NOTM: Blue & Purple

Howdy folks!

If you guys know me, you know I don’t like to post on the weekends, but I am really running out of room because I’ve got so much coming for you guys!

If you notice last month, I didn’t publish a new Nails Of The Month post. I really need to give my toes a break at least once a month or something like that. The nails would be like a greenish hue whenever we would remove the polish. I was actually going to wait even further in the month whenever my Aunt Laurie came down so she could do my fingers too, but my luck and I’d change my mind so I don’t know now!

“Big Teal” by Sally Hansen!

I’m pretty sure I’ve worn this color before for a NOTM before! I just can’t say which other color I paired it up with though!

When my nana and I got the feeling to do this, it was the day before Arthrogryposis Awareness Day and so I had have a blue shade and she had quite a few different ones to choose from but I went with this one as it looks simple… Not too dark or light. Since it was like this, it only required one coat! Actually both polishes only needed one or two wipes across the nails!

“Purple Potion” by Sally Hansen!

Yes, I picked this one out because of its clever name! I’ve been in an autumnal feel for the past few days so the fact that it sounded a little Halloweenie made me very happy! It’s a nice dark purple, which is my favorite! I love when it has hints of black in it!

I decided to do something different than what I usually go for, instead of doing mismatch I went for the four toes are a color and one toe is another! I think it’s a stylish, but feminine nail look. I tried to talk my nana into doing hers like that, but she thought she was too old to do it! I think it’s a beautiful addition to the blue explosion!

So what do you think of my nails? Yay or nay?

DIY: Painting A Mason Jar!

Howdy folks!

So today I’m here with the second post about the mason jars that my nana and I previous used for the cake in the mugs last week! I separated them so it didn’t look too chaotic in the week!

We somehow did this backwards, I think our original plan was to decorate the jars first so they would look cute with the mixture inside, but like always we didn’t do it that way!

I don’t know what exactly to explain first because my nana and I have never painted a mason jar before so this was a new one to us! She also had quite a few different paints too! She had oil paints, glittery paints in bottles that you can squeeze and regular watercolors. I originally wanted to use the oil paints but when she explained that you couldn’t use water with it, I kind of backed out of it. I figured I would make a mistake on mine and wouldn’t have a way to fix it so I used the watercolors instead, not knowing if they’ll work any better!

Let me say this was the first time in a very long time where I enjoyed painting. I hated whenever we had to paint in art at school, absolutely dreaded it! Drawing was my forte. My nana had a lot of paints for two reasons: we like to do different crafts but she also had us do little crafts as kids too! I don’t remember if I hated painting as much as I did at school, probably, but not as much as baking a cake! I forgot to mention that in last week’s post! I only remember baking a pineapple upside down cake with my sister and hated it because of how much I couldn’t do. I think I’ve redeemed myself since then and that’s why I was okay with trying painting again.

In ways, I felt I was back in art class where it was quiet and I was very quiet, concentrating on covering every surface of the jar in blue and green.

I used a fold up chair that my nana tends to keep in the kitchen. It’s at a height that I can reach while sitting in my push wheelchair. We also decided to leave the paints and dish of water on the floor because there was not a lot of room with both the aluminium foil and the jar sitting above it. I started to use a skinny brush at first for the blue because I figured if it didn’t work she wouldn’t have to clean a bigger brush instead and not saying a BIG brush either. It’s small but the actual bristles space is larger so you can have more paint on it and cover more area. Of course, it wasn’t until I was almost finished with it that I started to use it! You need more water in the paint so it will show up as you paint it on the sides of the jar. The darker colors show up better, I didn’t necessarily try out the orange, yellow and pink but I honestly don’t think you’ll be a good enough shade to appear on it. I’ll try it out and see how it does next time!

She used the glittery paints as I mentioned in the beginning as she has a better time (or usually) squeezing the paint out than I do. We used these for our pumpkins a couple of years ago, it usually turns out pretty well! She mostly went around the design of the actual jars. She used both gold and silver paints. I like these a little more than her purple one that she mainly used regular Elmer’s glue and purple glitter that you sprinkle out of a little cup. Afterwards she had glow-y legs and socks! I’d say leave them out for an hour with a napkin underneath it in case any paint dribbles down to the bottom, I left mine on her counter overnight. When we do another cake mix, I’ll take home that decorated jar that I sort of have called “the ombre jar” because the colors just intertwine with each other!

Have you ever painted a mason jar before? If so, what did you use?

NOTM: Cotton Candy!

Hey guys!

A few days ago, my nana and I had a whole day to ourselves! Which was very weird for us since papaw has passed and she’s been dealing with other things, plus my mom has been working a lot lately too. Everytime that I went over with her, we didn’t have time for us to talk and do our normal things without having other people around us.

Before we left to go over, my mom had to cut my finger nails. As I’ve said in the past, I’m scared of the clippers like crazy! My nails grow so fast that I feel like we have to do them every other week. This time we did it in front of my dad in the living room and somehow my anxiety wasn’t so bad. I still had to breathe slowly but I hardly pulled away from her so that’s a plus! My toes need it too, but I decided to get them painted before the horror of the clippers comes near me again!

For last month, I started this bright look for my nails and I must be liking it because I chose two more colors that represent spring for me!

“Big Teal” by Xtreme Sally Hansen!

I went for the 360 Big Teal for my bolder color this time around. I wanted this last month for my fingers and I actually took it home with me so I could possibly get my mom or dad to paint them for me, but I kept forgetting about it and for my fingernails, I have to be in a mood to have them done.

I really like this color, it reminds me of the sky and the ocean a lot so it makes me happy! One of the good things about this is the fact the polish is so thick that we only need one coat for both feet!

“Hardcore Party” by Sally Hansen

Yes, I actually went with a pink! A very light pink I might add! It’s called 160 Hardcore Party! It’s a good thing I like this shade of pink because I think this is what color my maid of honor dress for my sister’s wedding next year is going to be!

Of course, this was the most difficult color I decided to put on which sucked! Since it’s so light it required more coats, for like two toes I have like four or five coats on them because either nana missed a section and later I start talking with my feet I accidentally hit the side of her hand. Not even two minutes later I tried to move the bench back underneath the kitchen table and manage to chip a nice little part of my big toe right off! Thank god it looks pretty or I would have told her to remove it and add the blue on those toes instead!

So what do you think of cotton candy toes? Yay or nay? What do you have on your nails?

Spring Nail Polishes

Hey guys!

Well today I’m going to be talking about something that I love! I technically love a lot of things but this is in my top 5 favorite things ever! It’s really hard to get a spot in the top five or ten!

I love nail polishes! It’s strange that my nana no longer likes doing her nails, but she has a large collection of different brands and colors! I went through her zip block baggies and cardboard box full of polishes. I threw away the ones that were absolutely disgusting! I only wanted to take pictures of spring, light colored polishes and I ended up cleaning half of her cabinet for her! It’s all good though because that whole section needed it!

If you read my new post of the polishes I used on my toenails. You probably know I’ve been into pastel-y shades all of a sudden! I still hate any shade of pink, but I’ve been thinking of creating this post for a while. I was surprised she even had lighter colors in her cabinet because every one I pulled out of there were dark or full of glitter! I took pictures of eight polishes I thought would be good for the springtime! So I hope you enjoy this post!

My nana and I really love Sally Hansen nail polishes for two reasons: great colors and really cheap! Nobody wants to spend more than $4 of nail polishes and if you are willing to spend more on a little bottle of nail polish you’re nuts! I like being able to spend $2 on both Sally Hansen and Pure Ice polishes than others!

The polishes above are definitely bolder and scream spring to me! From left to right: the colors are called: 325 Big Teal, 360 Mellow Yellow, 620 Limestone, and 160 Hardcore Party. I think these four polishes above are the prettiest! Even the blush shade in the right corner! If I was REALLY brave I would have used that on my nails. Actually I have before, but if you want it to be noticeable, you have to put like four coats down but then it takes you forever to remove it afterwards! What I thought was interesting though was the fact she had three different variations of Sally Hansen. She had the Hard As Nails, Xtreme, and Insta-Dry! I don’t think it was intentional, I know I just focus on the color whenever I find them in the store. I don’t pay that much attention to the brand or price.

I apologize for the last two, I didn’t shake them up very good! I probably should have thrown away the purple now that I can see how disgusting it looks!

I thought these colors were good if you wanted to have a spring-y color that wasn’t too obnoxious! I feel like I should have also switched the purple and pink out because I feel that the purple is a really bold color now and the pink fits this lineup. I don’t know if the nude shade would go into the whole spring theme I’m going for, but I thought if you want to do polka dots, maybe use it as the base and other colors, maybe the blue polish as the design of whatever you’re feeling at the time! The names for this Peach, 201 Fashion Safari, Dollface, and 420 Lively Lilac.

What are some of your favorite seasonal nail polishes?

WEEK SIX | #PADCardiganJezebel

It’s another week of March!

My memory is starting to fade on me lately! Something that I’ve been trouble doing while contributing every day to the challenge is there is like a 50/50 chance I’m not going to remember what the next day’s theme. The day before I started this past week I only knew Monday’s because I had technically done it two days earlier just in case! However, I didn’t know the next six days’ topics! So in a very interesting way, doing these summary posts are a godsend because it makes me remember them!

So they’re not just fun for you guys, but they’re helping me an awful lot! Now that I got that off my chest, let’s get on with the pictures!

DAY 7: 11 AM!

I took this picture on the Saturday before this picture was even due for one specific reason only. I would probably forget about it or sleep in, actually that’s what happened on Monday! I slept in and missed the time! So now I am really glad I took it then and I’m also very happy for the zoom button, flash, and for my camera to focus right for this picture!!

DAY 8: Stripes!

I think socks with stripes is very popular in my house than any other design! I have so many but grabbed the two closes to me and of course they were both dirty as crap! Sorry about that!

DAY 9: Something New!

I was at my nana’s a lot this week for personal things going on in my family at the moment. I’ll try to explain it all later this week!

My nana sends money to a school out West, for Native American kids and they send her different things! Back in December I explained that the advent calendar came from them which I love doing them! She got a lot of stuff: handmade cards, stickers, calendars, and this mini dreamcatcher and pen. This was the only picture that turned out pretty decent as to the other 20+ I took afterwards!

DAY 10: Smile!

So my nana and I are doing something cool! I am a Shriner’s baby and went there to get checked up about my condition, feet, and most importantly my back! I spent a good four months there recovering from my surgeries and having a blast really! Anyways, there are two ways to help support them. You can send toys or blankets. They are creating a giant quilt and we did a little design on ours! I drew a smiley face sun and added ours names underneath! We were going to put “you are my sunshine” but I knew it wouldn’t fit. I’m still surprised I wrote our names small enough that they were still readable!

Getting this picture to not end up blurry was not going to happen! I literally took over 15 pictures of it in a span of two days and this was taken during the second day and I’m pretty sure I know why it never wanted to work for me. It was either bad lighting or I need a lesson in figuring out how to stop shaking my feet mid-air!

DAY 11: Spring!

Th weekend before, it was absolutely gorgeous out and I got to spend quite a bit of time outside with the babies! This is Bear-Bear, I thought he looked all cute laying out on the ground instead of on the porch with the rest of us. (…don’t blame him one bit!)

DAY 12: Shhh!

Okay, a few weeks ago I went to the dentist and I was really tired! Between little sleep that night, getting up at the butt crack of dawn, and then taking medicine to help calm my nerves, this was the end result! I decided to take a little nap in between breaks of my doctor working on me! Another reason why I like this picture is because I was having a great hair day!

DAY 13: On The Go!

Okay, you’re probably wondering why I included this picture. All I’m going to say is “find the airplane!” I’m seriously surprised I got it! I thought it wouldn’t show up or the photo would be too blurry but nope! You can’t see the plane but you can see it’s line of steam, well barely!

NOTM: Greenge

Hey guys!

Technically, I got my nails done on the nineteenth of February, but I’m pretty sure both colors will hold up nicely for the whole month of March! If not, then you’re get another post with this same kind of intro for April’s nails!

Since I went with the dark concept for January with the royal blue and emerald for my toes, I wanted to go lighter this time around. I just need something kind of bright but not as obnoxious! My nana has a big collection of different nail polishes stored in her kitchen. She has tons of nude, pinks, and glitter polishes, but I don’t really use them as much!

“Peach” by Pure Ice:

I’m pretty sure I’ve purchased both polishes; both came from the same haul! What’s really weird is that the pink polish I was going to use came from the haul too! Sometimes they get back in the cabinet and are lost for a bit!

This one jumped out at me first, which was strange because like I said, I’m not really into lighter colors but some days I just need something happy and this one did just that for me! Unfortunately, there’s no name for this color so I’m going by what I described it on my previous post. This is my second time using a Pure Ice nail polish, they’re pretty good as far as quality! You don’t need a lot of coats to get the shade of inside the bottle, but if you don’t have a clear finish polish, then it’s best to do two coats just in case! That’s what we had to do as after I got to doing things for my nana, we had to add another coat because of it had started coming off already!

“Limestone” by Sally Hansen:

I’ve used this green before and for me, it just symbolizes “spring” for me! And for a lot of people that’s what March represents, the coming of spring! Considering I went from an emerald color for January, I didn’t think I’d choose another shade of green for the next month(s) but okay!

For a lot of people, they might agree I don’t wear a lot of colorful outfits and that’s just my style! I feel whenever I do my nails though, I’m very colorful! I have my days where I need those darker colors to really set the gloomy mood I might be feeling. I might not be complaining much about all the snow and ice, but it doesn’t mean I’m not tired of it and need more warmer days full of green trees, flowers, and stupid bugs! I honestly miss going out and taking pictures of our cats on the porch. Those three days in the middle of January wasn’t enough for me!

My papaw is responsible for naming this post! After I showed him my nails, this is what came flying out of his mouth! I had some fun trying to do these pictures for this post! I used everything we needed to do this! Cotton balls, tissues, and Q-Tips!

What do you think of my nails, yay or nay? What kind of polish do you have on right now?

WEEK FIVE | #PADCardiaganJezebel

We’ve started another month and Meggan is continuing with her photo challenge! I’ve known about it for almost two weeks, but I wanted to keep it a secret from anyone who only follows my blog posts! If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably seen me talk about how excited I’ve been to have a new set of challenges for March!

I should probably explain why the title of this post is different from the picture I’ve included above! First of all, since I started this in February, it was week one and that’s what I titled this whole thing by how many weeks I’ve done. So the month might start over again, the posts can’t because I’ve already used that title. I’m sorry for the confusion!

DAY 1: Currently…

I’m actually starting on my summer posts. Well, it’s my Tune Tuesday summer series I’ve been doing for the past three years now! Every summer I do a worldwide “travel” posts for each week. This year, I’ve taken off China, South Korea and Egypt and added quite a few others I’ve talked about in the first year like Japan, India, and Italy! Two of my “new” travels are Puerto Rico and Romania! As you can tell, the whole thing starts up May 3rd!

DAY 2: Fresh!

I like the fact that these challenges allow me to think out of the box; make me use different items than the normal go-tos. As for the “fresh” challenge, nothing wanted to work and I ultimately gave into my first idea and used the dryer sheets. I honestly don’t know what these are, I just know the little cuddly bear!!

DAY 3: Hello!

Okay, this picture might look a little cruel but you can’t deny it’s cuteness either!!

This is what happened to our screen door. Technically, this is door #2. Every cat that has ever been adopted by my sister (us!) has literally tore it up! My dad has had to fix it countless times! The reason why we’ve had to have them replaced so much is because of this. Our cats try to figure out a way into the house and they will do anything to get inside! That’s Grumpy peeking at the bottom, he’s the main cat that does it the most!

Now they’re finding ways to get into other places including sheds and cars! Bear Bear was missing for three days, guess where he was? In my dad’s building because apparently nobody does roll call before locking anything!

DAY 4: B Is For…

B is for basketball. I mean, it is March Madness after all! This is my papaw’s little basketball poster that has IU’s game schedule, which in ways it’s traditional to have in every family kitchen, but a waste when they don’t include channel numbers at the bottom for everybody’s TVs!

DAY 5: In My Bag!

As you can see, I didn’t take this picture! My nana did so I could keep my camera into my purse/bag.

I have camera, phone, pen, and two pieces of paper full of blog related stuff! This is technically the best What’s In My Bag post you’ll ever get out of me because I am totally lame! I don’t have a lot that I need to pack around. If I need my laptop for the night I put it in my Vampire Diaries but that’s it.

DAY 6: Indulge!

I needed something that would be good for this challenge and thank god I still had this picture in my “media” area because I was going to include it into a blog post for next week, but it technically doesn’t fit anywhere so I removed it. I feel for this little picture though! This is the reason why I take three shots of something because the first two were blurry as crap and I couldn’t tell until I went and uploaded my pictures!
