Are There Two Babies?

Howdy!

Well… I’ve got one heck of a surprise for you today!

You’re all probably thinking by the title of this blog post that I am going to be an aunt of two little babies, but as far as I know, there isn’t a second baby in there, but I do have some interesting news to share with you.

My cousin Kristi is expecting baby number two!

Right now, she’s ten weeks into her pregnancy! And I guess we’re calling this one “peanut” again, since we already have a “nugget” I don’t know why everybody is choosing to give their fetuses foodie nicknames at the moment but I’m not arguing! Especially with two very pregnant women! Anyways, it came as a shock to everyone; maybe even to Kristi the most who we all definitely heard back in November say that she wasn’t going to have another one for “a long time.” And then this was announced on Facebook!

26805229_10215131456185482_7615171585538341973_n

Speaking of Facebook! Another reason why I wanted to do this post is because originally I was going to talk about the gender reveal party for Blondie and Brandon, but since we had that big snow storm last month, they’ve been a little worried that we’d get a second or third storm in the meantime and nobody would be able to come down or get stuck here, so they ended up cancelling it and decided on announcing the sex of the baby on Facebook. My mom got the idea of putting all of their animals in their bathroom and wrapping the string of the right color balloon on their collars and after the door opens, they run out of there and it reveals the gender! The video itself was a bit chaotic because both Chipper and Gru ran out of there so quickly that you couldn’t really see the balloons at first and then Otis, Samuel and Toni had different colored balloons, so although it was a cute announcement, it had its moments of confusion as well! It was a nice and belated Valentine’s Day gift.

Unfortunately I’m unable to share the video on here! So this is all you’re getting for a while!

IT’S A BOY!

Considering I was thinking it would be a girl, I was a bit stunned on the fact I was very wrong! Nolan Wayne is going to be his name. They’ve changed it a lot. So I’ve been debating whether or not I wanted to share it on here in case they decide to do it again.

Now we can start buying things that are not white or gray for the little nugget! Trust me, it’s a little harder to find neutral stuff at Walmart or Dollar General. At least for me it is! I am happy that his life will be fill of Legos, trains, cars, sports, muddy clothes, and of course superheros! I’m going to invest on a pair of Avengers sneakers and a Butler University onesie for him! Oh, I’m going to have so much fun spoiling this little guy!

I wanted to share some of Blondie’s baby bump pictures on here! The first two I had to edit myself because she didn’t put how many weeks she was on the actual pictures like she’s been doing lately! She’s also not constantly putting them up either. Kristi wasn’t that way either when she was pregnant with Joseph, so I don’t think she’ll do it with the new baby, but since Joe is away she might consider it down the line. If she’s comfortable with sharing any of them on here especially whenever I do a baby shower (that is if she has one!) post for her!

I just thought I’d share some of the exciting news with you all! And considering it’s a Monday and everything, you might need that little bit of happy news! Hope everybody has a wonderful day!

Can you guess what little nugget’s name going to be? Or do you have any name suggestions that go great with big brother Joseph?

Another Baby In The Family?!

2

Howdy!

So I have some news…

Blondie and Brandon are pregnant! As I announced on Twitter back in October, I’m going to be an aunt to a non-fur baby! The reason why I said it like that was because the way Blondie posted it on her social media accounts was a picture of Otis, Toni, Gru, Samuel and Chipper’s front paws and the last one were the two strong lines on the pregnancy tests!

The day she did it of course was kind of weird. She texted me because she couldn’t reach mom, as she was doing laundry at the time I think, so she was distracted and for once I actually could read her message (my phone has been a bitch lately!) to have mom call her and it was so strange I kind of felt in my gut that she was calling to tell us she was pregnant. I’m not joking or saying this for the blog either! I get these strong gut feelings sometimes.  When mom finally did call her and they talked for a couple of minutes, and she came into my room to put her on speaker and I instantly knew that I was right. However, I think I was so in shock that I was correct that I didn’t necessarily know how to react or what to say to her. I actually started laughing because it was the only thing I could do.

We were told not to say anything, but um… mom made the mistake of telling our dad while he was over at our neighbors and he just automatically told all of them that he was going to be a grandpa! So any notion of keeping it between family members on both sides was kind of out of the question at that point!

It’s been a whole month but the reason why I waited was because I wasn’t exactly comfortable in coming out and stating that she was pregnant on here just yet. The only reason why I can say it now is because on the first day I wrote this post which was Nov. 8th, she went to get her blood worked on and got some tests done and they were the ones that told her that she was “very” pregnant. I know, that when a doctor says that she’s just making sure that she was right and that she is with child, but as soon as her that, I thought to myself, it almost sounds like she”s having twins. In my defense, everytime Blondie has kids in my dreams she always has two: a boy and a girl. Same goes with our cousin Kristi, I’ve always seen a boy with her, so maybe I will be right again!

She went to her first baby appointment and the little “nugget” is doing good! Blondie was wrong at how many weeks she was, she was seven weeks at the doctor so she is nine weeks when this post goes up! Our mom figured she’d have it in early June around papaw’s birthday, which would be really sweet since she was so close to him, but now it’s been changed to July 4th, but like I keep telling myself, he/she can make an appearance on June 30th too, which is Arthrogryposis Awareness Day! I’m gonna buy a newborn onesie in blue just in case! Anyways, in this last picture I’m including above everybody thinks he/she looks like an alligator or a shark, but Blondie and I don’t see it. I think it looks like a bite size nugget if I’m being honest!

EP Review: “New World: Part 1” by Krewella

18921687_1470247963034588_4553843728616117241_nJune 8th was a BIG day for the ladies of Krewella! They released their new EP called “New World” which had part 1 right next to it, which means we’ll probably be getting another one either sometime later this year or early 2018. They released an EP last year called “Ammunition” that I had a lot of fun reviewing considering I had no Spotify whatsoever. They put up their songs on their YouTube/Vevo account, which is what they did for the seven songs included in this sucker!

Jahan and Yasmin released one of these songs earlier this year, “Team” and the second single “Be There” went out last month, but I will go in order of the setlist and review them that way! Krewella generally does house, dubstep, techno, & drum and bass! They’re also known to be very personal in their lyrics and if you didn’t know both girls also lend their voices onto the tracks.

We begin with “Calm Down” and it was the first one I found on YouTube when I got online that evening! Jahan and Yasmin are kind of known for being very vocal and go heavy in their beats. They definitely don’t “pussy out” of their music or personalities and I love that and I feel like that this one represents that as a whole! It does have some soft moments but I actually like that, it gives the listener a break from the hard and increasing beat you hear throughout, I’ve already fallen in love with it. Second is “TH2C” which means “too high to care” if anybody wanted to know, and this has an exotic sound to it, sort of has a Japanese flare to it in the introduction. At least, that’s what I heard! It definitely has a pop sound, but it’s a fun one so I like it.

Next is “Fortune” that features Diskord, if you heard their last EP the first track “Beggars” also features Diskord on the track, so I’m liking to see that friendship go on into this EP as well! Sadly, I’ve still not heard of their music so I feel bad! This one is pretty chill, the tempo is slower but towards the end of the choruses and the girl’s voices become distorted the sound just sort of changes, but I think it could be the perfect summer anthem! “Love Outta Me” was a song that was released the week before, I hadn’t even heard it until like the day before this EP came out. This one gives me more of a house vibe, but it’s still pretty upbeat. I like it.

The next two songs were the ones that were released as promos. “Team” came out in December? I’m pretty sure around that time. All I remember that it was really cold outside when I heard it on the radio. It’s pretty catchy and almost sounds more pop-y, but I really the bass drop. I think this was our warning that something else was coming! I just didn’t think they’d release a new EP! After that is “Be There” and they just put out the music video of this track, I hadn’t heard it before I watched the video but I really enjoy it! I also loved seeing Jahan and Yasmin in those home videos and the road trips they’re family seemed to take a lot growing up. I also love that it could be a song for the two of them since they’re sisters! The last is “Parachute” and I will say when I heard this, I didn’t exactly like it as much. I was worried because it was like the second song I heard on YouTube after I realized they had released a selection of songs together. My in initial thought of it remains, it definitely has a pop-y sound to it, but it’s very soft and chill, more like a house track. It’s not bad for the second time around.

One thing I always like when Krewella release these EPs is that they’re always so experimental. Music is about evolution and the ladies stick to that motto and I love that! I think “New World” is a good title for this selection of songs since they all have a different flavor. Some have exotic sounds and pop-y vibes. I like this route and all I want now is more! I want to know what kind of sounds we can hear in part two! We’ll just wait out until they’re ready!

Have you heard of Krewella’s new extended play, “New World: Part 1”? What did you like or dislike about it!

No Pay For Me!

14079665_1074014312648132_2350313371219566383_n

Hello!

Recently, my lovely sister Emily aka Blondie, has been starting her own writing path. She’s been writing personal and thought-provoking articles on The Odyssey. I wouldn’t consider her a “newbie” as she’s written quite a few of blog posts on here. She’s also had a Tumblr in the past, so she’s published certain things on there too, but she’s never done anything like what she’s been putting up lately!

I have always wondered if she’d ever get on the writing train one day. I just figured she’d create a blog, but this was brought to her instead. I’m pretty proud of her for doing this, because she’s like me, she tends to hide away her thoughts and feelings, and if she doesn’t find a way to talk about them, she explodes! So I’m glad she has this outlet to share those things, like she can spread her message about finding love after a bad relationship, and whatever else she decides to share with the readers of the Odyssey community and everybody around the world!

Her first post was about Brandon, her fiance, some of you might know him as “Batman” as in the beginning that’s what I intended to call him on here. The article was called, To The One Who Saved Me. The next week she published one about spreading awareness and helping families, friends, and the victims of domestic abuse. It’s titled What You See Through The Eyes Of A Victim. If you’d like to read any other posts, just click her name on the top of the posts I’ve included and it’ll redirect you to the main menu of her articles.

Being a writer isn’t all that’s cracked up to be though! We do have our own critics – some more than others! We always over analyze if we should discuss this topic or not. And of course, she is also getting her own haters too! Thank god, she already has a thick layer of skin and she can deal with the trolls. I’m not saying, they won’t bother her at all, I mean, she still has feelings, but she doesn’t let other people’s words control her as they would for me.

One thing that is different between the two of us, she explained that Odyssey does in fact pay their writers, if they get to a certain point of popularity. Whereas I am not getting paid for any of mine. Now she didn’t exactly say she’s been getting money from the site, but she might one day if her popularity grows in the future!

I’ve had a lot of different people tell me in the last three years that I needed to get paid for my articles, but I just don’t want to. Which is interesting considering I’m the first person to defend a blogger that wants to monetize from the content they put on their site. I don’t have a problem with it, I just feel like I’m not ready for all that yet.

I think one of the biggest reasons why I don’t want to get paid is because of the dreaded word, “deadlines” every once in a while I do get a deadline for Disability Horizons and I had one every month for Bloggernation Magazine, but with those I didn’t get hammered if I didn’t have something done. All I had to do was ask for more time and usually I got that, I had maybe another full week to get things finished.

So no pay for me at this time.

I think maybe down the line I might change my mind, but right now? Nope. I know everybody means well, but I have to be ready for that next step. The whole thing is about having the experience and what my nana has explained to me is that it’s getting me out there and people will start to pay attention after a while. I’m also afraid that I’ll lost what is fun about blogging once I get to a certain stage. That’s why I am fine with doing more opportunities with other bloggers and/or digital magazines, I have made a whole section about that underneath my “About” called Press Pack if you want to check that out. It’s basically my blogging resume! It has all of my previous work on there and I’ve added some categories that I am comfortable writing about if you already an idea for a subject! If you’d like for me to write something for you, send me an email and let’s work something out that we both like!

Thanks for hearing me out!

What do you think about bloggers getting paid for different pieces?

Blondie’s Wedding Dress!

pic

Hey guys,

I’ve been open to discussing my thoughts about relationships and marriage recently, I like being able to talk freely about it. I’m still undecided whether or not I’d ever want to get married. Obviously, Blondie is getting married next year and I get the joy of being the maid of honor and knowing the horror of doing a speech at the reception. God help me!

I am all about tradition, despite not being interested in getting married. I still think the wedding dress should be kept secret from the groom, father, and pretty much everyone else except whoever goes with the bride to find the dress. So when my sister took her future husband-to-be I have to say I was a bit hurt, not because she was breaking traditions but that she decided to not let us, her family go with her instead. So he’s seen her dress as everybody on her Facebook and now her Twitter. I wasn’t even going to publish this because I wanted to keep it as a secret from you guys, but she ruined that idea when she posted the picture of herself wearing the dress at my nana’s one afternoon, so you can thank her for that!

The gown is from the Vera Wang “White” collection. She bought it at David’s Bridal back in mid-February (we had to wait four months to see what it looked like!) I think it’s very pretty, I like the bottom a lot. Apparently the one she tried on at DB wasn’t very full at the bottom and when she put it on the other day, it’s very fluffy! She didn’t want a train but ended up getting a small one. It has these vertical lines, I don’t know what you would call them – ruffles? I haven’t watched enough Say Yes To The Dress to learn all of that! Sorry! It’s a strapless dress, so it shows off her tattoos on her collarbone and shoulder which is what she wanted.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be my first choice. I think I would be married in a black dress or something with lace. It’s too plain for my taste with the front of it. If she likes it though, that’s all that really matters right? I mean, it is her wedding after all.

I’m a bit terrified about going bridesmaid shopping next month. As much as I love dresses and I know she won’t torture us too much on the style of it. I’m more afraid of the price of it. Blondie’s dress costs almost $1,000 and leave it to me to notice the tag when she and our mom were taking it out of the bag. I almost fainted! I’m not getting a dress that’s more $100, it just can’t happen. Call me cheap or whatever, but I’m not purchasing a dress that I’m only going to wear once and probably run over a few dozen times throughout the day! I mean, both of my prom dresses were under $60 a piece! Junior prom was maybe $30 and the last one was mainly for homecoming but I liked it so much that I wore it for senior prom too. It was originally $80 but it was on sale for $50!

I promise I’ll take pictures of everything for when we go dress shopping. It’ll be the first time you guys will see me in light pink or blush! I’m pale as a ghost and I’ll be trying on pink dresses, god help me!

Happy Birthday Blondie!

Howdy!

So I wasn’t going to even blog today, but I thought this was a special occasion. I needed to do something nice for my sister’s big day!

Today my little sister turns 21! We can both drink together! However I was told that she can’t exactly drink with her medication she’s on right now. So that part kind of sucks.  There are other ways to celebrate birthdays without alcohol. I guess, I could get a tub of chocolate ice cream? Or we could watch the High School Musical Reunion together, but I’m kind of running out of things to do with her!

It’s kind of difficult to talk about how much my sister means to me. Mostly because she sort of puts up this emotionless wall like I do. We’d rather not feel any kind of emotions. Anyways, I do remember when I was a freshman (and I hope I haven’t talked about this on here!) I took P.E. and I couldn’t do some of the activities that the other students could do, so I would borrow one of the other girls to do an activity with me instead. Some of these girls hated whenever I picked them because they would show it “silently” on their faces. Anyways one of these girls got on the subject of our siblings, and I started talking about Blondie. At this time, she was still in elementary school and I was basically bragging about her, how awesome she was when we were kids; what she does when somebody stares too much at me and all that. I wish I could remember how we ended our conversation.

I love you so much Blondie and I’m happy to be your big sister!

1454762_436470473142980_421510962_n

Sorry I couldn’t hold it much longer. I’m lucky I got through four days with only telling one person! I wasn’t originally going to include it in the same post either, but I didn’t want to wait for two weeks for an open spot!

Yeah, you read that picture right!

I got this random text message from her saying “so Brandon and I are engaged!! Don’t tell dad” Monday night. They were supposed to come down the night before, but dad was mad at her about a gift that she got early, no she’s not pregnant! I’ll explain in a couple of days I promise! Anyways, I kept my end of the deal and kept my mouth shut even though it was all over Facebook and she has quite a few of his friends on it. We’re all surprised nobody told him after seeing that status!

They wanted dad’s blessing! My dad didn’t know that was the reason they were coming down, so dad had him fix a few things on my TV. According to dad, the dude looked like he was going to have a nervous breakdown! He did give his blessing though, because I somewhat heard it and I immediately texted my sister because she and mom went over to drop off food for my nana and papaw or something. I told her “He asked, so far so good!” I don’t know which one I was more proud of, because that’s a big thing for both of them!

I did pretty good as far as handling emotions. That is, until my mom went and babbled that she was going to ask me to be her maid of honor. Now I got told not to tell our dad that he had already purposed and she sent that text out to both mom and I, and mom still babbled to me about this maid of honor stuff because “she couldn’t help herself, it was too exciting!” I’m still a bit weirded out mostly because she could have her close friends have this and she chose me. I know it’s an important role, but still I just don’t think I’m cut out for the job just because I’m the sister. I don’t know, it’s only been four days and I could like it instead of being the bridezella. Like my mom said, I get to plan the bridal shower! 😉

She already has a color theme: gray and pink. Our dad can wear a dorag (bandana) on his head as long as it’s in one of those colors! He’s already allowed to bring his motorcycle too! I’m comfortable with wearing a dress, but we’re going to have some serious chats about how pink these bridesmaid dresses will be, because I hate the color pink! They’ve even decided on a date sometime in October 2017! If you have advice to the happy couple and/or have any comforting words for me and my insecurities, I could use them too! Thanks!

Blogs That I Love #23

blogs

When I figured I’d go back to these posts, I didn’t think I’d actually keep up with it or have a difficult time selecting three bloggers for the post. I follow a LOT of blogs on Facebook, Twitter, and Bloglovin that it can be pretty overwhelming at times. So you could understand why I had to shorten my list down a bit from 5 to 3 a post. I knew that I wouldn’t feel comfortable continuing these posts into December either. I’ve got a lot of things lined up (mentally) and I need to focus on them first! I’m hoping I’ll bring them back once January starts!

  1. Blue Sky Daze – Sinead is growing to be one of my favorite bloggers of 2015! If I did a post of favorite bloggers of this year I’m pretty sure I’d pull out my hair! Honestly, all three blogs I’ve selected for this week would be on that list – how interesting! I really love her lifestyle and food posts the most. I also love the way she takes pictures. They look very professional and she’s been inspiring me to up my game lately!
  2. The Flower That Blooms – I don’t know but I honestly don’t follow a lot of sisters running one blog, I think I’ve only had two or three, but I’ve been going back to Lauren and Rachel’s blog recently. They talk an array of topics from fashion, beauty, to college related posts. Surprisingly, I’ve been reading their fashion posts! Rachel is more like me in a way though, she likes the darker side of clothes. Another topic I tend to read of theirs is anything to do with Lush. I’ve never used the stuff but the more I read the different posts about their products I want to, BAD!
  3. Missamrunaway – I love this girl! She’s the sweetest! She doesn’t share her name and that’s perfectly fine! She’s also a teenage, beauty, lifestyle, and kawaii blogger. I don’t necessarily know what the “kawaii” means but I’m sure I’ll find out soon! She does monthly blog post ideas, I love them so much! They’re so helpful for when your blogging mojo is nowhere to be found. She recently posted one full of Christmas post ideas that I might look through soon and find some inspiration for more posts for next month!
