Blogs That I Love #22

blogs

It’s the end of another week, which means there needs to be some joy in the blogger community! All three of these blog are from the US! I actually didn’t have this planned but thought I’d give some love to these three ladies because I met all three of them via USBloggerChat! And since I hosted last night’s chat I thought this would be a lovely surprise for them! After I listed one the others actually came to me a lot quicker than I thought they would!

  1. Courtney’s Little Things – Courtney is a newbie blogger but you wouldn’t really know that by reading her blog. Everything on her blog looks like she’s been doing it for years! That’s a skill that I didn’t even have when I first started. I found her during my first USBloggerChat that I hosted. I found quite a few girls that night but I’ve been watching her blog a lot more, not in a stalker way I promise! I love her though, she’s so nice and takes beautiful pictures!
  2. Hello Wrench – Miss Jenn! That’s what I tend to call her on Twitter which makes her sound older than she is so I might have to stop doing that. Jenn is another sweetheart, this girl hosts a lot of Twitter chats. Almost every Friday for bdibNA and then she hosts the last week of the month for USBloggerChat. I read her organizing post she did recently and how she writes out her themes and questions, which is really smart – in case she repeats a theme she can look back and see if she’s already talked about it. I might want to do that! I do love her blog, there are not a lot of blogger blogs that I can comment on a post with ease and hers is not on that list.
  3. Color U Bold -Jasmine. She’s such a sweetie and very inspiring too! She’s a beauty, fashion blogger, but her blog has a lot of advice/inspirational posts too. I think she’s so gorgeous, every OOTD post I see on Twitter or Facebook it’s like, I’m not that beautiful – even though I know better, I am beautiful. I just tend to forget about it after I read one of those posts.

Blogs That I Love #20

Look what’s back!!

The last time I did one of these posts was in March, that seems like a really long time ago actually! I really miss doing these posts but I’ll be honest when I made my Bloglovin account at the beginning of the year, I didn’t think I would basically follow every blog in sight. I still do Twitter blog sprees too so I’ve been seeing a lot more posts than I probably should and I think I got too overwhelmed picking and choosing blogs to share on this series.

  1. Sarah In Wonderland – This girl is such a sweetie, like seriously! I have really appericated her friendship in the last couple of months. It’s kind of weird but interesting that we even became friends in the first place. We join the SpoonieSpeak chats on Fridays, sometimes she even hosts them! She has quite a few invisible disabilities but somehow we instantly clicked. As much as I wish she slept better at night, I do like our chats. Late afternoons for me, but really late night for her! She of course, lives on the opposite side of the world. She mainly talks about health, beauty and lifestyle topics. I usually read her disability posts than her other posts, but she has an amazing blog overall!
  2. Cardigan Jezebel – Meggan is another sweetie and I am a bit envious of her because she lives in Ireland at the moment. So imagine all of the gorgeous fall pictures for a second! She is a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blogger. I really look forward to her blog posts, mainly the lifestyle posts, but I’m starting to like more of her fashion posts. Another feature she’s been talking about more is her obsession with hair dye. So far I haven’t guessed one damned color right!
  3. Heroine In Heels – Laura is one my favorite food/travel bloggers out there. If I could I would literally do a whole list of my favorite travel bloggers ever, you all would understand my wanderlust in a heartbeat! She talks about other topics too, like fashion and does reviews on restaurants, clubs, etc so if you read those posts before you’ve had anything to eat, you’ll be 10x more hungry than you first started out trust me!

My Small Jewelry Collection!

ript7gku7i2q1t2x1fisu5krumutp3uc

Howdy!

As somebody with a disability, my wheelchair(s) have always been MY accessory. My electric wheelchair being the bulkest, obnoxious one of all! I’ve always loved jewelry. When we were kids, my sister and cousin and I would be over at my nana’s late at night for a visit and she’d be looking through her jewelry box for a necklace or a pair of earrings. We would find these little gems as treasure because majority of them hadn’t been worn in a really long time, so they had dust or cracks on them. I think Blondie and Kristi tried on a lot of the jewelry back then, especially the earrings. I was the last one to get my ears pierced in 2010. It was a disaster but I did like wearing my little music notes and guitar earrings.

As I’ve explained in some of my posts before, having my condition Arthrogryposis my arms and legs are very skinny. The disease affects my joints, I have hardly any muscles in these areas. The only way I can describe how small they are is by comparing them to a toilet paper roll. I think my wrists are a little bit smaller. I can’t wear rings of course, because of the fact my fingers are so tiny, rings of any size just slip right off. So from a young age I’ve had a serious hatred for them. I can wear rings on my big toes, but I’ve never really cared for them. My art teacher back in Elementary got me one and she said something like “we match now” since I’ve always wanted to be like everybody else this was my alternative. I think I only worn it for less than a week before I gave it back to her. Rings are just not a favorite of mine.

I’ve always loved necklaces and bracelets though! The only problem with the longer chain of necklaces the actual charm or whatever is like covered up by my left hand. 90% of the time my mom has to put the charm on top of my hand so it’s visible. I either need to get a shorter chain or a really long one! I have one that is lost and it’s one I got at Spencer’s one time. It’s silver and has a gothic frame of a Victorian lady in black and it sooo screams me! It has a long chain and it’s pretty heavy, so it actually goes past my hand! Leave it to me to lose it! And then I have my two special necklaces. My mom and dad named me “Meghan” six letters and we hardly ever see anything like mugs, necklaces, etc with my spelling. So I’ve always had a “M” necklace. It works, I actually picked it out at Wal-Mart because I didn’t have one and then a few months later while my mom and dad went shopping they were in the jewelry section and she found MY NAME on a necklace and had to buy it. Unfortunately for both of them, I hardly ever wear them, mostly because of the hand thing.

As far as bracelets go, I love them!! I’m actually okay with the fact I can’t wear them on my wrists. I do actually have one bracelet that can fit on my tiny wrists. I got it for Christmas a couple of years ago from my friend Tabby from England. It is a friendship bracelet, it has this heart charm that has a key entrance in the middle and it is incredibly small but fits like a glove on my wrist! I almost cried when my mom put it on my arm for the first time, because it’s so difficult to find anything that’ll fit.  If I do wear it, I rather have it on my right hand because it’s much lower placed on my body. Tabby has the other one that has the key on it! My mom recently got these animal bracelets she found at CVS, she likes to wear different bracelets and has worn a few of mine before! I have like two, I have a purple/turtle and rainbow/elephants. There are supposed to mean something each one but I don’t have a clue what these two mean so I’m sorry! The first bracelet I ever bought myself was when Blondie was at school up north.  We went into this artisanal accessories store called CeCi’s by this lady, I found this orange bracelet that had spikes glued onto the string. It can be considered a cuff I guess. It fits on my legs like a glove and it’s honestly my favorite bracelet! I regret not getting the red one that day too!

I have a small batch of bracelets that I got in the span of two years I think. I got this pack of bracelets once in Spencer’s again. They came four in a pack, black and silver with different charms. I have one that says “Love,” a cross, skull, and the last one was a bunch of silver studs. All of them have a elastic band so they can stretch and slip onto my feet. My heels are VERY large so this is considered a brilliant invention! I have another bracelet that has skull and spike charms going through around it. It is black and a dark gold shade. It brings out my rocker side! However, not like my big one! I have another cuff I got from that place CeCi’s and it’s huge! It also has giant spikes on it too!! We have a saying in my family, that it can be considered a weapon!! I have to be extreme careful whenever my mom goes to lift me up so that I don’t stick her! This is definitely my favorite of the bunch!

I think that’s all of them!! Hopefully in my future OOTDs I’ll actually remember to wear some of them so you can get a glimpse of what I go through wearing each item I’ve described.

Nail Polish Haul!

11709527_10200547862377137_6018180927583758138_n

Last week, my parents and I went to Wal-Mart to get a few things, and I’m actually serious when i say “few things” too! The last time we went I hardly got anything for myself than besides gummi worms and two T-shirts, this time I went with full intentions on finding something that will keep me occupied during the days of the week at home.

I had it in my head that if I was REALLY desperate enough to just go ahead and buy paints (red, yellow, blue) and see what I can do with them. I’ve never been interested in painting! I hated doing it in school, even though I could hold a brush and do everything else, but there’s also cleaning off my feet and not getting paint everywhere! So instead, I got one of those fuzzy/velvet posters that you color in with markers and a deck of UNO cards. They say on the packaging of the poster that its “mistake proof” and I laugh everytime because its not true! If the velvet is very thin, it’s not going to help me from running off the design! I always lose whenever I play UNO. I finally talked my mom into playing me the other night and she thoroughly kicked my ass! I won two games, but she actually kept score – something that I didn’t know you had to do after finishing a round! We were only supposed to play til 200 points but we were tons of fun that she kept bumping up! We played for a whole hour and a half!

I’m not a huge girly-girl. I have my good days but it’s rare! I hate makeup on me, probably because I don’t exactly know what works for me and my skin tone. I also don’t like it because I can’t put it on myself, somebody else has to do for me and I just hate doing that! However, I can make an exception when it comes to nail polishes. I love doing other people’s nails! We went into the makeup/nail aisles of the entrance of the store. It was the last place we went into and I got six different colors of polishes! Whenever I have my mom or Blondie get me some nail polishes to store at nana’s house, they usually come back with glitter polishes! My nana and I actually despise the glitter polishes, mostly because they are a bitch of get off with the remover stuff! I find it hilarious that I bought six of them and yet I know I’ll only want my toe nails painted. I’m not much of my fingers painted like I used to, it’s difficult to get to them so I find it better just to do my toes instead!

11059693_10200547862337136_9121859506258204785_n

I decided to do a haul of them. I was feeling very spring/summer-y and bought a mixture of bold and pastel colors! I think my mom and I had a little bit too much going through the lit rows of colored polishes. The first two are from Sally Hansen! I actually surprised myself because I bought a light pink shade and if any of you know me really well, you know I hate the color pink with a passion, but this one looked so cute and innocent. It’s called “Hardcore Party.” The green is more like a lime green, this was my mom’s least favorite of the bunch! She literally said “ugh” when I told her it was pretty and it is! It reminds of early spring, before all of the rain comes in and evolution makes the shade of the leaves to go darker. This one is called, “Limestone” which seems to fit it perfectly!

The next set is from Xtreme! These two are my more bolder shades of the group, especially this yellow! I’m actually in love with it, because it’s not like a light yellow, it’s got more of a gold-ish tint to it. It’s still very much a bright yellow, but it’s a bit darker too! It is called, “Mellow Yellow” and the blue one was my last purchase! I have been on a blue kick since last summer! I haven’t been able to get a blue in any shade since I let my friend’s daughter Katie do my nails last July! The blue isn’t like a baby blue like maybe I would have liked it to be, but it’s not boring either! It looks like the color of the ocean which is ironic since my sister has spent most of her week in Hawaii on board a cruise! So this might remind her of the ocean when she gets back! This one is called “Big Teal” and I love the name of this one don’t ask me why!

Before I became a blogger, I never cared to read the brand and since reading this off, I’ve been trying to think if we’ve ever tried any of them! Sally Hansen, yes we have!! The last brand is called Pure Ice and I’ve never used this brand before! The first one is like a peachy color, very, very light. I’m thinking about pairing it up with the yellow or green polishes! The picture is making it look more like an orange, but it’s not I swear! The other is another blue-ish shade! This one looks more minty to me than the teal one. It’s very pretty! Unfortunately finding any information about what the colors are called, hell even finding them on the Wal-Mart website was a freaking bust! Sorry about that! I’m hoping that everybody loves the colors and hopefully in the next month or so I can get some more! While we were in the aisles, there were rows of polishes empty, so I’m hoping next time they’re fuller and we have another fun time selecting new colors! By the way, all of them were less than $2 each!

Blogs That I Love #17

blogs

I’ve finally made myself a damn Bloglovin account. It has been a frustrating time to keep with my ever-growing amount of blog links on both my blog roll and on my Twitter. I like to go on following sprees on Twitter for new blogs. My normal way was getting me by, but as I kept “favoriting” different posts and links on Twitter to make sure to visit their sites, I would always be late with RTing the link! I’ve heard a lot of different things about Bloglovin, mostly good. Everybody said that it was easier to deal with as you can follow as many blogs as you want as long as they’re on the site itself. I’ve had it for two weeks. It is a lot easier to work, once you figure things out. I’ve found a lot more blogs and busy reading my favorite blogs too. This is a list of blogs I’ve been able to read with some ease now. If you’re not following these blogs I suggest you do so! A little bit of a warning, when you make a Bloglovin account, that “saving” button becomes your best friend.

  • Zoe London – I put Zoe first because I think she is an awesome woman! I’ve been following her on Twitter for a while, but only been reading her blog posts and watching her vlogs for like two months. She’s a London-based blogger, that talks about fashion, beauty, lifestyle, etc. I consider this pretty blue/lime haired lady one of the bigger bloggers. I try not to rate bloggers but if content is out of this world than sometimes it kind of happens on accident. I love how she’s very honest with her posts and she has an amazing fashion sense too!
  • Hello Miss Jordan – I found Miss Jordan during a blog chat, I had posted a Disney tag and she was one of two Disney addicts I found that day. She is another  UK and likes to talk about beauty, lifestyle, food, travel and anything Disney on her blog. I think the first post of hers I read was food related, her pictures were insane! My stomach didn’t want to stop growling even after I stopped reading! She also hosts a blogger chat on Twitter. It’s called #crazybloggers and it starts at 7pm GMT (2pm EST) and it’s blog chat that I love to be apart of because we’re allowed to be as free with our thoughts as we want, just no drama!
  • Jasmine Catches Butterflies – Jadirah is a beauty, fashion and lifestyle blogger all the way from Pakistan. I just absolutely adore her! She is so sweet and a hardcore Backstreet Boys fan. We literally spent a whole blog chat talking about BSB, is that bad? I am happy that I made a Bloglovin account, so I can keep up with her posts more than I’ve been! She recently nominated me for the One Lovely Blog Award, but I’ve already been nominated for it. I felt very blessed that she had done that and it starts out my new year on a high note! To repay her I thought I’d include her in this post!
  • See Me No CP – Michelle is a new blogger to the scene, but she’s rising high and fast! In school you kind of have different cliques that you always hung out in from day in to day out. Well, luckily for me I was never in just one group. I was in so many that I lost count after I finished my last year. I had so many because I could mesh with different types of people, but it was so difficult to get me to be more involved in the disabled community. Out of the three boys, I was the only girl. So I learned early on to be my own person but still think of the four of us as a whole. Anyways, I never had a girlfriend that was in a wheelchair like me. In recent years, I’ve been trying to create friendships with women and girls with disabilities. That’s why I absolutely LOVE talking to both Michelle and Sara from Bloo ‘n’ Stuff. However, back to the blogging part of this whole post. Michelle is a lifestyle blogger. She wants to create a more aware environment to her readers. She’s another blogger that has nominated me for The Versatile Blogger award and like above, I’m not doing it but I thought I’d return the favor like this.
