April Playlist

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you were able to enjoy the month of April, and you might be a little confused as to why I didn’t blog last week. I am hoping to explain more on Friday but I honestly needed an extra week to not only come up with content but take one heck of a break as well. At the beginning of this month, I got really sick with the stomach flu; unfortunately it is making its rounds in my home town so we have been dealing with the lingering side effects for at least a week after I got better and since I always take a nice break for a number of weeks, I thought you wouldn’t mind if I didn’t publish anything last week. If you or someone you know has been going through the cycle, I am so sorry and hope you start to feel better soon!

As far as talking about music for this month, it was a bit slow obviously, but it wasn’t until the 18th that I actually started to listen to a bunch of music again. It was very odd when I went to make my list to post on here, I literally had less than 15 songs on the Spotify playlist! Honestly I wanted food more than music in the first three weeks than anything else. Once I was able to get over the hurdle, I was really looking for my Discover Weekly playlist that Spotify creates for me every Monday. If the list is really good and practically spot on to the aesthetic I am vibing at the moment, I will listen to the whole thing multiple times a week and of course include any great tunes to the monthly playlist.

Here are the Top 20 songs for April 2021! If you would like to check out the rest of the playlist on Spotify, click here to be transported back there.

I didn’t mention this last month, but we went up north earlier this month and surprisingly, I don’t remember the music we had playing in the car. However, in my defense, we had the volume low for Nolan but nobody really wanted to listen to anything special–I figured we’d be listening to Demi Lovato’s new album as we drove up there and going back home, which was the reason why I was going to wait to hear it because my sister wanted to hear it too, but now it’s been a while and I’ve only heard one song. I am hoping that I will be checking it out soon though because I am almost done watching the new documentary on YouTube and I will probably be gravitating towards it afterwards!

February Playlist

Hello!

I’m sorry about last Friday, I tried my hardest to come up with a post but nothing would work so I thought it was a good idea to scrap it altogether and focus on this week’s content for you instead.

February was full of various music.

I am still surprised because usually it can be pretty boring but there were a lot of new albums and singles during the early parts of the month so that really helped start off the second month of 2021 off on the right foot.

Hard rock and heavy metal were the genres I was interested the most. Honestly I think I just craved anything that would stir me mentally and emotionally. I thought I would be depressed for the first two weeks because of Valentine’s Day; I wasn’t shockingly but I still wanted it like a security blanket. Thankfully, I was using all of my resources to keep those genres steady and in the end, I think I surprised myself on how my taste for heavy metal has improved even more and I was looking for the gruesome and unique music in a while.

Here are the Top 25 songs of the month. If you would like to check out the rest of the playlist, click here.

Trouble’s Coming by Royal Blood
Living The Dream by Five Finger Death Punch
Everything We Need by A Day To Remember
Mercy by Ayron Jones
You’re Going Down by Sick Puppies
This Is Gonna Hurt by Sixx:A.M.
I’d Rather See Your Heart Explode by Slaves
25 by The Pretty Reckless
Use My Voice by Evanescence
Last Resort (Reloaded) by Jeris Johnson x Papa Roach
Dark Love by Sullivan King featuring Aaron Gillespie
Monsters by All Time Low featuring blackbear & Demi Lovato
Talk To Me by Apocalyptica featuring Lzzy Hale
Love Bites (So Do I) by Halestorm
Love Is Madness by Thirty Seconds To Mars featuring Halsey
Finally Free by Stitched Up Heart
Yorktown by Butcher Babies
Crawl by Breaking Benjamin
Come For Me by New Years Day
Scarlet Cross by Black Veil Brides
Right Now by Fire From The Gods
In My Hands by Zero 9:35
Your Misery by Archetypes Collide
Just Like Me by Dragged Under
All My Life by Attack! Attack!

One thing that I am starting to notice and I’m really sorry I am just seeing it now, is that whenever I focus my attention on a specific genre like with this post, I automatically list a bunch of songs outside of that genre… I feel like I need to make a point of giving you a playlist written out like above of whatever I’d said in the beginning I have been into lately. Hopefully I will remember this when it comes time to do March’s playlist, however, knowing my luck I will probably be back to listening to various music like normally!

January Playlist

Hello!

Despite the fact January rarely releases bangers that will echo until the middle of the summer, I have found lots of interesting tunes! The day I don’t find anything that makes me happy, you should worry about me; just as a heads up, okay?

I am always pulled into this nostalgia vibe towards the end of December, and once January comes around, I am fully dedicated to keep it going until the early days of spring. I have never understood why I get like this, and it literally happens like clockwork so it doesn’t matter whatever genre I have been listening to the most, my brain will use it to make me want to go back to certain playlists or iPod, which has been REALLY a lifesaver lately! If you didn’t know, I haven’t updated my iPod in about three to four years, so I want to say the cut off year is possibly 2014. For my brain, this is the most recent but fits that box I need to be in during the colder months that I don’t really have a problem with it.

Here is the top songs for January. If you want to look into the rest of the Spotify playlist, click here.

Save Me From Myself by Vertical Horizon
Vita Nova by Halocene
Someone Like You by Adele

Numb by Nick Jonas featuring Angel Haze
Golden by Harry Styles
Therefore I Am by Billie Eilish
The Devil’s Own by Five Finger Death Punch

Before I go, I would love to know what you were listening to this month so here are some of my questions for you. Am I the only one who is basically forced into the memory dumb but weirdly enough, enjoy it just the same? If you are a Spotify user like me, what are your Top 5 playlists that Spotify created for you? If you don’t like Spotify, what other music streaming apps do you use instead? Does anybody out there still use their iPods?

Hope you have enjoyed this post and the questions too. I can’t wait to find out what I become obsessed with in February!

November Playlist

Hello!

I bet you didn’t expect me to be back so soon.

Today is the last day of November, for anyone participating in both NaNoWriMo and Nonfiction November, you should be proud of what you were able to accomplish in the last 30 days! I didn’t join NaNo this year because I’m not in that headspace to write anything for that long, and I doubt I have made any changes in reading the two books I got for this month. It happens… and I’m okay with it!

We are itching closer to Christmas and finally, to the new year: 2021. It seems so crazy how fast this year has went, despite the COVID mess that has taken over 2020! I bring this up because I have always felt November is a weird time for music. We are obsessed with Halloween-y songs and then we are quick to switch to Christmas carols at midnight.

I have to say, I have been doing very well at ignoring the festive commercials on TV and online, and I will be very happy when I can finally watch Christmas movies without being judged by my parents! I have a total of eight films in our DVR at the moment, so I can get my fill and enjoy everything that comes with this time of the year! As far as music goes though, I allow myself to listen to my favorite Christmas songs early, mainly because they tend to remind me of my papaw and so, it is just better for me to cave in now instead of feeling bad about it later.

This year, I am working on my “Ultimate Christmas” playlist on Spotify and will hopefully be speaking about it soon. I will hold off on that for a week or two, until I feel it is ready.

For my November playlist though, I have collected a lot of music that is selected in my “Discover Weekly” every Monday. I am always excited to see what type of music will be unleashed from the moment I hit play, and sometimes they create their own aesthetic but sometimes they reflect whatever genre I’ve focused on that past week and it is always a fun surprise at the start of another week.

Here are my Top 25 for the month!

Talk To Me by Apocalyptica featuring Lzzy Hale
Gravity by Sara Bareilles
Share That Love by Lukas Graham featuring G-Eazy
My Spring Your Fall by Falconsheild
Scars To Your Beautiful by Oceans featuring Anna Murphy
Goddess by Xana
Royals by Lorde
Remember by Leah

You’re Not From Here by Lara Fabian
Eugene by Arlo Parks
Cielo a un Diablo by Maluma
Teeth by Dirty D’Shire
Drew Barrymore by
Bryce Vine
Que Color by Major Lazer featuring J Balvin & El Alfa
Ordinary Day by The Animal In Me
The Purge by Within Temptation
Dream On Me (Stripped) by Ella Henderson

Peer Pressure by James Bay
Lullabies by Yuna
Grip by Seeb
If I Could Turn Back Time by Cher
Betty by Chase Holfelder
Numb by Carlie Hanson
Cold by Crossfade

What I truly love about this list, is its diversity! You have hard rock, pop, and reggaetĂłn like it is supposed to fit together. I continue to surprise myself on the amount of music I am willing to listen to everyday. The sad part about it is, there’s sadly not a lot of people like me, who are brave enough to be interested in shuffling their music out in the open and enjoy sharing in hopes we create even more fans for these artists and bands, new and old, and honestly the longer I go about this, I tend to enjoy it even more and I think that’s why I still want to do these playlists too.

Before I go, I wanted to let you know that I was able to post a new album review this month. Well, technically, it was an update to an older post I did in 2018, and I was recently told by the artist, that she really loved it, so that makes me really happy! Anyways, here it is, in case you haven’t seen it yet. Oh, and speaking of links, here is the Spotify playlist for November too! 🙂

Summer 2017 Playlist

summer

Howdy!

Today is finally the day we discuss the summer anthems of 2017!

Unlike last year when EDM basically ruled the charts from top to bottom, the list of summer anthems I thought for 2017 was fairly low! Even I was bummed because I love whenever the DJs release banging music during the summer months. Everybody is looking for a party so it’s a good time to release music in this genre. However, I don’t usually like when artists, especially pop singers release new albums from June to late August, because you can clearly tell that were only made for the summer. They have those like Caribbean and exotic music and it honestly gets annoying pretty quickly!

Here are some of the popular tracks I heard this summer!

Body Like A Back Road by Sam Hunt
Slow Hands by Naill Horan
Sign Of The Times by Harry Styles
Stay by Zedd featuring Alessia Cara
Weak by AJR
Sweat by All-American Rejects
Help by Papa Roach
Issues by Julia Michaels

Believer by Imagine Dragons
Now Or Never by Halsey
Galway Girl by Ed Shereen
Despectio by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber
Most Girls by Hailee Steinfeld
Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato
Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift
Something Just Like This by The Chainsmokers featuring Coldplay

I never create this playlists according to charts or anything like that, I just try to pay attention to what I hear on the radio or Spotify and make my selection from there! So we can agree to disagree on this batch of songs, if you have any others that you think did fairly well this summer you can also create a mini playlist in a comment  down below and we can talk about them! Otherwise, I hope you enjoy this mini playlist!
