October Playlist

Howdy!

This month has been a really good one! A lot has happened, some things were great while others were not, but things have been cooling down lately so that’s a plus!

I have been listening to Spotify again! I recently got a Fire tablet as an early birthday present from a very special person. I have been playing around on it a lot but the first app I installed on it was Spotify, because I was actually very worried it wouldn’t work for me. Luckily it did and I have been really happy to be able to listen to both new and old music again. So, the monthly playlist on there will probably be really long and I’m not sorry about it! However, I am going to keep giving you my Top 20 (okay, so it turned out to be the Top 22) tracks that I loved for October below!

Hate Me by Ellie Goulding featuring Juicy WRLD
Shameless by Camila Cambello
Swan Song by Dua Lipa
Play With Fire by Sam Tinnesz featuring Yacht Money
It’s Like That by Mariah Carey
Black Widow by Iggy Alazlea featuring Rita Ora
Be Without You by Mary J. Blige
Graveyard by Halsey
Try Again by Aaliyah

Motivation by Normani
Dark Side by Ty Dolla Sign featuring Kiiara
Power Is Power by The Weeknd & SZA featuring Travis Scott
Serkland by Leaves’ Eyes
Lover by Taylor Swift
Back To Life by Hailee Steinfield
The Bones by Maren Morris
Hurts Like Hell by Madison Beer featuring Offset
Someone You Loved by Lewis CapalDi
How Much by Brianna Mazzola
Que Pena by Maluma featuring J Balvin
Reckless by Lacuna Coil
Newgrange by Celtic Woman

I really tired my hardest to keep it somewhat short, but once I started remembering all of the songs I’ve been loving on both Spotify and YouTube, it kind of exploded so that’s my best explanation there! If I can, I’ll try to post the actual playlist on my blog’s Facebook later today so if you want to listen or simply look at what I was loving this October, you can!

What were you listening this month? I’d also like to know what is your ultimate favorite Halloween song?

A-Z Disability Challenge | Q&A

Howdy!

This post wasn’t really prepared the best. When I officially decided this was what I was going to do, I was overcome with dread because whenever I ask for questions like this, I don’t get anything on anything! This was the case for both Twitter and Instagram (which I figured!) but surprisingly on Facebook I got several interesting ones! They were only from two people but at least they gave me something for this post!

Questions Asked By Brittany:

How many people have you ran over with your wheelchair?

Since I’ve had three of them at different times in my life, I figured it was only right to do an estimate for all of them! Unfortunately, I actually haven’t used my red one a lot, so for once it’s at zero! I feel like once we have a porch and I can freely go places with it, that number will increase but hopefully not as much as the previous chairs because that is just embarrassing!

I was around four years old when I received my first wheelchair, “the purple one” as my family calls it. I used it for the majority of my childhood, until the age of 14 I think. So, I feel like the number is pretty big because I was a sassy little thing and loved to run people over. I’m thinking it might be over 30-40 people. The second was the ugly hot pink chair, which I had from the age 14 to 27, I don’t feel like I ran over a ton more but I feel like it’s no more than 30 people, because once I was out of school, I didn’t like doing it anymore.

How many times have you fallen out of your wheelchair?

Thankfully I have never fallen out of my power chairs before, but with these manual wheelchairs, it’s a totally different story! The chair with the most falls is one I like to call “death trap” because of the amount of times it’s not only scared me, but others who have had watch me fall out of it. Since last February I don’t use it as much unless I am getting my hair washed. Unfortunately, my dad and I can’t throw it into the dumpster yet!

Oh, and I have fallen out of it four or five times! The last few were semi-controlled, as my mom was in the process of transferring me but the brakes never locked so it would roll back a little if you weren’t careful!

Your favorite memory?

This is so difficult to answer because I have a lot of favorite memories, but the two that jumped out at me won out. The first one was of my sister and I being outside at our grandparent’s house when we were little and one of our favorite things to do at the time was dig in the dirt by the porch. For some reason our spot was always by the big tree and one day while we were digging for treasure that came with killing invaders by the technical names of ants and worms, we found this white thing. We seriously thought it was treasure until my nana pointed out that was part of the water sewer pipe to the house. After the discovery we were told to cover it back up and pick another spot. Unfortunately, we were never as lucky in other places as that one!

The next memory is a special one because in my family, we are mostly known for our eating and laughter, but one time while my Aunt Laurie and cousins Amy and Taylor came down from up north, we managed to get everyone involved with playing Frisbee. This had never happened before, but everybody but nana and I went out into the big part of the yard to toss the Frisbee back and forth to each other. It was so much fun to watch everyone risk life and limb basically to never letting it hit the ground! The only reason we stopped was because somebody got a little overzealous and threw it up a little high and it landed on top of the house!

What did you eat for breakfast?

This was one of the most random question but I can’t leave it out, so I had a bowl of Cocoa Pebbles with a small amount of milk on top, along with a cup of milk with it too.

Questions Asked By Christine

Is there at least one or two inventions you wish you could have that made your life easier?

You know, I am always thinking of things of little inventions–it’s part of being half of my dad because he use to fix houses years ago, but I mostly try to come up with things that I can use around the house.

For example, I have this foam box that my nana got with her Meals On Wheels once a week a few years ago, and we kept two of them after realizing they were the perfect height and light enough to move around for me while in the wheelchair or on the bed. Ever since I have had thoughts about how to make this better, with using something I remember seeing in school, but I have always had hard time explaining the visions in my head so that’s why the majority of the stuff that I think about, stays in the back of my head!

Do you have the high and low of your experience(s) and how do you handle it?

I think everyone has experienced the highs and lows of things, especially ones you have no control over. You usually feel like everything is working against you, but I have learned that everything happens for a reason and God will guide you away or to things that may not make sense at the time but later will be a learning curve for you.

For the past two years, I have been using the “going with the flow” method and it has helped me out a lot with things like overthinking and the feeling of rejection. I think the best thing to remember when things don’t work out, it doesn’t mean that opportunity will never come knocking again. You just may not be ready for it right now. I have always said that I would never write for magazines but I have, because I found several places that talk about subjects that are close to me and that made me change my mind about doing it in the first place!

I hope you have enjoyed the post today and material given by both Brittany and Christine, and I want to say thank you to both of them for sending me really fun and interesting questions. If you have any more for me, leave a comment down below and I will try my best to get back to you soon!

NOTM | Metallic + Neon

Howdy!

I feel the need to say that this post could be a really long! So, it’s probably best you get comfortable in your seat because you may be here for a while.

Two years ago, my nana was living in the nursing home that my mom works, but unfortunately she was not able to stay there because of money so she went up north to live with my Aunt Laurie and Uncle Mike. The drive there is about four hours, and it’s a lot for one person who isn’t use to being in a car for that long! If you have wondered why I haven’t been talking about my regular holiday crafts or shenanigans with her, this is the reason why. At the time, I thought I would write a post about the transition but I couldn’t get myself to do it, so I’ve been rather quiet about the subject in general.

And then… I got a message from my friend Brittany, whether or not if my mom would allow her to take me up there for a surprise reunion. I was excited by the possibility of seeing everybody again, but extremely nervous because of opening old wounds but when my mom came in saying that it was okay, I was so freaking happy! The really mean part about this was that Brittany, Laurie, Mike and I had to keep it a secret from the rest of my family for three days! What was funny though was I pulled what Brittany did to me the night before the Five Finger death Punch concert in 2016. On Friday, my nana sent me a funny video and even though I had no plans of talking to her before the surprise, I just kept chatting to her through Facebook and I ended it the way I always do with “love and miss bunches” knowing she had no idea what was going to happen the very next day!

Our family is known to pull great surprises! It started with my Uncle david and then it went to his son, my cousin Chris, who I think perfected it that everybody has it embedded in their heads! Somehow the torch was passed to Brittany and I, and it was great! My nana and Chris’s wife Amber cried! And yes, we got their reactions on video too!

After we surprised my nana though, we had about an hour and a half to kill before everybody showed up, so I had some crackers because I got motion sickness in the car, thanks to my damn nerves! And I don’t know what made me ask this question, but it just came out of my mouth. I asked nana if she had any nail polishes and while I was there, if she could paint my nails for me. I think it made her feel good to be able to do this again. She even remembered to put the napkin underneath my fingers so we didn’t ruin my shirt!

My Aunt Laurie had some really interesting colors in her collection, but I went for one Halloween-ish color and some metallic polishes too.

Let’s focus on my hands first; they are usually the most complicated to do because of the way they are placed. Since I am not able to unbend my elbows, I can’t just hold out my hands for her. Instead she has to come closer to me to be able to reach them. A lot of the times, we miss sections of the nail itself or they get upper part of the skin and she has to use her finger or Q-Tip to wipe it off. I always feel like she’s giving me the “nana touch” when this happens though, so I usually try to keep her from trying to fix it.

Once we finished with the fingers, we took a little break for both of our sake’s because while this was going on, I’m pretty sure we were holding our breaths the whole time! We needed a quick breather before moving on to the toes. At least the toes would easier for her because I could easily move my feet wherever she wanted to have better access to them.

For this, I thought it was only right to have this neon green color, as my crazy /Halloween flare. I knew I was going to use it, there was no way around it! What was neat about was that since it was a vibrant hue that we only needed one coat! Honestly, all three of them were like this, so that pretty was handy! Anyways, my nana had less mistakes when it came to the toes and even though it was weird to have polish back on my nails after so long, there was nothing more cuter than the reaction on my nephew’s face when it realized my toes were green two days later!

Everytime I go on a trip, whether it was long or short, I always wish for more time. This was no different. I truly miss because around my nana everyday, but I know how much she enjoys being there with my other family members, they take really good care of her and I feel like it would be selfish of me to linger on the separation. I have to be supportive of where she is now, and we respect that we both have other things going on but when we have a free moment, we can talk about things on Facebook. I don’t think it will take another two years for us (or any of my family members) to get together again, I refuse to accept that reality. However, we may have to wait until spring to make it happen though!

How do you like my nails for October? What is the longest you have went without having fingers or toes painted? Let me know below!

October Moodboard

Howdy!

A few weeks ago, I talked about something about the fun of creating moodboards, after basically discovering it on Pinterest by mistake. In my ‘Life Latey’ post, I showed you my first one, which was all about sunflowers! I thought my love for them shoul be first because it went with the banner I used above to showcase what my inspiration came from in the first place. I was just going to leave it be, but it’s almost Halloween, I need to have something orange on here! So, I made up another one for that exact reason. I didn’t plan on having two monthly boards for October, but here we are!

Before I officially start talking about this, I just wanted to mention that I have always known about these things by the fellow blogger Jemma of Dorkface. She talked about them once or twice in the past and I’ve had the idea of doing this before because of her. I’m not sure if she still makes them or if anyone else does either, but they are really fun to come with and generally make you feel good and productive!

My thinking process behind was somewhat the same when I came up with the sunflower board, I was up late one night thinking of what items fit the coloring schemes of each one and in the next day or two, just scour around the house for anything that could work. For my first one, majority of the stuff included actually came from my room! However, for the Halloween board, I knew I wasn’t going to get that lucky so I only borrowed two things from the other rooms! The rest I already had on hand or foot shall we say!

The Items Used For The Halloween Board:

So, let’s start on the top right and work ourselves around.

I went into my desk’s drawer and grabbed my orange bandanna to use it as a backdrop. I have a couple of other colors in there so they’ll be good to inspire future moodboards! Anyways, I unfolded and laid it down on the floor. Once this was done, I realized I had nothing else to use for this nearby so most of the wrinkles we will see are probably from my tires after going back and forth different areas of my room for items!

The first things I have on top are little things. The first item is a Scentsy box of Pumpkin Beard. This is a favorite of my parent’s so I thought it would be a nice gesture to have a part of them in the post too! This gave me trouble too, but in a different way. I couldn’t figure out if I wanted the front part of the package or the color of the actual wax. I just ended up using the front instead just to make things easier on myself. Next, I was given this cute mini pumpkin figurine that my nana had, it isn’t scary by any means. It has an adorable smile with a witch’s hat on top of the stem. I had issues with how I wanted it to stand. Ultimately, I thought everything would look better if it was flat like the rest.

We move on to the bottom right, where I know it isn’t the same vibrant of orange as the rest, I still thought it could go with the theme! This was a book I purchased back in 2017 I think. I was in the middle of oing NaNoWriMo for the first time, and I thought this would be great and very useful for me. Unfortunately, I haven’t used it yet. I think the shear size of it has scared me away. I had to dig it out of the box of my other books for this project! If anyone wants, you’re welcome to it; just let me know!

Next up is my bag of Goldfish crackers. My dad and I love these little crackers, mostly because they’re usually salty. We enjoy these and two other flavors: BBQ and sour & cream. We also tired the pizza ones, they were good, they reminded of the pizza flavored Pringles back in the late 90’s! The only bad part I didn’t like about these were the fact that they were really intense in that rich flavor. Anyways, the original packaging worked wonders for this idea.

When I decided I was going to do this, the very first piece I had my eye on was a Halloween “ABC” book we got for my nephew last year. He didn’t really care for it when we got it but now that he is in love with books of all genres, he really likes it! The book itself is very bright and cover just screamed out to me before I thought about making this into a reality. I think I had another thing I was going to use for this, but I don’t think I had enough room. Oh, well I can always have it for next year!

So, that’s it for my board. Now I would like for you to create a Halloween or fall/harvest type of moodboard as well! Again, I’d like for you to use about four or more things in it. Please post your creations either on Facebook or Instagram, you can tag me too so I have better access into seeing them!

What should we do for November? do you know a color that would represents Thanksgiving or fall in general for those who don’t celebrate it, because I don’t want to leave them out either! Let me know!

A-Z Disability Challenge | P : The Perks of Being Disabled

Hello!

When I came up with this topic, I really wanted to get through all of the misconceptions of what it is to be a disabled person, and attempt to explain that this life is not as fun as it can be portrayed on TV or even online for some people.

Are there any perks at all?

This question is sort of tough to answer because I think it differs between the ages and how extreme one’s disabilities are compared to the average person.

As a child, I really relished on the special attention of others. When I was in the second grade, I was what you call the “teacher’s pet” because of the favoritism that was on display by my teacher and I. At the time, I wasn’t going to basically ‘fight back’ because I was eating it up so much that I remember when our teacher was taking everybody on a restroom break, she picked me up and carried me so I could hang out with everyone in the hallway. The look on everybody’s faces told me that they were a bit jealous of this affection, although nobody ever said anything to my face.

Now that we have this part out of the way, I feel like I need to say that having an aide (or personal assistant as I’ve heard some bloggers say in the past) isn’t the funnest thing in the world. I’ve loved the people that have taken care of me throughout my time in school, I still keep in touch with a few of them, but I’ve only really appreciated what they did after I had graduated. Of course, there were some issues in the past, but the one that plays out the most was after Christmas break when I was in the sixth grade, I suddenly had a new one. I only had 2 replacements and they were each a surprise. Once all of my friends realized my previous aide was gone, a lot of them were more upset at the fact that they weren’t going to be with me anymore.

My nana and I talked about this a few years later about why this happened. She’s the one who made the statement that maybe it wasn’t the outcome they were angry about, rather than they saw her as a friend. Out of all of the people that took care of me. I had one woman who was in her late 20’s. So, everything that my nana was making a lot of sense because she allowed them to get away with a lot of stuff because she might’ve wanted to be accepted among the rest of the class too, the majority of the other aides I was around would say something either to them or the teacher. I would always feel extremely guilty because if it wasn’t for my disability, they wouldn’t be in the room and could get away with the things they were doing behind our teacher’s back.

Having an aide looks fun at first, but after a while, some things get old. I’m not saying the people that I was with for eight hours, five days a week were elderly, I’m just saying as I continued to get older, I was looking for more independence but protection at the same time. and when you feel like you’re not getting as much as what you feel like you should be, plays with you a little. The one thing that made it worse was when you feel powerless in your situation because I viewed myself as a ‘normal’ person, never someone with a disability, despite driving a wheelchair around in the halls at top speed! I craved to have some space between the two that I feel like I could never achieve unfortunately.

Now that I’ve been out of school for close to 10 years, I have grown to love my body as a disabled woman. I think being away from my friends and of course crushes was a great thing for me because I wasn’t putting myself through all of that pressure to being someone I’m not. Personally, I don’t have any perks of being disabled; I struggle to do things, yes, but I don’t see the things I do as a perk nor having to ask for help for small things, I would rather learn how to do them by myself. So, my way of thinking has changed drastically over the years but I think this process has been a successful one!

If you have a disability of any kind, how do you feel about the perks? do you agree or disagree with what I had to say above? When did you realize your views on the matter changed?

Top 40 Halloween Baby Names!

Howdy!

It is finally October, so it is perfectly fine for me to talk about this subject out loud, but let’s be honest, I’ve been talking about fall since the beginning of summer! When it comes to this post in general, I’ve had to keep it hidden so people wouldn’t think I was that kook-y, but my family members knew its appearance was coming soon.

This will be in the same format as my post about the possible names of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex could name their little one. Unfortunately, I was somewhat wrong with my picks but I did get one part right, their baby boy is named after Prince Harry, just not with a name that I expected at the time, but now I really like it and everything fits well, as it’s both American and British worthy! Anyways, I will talk about eight different names from both sexes and explain why I believe each one could work for all seasons!

I think I might have went a little overzealous with this picture, but in my defense, I had a lot more names that I could have included but I decided that would be too much for me. A lot of these names are full-on Halloween themed, whereas some are not, and they are very subtle to the point where you can hide the meaning behind it. I wanted to respect everybody’s point of view with the ones I’ve selected.

Now, as I’ve successfully put this banner on here, and considering how careful I was on how everybody was straight from top to bottom, I have already found a mistake. If I hadn’t put four fairly large sections I would actually attempt to fix it, but there’s nothing I can do so if you spot it, please have a little laugh on me!

Here are the 16 names that I thought deserved a little loving, and maybe they’ll be an inspiration to you and your partner to give to your newly witch or goblin.

Abigail Rose – I think the name “Abigail” is a beautiful name. It is a very timeless, but if you are familiar with the account of the Salem Witch Trails in the 1600’s, then you might remember that one of the first people to accuse a person for being a witch was a young girl by the name of Abigail Williams. Whether or not you believe in witchcraft or if she was making it up, the name is a beautiful example of having a spooky disguise as it is still classy and elegant but there’s this little hint of history within it too.

Daphne Grace – You might not think of this as a Halloween-ish type of name, but I do. I grew up watching the Scooby-doo cartoons and out of all of the names featured on the show, this was my only favorite. I have never liked the nickname Freddie for Frederick so that is why I didn’t include it on the boys side either. Since the show was created in the late 1960’s, it still has that hippie flare that some people might enjoy.

Ingrid Alexandra – This one was inspired the character Ingrid from Witches Of East End and yes, that was one of the reasons why I also put Freya on there too, but there was a character on The Originals with that same name, but they were all witches on their shows. The other reason why I chose to use it here was because everytime I think or hear of the name Ingrid, I immediately think of the color green. I would love to read up on auras and what they mean, especially if they can appear on words or baby names, because this happens a lot and I’m always at a loss to explain the reasoning for it.

Marnie Olivia – I actually worked on the banner above back in spring, but I had switch it out purely because I forgot to put “Marnie” on the list! I think it is an important name to this post because nobody would know it was a Halloween inspired name unless they have all of the Halloweentown films growing up! I have added “Agatha” to the girl’s side too, but I think this is a quirky name to give a little girl for the witch-y vibes!

Nercissa Louise – It was so difficult not to include a whole bunch of Harry Potter characters into this post, so I was very proud with the amount that ended up making it! I really love the name Nercissa, but I’m not really sure why though. A part of me thinks it’s because it feels like a classic but has this dark flare about it too.

Prudence Alice – Now when I went to include this one to my list, I figured people would think I put it on there because of my obsession with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, but it’s not. I generally loved it as “Prue” on the original Charmed series. I always envied her power on the show too! This is another really old name too, it actually dates back to the 1600’s, around of the time of the Salem Witch Trails!

Selene Brooke – I’ve known about this name for a long time because before my dad brought home Oliver, we had a cat named Selene. She was originally my Aunt Laurie’s but somehow she gave her to us. Selene was mostly an outside cat. She was very shy and very pretty! I remember being bitten a couple of times after trying to get close to her. After a few months, we think she took off because we never saw her again. I think my mom tried to hold off a few days before making that announcement because she really loved her!

It would be a long time before I hear the name again, but for different circumstances; this time it came from the Underworld films! I still love the name as it sounds really dark and mysterious

Wilhelmina Amalia – Now, you might not associate this one with fall or Halloween at first, but I found out late in 2018 that the name Wilhelmina was one of the characters in a little animation show on Boomerang called “Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz”. She is the Wicked Witch Of The East’s niece that basically wants to finish what her aunt started. The TV show is cute, but I think I loved the name better!

Now that we have the girl side done, we can move on to talk about the boy names that I have picked out for you. I had a lot more word names for this part because I just haven’t been inspired to use them for the girls yet. They all just sound masculine to me, but you could still use them for girls too, so don’t go with what I tell you because these are my opinions too.

Alchemy Paul – The boys were pretty easy as I have always loved adding a more spooky flare to their names compared to the girls. I wasn’t too keen on this one at first, but I think once I figured out it is apart of both the historical and science worlds, it makes me love it a lot more. It even reminds me of my papaw too!

Byron William – If you love Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and John William Polidori’s The Vampyre, you really need to take a closer look on what inspired both of these works. The story goes that Lord Byron brought a big group of novelists to stay in a villa and share stories. He even challenged to create the scariest story they could write and this is the beginning of history. So, if you enjoy the English name Byron but want to give it some spooky flare, here you go!

Harvest Roy – A lot of people are loving this name lately! However, the only way I’ve seen it used as a girl name. I have never loved it for a girl, everything about it makes me think of a guy! It might have something to do with football, tagliatelle parties, beer always coming into my head when I say it out, but I just love it this way. I would also only use it with smaller middle names too!

Jasper Augustus – Out of all the Twilight names that I had in my original list, this was my ultimate favorite of the bunch! Jasper and Carlyle were my favorites on the movies, but I think Jasper is both classic and cool at the same time!

Marius Bernhardt – When I went about creating this list, I wanted to make sure I represented all of the Halloween-y movies as I could so that I had a wide array of names to pull from, so thankfully I’ve been trying to watch the ones of Anne Rice’s books. There were plenty to use in this post, but one that I really liked the most was Marius. It is such a mysterious name but you could easily use “Mars” for a nickname though!

Poe Lafayette – There is no chance in hell am I leaving out the King of Halloween literature: Edgar Allen Poe. I thought his first and middle names were too common to be on here, but Poe is a great way to honor him. I would definitely use it as a first name, but I think it could work anywhere you want to put it.

Wolf Travis – A part of me wanted to use “Wolfgang” for the list, but I thought it would be too much. Personally, I love that way but using “Wolf” as a nickname. I love older names compared some of the popular trends. Whatever way you prefer, I think it is a strong name for this time of the year.

Viktor Campbell – I wasn’t going to use multiple names for the same book or movie, but the more I started picking out ones I wanted to talk about on this section, I quickly became aware that I wasn’t going to get by with it. This name is featured on the Underworld series with this spelling, but I like it with the original “Victor” for the creator of the monster on Frankenstein. It is a very serious name but I like it that way!

We are finally done with this post. This is my final baby names post for the year, or at least we’ll see! I might find another tag or talk about my favorite names of the year, but we’ll see what happens in the meantime!

How did you like all of the names above? If you were able to use any of them for a baby or maybe a pet, which one(s) would you use?

A-Z Disability Challenge | O : Saying “Yes” To Different Opportunities

I think everybody looks for opportunities to do things, whether it’s on their bucket list or just a little something they’ve had on the back burner. We all have our reasons and excuses for never getting it done before, but I don’t think there’s not a person that jumps at each opportunity than somebody with a disability.

If we see an opening to something, we will likely take it to see if it’ll work out or not. I should know, because everytime something like this happens, I will take it. I’m not the one that has the problem, it’s usually other family members that are more afraid of the ending result–they have no faith in me!–but afterwards they figure out they had nothing to worry about in the first place!

I am for the most part, pretty brave with taking on new or in this case old challenges. I would like to get back to transferring to my bed to the toilet, and finally the wheelchair to the bed. When I was younger, we spent a good two years trying to make this a reality so that as everybody got older, there would be very little lifting involved to do the simplest things. We already do something similar whenever I get a shower, but these two are our next hurdles to accomplish.

I don’t know about you out there, but when I see an opportunity to do something when the other person leaves the room, I usually take it! There have been many times that my mom has came into my room from grabbing some clothes from the laundry room and I am like in between the edge of the commode and my mattress. And to make feel even more uneasy, at this point of time I am usually thinking if I should just take a leap of faith or ask for help. Nine times out of 10, I just jump over to the other side! If I can keep my smile to myself, I can do this without hurting myself in the end.

I know whenever I do this, my mom is proud but of course she is also absolutely afraid that I am going to hurt myself even worse than hitting my feet on the metal parts of the commode. I have told her in the past that if I get hurt than it’s my own fault, so at least I’m taking responsibility for my actions! Now when it comes to my dad, there is no way he would agree to anything of this. I have brought it up that I could scoot over to the other side since it was so close together, but after a couple of seconds he told me no. However, he has been getting some great ideas lately! Once he remembered that the armrests of my manual chair can be removed and the fact that wheelchair lines up perfectly to the bed, I can safely scoot onto it. The first time we did this gave me flashbacks to the time my mom and to do it, but we figure to put on the brakes and my butt went sliding through the end of the seat. So, to say this was the one time where I was terrified was an understatement! We did great though so that is all that happens!

How are you with taking any opportunity that comes your way? Are you more timid about doing things or is it your family that keeps you from taking chances?
