October Playlist

untitled

Howdy!

Today I’m back with another monthly playlist.

You’re probably wondering why I’m a week early, it’s actually a long story but I decided to give myself a week off the last week of October to the beginning of November–including my birthday! So I wrote and scheduled this a week ahead of time to cut me some slack!

I haven’t been listening to my Spotify lately, just mostly my iPod. I’ve also been around my sister a l0t this month so that kind of gives some rap songs that I don’t normally hear or talk about on here. So my list of music is a little bit different. I’ve also had different songs stuck in my head too, I’m hoping you’ll like this little list and as always at the bottom I’ve shared my real playlist for anyone who wants more to check out!

Ride On – Celtic Woman
Strong – London Grammar
Walk Beside Me – Celtic Woman
Adrenalize – In This Moment
The Truth Beneath The Rose – Within Temptation
Wild For The Night – A$AP Rocky
The Man – Ed Sheeran
Candy Paint – Post Malone
Bodek Yellow – Cardi B
Happier – Ed Sheeran

Here is my full Spotify playlist for October if you’d like to listen to all of the songs I’ve enjoyed this past month!

Favorite Scents

20597385_1322910557818524_6552812975269982835_n

Howdy!

So I wanted to talk about my favorite scents today. I literally feel at times like a damn bloodhound because I smell so many things! I can literally get up in the middle of the night and smell something my dad is cooking from the kitchen through the vent. Sometimes I can come out of deep sleep because I can smell something so heavenly!

We’re not going to talk about food scents necessarily in this post, however as you will notice quickly, I have nothing against them! I do love the smell of pumpkin, apple and cinnamon in the fall! Even though I’m not into the whole pumpkin spice lattes or apple pies at Thanksgiving! The only reason why I’m perfectly fine with cinnamon in general is that it makes me think of cinnamon rolls and that’s my #1 favorite breakfast item.

My mom and sister do have their favorite baking scents though. My sister got mom into this Wild Berry Cheesecake and the first time Blondie had it going around in the apartment it wasn’t so bad because she has a big living room so it has room to breathe really, but at our house it only has the living room and kitchen, it can get very overwhelming at times! My dad can’t handle very many sweet smells so this doesn’t mix well with him and it doesn’t make me feel good either when she’s put a whole cube inside the burner. The other one that Blondie likes to use is this Brownie Pecan and it actually really good, but mom and dad absolutely hate it!

My mom had a Scentsy burner that she didn’t really use and we have one in living room, plus a couple of smelly candles – those are mostly used in case of emergencies though! This other burner is now by my window. I don’t use it a lot, but every once in a while I like to put it on and it kind of soothes me throughout the day. I actually like the fruit scents. I don’t know why I gravitate towards them so much but they’re those kind of scents that help generate cravings. I have enough cravings as it is, so different fruits are good to keep me and my stomach neutralize, plus it helps my dad as well!

One day my mom was washing my hair and she used this mango shampoo and it smelled divine! Ahh, I was seriously addicted to it. I could have done without the champagne layer it had but you could mostly smell the mangoes. And I’m not really into mangoes, I’ve only just tried them a few months ago! They’re not bad! So when I found out my parents were going to the store one afternoon I had them try and find me a mango scent to put into my burner and they find this Peach and Mango Citrus blend.  My dad was the one who found it as my mom couldn’t find anything that was just mango. Luckily, I do love peaches so it works too!

One of the most used is the Sangria scent. I really like this one! It’s not a strong scent but I don’t try to use a whole cube because I like to close my door throughout the day and since it’ll only get colder I tend to keep my window locked as well, so mom only puts a small chunk of it and it usually lasts about a week before I need to add more in the little bowl. I know it has berries in it, because a regular sangria does have berries, but it’s not over-ly berry, it’s actually kind of musky too. It’s very subtle but I don’t know if it’s just because I don’t use a lot of it at one time or if it’s just a mild scent in general.

On the day I decided to work on this post, I put up a status on my Facebook asking one of the questions I have below and I got a lot of interesting answers. I knew about the good things about lavender but I had a few people say both coconuts and peppermint. I thought that was pretty interesting too!

What are your favorite scents? Do you change with the seasons? Is there a smell that you think companies should create?

Top 5 Crushes | MEN

chick

Howdy!

Now we’re back with the second round of celebrity crushes and this time it’s all about the men! If you didn’t last week’s post, that’s all right because I will explain it again. Choosing only five guys is very difficult compared to the ladies; at least with there, I have a good top 5 and top 10 list whereas on the male side it just depends on my mood and whatever I have watched or listened to throughout the day.

There were a few times where I kept thinking of putting the Skarsgard, Hemsworth and Leto brothers on the list and have them be counted as one, but the more I thought about it, it just seemed too weird so I didn’t add any of them! So figuring out a definite list was even harder to do, but I did promise more singers on this one because I seem to be more attractive to male singers than female. I don’t know why though because I can relate to their lyrics and feelings more.

Tom Hardy – British

As I’ve said above, this was a difficult thing to put together but I do have to say that even if I couldn’t put down five guys, I could have just done a whole post about Tom Hardy. I know a lot of people who probably wouldn’t had mind that at all honestly!

My dad and I have seen a lot of his movies. For at least four months straight, we were even on exactly how many films we’d seen with him in it: 11, but now that my dad has seen Legend he is now beating me at the moment! However I feel like it shouldn’t count because he said that the movie itself was “good” but he didn’t like all of the British accents. I disagree with that statement, I think British accents are sexy as hell, however I do believe Irish accents are better, sorry not sorry! If Tom Hardy has a film where he’s speaking in a full on Irish accent send it my way please! Thank you!

Johnny Depp – American

Yeah, I’m saying it! Johnny Depp is hot. However, I got on the “Depp train” later in life. Apparently watching had a triple duty and I didn’t realize it until later. Don’t worry even I’m disappointed in myself I didn’t cave in before!

In my defense though, the movie trailers I was seeing him in at the time were the Pirates Of The Caribbean and I don’t like him in those types of films where his face is covered up. It took me about four years just get myself to feel comfortable to watch Alice In Wonderland because I literally had to keep telling myself “Johnny Depp is underneath all of that make up” over and over again! I can’t watch his films from the late 90’s and early 00’s unfortunately, because I find him more gorgeous as he ages. I’m saying that in a good way, don’t get ahold of me Stephanie! 😀

tumblr_n997zgjvoh1qe5yh8o1_r1_500

Luke Evans – Welsh

I know, I know, Luke is gay but that does not mean that I am comfortable with giving him up so quickly! Funnily enough as I was going through my Pinterest board full of amazingly hot men it was another gay man that reminded me about Luke! So I knew I have to add him onto this list and doesn’t he count for a singer too? I mean, he did play Gaston?

I found Luke later on in life too. You can actually than my Uncle David as he took Kristi, Chris, Blondie and I to see Fast Five when it was still in theaters and this was how Kristi and I were first introduced to him. We literally left drooling over him and Paul Walker! I have to add Michelle Rodeguiez, Elsa Pataky, and Gal Gadot onto that statement as well. Anyways, ever since I’ve been trying to watch as many films as I can with him in it, except for The Raven I did try to watch it, but I have never been able to finish it.

tumblr_n95t5jqbxm1qd84t1o1_500

Oliver “Oli” Skyes – British

Oli Sykes! I made up a rule when I started my rock/heavy metal phase in 2009, I would not look up any of the bands I listened to until I had fallen in love with at least five songs or more, which seems like a good idea considering I was familiar with the gothic scene of that time so I just wanted to give myself some space and learn to love what I was hearing, not what I was seeing on my screen!

Bring Me The Horizon was one of those five original bands that took me a good three years to finally get into fully and then I realized how freaking hot rockers covered in tattoos from head to toe were and then also thanks to Oli I began to enjoy neck tattoos and I know if I ever brought a guy home with a giant neck tat my dad would kill me or him!

tumblr_nlxnlk4qzq1u3wveao2_500

Alexander Ludwig – Canadian

I remember watching the first Hunger Games film and absolutely hating the character Cato, he was a cocky son of a bitch and I was kind of happy in a way that he died at the end! Again, sorry not sorry! I also thought Alexander looked really, really young in that film. He looked like a teenager, which for any actor in their early twenties can be a plus in a way, but then thanks to my father and I began to back track to my original thoughts of the fact he was that cute.

When Alexander is on Vikings, he has a growing beard and he looks so much older and like he’s like two years younger than me! When he appears on the later part of season one he still looks pretty young but then as I’ve seen on YouTube, he looks more grown up and really good looking! I just hope he isn’t as cocky because that would be a big turn off honestly!

On my other post I included a few more people and I figured I’d continue on with that tradition and say Henry Cavill, Theo James, Christian Bale, Brantley Gilbert, Charlie Hunnam, Ian Somerhalder, David Boreanaz, G-Eazy, Will Smith, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I really hope you’ve enjoyed these posts!

What are some of your male celebrity crushes? Do you have a certain type you go for? Let me know!

DIY: Last Minute Pumpkin Ideas!

2

Hello!

We are two weeks out before Halloween (a week for those of you who will be celebrating 27th and on!) and after Monday’s post, I was really inspired to compile all of my favorite pumpkin crafts for you! I think crafting with pumpkins is a fun thing to do both as an adult and if you’re parent with young children! It’s like the seasonal coloring book you never thought you needed until later on.

For the most part, every post has a list of what you’d need and I have even done step-by-step photographs in case you get lost in my words which has happened before! I try to be very helpful in guiding you through all of the projects, some might be a little confusing and I do apologize for that. Sometimes we just made up the rules as we went along and that can be pretty fun too! You are welcome to interpret what you see into anything your heart desires as long as you enjoy what you’re doing and don’t stress about your mistakes!

  • The Pumpkins – I have many versions of how to melt crayons on pumpkins but this one is visually pleasing I think. The pictures turned out beautifully, so that is the main reason why I am sharing this one instead.
  • The “America” Pumpkin – This is a clear example of a last minute pumpkin idea, my nana and I actually worked on this early November and I published the post later that month while we discussed what we were going to do for Christmas! This is probably the simplest one out of the bunch!
  • Awareness Glitter Pumpkin – I decided to include this one because October is the month for two very big things: Breast Cancer and Domestic Abuse. My Great Aunt Shirley is a survivor of breast cancer and my sister is a survivor of domestic abuse. So it has a double meaning for me!
  • Ophelia Pumpkin – I actually got the idea to do this after seeing it in the magazine Country Living and I guess I loved the idea so much that I ended up just doing it!
  • The Punk-y Pumpkin – This one is an older post, when we didn’t have anything for our crafts yet. However we made do with a least used nail polish and a tub of silver glitter!

I am sorry that these are the only ideas I have on my blog, I actually have more but they don’t have any good photos and I’m pretty sure my writing in general is down right awful so if you want to check the rest out, go to my search box on the top right and put in “pumpkins” and it should give you all of the posts, plus a few other Halloween inspired crafts too!

Hope you have enjoyed this post!

Top 5 Crushes | WOMEN

sept

This is another prompt I got from the Safe Haven: Annoymous Letters website! I thought I’d split up my lists because I actually have more of a list on the women’s side, the males are a bit difficult because I sort of change my interests for them. Every actor, model and/or musician has been in and out of the list multiple times in the past. So I’m going to leave them for later, and I’ll talk about my female crushes first!

Funny story before I start on this, I put up on my Facebook the other day that I was going to do a Top 5 Crushes post and I wanted to know everybody else’s “celebrity” crush! I had them respond with a gif only and it was pretty funny and interesting to see who everybody liked, some were expected but some weren’t. For anybody who decides to do this on their Facebook, it’s better to put the word “celebrity” in front of crush or else somebody that isn’t family and remembers who you liked in high school just puts his name in the comments. I haven’t felt that red in my face in a long time!

giphy2

Megan Fox – American

Here’s a good one, I was one of those people who did not see Megan Fox beautifulness until I was actually forced to see Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen in theaters. I know that whole sentence probably blew your mind, because I am a HUGE fan of the Transformers films but I will admit that I saw this first and kind of fell in love with it obviously.

I try not to see Megan as this sex symbol in every movie I watch, but that has always been a struggle with me because once I saw her in this, I was like every other guy and basically would faint at the sight of her. I’m happy to say that it didn’t die out when she married and started having kids.

giphy1

Phoebe Tonkin – Australian

Before she went on to star on both The Vampire Diaries in 2012, Phoebe was on the other CW show called The Secret Circle and they only had one season and it was the show I was not only introduced to Phoebe but Britt Robertson as well. I was sad when it got cancelled, but when she appeared on TVD as a werewolf and eventually moving on to The Originals as a full on bad ass character I was so happy!

Apparently I’m more into Australian women than men, well besides the Hemsworth brothers! Between her, Teresa Palmer and Margot Robbie, the Aussie blondes are so good looking! And yes, Phoebe is naturally a blonde, even though I do like her more as a brunette!

giphy

Marion Cotillard – French

The same year I saw the Transformers movie, the week after we went to see Public Enemies starring both Johnny Depp and this beauty Marion Cotillard! I’ve always secretly loved her! Those blue eyes and brown hair, she has this old Hollywood glam to her that I just love seeing back on the screen! I literally have the war film Allied on my DVR for my dad, but really it’s for me because the more I see her in different films I have to watch them!

nxd7rl5

Natalie Dormer – British

These next two literally do NOT change out of their spots! They have always went back and forth between one and two!

I’ve known about Natalie Dormer since watching Rush, yes that was the first ever film I ever saw her in. If you’ve seen that movie, now you know why she’s so high up the list! Anyways, I try to watch anything with her in it. I’m REALLY behind of course! I love her both as a blonde and brunette! I think she looks more like a bad ass with her dark hair, she also looks very mysterious with it. Whenever she’s blonde though, she tends to show off her softer side and I tend to think of her as the next Lauren Bacall.

tumblr_inline_mqk6qdsmr21qz4rgp

Kate Beckinsale – British

Kate is my #1 favorite women! She’s just so flipping sexy! I find it odd that I’ve only really seen her as Selene in the Underworld series though! It’s actually difficult to find her in a film that I’ll actually watch. I’m very picky when it comes to films despite the fact that I have a crushes on these actors and actresses, sometimes I’m not willing to watch certain movies with them in it. For an example, I tried watching Natalie Dormer in the film The Forest and I really did attempt to watch it twice, but could not get myself to feel comfortable watching it! So I either need to suck it up or be okay with the fact I might never see another movie with Kate in it.

If this list isn’t enough for you, I do love Cate Blanchett, Katheryn Winnick, Rose Leslie, Georgia Hirst, Elsa Pataky, Gal Gadot, Miranda Kerr, Hayden Panettiere, and Margot Robbie. As you can tell, I have a lot of actresses I only just realized this, but I’m pretty sure the guys will be about the same and maybe a couple of musicians here and there. I’ll get started on that post soon!

Do you have any women crushes? I mean, it is WEDNESDAY for crying out loud, tell me some of yours!

DIY: Painting Pumpkins!

banner

Howdy!

I actually have a new Halloween/pumpkin craft for you! I am so excited! So I guess I should explain why I didn’t think I’d ever do a craft again and how exactly we got these pumpkins.

My poor nana and I, we really loved doing our crafts, and we got in such a system to do them every September so the posts I’d write of them would go up sometime later that month or early October. They were basically everybody’s favorite thing to read during those two months and I always had a lot of writing them up, while trying to remember what all we did, spills and all! So when she went to the hospital and eventually went to stay at the nursing home, I kind of didn’t want to admit it but I knew my days of doing our Halloween or any crafts weren’t going to happen as much.

I have a creative soul and I’ve been hating the fact that I’ve had to basically shut down those desires and saying that makes me laugh because I hated painting in school. I’ve had these urges to purchase some paints since the end of August because it would be that time of the year where we’d be getting ready and so I’ve been really sad. My mom doesn’t carry the craft bug and you all should know about my dad by now! I also didn’t want to ask Blondie and Brandon because I didn’t know if they really wanted to do anything like that or had the time to do it. So I’m just kind of left to do nothing and it really sucks!

And then one evening my mom came into my bedroom, I had thought she had went to bed about a half hour before so it freaked me out at first. She came in to tell me that we’ll have to get me some paints because dad found some pumpkins out in the field and I was instantly happy! He literally brought home like seven of these large pumpkins and they sat on our porch for like a week or so, and then one morning my mom came in again and she said that Blondie and Brandon were coming over to paint the pumpkins. According to mom, it wasn’t even Blondie’s idea, it was Brandon’s! Poor guy had to work that day but he still wanted to paint pumpkins afterwards!

What you will need for this:

  • Pumpkins
  • Old newspapers
  • Paper plates
  • Toilet Paper Roll
  • Water Bowl
  • Paints
  • Brushes
  • aaand some ideas ahead of time!

We started out doing this outside because that would have been a smart choice or so we thought! I have to say, it wasn’t too bad sitting outside on the porch but the bugs were driving us nuts throughout the time we were out there. Poor Blondie was covered in mosquito bites, mostly on her right side – she had a total of 12 bites!

Now when I do this with my nana I am usually sitting in my wheelchair and use a chair or box to prop the pumpkin up to a certain level so I can reach it on all sides. Well, I didn’t have any of those for this so mom just had Brandon put me on the ground and I will admit it had been a while since I did that because it is so difficult to get me back up since I am so low. However, it did make things a lot easier for me but I definitely forgot about my legs and feet falling asleep every ten minutes! So I had some issues with gripping my brushes and figuring out how to sit again.

If anybody noticed the last bullet, the three of us were having a tough time figuring out ideas to paint our pumpkins. The only idea that I knew I really wanted to do was a minion. I am obsessed with these characters and yet, I have not seen them on a movie! I like to think of them of little Twinkies! So I had a rough idea on how to make one, I also had references considering I was still in my pajama bottoms with them on it. This time, I knew I had them on and didn’t do what I did with Brandon’s Christmas gift bag last year! Over the years of doing these crafts, I’ve learned to relax and not be such a perfectionist while working on these different characters. Poor Blondie hasn’t mastered that and was really giving herself a tough time with her sugar skull. I think it looked awesome but of course she was growing to hate it as she was finishing it. I’m glad I’m no longer like that anymore!

It had actually become a sort of game for both Blondie and Brandon because they definitely didn’t have any ideas to do for their pumpkins so they went on Pinterest and that’s where Blondie found hers. I still don’t know if Brandon used Pinterest but we were having the most difficult time guessing what his could be. He was not telling anyone and it even started to bother dad after he got up and looked at all three of us and our big mess! He finally had to tell us or maybe Blondie actually guessed it? I don’t remember how it came about, but I did catch a glimpse of it on his phone when he went inside for something but I will admit I had no idea what the hell he was making, all he said was it was a DC character and it wasn’t The Flash. Dad kept saying it was either Ant-Man or Iron Man, but we were all stumped. It is Red Hood, all he gave us as a hint was that he was once a Robin.

After we had finished our first pumpkins, we were thinking of stopping altogether but Brandon wanted to continue. He cracks me up sometimes! So dad made the suggestion of moving our stuff into the kitchen. So we packed up everything and moved into the center of our kitchen, the cats were confused because we were at the door but not paying attention to them. They actually never came up to the front porch to investigate, which was probably good or else some would have ended up with different colored paws and we would have little paw prints up and down the porch! As cute that would have been, they wouldn’t let us clean their little toes!

Anyways, we got started on our second batch of pumpkins. What was different for me in this round was that I had two ideas but only memories of what they looked like on Pinterest. I didn’t make any real reference like I had for my minions, so I just had to wing it and this was where I like not being a perfectionist. I decided to do a Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas and I have to say, I did a fairly good job on it. I was very proud! I also put the word “Boo” on the back of it in a baby blue because I kept seeing it in the corner of my eye and I thought, what the hell? This one will hopefully go to my Aunt Cindy soon, if we don’t get any more rain beforehand!

Blondie made a very cute Nemo from Finding Nemo and it is genuinely the cutest thing, I kind of like it more than her sugar skull and you guys know how much I like my skulls! Poor Brandon though, he tried doing the Greek lettering of his fraternity but couldn’t get it to turn out right so he ended up covering it up with an old school American flag. You have to give the boy some props for trying it out though!

After a good two or three hours in two different spots, we were finally done! Well, technically there’s still one naked pumpkin left but it’s sort of big so nobody may paint him. Blondie and Brandon took pictures with their pumpkins and when she came back inside with my minion to take mine, I realized I forgot to paint a mouth on my minion so Brandon being a good boy, he took two brushes of black and white and made him a cute little mouth for me!

What are some of your favorite ways to decorate a pumpkin? Do you carve it, paint, or use sharpies?

Album Review: “The Stories We Tell Ourselves” by Nothing More

18766020_10155371710959287_3595486704059865356_nWhen I decided to review this album by the band Nothing More, I just figured it would be with the standard 12 track setlist and I’d get through it fine and dandy. Well, the day it came out and I saw the exact amount of songs it actually included almost talked me out of it. The only reason why I voted against myself is because I wanted to listen to it and not just hear the singles throughout the rest of the year and beginning of 2018 on the radio, so I figured I would suck it up and do the review no matter what!

The alternative metal band Nothing More has been creating music since 2004. The members are Johnny Hawkins, Mark Vollelunga, Daniel Oliver, and Ben Anderson. They had released two albums but they have been growing in popularity after the release of their hit “This Is The Time (Ballast)” in 2014 and I really began to keep an eye out for their newer stuff but I haven’t actually listened to the other albums. This is my first one!

Everybody knows how much I like little introductions or skits as they’ve been called in the past. Several artists and bands put them in front of a song or batch of songs to start a certain theme. Swedish singer Tove Lo has done this before, especially on her first record “Queen Of The Clouds” so I find it very interesting whenever metal and rock bands do the same thing, it kind of gives the album a different edge to it. So we’re starting with the first intro track called, “Ambition, Destruction” which sounds interesting doesn’t it? It’s very static-y and you can hear a faint scream sort of build before it stops and the actual first song starts and this is “Do You Really Want It?” and I really like the lyrics and meaning of it. It’s true, if we really want to change something we have to do something about it. It has a great sound, very heavy and could be a great workout song! Second track is “Convict, Divide” and you can hear an older men speaking and it sounds like an old tape of a lecture. After we begin the second song “Let ’em Burn” and it has the same tone of the skit playing before, the beat itself is pretty tame despite the very rushed vibe you have before the choruses, but I like it.

Third song is “Ripping Me Apart” and this has a true rock and roll feel to it in the beginning, I loved the gritty guitar strumming through my headphones. It’s nothing but that and Johnny’s vocals in the first parts of the verse before it breaks and the rest of the band joins in, this continues for the second verse as well! I like it, it’s smooth and explosive at the same time! I think it could be one of my favorites!  And next is “Don’t Stop” a song that came out with another track in early June, I don’t think this one has been played as much as the other but I like it just as much! I like the electronica vibe it gives off in the beginning, very much an alternative angle that I love a lot! I also like hearing the bass guitar, sometimes it can be hard to spot in the fast paced songs that we all love so it’s nice to clearly hear it every once in a while! “Funny Little Creatures” is just a funny thing to say out loud, but when I first saw it I had figured out the meaning of it. It’s playing on the idea of our demons and running away from them or so I got when listening to it. I like the lightness of the sound, it’s not too chaotic but it spiral feeling you get while you listen to it. It’s good!

Now we’re back on the skit train with “React, Respond” and again, you hear this static-y voice and this old man is back. This is actually longer than the previous ones, so you have the lecturer and the soft music in the background. It’s kind of interesting to hear this piece together. Once it’s over, you have the next song and it’s called “The Great Divorce” and again, it has a great alternative sound that I feel like I haven’t heard much in this album. It’s soft like the skit, but not as quiet. Surprisingly, I go back and forth whether I like it, because I just like the softer moments and wish it was like that throughout. I really like the section of the bridge, it’s very echo-y and almost dreamlike, it does build in tempo but it’s not annoying. So I’m pretty conflicted by it really. Next is “Still In Love” which sounds about right, considering titles alone. This also has a calming beginning, like you’re drifting out in the sky. I have the weirdest metaphors sometimes! I like this though, it’s very sweet. It has a nice sound, mellow and almost pop-rock. How many people will freak out that I just said that?

We have another skit called, “Alone, Together” and after the last one I’m glad it has a softer tone. I like the melancholy sound of the orchestra in the background, but considering what is after it is the perfect balance. We have “Go To War” now and it has been everybody’s new favorite (mine included!) and it’s heavy and commending. Ahh, it’s the perfect rock song honestly! Next is “Just Say When” and it’s surprisingly a ballad. You have the acoustic guitar and string sections coming in clear as day and it’s actually very pretty; totally not what I was expecting to hear after such a banger of a song before. We move on to “Accept, Disconnect” and we have another beautiful guitar, just strumming by itself and I just liked the “alone-ness” vibe you have of Mark but then towards the end you have that same lecturer speaking but it’s faint and goes in and out, before the next track starts up. “Who We Are” has become another favorite of mine. The moment this song was put up on Spotify, I haven’t stopped listening to it. I like the meaning of it a little more, I think it’s the perfect finish to all of these skits.

We’re on the last ones, starting with “Tunnels” and this was another shocker as it’s soft but the tempo has more of a pop-rock feel to it. Honestly, I didn’t really like it. I just didn’t mesh well with it like I figured I would because it’s a little bit boring. Next is our last skit of the album, called “End; Begin” and I thought seemed interesting in a way, because this could also be a metaphor for something else entirely, but I could be playing into the title a little bit. It has the previous song faintly turning into a game boy tune. Now that I think about it, that sounds appropriate for this type of thing but again we have that same dude speaking. I’d love to know if I’m right and it’s Sigmund Frued but I could be wrong. Anyways, the last song is “Fadein, Fadeout” and it’s the longest song out of the whole thing, over six minutes long. It’s pretty tame, not at all like I figured, but then again I actually like the lyrics. What is with me today? The words saved it I think; honestly though it is good all around so I don’t think it needed saving.

This album was very good. I liked the stories in the lyrics themselves. I was very surprised but also very proud of myself for getting through the entire album. I really committed to it, but honestly I just wanted to hear what the next one sounded and that actually helps the reviewing process! I definitely don’t want to do another deluxe like album again, but if they are as good as this, I might make an exception!

What do you think of Nothing More’s new album “The Stories We Tell Ourselves”? Do you have any favorite songs? Let me know!
