Today I am doing a fun tag and it’s all about HARRY POTTER!
Unfortunately, I haven’t finished reading the actual series. In 2016, I borrowed my cousin Taylor’s first three books, just to see if I could actually get into them as I have with the movies. I made it through both The Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber Of Secrets like it was nobody’s businesses, but I’ve been kicking myself for not being able to stop comparing The Prisoner of Azkaban to its film release. I’m still hoping that one day I’ll finish it, but right now I’m just content with that I managed to read the other two!
I found this on the same blog: A Geek Girl’s Guide, but the questions were taken by two separate tags and so instead of doing both of them, I just meshed them all together! I would also like to point out that I’ve left out a question or two from the original layout. Hope you don’t mind that too much, so let’s get into it! 🙂
Surprisingly I liked Chamber of Secrets a lot more than I thought I would. There were a lot of good and interesting material that I felt was left out in the film that would have made better sense to the person watching the movie, like the ghosts. Pee Wee and the story of Flich and why he is so bitter to the students and some of the staff.
I really like both Prisoner of Azkaban and most recently Half-Blood Prince, I think both of these films have such dark tones to them but the happier times really shine too. However, I will agree Dumbledore’s death wasn’t the greatest thing about HBP but still, I think it has a lot of comical moments to it and I think that’s saying something.
Least Favorite Movie?
I’ve always been divided between Globet Of Fire and Deathly Hallows Part 1. GOF because of the introduction to the Death Eaters and their masks, and of course Cedric’s death doesn’t help either. As far as DHP1 goes, I think it’s fairly boring, because all they’re doing in searching for the horcuxes and the only good things about is that Ginny and Harry kiss and get caught by George, and Dobby saves Harry Potter but unfortunately dies at the end.
I loved the first book/movie, so there are a lot of lines that I like to quote out loud whenever I watch it, like this one.
Now if you two don’t mind, I’m going to bed before either one of you gets us killed or worse, expelled.
Sadly, I didn’t understand the reason why Hermoine said it in that way until much later and realized that if they got killed there, they’d haunt the halls like The Grey Lady or Sir Nicholas. And when I say “much later” I mean like several months ago! Yeah, I’m a little slow sometimes!
That’s actually really difficult, but I really love Molly Weasley. She just took in Harry like one of her own, Heromine too, but I mean she didn’t know he was thee Harry Potter when they first met at the train station. She was amazing to him after being around his crappy Aunt Petunia for years!
Favorite Female Character?
I am in love with Luna, from the moment we meet her in Order Of The Phoenix, you get a different person then the other female characters. She’s not out to impress anybody, she accepts herself and her quirkiness–but she doesn’t see herself in that way, she’s “just as sane” as everybody else.
This is another difficult question to answer. I think it would have to be Umbridge and Lucius Malfoy. I literally have a difficult time watching OOTP because of her snotty personality. And Lucius, for obvious reasons!
Favorite Male Character?
Sorry, but why doesn’t anybody say Hagrid? I absolutely loved him to pieces, but I was a little troubled during the DHP2 when he just shows up bonded by Voldemort’s camp, like when the hell did that happen? Because if he got captured while at Bill and Fluer’s wedding, then why wasn’t Molly, Ginny, etc snatched as well?
I know everybody will say either Snape or McGonagall, but I loved Remus Lupin very much. It was nice to see a teacher that 1.) wasn’t full of themselves and 2.) seemed to really care about Harry and wanted to help him in any way they could. I’m not saying Snape or McGonagall weren’t like this, but Lupin was like Harry’s third guardian apart from both The Weasley’s and Sirius Black.
Would You Rather
Would you rather wash Snape’s hair or spend a day listening to Lockhart rant about himself?
I think I could get through Lockhart talking about himself, because I feel like you would have to drug Snape (I’m such a muggle!) to be able to do anything to him.
Would you rather duel an elated Bellatrix or an angry Molly?
I would 100% duel an elated Bellatrix. I am not messing with an angry Molly!
How would you travel to Hogwarts, ride on the Hogwarts Express or drive the flying car?
My brother-in-law said he’d want to do both, but honestly I think experiencing the Hogwarts Express would be awesome! Especially getting to see the trolly of goodies. I want a chocolate frog and a package of Bertie Botts Every Flavored Beans!
Would you rather kiss Voldemort or give Umbridge a bubble bath?
I think if Voldemort ever got kissed early on in his life, I don’t think he wouldn’t had been so evil.
Would you rather ride a Hippogriff or be dragged by Fawkes?
I think I would be dragged by Fawkes because I always feel like I could end up like Draco and get myself kicked or beaked by this thing!
Book To Movie Adaption
Is there a character which you felt differently about in the movies versus the books?
I think after discovering the reason why Flich is the way he is, makes me look at him differently.
Is there a movie you preferred instead of the book?
So far no, but I think I like the COS (book) compared to the movie, because there’s obviously more information about certain characters, but the whole scene of Tom Riddle and Basilisk was less frightening for me because back in the day I would literally try to avoid that movie at any cost and now I’m like that with DHP1.
Richard Harris or Michael Gambon as Dumbledore?
I think if Richard Harris wasn’t so old, he would have been allowed to do more of his own stunts, I think we would love him a little bit more. I also wish they would have cast Michael Gambon in the beginning because he was obviously a better choice.
Your top thing (person or event) which wasn’t included in the movie that annoyed you the most?
I think we need to talk about what happens to Norbert the Dragon during the first movie. The whole scheme to get him out of there to Ron’s brother Charlie is very informative in the book, but it’s not quite explained in the movie. All you know is that within 20 minutes after Norbert hatches, he is taken away by the Ministry.
I wish the scenes where Harry arrives at The Barrows during COS was longer, although it’s only like two pages long in the book, I’d still like to know more of the magic the Weasley’s are exposed to, because the reader is as impressed as Harry when he first goes into the house!
If you could remake any of the Potter movies, which would it be?
I couldn’t, but what’s sad is that one day, somebody is going to attempt it and it’ll be a 50/50 deal whether or not it’ll be as good as the originals. Hopefully by then, our technology will be able to produce something new to the magic that is described in the story and will be able to really surprise the older and newer generations to the series.
Which house was your first gut feeling you’d be a part of?
I don’t know, I feel like I’d belong in every house but my gut is putting me into Ravenclaw, mostly for the fact that I’m very patience and have a lot of wit. I actually put a poll on my personal Facebook and everybody said Ravenclaw too.
Which house were you actually sorted into?
I remember doing a quiz a few years ago, and I think I was put into Gryffindor, but granted this wasn’t a very good quiz–it literally only had five questions!
Which class would be your favorite?
Honestly I think it would Defensive Against The Dark Arts or Divination. I already have physic tendencies but DATDA would be really cool to learn more about in a sense, but of course only if Professor Lupin was teaching it.
Which spell do you think would be most useful to learn?
Alohomora and Lumos. I’m only saying these two alone because I literally can’t open doors on my own with or without my wheelchair and I don’t have a light by my bed. I literally use my flashlight to see anything in the dark! So I think both of these would be sort of handy for me.
Which character do you think at Hogwarts you’d instantly become best friends with?
Weirdly enough probably Seamus, mostly because I was around guys like him when I was school anyways! I also have a thing for explosives too!
If you could own one of the three Hallows, which would it be?
Cloak of Invisibility. If it worked so well to the youngest brother why would I want to chose any other item? I’m also not looking for power or resurrecting anybody back from the dead, they’d probably be miserable!
I’d say Sirius Black.
If you could bring one character back to life, which would it be?
Ahh, again I think it would Sirius Black. He was such a good character and once Harry found out that he had nothing to do with his parent’s death, made everything seem easier for him, that he didn’t have to stand up to Voldemort by himself. He had Sirius and Dumbledore by his side, but after Sirius was killed, it was so sad because there was a lot of things that could’ve happen to Harry in a happier way while being around Sirius was alive.
Hallows or Horcruxes?
Hallows. Hands down!
What would your Patronus be?
I actually had to look up the real definition of a Patronus, in case I got it wrong the first time, but I think mine would be a Hawk. They symbolize something special for me and they make me happy, so that would be mine. However, since the definition doesn’t exactly say that it should be an animal per se, so I’d also say maybe a tree. They also make me very happy and are strong and can be born again after some time.
If you were on the Quidditch team which position would you play?
Now, after going after what Mad-Eye’s broomstick looks like in the films, I always hoped that there would be a cool broom for people with disabilities. To me, I’d be a keeper. I mean, even without flying on a broomstick I already have a track record of being quick anyways, so I think I would be perfect for this role!
Were you happy with the ending?
Since I have yet to finish the last book, I don’t know if I should really answer this question, because I don’t really know what happens to Harry, Heromine, and Ron after the death of Voldemort. I’ve only known what the ending of DHP2 shared with us, so I’m kind of hoping there’s more information in the book itself.
How much does Harry Potter mean to you?
I remember reading the first book in my English class in eighth grade and it was my first ever fantasy book, and what was funny about it was that earlier in the year I went to my friend’s house for a birthday party and they all wanted to watch it that night but I was too afraid to watch it with them that I actually fell asleep before it started. Here when we read it in class, I knew all of the information and then our teacher made us watch it and compare things in both of them, which was the worst thing she could have done because this was reason why I’m having trouble reading POA!
Now as I get older, I want to rediscover it as reader but I also really enjoy watching the films too. Whenever I’m down or in a weird mood, I can just lay out on my bed and watch two and a half movies in an afternoon.
So what do you think? Could you complete this ultimate tag like me? If you do, I’d like to see your answers!
