October Playlist

Happy Halloween my friends!

I actually wondered if I would publish this or not; I’m not in my normal element at the moment. October in general hasn’t been a regular month, I have been staying at my mom’s work, she is a nurse at a nursing home and this is my second time here, I came roughly around the same time in 2017, when my mom had surgery, I only stayed for eight or nine days whereas I’m going on my fourth (and hopefully final) week, and I’d like to get back to some of my old routine again.

Anyways, I’ve had some issues with being able to type between trying to find the perfect level and lessen the amount of swelling on my feet, it’s been somewhat difficult. I did, however, write up my posts from last week in advance so I was smart in that regard but since I figured I’d been home by now, I didn’t exactly bother to do this one.

I would like to write up a full post of my experience here so I will not be discussing much about this month, just going ahead with the October playlist for you instead. If you would like to check out the rest on Spotify, click here.

I was able to listen to one album before I left, and it was Icon For Hire’s sixth called “The Reckoning” and it has become my new favorite lately and perfect for Halloween too! Speaking of holiday tunes, I think I will be doing a couple of album reviews for Christmas, because you know how much I love doing blogmas every year. So, down in the comments I want to see your guesses on what recent release is on my list for this year.

What were you listening to this month?

Ultimate Fall Playlist

Hello!

September is always a favorite time for me. We are in the middle of two seasons: the end of summer and start of autumn. If you didn’t know, fall is my absolute favorite with spring closing in–mainly because after a blistering cold winter, I crave warmer weather once March comes around.

A lot of people don’t like this time of the year. I can understand their reasons though, because stores tend to bring out various holiday decorations out way too early. I’m looking at you Christmas! Anyways, this month symbolizes a lot of things for me. The most important is pumpkins!

My need to decorate pumpkins as my favorite characters or paint lyrics on the side of it becomes very strong during the early weeks of the month. I do have some plans for them, especially to cement the tradition to my little nephew into enjoying the release of creativity as well! However, you will have to wait for those incoming posts, as I will be talking about my favorite music to listen to, in the wake of the changing colors and weather.

I feel like many people would assume listening to sad music would be perfect for this time. Honestly, it’s not a bad idea! We tend to get a lot of rain between September to the end of November, so you’re not that off the mark.

For my ultimate fall playlist, I have a mixture of both sad and upbeat tunes to enjoy in the next three months. So, I hope you enjoy what I have listed below.

Poison & Wine by The Civil Wars
Gemini Feed by Banks
Come Undone by My Darkest Days
Photograph by Nickelback
Bloodstream by Ed Sheeran
Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood
Bad Romance by Halestorm
When You Break by Bear’s Den
Hard Times by Paramore
All Around by Flyleaf
The Bleeding by Five Finger Death Punch
Monster by Skillet
She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5
Disturbia by Rhianna
Dust To Dust by The Civil Wars
Broken by Seether featuring Amy Lee
Barefoot In The Park by James Blake featuring Rosalia
Why Do You Love Me by Charlotte Lawrence
Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You by Cary Brothers
Blood by In This Moment
All These Years by Camila Cabello
Paint It Black by Ciara
Thorne by Bring Me The Horizon
Badlands by Smoke Season
My Name Is Human by Highly Suspect
In The Darkness by Dead By Sunrise
Here by Alessia Cara

The one thing I wasn’t planning on was the amount of rock music I’d want to include the actual list. It seemed strange at first, but there are a lot of heavy metal songs that go perfectly with fall! Although I allowed this to happen, I did try to keep myself open to other genres too. If you don’t like rock music, there are some alternative, pop, and R&B songs in the whole playlist.

Honestly, my thought process was anything that reminds why I love about fall so much! So, there are of songs that make me think of going to football, homecoming, Halloween, high school in general. It’s always strange that May always makes me feel thankful that I am out of school, but once fall comes around I automatically want to absorb every bit of it over again. And the fact that lots of schools over the world have cancelled all fall sports, that overwhelming feeling has made me want to release it more to the world.

If you would love to check out the rest of the songs, please click this link and it’ll take you to where you need to go and listen. I hope you enjoy the entire selection.

What is your ultimate song that describes autumn perfectly? If you have more than one, that is fine, I’d like to see what makes you, you in these colder and dark months.

Music Monday | Linda Perry

Hello!

This series is suppose to be about my favorite music producers, people who basically inspired me to study become one in college ten years ago. What I didn’t plan on was second guessing myself on whether or not Linda Perry is a producer. I knew she was a songwriter and musician in her own right, but I wasn’t so sure about the other part. Just before I started writing this post, I finally broke down and checked online to see if she is and everything says she is in face a producer.

Although I wanted everyone to be an established producer in these posts, I felt that in the end, it really didn’t matter if she was or wasn’t. I mostly knew her as a songwriter to artists such as P!nk and Christina Aguilera.

I didn’t write my first song until probably fifth grade, I didn’t even keep it because the words just kind of came at me all of a sudden and I wrote them on a small piece of paper. Some people would think they were poems, but I always found myself correcting everyone that they were songs, but then they would come back and ask if I had any music with it, and I’d say no. As most songwriters, they like to come up with the melody and music before figuring out the lyrics. I was the total opposite, but only by default, I can’t play any instruments and never really wanted to, so maybe they are poems after all!

For most of my middle school years, I was writing songs about what was feeling and going through during my preteen years. I still have folders upon folders of songs I wrote in classes and even at home too. I hardly ever look through them even though I want to keep them safe for later. I don’t quite know what or why I would want to do that because I was more abstract in my words back then; I hardly ever made a song specifically for one person and I definitely never put the person’s name I had in my mind while coming up with the lyrics. I was smart that way I guess!

I remember the first time I ever listened to “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera. I always wished I could be that brave to release all of my emotions into creating something as wonderful as that song. I watched a documentary where Linda was discussing when she worked with her on second album “Stripped” back in 2002, and how she was teaching her how to let go and give herself up to the world and exposing feelings that we all feel at one point or another, and that obviously meant a lot to me in my teen years, leading up to high school. By the time, I became a freshman, I think I stopped writing them, and turned my attention to books. The last one I ever wrote was published on my old blog at the end of 2009 I think.

I do tend to like a person’s music better if they are the lead songwriter. I generally love what Linda has created for other artists, especially female singers. I have a slight obsession with singer-songwriters like Natasha Bedingfield, Halsey, Banks, Phoebe Ryan, Alessia Cara, Charlie Puth and Julia Michaels because I know they all have written songs. I hope one day I can help make my nephew understand why it’s important to start writing in a different platform; whether it’s blogging, bullet journaling, poetry, or songwriting. It’s a important habit to keep.

Have you ever written a song before? If you have, do you remember any specifics about the first one you wrote? Did you keep it?

April Playlist

Howdy!

This month was a little weird. I was forced into a detox after our internet carrier wouldn’t turn on our Wi-Fi until the 13th, which when we realized it wasn’t working at all was the 3rd, meant I had to go without it for about ten days. I was pissed, but I had to let it go because it was out of my and parents control.

I was going to surprise you with a couple of random music reviews this month, but since this happened I had to throw that idea out of the window. I also want to point out that I was without my Spotify for about nine days, so I was mainly listening to music on our music channels and iPod, but the majority of the songs included in this post are made up of everything that I heard on TV.

Here are my Top 20 songs for this month!

A New Day Has Come by Celine Dion
Adore You by Harry Styles
Girls Night Out by Debbie Gibson
Exhale by Plumb
Alive by Daughtry
Unforgettable by Godsmack
In The Dark by Bring Me The Horizon
The Box by Roddy Ricch
No Judgement by Niall Horan
Dancing On My Own by Calum Scott
Slide by H.E.R. featuring YG
God Only Knows by For Kings & Country featuring Echosmith
Peter Pan by Kelsea Ballarini
Boom by Krigare
Darkness by XVI
SOS by Elizaveta
I Love Me by Demi Lovato
Rooting For You by Alessia Cara
I Can Do This by Plumb
Dead In The Water by SPELLES

I wanted to talk to you about some of my favorite channels on Sirius XM. Technically, we get two different selection of music channels on my TVs, but I tend to listen Sirius a little bit more because they have people and other artists hosting shows or playlists. I have been really loving The Blend the most right now. It plays a lot of pop music but what I enjoy about the channel is that it doesn’t just air what is popular right now, they have artists that I know my mom use to listen to when my sister and I were younger, so there is some 80’s through 00’s light pop you’ll hear and if you listen to the station a lot like me, you will surprise yourself on what you end up liking for a few times!

There are two others I tend to switch back and forth a lot during the weekends, and they are The Pulse and The Velvet. The Pulse has always been a favorite of mine since the first time we got the package! They do have a cut off point though, they play any pop-rock music from 2000s to now. Although this seems rather short, I tend to enjoy it more because I have rediscovered old favorites like Train, who’s lead vocalist Pat Monaghan has he’s own spot perfectly titled “Train Tracks” and I have heard a lot of music I have never heard before and that’s been an exciting feature for me!

The Velvet is a totally different vibe, even though they too, play a lot of pop music too, but everybody on that channel is pure. There is not autotuned musicians or harsh screams that I tend to hear on various other stations. So, singers like Demi Lovato, Kelly Clarkson, James Arthur, etc are always a favorite to hear on there. It is very soothing when it is gloomy outside.

All of these types of music have been big inspirations to create my newest and favorite playlist right now: The Happy Playlist! I update it quite a bit but it has been really good on my everyday mindset and mood. I know I have talked about it in last couple of months, but I know if I feel out of it I can click shuffle and any one of those songs can give me one heck of a boost of confidence or energy! Everybody needs to do this, create a large playlist of songs that you know make you happy for whatever reason, so you can have it at your side at all times! Although, when I went through my detox I had to change it up a bit, but thankfully I have these Sirius XM channels to help me get through those days!

Do you have a happy playlist? If you said yes, what are your top five favorites? What were listening to during the month of April?

So what was your most played song of the first month of 2019?
