22nd) starring Judi Dench and Ali Fazal

I think I might’ve started a problem. If I saw this, I would literally have seen three different women play Queen Victoria in the last year or so! Emily Blunt was in The Young Victoria (2009) Judi Dench plays the older version of her after the death of her beloved Prince Albert in this film, and last year I started watching Victoria on PBS played by Jenna Coleman. I still think this looks very interesting though!

Justice League (November 17th) starring Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher

I had to hold off on putting this one on the first post. I was very shocked to see the trailer of this like a week after they released the first promo for Wonder Woman in February I think. I’m still unsure about Ezra Miller playing the movie screen version of The Flash. I still think Grant Gustin would have been better, but you know! I’m excited to see Ben Affleck as Batman again, and really glad Jason Momoa is Aquaman!

Wonder (November 17th) starring Julia Roberts, Jacob Tremblay, and Owen Wilson

I saw this trailer circling around Facebook after it was first released, but I didn’t give in to it because I figured it was one of those sad commercials, which in a way I was right. I still cried but it was because the story itself seems very cutsy and inspiring! I’m just happy it comes out at the last of the year so I can watch it in peace once spring comes around!

What are you looking forward to the most? Have you seen any of the movies I included in the first post in January?

OOTD: Faux Blue Jeans!

Happy Monday!

Yesterday on Twitter I made the announcement that I wasn’t going to post this today because I wasn’t feeling good but then later on I realized that on Saturday I celebrated 6 years of blogging on here and I had no post for it… Even I’m a little disappointed with myself!

Last Friday, my mom and I took a trip to see my nana. I hadn’t been able to hang out with her like one-on-one since the end of April, so we’ve been needing some time to chitchat. It was a lovely visit with even better weather! So I was able to do another OOTD but since I’ve stopped publishing on the weekends, you’ve had to wait a bit to see my outfit! In my last one, I mentioned that I had another pair of capris to show off and earlier in the week I went back to Walmart and purchased two shirts this time!

I’ll go from top to bottom. I got another superhero shirt! It is gray with various different superheros on the front with the word “Marvel” in big, bold, white letters that you cannot see thanks to my arms! I think I just buy these hoping to have at least one X-Men on it, but I don’t think I got lucky here. Honestly, the only ones I recognize on the entire shirt is Iron Man and Thor. I was really struggling to figure them out, there was no asking my mom. Apparently she can’t tell between “green” and “yellow”! Oh, in case anybody’s counting, this is my third Marvel shirt!

Now about my pants! The day we found these, I was a bit dumbfounded because I’ve had leggings that looked like jeans before. They were tight and the pattern was made so it looked like they’ve been worn forever and you had torn it to pieces! The difference was it was easy to put on and remove which is great for any wheelchair user! Unfortunately, they did have one downfall, the material use was rough and I didn’t actually wear them very much!

These are completely and 100% different as they are smooth to the touch on both top and underneath! They sort of remind me of “basketball pants” as my mom and I called them back in the day! They are sleek and soft, which is awesome for my legs! They retain heat just like regular jeans! They look like jeans and that’s what seems to freak my mom and I out, like where were these when I was in middle school?! My only negative thought about it is they are not skinny on my calves but hopefully I’ll find some others that are snug around that area!

What do you think of my outfit of the day? Yay or nay? What do you think of faux clothing garments, like jeans? Do you think they can become a thing?

Movies I Want To See | January-June 2017

movie

Hello!

So I am back with my “Coming Soon” movie post that I’ll be doing twice this year! Now that we’ve entered 2017, it’s perfectly fine at looking ahead of the films that will be able to check out! I personally love doing these posts, but it gave me something to look forward to complete throughout the whole year! I was really disappointed in myself of how many new films I checked out in 2015, that when I decided to pick out different ones I wanted to see for 2016, I made it my mission to at least watch more than the five or six movies I had seen between both 2014 and 2015 alone!

I am still missing only a few that were included on the second half post, which I figured I would since I had added a lot of films from October to December, even I knew I wouldn’t go out to see them. For 2017, I tried to shorten my list but that didn’t necessarily work out well for me!

Underworld: Blood Wars – Kate Beckinsale, Theo James, and Charles Dance (January 6th)

This was a film that I was hoping would come out around October 2016. I saw some advertisements that it was originally supposed to come out this past year, but it got switched to an early January release, hence the early postage!

I really love this series despite the fact that my love of vampires is losing my interest. I can not have this one my list though! My dad is even looking forward to this sucker too!

Sleepless – Jamie Foxx, T.I., Michelle Monaghan, Dermont Mulroney (January 13)

I saw this and I immediately thought of both Takers and Triple 9, but I have to say that even though the themes are the same I am still looking forward to it. I really do have a weakness to action based movies like this so there may be many remakes of these films as long as the action is the shit, I’ll continue to watch them!

The Comedian – Robert De Niro, Leslie Mann, Danny DeVito (January 13)

You know, I really hate “dirty comedy” as I like to call it. I’m old school, I just like regular, non-sexual, or offensive (well a little is okay in my book!) and I’m hoping that this film, mostly because Robert De Niro is in it that it’s too, too bad.

xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage – Vin Disel, Samuel L. Jackson, Nina Dobrev, and Ruby Rose (January 20)

When I heard about this film and finally saw the trailer, I was like is it even worth watching it?

I don’t know anything about it, so if there are two other films of the series than I’m going to have to watch them but then again I don’t. I mean, I didn’t even watch the Iron Man, Thor, and/or Caption America films before I watched The Avengers and look how addicted to that I am!

Split – James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jessica Sula, and Haley Lu Richardson (January 20)

Now this is a film that I am extremely interested in seeing, even though I know it’ll just scare the living shit out of me!

I saw this trailer and thought, Blondie is going to love this! I texted her that night about it, telling her she needed to see the trailer – she had already seen it and had it on her list too! It comes out 3 days shy of her birthday!

A Dog’s Purpose – Josh Gad, Dennis Quaid, and Britt Richardson (January 27)

Surprisingly, this is the only “G” film on my list for the first six months of 2017. I thought it was cute and interesting how these dog breeds go to different people and it kind of explores reincarnation in a way too!

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter – Milla Jovovich, Ali Lanter, and Iain Glen (January 27)

I am ecstatic to see this one coming out this year too!! I’m really glad that the two films that I sort of said “no” to a long time ago have now become a beloved batch of films. I am a bit worried about how much sci-fi will be in it compared to the first film.

PS: I have never seen the first, well I’ve seen only the first five minutes of it. I just couldn’t do it!

Tulip Fever – Alicia Vikander, Judi Dench, Zach Galifiankis and Dane DeHaan (February 24)

I don’t know if you want to put this in a historical category, I kind of want to since it does talk about how women were treated in the 18th and early 19th centuries. So I’m more curious about this one and it’ll probably be one of the last films from this batch I’ll watch in 2017 because I usually go for action first than dramas.

Logan – Hugh Jackman, Patrick Strewart, and Richard E. Grant (March 3)

I usually try to wait to watch any new movie trailers until it gets down to the time I am going to write up these posts so I don’t overwhelm myself, but I knew once the trailer came out I would break protocol and I’m glad I did.

I am very sad that this will be Hugh Jackman’s final portrayal of “Logan” or “Wolverine” as most of us call him. I am such a big fan of his that this trailer practically made me cry! Both Logan and Charles are getting older and despite changing events in Days Of Future Past apparently mutants are having a difficult time surviving again! Do they ever get a good decade or something? Anyways, I am both sad and excited to see this one!

Beauty and the Beast – Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, and Josh Gad (March 17)

I’m surprisingly more excited about this remake of Beauty And The Beast than I thought I would! I loved the Disney animated version and still mad that my own sister had to like MY movie and princess! I had to switch princesses after already falling in love with that library!

I keep going off subject here! I will probably turn into a critic when this sucker comes out, but something tells me any die-hard of the original will be too! So it should be interesting to say the least!

Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 – Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Disel (May 5)

This was a last minute addition because honestly I wasn’t really interested in the first Guardians Of The Galaxy movie. I mean, I love Nebula and Gamora, but I’ll be totally honestly the only reason why this is on this list is because of baby Groot like seriously that opening was adorable and hilarious!

Baywatch – Dewayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, and Alexandra Daddario (May 26)

This is still shocking me that this is on my list… I mean, despite being a 90’s baby I don’t really remember watching Baywatch all that much! I still think it’s only here because of both Zac Efron and Priyanka Chopra!

The Fate of the Furious – Vin Disel, Dewayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jason Statham (April 14)

If this wasn’t on my list, I’m pretty sure I’d be disowned on a big chunk of family! I do think the title is very intriguing because that could be a number of things about the cast or previous events in the last film. I have to say, I am looking forward to the whole switch up between the characters, Dom turning evil and then you have Own Shaw working with the team, which seems bad in all sorts of ways but also, I’m really forward to Charlize Theron playing a total badass, like seriously! Yes!

Wonder Woman – Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, and Robin Wright (June 2)

I have been looking forward to this one since it was announced that Gal was going to play Wonder Woman in Superman v. Batman like I was so happy and proud. I generally get excited whenever I see my favorite people from other films finally get recognition that they deserve and I think Gal playing Diana/Wonder Woman is such a brilliant decision! I was also happy about Ben Affleck as Batman, but we’ll talk more about that later this year I’m sure!

Transformers: The Last Knight – Mark Wahlburg, Peter Cullen, Josh Duhamel, and Tyrese Gibson (June 23)

Last one on my list for the first six months of 2017! I was sent to me by my cousin and I had to wait all day long to watch the trailer, it was worthwhile but not going to lie, I almost started crying towards the end – I’m a big Bumblebee fan! I love Optimus so I’m curious about why he’s so evil. I’ve tried reading the comments on the bottom of this trailer but seems like everybody’s a bit confused about if Optimus is under mind control or if that is him at all. I am pumped that we have both Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson back for this film too!

What film(s) are going excited about seeing this year?

What’s The Point In Acting?

14449989_1229736103757384_8740104639273945052_n

Hi 🙂

I have been wanting to write about this topic for a while.. I think it is a very controversial subject to discuss among the disabled community considering they are the ones who inspired me to even bring it up on my blog today.

I have been a lover of films since I was a little girl. I don’t think I’d ever become an actress because I’m not good at accents. However, if you were to ask any of my family members they would tell you I’m very animated and have a great sense of humor, but this isn’t about me per se.

My love of movies goes back a ways, like to when I was seven years old watching Michael Bay’s Bad Boys with my mother. I just saw the humor and all of the action sequences that I wasn’t really interested in anything else. It wasn’t until probably the early 2000’s that I actually remember watching a film and wanting to know basically everything about the story, characters, and the actors that were making these people come to life.

Growing up, I didn’t have too many disabled role models, at that time, I didn’t even know that many people or kids with other disabilities! I do remember the first time I was introduced to a disabled character though, it was 2003’s Daredevil the character Matt Murdock was played by Ben Affleck and as much as I loved him for that role, I was completely unfazed by the fact there was an able-bodied actor playing a blind man.

Prior to watching Daredevil, the whole superhero phase was in its infancy for me. It either happened while we were home for a week while I was recovering from my second surgery or after I was officially released from the hospital that my dad bought the X2 and I discovered Wolverine and I figured out that if he had metal in his body, that maybe I was a wolverine too! This was the start of why I love superheros so much! As other disabled and able-bodied people alike think that they promote ablism I have to disagree, I look at them and their stories as motivation for my own!

Let’s move on to recent films, because there have been a couple of films have been released almost back-to-back from each other. We have the adaption of John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars in 2014 and JoJo Moyes’s Me Before You in 2016. I remember seeing the trailers for both of the movies just before they were to be released in theaters and I was more curious about the story itself than I was about the disability theme that both had discussed; you have in TFIOS where both characters have dealt with cancer and then Gus losing his leg through his battle with it. Whereas in MBY you have the lone character who is paralyzed from the neck down and is very suicidal and you have people who are trying everything they can to change his mind about ending his life again.

I had decided to read the The Fault In Our Stars after my sister bought it on my Kindle. If she hadn’t done that, I probably would have watched the movie without even considering it.  After I watched the movie I was still in love with the characters and their friendship with one another. I wasn’t following a lot of the online disability community as much as I do now, so I don’t really remember what they thought of both Shailene Woodley and especially Ansel Elgort, who plays the character with an amputee but I know they probably wouldn’t have given him any mercy. The reason why I say that is because when Me Before You came out earlier this year, the whole community erupted!

It seemed they were more upset with Emilia Clarke who plays “Lou” who takes care of Will (as played by Sam Claflin) who is paralyzed and in a wheelchair. I do remember trying to keep my mouth shut throughout both times this movie came out and I agree with some of the reasons.

I am over the fact that everytime we have a disability related film out, it’s over the lines of pity and sympathic to the people who are dealing with these conditions. People are stereotyping who we are and that isn’t fair to us, however I’m not exactly for the whole thing of bashing the actors who are playing these people. We don’t know how we got these roles. I often wonder if they were sought out by the casting directors and if that’s the case, that’s who everybody should have directed their anger towards when the film came out.

The last film I want to discuss is the 2014’s The Theory Of Everything the story about Stephan Hawking and this was the movie that made me think about what I preferred to seeing for these movies. I’ll explain more about that in a minute. I watched this knowing all about Dr. Hawking, but nothing about how he was before he was diagnosis with Lou Gehrig’s disease in 1963. I thought Eddie Redmayne was a brilliant choice to bring this person to life for younger generations to understand, because I know of Stephan Hawking as the physics dude from many talks about relativity and quantum theory thanks to my papaw! This movie was the reason why I wanted to read Me Before You before watching the movie because I wanted to see how Will is potrayed in the beginning of the book. Eddie is only a good choice because they show Stephan as a normal, “abled” person that Stephan was before he had the condition.

So what is the point to acting? I don’t even know if I really answered that question above. Just so everyone realizes, I do have strong feelings about actors that play disabled characters, whether they’re fictional or real people. However, I try to keep an open mind and sometimes it doesn’t bother me which was the real reason for this post, but there some shows that aren’t so lucky. I believe I have tried to explain my reasons for seeing the positive in the superhero or disability themed films despite the fact that there isn’t a single handicapped actor for these roles but as I thought about it I think we would have harder time accepting if they used CGI on a disabled actor if that role required them to be this normal person, so we have nothing to really complain about because it wouldn’t work out well anyway!

So what do you think of my theory? I want your honest opinions, but please respect that these are my feelings too!

Antagonist Vs. Villain

tumblr_mvfou2frdc1s0d1f3o2_500

Howdy!

I am a big nerd! I may not be all about books, but there are films and TV shows that were inspired from novels and comic books that brought the characters to life. As you probably know I am a big fan of superheroes; mostly on the Marvel side than DC or any other comic books. I don’t know how it started exactly, I just remember being in the living room lying on the couch watching X2 with my dad and that’s how my obsessed with Wolverine and Rogue started!

I’ve wrote a couple of different X-Men posts over the years. Starting with Mutant and Proud after I watched X-Men: First Class and we were introduced to our favorite mutants a whole lot younger! I’ve always seen Erik/Magneto as this troubled mutant who basically hated the human race. When I watched this film though, I finally understood why he was like the way he was and what changed him. In all honesty, I understood both sides of the argument of Charles’s way of blending in and controlling their powers. Whereas Erik was more about embracing your true self, letting yourself have everything and don’t care about what everybody thinks. Somehow after watching First Class and then changing direction and watching Man Of Steel the story of Superman, I wrote Waiting For Superman explaining how I saw the stories of these characters in a different way. Trying to explain to the reader that people and young kids with disabilities feel the same way. We’re being pulled both ways of attempting to blend in and embracing yourselves. It’s a complicated process that never really ends.

tumblr_n3xp1p3kta1swdsh3o3_500I didn’t want this post being about my previous posts, I wanted to discuss the theory that we’re looking at villains all wrong. What we think is a bad guy may not be. Several weeks ago, the question was asked during a Twitter chat for nerdy bloggers, like myself, “is there a difference between an antagonist and a villain?” I first said Draco Malfoy was more like an antagonist than a villain because he mostly wanted to impress his father and the rest of Voldemort’s party. I never thought he was a bad guy, he just had a lot of bad influences around him. And then I started thinking about Magneto and how in ways, he’s not exactly a villain either. He genuinely had a good heart; he hid it very well, but it was still there. He showed it for other mutants that were being abused by others who wanted to use, and ultimately destroy them.

Everybody is born with good intentions, even our most prized super villains like Dark Phoenix, Mystique, and Magneto. We keep forgetting–I keep forgetting–that people have a breaking point and they just lose it. The good runs out and the evil overcomes them. The ego takes over and controls their power, but like Professor X, you have to dig deep to find the good in that person. Everything can harden, but you can’t harden your heart. No matter how you try, of course, you have to also understand that not everybody can be saved either.

Are there any characters in books, movies, and TV shows that you’ve found more like an antagonist rather than a villain? Why do you believe in them that they can change?
