What Defines A Song As Sexy?

Can you name one or more song(s) that is sexy? I’m serious.

I don’t think many listeners of different genres can choose just one song. It’s kind of like picking out your favorite song of all-time. You can’t just pick one song and that’s it. You usually get asked a hundred times and you ask if you could have three or five more choices just so you don’t feel bad for not choosing the other song in the back of your mind. It is hard to pick a sexy song because nobody really listens to songs to find it to be in that way honestly, but somehow I have found a good amount in the last two years. Surprisingly, they’re not all rock and metal songs even though that’s how it all got started. A lot of people hate the crap out of Canadian rock band Nickelback and I’ve never understood why, because I feel like they’re what everybody is asking from their other favorite bands. To me, Nickelback is an awesome band but they mean a little more to me than they probably should. I find their sexual based songs extremely sexy. I know. I hated all of these different hip hop sexual songs but I’m okay with the rock and roll ones. I’ll explain why I’m more accepting on the rock part than the hip hop.

When I got into rock and metal, I knew there wasn’t that big of a difference as far as topics go. I felt that both sides have had problems with degrading women in their lyrics. When I got out of rap music and went into dubstep, I started paying more attention to how the sound of the song went instead of the words, because at that time majority of the dubstep songs being released on the radio had no words to go along with the actual song. So when I made the transition again into rock and metal, I wasn’t paying attention to how the band looked and what they were saying in their songs. It all started to make me feel better and comfortable that I could listen to different bands who might’ve had masks, makeup, etc I wasn’t paying attention about what they were saying either, that’s how I came to love more and more screamo bands because you can barely understand them anyways. Once I was over that hurdle I grew to appreciate the sound, I learned how to block certain parts while I was listening. After that it was like I was going backwards, I liked the sound, read the lyrics and found the meanings, but the stuff that I normally hated wasn’t issue anymore because I had found a way to get over it.

Now that I’ve explained that, I can get back to my original post. Nickelback and another band called My Darkest Days and country male singer Brantley Gilbert have the power to make me feel very beautiful in my own skin. It’s not their voices that do the trick for me, it’s the sounds of their songs. A certain song can bring back tons of memories – both good and bad, but a sexy song can make you love yourself and you start to turn into another person as they say. Songs can be sexy, even in the sweetest and slowest melody, it can be the sexiest thing in the world. Since I’ve learned to block out different parts of songs I have realized that I have a lot of songs that I think are sexy.

I actually decided to put the question up top on both my Facebook and Twitter profiles, because I wanted to see everybody else’s choices. My first reply was from Bloo ‘n’ Stuff she gave me the song “Sea Of Love” by Tom Watts. I actually listened to it and since I love bluesy and raspy voices, I kind of figured I’d like it and I did. I could see how she could think of it as a sexy song. After sharing one of mine, she gave me two others that would included in her list, “Transit Gloria” by Brand New and “Lover I Don’t Want To Love” by Bright Eyes. I found the song by Bright Eyes VERY sexy! I got two other suggestions from my Twitter from two other people. I got “Love Sex Magic” by Justin Timberlake from A South Wales Blog and I do have to say that JT has a LOT of sexy songs but I can’t say that I’ve listened to this song enough to find anything sexy about it, but I love the choice! My last was from Tiffy and she gave me was “Sure Thing” by Miguel and this is definitely a sexy song as far as both his voice and sound of it goes. My Facebook has (so far) three replies and I actually got a guy friend of mine to give me his pick. The songs that were given to me were “Kiss Me” by Ed Sheeran, “Body Party” by Somo, and “I Want You” by Kings Of Leon. First of all, most of Ed Sheeran’s stuff is very sexy! I couldn’t find the “Body Party” on my Spotify. The Kings of Leon song kind of took me by surprise as I thought it would be more slower almost like a quiet ballad, but nevertheless that was his choice! My sister had given me the song by The Weekend, called “Wicked Games” and she got what I was asking to a T, the beat is extremely sexy. Now that I’ve finished going through everybody else’s choices I thought I’d list mine. Some songs are sexy throughout, but there are a few were it’s just sections or intros that are sexy to me.

Rock Show At Plummer River Rally

“Little girl, there you are.
All the lighters looking just like stars.
Sing along, feel the sound.
Take a ride on the hands of the crowd.
Here it comes, the moment when you know you’ll never be the same again.
Power chord, see the light.
You found your place in the world tonight.

At the rock show.
You’ll be right in the front row.
Heart and soul, they both know.
It’s where we gotta be.
Yeah, at the rock show.
Getting high on the solo.
So what if it’s crazy.
That’s gonna be me.” – Halestorm

If you heard my first post and found out that I totally skipped out on talking about the awesome concerts at the rally, I didn’t. I wanted to do something separate because for both nights I kept having one song playing through my head because well, it was fitting to how everything was working out for us as far as getting a good seat to watch everything happen on stage. Friday’s festivities included watching a band called 100 Proof, that played from 6:30 to 8pm. We got to their set late because I was still enjoying it though because it was good music, even though I was having trouble getting my eyes away from the awesome looking guitars. I have a weakness for guitars and I didn’t know I did until I started watching them. When we got up there, my friend Sammy asked me if I wanted to go up by the stage, I didn’t hesitate I nodded my head “yes” and she guided up there to the stage and I began to feel at one with the music. It was weird to be that close and feel your chest like it’s about to cave in and my wheelchair was slightly moving with strum of the guitars and bump of the drums. It was heaven.

Sammy stayed on my left, her boyfriend stayed behind her, my mom was behind me, and Mama was on my right side. I had my own little security guards around and trust me, I began to be thankful of this act of kindness later on in the night. I’ll explain that later. There was this nice lady that I think her name was Missy that was so sweet to me that she actually talked to me and my mom and asked questions about my disability. Surprisingly, not a lot of people really asked questions about my arms and/or feet, not to me at least. After the band finished the singer was out throwing beads to the women in the crowd. This lady Missy got the singer to not only throw the beads in his hands to her but also managed to talk him into getting a picture with me too. When he got off stage, he took a picture with me and even gave me a guitar pick and when my mom put the pick in between my toes he looked at me and said I should learn how to play guitar with it. After he left, my mom tried to take the pick and put it on my pinky finger because it had a small hole in the middle of it but it was too small for my finger. Which was interesting because it’s usually the opposite.

At 8pm, we had ourselves a good ole time. Mama and Sammy were talking about when we were discussing about the bands that were performing that night, that we should check out Bag Lady Sue. My mom and I thought it was a band and then I thought it was a weird name, but then after the first concert was over with, it was time for Bag Lady Sue and oh my god! I don’t know I’ve ever been so happy that both of my folks were behind me and not in front of me or besides me because her act was very prerogative, but nevertheless absolutely hilarious. I told my friend Sammy that it was just a little bit weird for me because I was understanding a lot of the stuff she was saying and in the back of my head, I was thinking I wonder what my dad thinks of me hearing all of this. Like Mama said, it ain’t like I’ve never heard of any of the stuff she was saying. I had the sex talk a few years ago and I definitely know more back then especially when she starting talking about bondage and stuff, it was like a mixture of embarrassment and my stomach hurt from laughing so much. The act was just different, especially since she started off in this old women get up first, kept getting drunk with the crowd as they were giving her all kinds of alcohol and then slowly undressed in front of us. She was amazingly sweet and totally somebody that I would go see about a hundred times. On Saturday, she came back and did her act again and I got to meet her. She signed she asked me how I spelled my name and signed a picture and T-shirt for me. She immediately leaned down and gave me a hug and when she found out I did things with my feet, she kissed my left foot three times and then signed it. That has never happened before in my life!

This nice couple a few tents/campers over from us and one of the first people we met on that first day, made these awesome balloon hats. It was a little weird because Sammy came up to us while we were in line to meet for Bag Lady Sue and I heard something about somebody wanting to borrow me. As soon as we got done with meeting her, this sweet couple Larry and Barb came up to us and put this very large but awesome balloon hat that I actually like, I wouldn’t be surprised if it freaked the shit out of me in the next few nights, but that’s okay! I’d share the one with Barb and I but I don’t know how she’d feel about being on my blog at the moment. If I hear anything, I’ll post it later in the week as an extra picture. After this I ended up going back up to camp and one of our other neighbors talked to my parents and somehow gave me one of his necklaces. Mama and Sammy actually brought a baggie of their beads that they’ve gotten from other rallies and they reuse them (which is smart) and let me wear two of the purple ones and a red one too. I ended up getting another blue necklaces during the concert Saturday night from another woman in the crowd. I’ve just got to say I’m pretty happy I had all these beads and I didn’t even have to take off my shirt to get them.

Around 10:30, as the last second to last band of Friday night was finishing, the air started to get very cool. We knew that we had a chance of rain/storms after midnight. Mama ended up having to tell me that we needed to go back up to the camp as we were set up on a hill and the grasses gets very slick when its wet. Of course, I didn’t want to go but before we left I kept thinking in my head of being optimistic and picking my battles so I went back up to the canopy. We stayed up there for several minutes, put on sweatshirts and jackets on before my mom decided that we were going to go back down there as the rain was skipping us. We got down there in the middle of sexy body contest, it was the guys turn. It was down to last three guys and I was just feeling a bit uncomfortable but yet so glad that it was my mom that went down there to the stage with me and not my dad. We had another band come up, I don’t remember what they were called but I could not take my eyes off their guitarist. Dear lord, he was SEXY! Everybody thought the singer was hot, and here I was about to go insane over this dude. Too bad we couldn’t get a good enough picture of him while we were at it.

After it was over, it was time for the ONE Metallica tribute band to start. I, of course didn’t know what to expect but I was hoping my neck was going to be on my good side as it was already hurting after the first two bands of the night. I’m also not that big of a Metallica fan either. My mom and dad have tried, hell even I’ve tried to listen to them. I think the songs I did enjoy hearing were “Fade To Black,”  “Master Of Puppets,” The Memory Remains,” and of course “Enter Sandman.” Nothing could really be out of ordinary until they came out and I thought I was going to melt into a puddle right there. The bassist did the growls and I was hooked instantly, even if I didn’t know the words of the songs I still enjoyed it. My neck got on my nerves but thank god for headrests. I kept having to lean back into it but then I started to wonder if the headrest was the reason why it was hurting in the first place. Anyways, these guys were genuinely sweet guys. The stage was pretty large, it had a half round part to it where the three of them could get up close with us and this proved to be a good thing for me as the lead singer Shane came around and did his solos over by me FOUR times. They hadn’t been on stage for probably 15 minutes and when they got into the third song, I had my little pack of people around me again and the lead singer sat on the edge of the stage so I could watch him do the solo and then gave me a guitar pick that he used during the solo. They all stood above me at one point of their performance and then some towards the middle of it the drummer gave me his drum and then some crazy dude decided he wanted to go crowd surfing right by us and I didn’t even know what was going on at first all I saw was a bunch of hands over my head and Sammy completely my view of the right side. I didn’t freak out or anything but I was for sure the dude was going to fall backwards but he didn’t. Thank god they tossed him to the other side.

On Saturday night, we heard another band before the main band of the night and why the park drastically got bigger from the day before Warrant came on. They actually did two songs that I knew and the weird part it took me a bit to figure out what song they were doing and then it dawned me and I could not control myself, my poor mom was thankfully behind me only because there was a topless woman besides me on the left side. Both women were extremely nice despite that and surprisingly I was actually comfortable sitting right beside her until she kept drinking more and more, then she turned into a huge pain the ass and her boyfriend or husband wasn’t helping out at all. Anyways, the song that they played I knew was My Darkest Days’ “Porn Star Dancing” and there was a dude with some gnarly sideburns or a beard, who knows what the hell it was. He did Ludacris rapping. I was utterly impressed and then they did “Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy” a couple of songs afterwards and sadly I only knew the chorus to it. After they left we had another sexy body contest and it was the boys turn again, this time we got to see the whole thing and it was much more enjoyable this time because I knew what was going to happen but I did not think it would happen right front of me and the poor dude fell right in between the space between the stage and the wooden part were the security and photographers walked around, he was again he got up again and was still crazy as ever. Unfortunately he didn’t win and I thought that was bullshit because we were loud as crap for him too. At 11pm, and some technical difficulties with the mics, Warrant came out and I was less than pleased. So was my mom, the singer was good and they sounded good but they weren’t very open with the crowd I thought. I only knew the last song they played and it was “Cheery Pie” and I did enjoy hearing that, but other than that it wasn’t all that good, plus it was a short set too. They started at 11pm and ended at midnight. What the hell? So that was my first little concert review for you.

Book Review: Hot Ticket by Olivia Cunning

Book: Hot Ticket by Olivia Cunning

Genre: Contemporary/Erotica/BDSM

I have been trying to finish up this book for quite some time. I got back in late December or early January, I honestly don’t remember but I know it was around there because when I had made my “Books To Read 2014” list at the beginning of the year this was at the top of the list. Sadly, I haven’t made a dent in that list and I continued to look for more books. I have been reading less this year and I don’t know why because in a way this book was really good! I think as I got towards 30% I started to realize that I had been reading the series out of order, but in a way I haven’t. You see I’m reading them as the author released them and not in their specific order they are supposed to be in. I read the first book Backstage Pass in 2011. I read the second book and I’m pretty sure it’s the next one in order, Rock Hard but after that one I think I got messed up. Back in 2012, I got Double Time and it was the third book in the series to be released but yet it’s the last book of the series. So you can say it, I know what happens at the end of the series. What’s weird is that I know this but I’m still wanting to read these last books.

After I finished Double Time I was still in love Trey Mills. I mean, how can you not be in love with a guitar player? I never did a book review of his story or Sed Lionheart’s either (Rock Hard) so this is my first book review of the series since 2011. When I first BP I got the memo that Jace Seymour was very much in the background because he was still fairly new in the band, Sinners. Jace is the band’s new bassist after replacing their original member Jon Mallory. He gets teased by the band and their drummer has the most fun, Eric Sticks. In this book though, Hot Ticket it is all about Jace and how he came to be so quiet and confused about his life. He had experience a great deal of tragedy over his parents, his ex-girlfriend Kara Sinclair (if you have read the first book then you know this is Master Sinclair’s little sister) and has one hell of a fetish. He likes pain. Jace thinks that he should experience any kind of pain, however leaning towards the physical side of pain. That’s when he meets Aggie, or should we say Mistress V. Now Aggie makes her appearance in RH as a friend of Jessica Chase, so you what she does and a very small dose of who she is as a person.

Aggie has experience almost the same amount of tragedy as Jace, but nothing as extreme. In this book, we see Aggie go through life at the club dancing for men trying to pick up “victims” for the other part of her life that’s very dear to her heart. Mistress V is a dominatrix. Yup, you read that twice! There are a lot of books out there of the males point of view as the dom but never the women. Aggie spots Jace at the club were she works and can’t quite stop herself from looking at his body and gorgeous smile. When she whips out her leather whip onto him, she knows that he would be fun to tame. However, in the next coming chapters after that she realizes that’s a bit harder than it looks. Aggie and Jace have one hell of a love affair going on in the book, they learn about each other hardships, she wants to try to get Jace to open up to her about what happened to his parents and why exactly he needs pain to feel alive, even though she’s perfectly fine with mixing pain and pleasure she as a professional can’t stay from him and he is scared that’ll she won’t understand him. In the other books, you do see Eric giving Jace a hard time but everybody in the band did that too. Eric is somewhat special for Jace but then again so is Brian. Jace has a special but also a heartbreaking memory of the two guys separately. One involves a drumstick and the other involves Kara Sinclair. By the last few chapters, you find all about that and more.

Am I sad that after Eric’s book I’ll be completely done with the series? Yes. Why? Because I have never actually finished a book series. Movies and TV shows I can watch from the time it starts to the last episode, but I have never completed a book series. To me, it would be a great accomplishment because I didn’t think I’d ever get into this series in the first place. At the beginning, I was on the other side about rockstar finding love and if it would be true or not, well after I started reading this and two other series just like that, I’ve been kind of changing my mind over the matter. Even though these guys are fictional (thank god!) you still have tons of love like they were a real band. I still try to figure out in the bands that I enjoy listening to, if they’d be perfect for Brian, Sed, Trey, Jace, and Eric. So far I only have two perfect guys for both Sed and Jace. As I was reading HT I got into the band Of Mice & Men and thought to myself that Austin Carlile would make a really good Sed in a way. Olivia Cunning already posted a few pictures of who she had in mind for Jace Seymour and I could definitely see Matt Walst of My Darkest Days and Three Days Grace for Jace, but only with his blonde hair. So far that’s all I’ve gotten for the Sinners but maybe once I start on Eric’s story, which is called Wicked Beat maybe I’ll have a better candidate for him.

Bloggers Do Collections Better!

10488251_4127989776157_704492893010089186_nSorry for the lack of Bloggers Do It Better posts! Haven’t really had any ideas for the other prompts until I read about this one. I do collections a little bit different. Oh, who am I kidding? I do everything differently from the rest! For some it could be nail polishes and/or other beauty products. For me, it’s all about music. I am sucker for the real CDs than just downloading it off of Amazon or iTunes. The only advantage of downloading it online is not having any hassle with looking for a rap or metal albums without wondering if the swear words will be cut out or not. Because online they usually give you two options for that, but you go looking for an album of those two genres at Wal-Mart, you’re basically screwed. Trust me, I learned that the hard way. Want to know something a little bit more embarrassing. As kids we used to go to the library and a few times they’d have sales and they were actually saling CDs. I was shocked because I didn’t know they were saling those too. Well, at that time I was big into rap and she found 50 Cent’s first album and I bought it and took it home. I was so excited until I went and put it into my stereo to find that the bad words were cut out. So the majority of the record was disappointing for me but then we realized the library was owned by a church and put two and two together. I was screwed from the get-go I think.

When I was in the fourth grade, I remember taking out all of my CDs from their cases because before I didn’t know they made cases like the one I use to store of them now. I think I had over 40 CDs and I was pretty proud of myself for having so much. My first ever CD was the Backstreet Boys album and I only got that because my nana had bought me my first ever boombox. I was probably seven years old when I got them and that was like a big accomplishment back then because we didn’t have iPods, iPads, laptops, and cell phones that you store and listen to your favorite artists/bands. I grew an appreciation for them and did my best to make sure to be careful with how I handled them from day-to-day. When you do everything with your feet, putting up things like CDs can get pretty tricky. Sometimes if my dad gives me a CD he holds it the right way. He gets his fingers all around the edges and lifts it up and carries it that way. If he does it that way I have to grab it by the side and I hate doing that. I have my own special way of carrying and holding a CD. I put my pinky toe in between the hole in the middle and put my other toes around the sides and grip it that way. You should see how I drive with one in my foot! Especially coming around a tight corner. It’s not a pretty sight!

10389519_734719276592405_376637255461759790_nIt is very difficult for me to like an entire album. I’ve always that problem, but since I’ve been getting into all kinds of genres the process isn’t as harsh as what it once was. It’s been pretty easy whether or not, an album is amazing or not. I have a pretty wide variety on all three of my music outlets (iPod, CDs, and Spotify) I used to say I wouldn’t get into rap, folk, metal, country and rock but yet I have. Surprisingly, in just this picture here I don’t have them categorized like I had my nana do with her case. You can see a Carrie Underwood, Lil Jon & The Eastside Boys (my first uncensored CD and it took me a year to open it up!), Pussycat Dolls, three Britney Spears albums (that gray one is hers!), and Natasha Bedingfield album. Some CDs were bought only by chance. That Natasha Bedingfield album being one of like three out of the whole thing! I mainly got the CDs from birthdays and Christmases. Once I got like seven CDs for my 13th birthday, it was a GOOD day! Because nowadays if you want that many songs you need a $100 iTunes gift card and even then do you have to figure out what all you want. Everytime I go to download songs out of a $15 gift card I usually get about 12 songs. I don’t see how that’s really fair of that much money.  Maybe I’m being greedy I don’t know, but nobody messes with me about my music and nobody will either.

It’s Gonna Be A Good Day!

It’s only 11:11am and I don’t need to make a wish. I’m already having a good day at the moment. Even though I only got probably less than five hours of sleep last night, I’m still in a pretty good mood. Sirius XM Octane is part of my good mood actually. I have literally heard all of my favorite songs within the last two hours. It’s been crazy good! Now that my mom is awake I have my headphones on and hooked into the laptop. I’m listening to Hinder right now. It’s definitely a rock n roll kind of day. I love it! Not like it’s not that everyday, but usually I listen to other genres throughout the day, but I don’t think I’m going to do that today. Oh, and to make today even cooler. I got a surprise retweet from a band that I’ve recently discovered. Upon Wings retweeted my tweet from last night and followed me back! Now that’s something to be happy about, isn’t it? I am actually my Twitter followers for more female fronted metal bands. So if you know any, please send me something with a YouTube video with it. It’s just easier for me to do it that way.

Octane played:

  1. Lies Of The Beautiful People – Sixx:A.M.
  2. The Bleeding – Five Finger Death Punch
  3. Vilify – Device
  4. Lying From You – Linkin Park

I also wanted to see how many bands I actually listen. I combined both rock and metal bands from my Pinterest account (and added some on there too!) and I figured out I have 60 bands altogether! Here is the actual list of bands I like:

The Letter Black
Redlight King
The Pretty Reckless
Leaves’ Eyes
Butcher Babies
Diablo Swing Orchestra
Seasons After
Rev Theory
Five Finger Death Punch
After Forever
Green Day
My Darkest Days
Good Charlotte
Simple Plan
Within Temptation
Emilie Autumn
30 Seconds To Mars
Thousand Foot Krutch
Hollywood Undead
Linkin Park
Icon For Hire
In This Moment
Hey Monday
Maroon 5
Lacuna Coil
Motley Crue
Papa Roach
Breaking Benjamin
Three Days Grace
 Adelitas Way
Upon Wings
Stone Sour
Sister Sin
Fall Out Boy

If you are looking for some new music. I have a lot, as you can see, that you can choose from. These are incredible bands. All are worth a listen. I hope you have a wonderful first day of Spring. Maybe that’s why I’m so happy right now? Who knows.
