Movies I Want To See In 2016 | First Half

movies

One of the things I mostly get excited for is the new movies that are coming out! I usually never go out to the theaters or anything, but it’s the build-up of these new films and your favorite actors/actresses playing these characters that really excite me! After 2014’s flop of new movies I had seen, I really wanted to watch as many as I could in 2015, plus any specials like Flesh And Bone on Starz and documentaries like Sinatra: All Or Nothing and Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck on HBO. I was pretty proud on what I allowed myself to watch and be dedicated for a couple of hours.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to watch all of the movies I looked forward to seeing in 2015. I still like to hold out and maybe they’ll turn up on some of our movie channels. I finally got to watch The Avengers: Age Of Ultorn on Starz. They premiered it on January 22nd! I’m hoping Starz or HBO airs Age Of Adaline so I don’t have to ask anybody to rent it out for me. What am I doing? This post is supposed to be about the films coming out this year! Since I loved doing these posts last year, I’ve decided to separate them out in equal parts. This will be for the ones being released in January to June 2016!

Dirty Grandpa (January 22nd) starring Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, and Julienne Hough

I don’t know how my sister would be so lucky to get a Zac Efron movie to come out on her birthday, but oh well! I saw a picture advertising this new film on Facebook. Julienne Hough had posted a picture and a little bit about her character. It wasn’t until like two days later that I found the trailer while on YouTube and I realized how bad I wanted to see this! I think it’s going to be very strange Robert De Niro playing such a flirt with Zac Efron, but that’s just me!

The Choice (February 5th) starring Benjamin Walker and Teresa Palmer

I’ll be honest, I watched the trailer for this and I was really turned off by the concept of this story. Maybe it’s because I don’t believe in love at first sight. I think I’ve also watched my fair share of Nicholas Sparks inspired films that I’m just over it. I just want to watch it because it has Teresa Palmer in it!

Deadpool (February 12th) starring Ryan Renyolds and Morena Baccarin

Everybody has had this movie on their lists since the beginning of last year. I’m still confused though, I thought Deadpool was a villain. I mean has anybody else seen Wolverine: Origins before? He and Wolverine have at it towards the end… I think this film will be a mixture of funny and lots of action, which I love the most!

Fun fact: If I watch this, it’ll be my first movie I’ve watched with Ryan Reynolds in it!

Triple 9 (February 26th) starring Aaron Paul, Woody Harrelson, Norman Reedmus, and Kate Winslet

This is another movie I found by chance. I kind of fell in love with the trailer because it’s not about superheros or romance, it’s that “real” action and story line to it. I just want to see a movie with Norman Reedmus in it. I just want to see this guy act without all of the zombies, don’t judge me! It does look really good though!

Zootopia (March 4th) starring Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman

You can thank my friend Brittany for putting the trailer of this one on my Facebook the other day, I hadn’t even heard of it and of course now I want to see it! It just looks so cute! I’m not a big fan of sloths, but this trailer just cracked me up! I would be acting the same way that little bunny Judy was if somebody talked to me that slow!

Allegiant (March 18th) starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Miles Teller

I’ve officially caught up on these movies! Thank god! I’m really curious about the next stage of the storyline for Four and Tris. I want to know about what’s outside of the Wall and what are Evelyn’s intentions now that Jeannie is gone. I’m hoping this answers some questions for me, but I am super excited for the next installment to come out!

Superman vs. Batman: Dawn of Justice (March 25th) starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Even Peters, and Gal Gadot

I feel like I should have ended this list right here, because my excitement for this sucker is bigger than anything else! I honestly haven’t watched Man Of Steel since the end of 2014 because it effected me so much but I am really looking forward to seeing this purely because I want to see Ben Affleck prove EVERYBODY wrong as his role as Batman. Plus, Gal Gadot is playing “Wonder Woman” YES PLEASE! ♥

The Huntsman: Winters War (April 22nd) starring Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Emily Blunt, and Jessica Chastain

This is another one that has me all confused but apparently not enough that I didn’t leave it off the list! I have to say I loved Snow White and The Huntsman a lot! Mostly because of Charlize Theron playing this dark, evil character. Now I got two of them: Charlize and Emily Blunt. Two of my woman crushes in one movie, and on top of that you got Chris Hemsworth back playing the Huntsman. We finally get to see his character before he was sent off to find Snow White and what happened to his wife in the process. I don’t know if it’s a pre-squeal or not, I’m just excited!

Captain America: Civil War (May 6th) starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, and Scarlett Johannson

Time for a little Captain America/Iron Man action! I’m so freaking excited to see this movie! I’ll be wearing my Captain America shirt with pride the opening weekend. I can’t say anything else about this one!

X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27th) starring  James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender,  and Jennifer Lawrence

I’m really curious about this installment of the X-Men series! We finally get to see some of our favorites as younger/trying to learn to control their powers like Storm and Jean! I’m really stoked about the fact that Jubilee is being featured in the movie! When I was younger, I used to watch the cartoon episodes on Boomarang and she was my favorite character outside of Charles and Storm!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (June 3rd) starring Megan Fox, Will Arnett, and Stephan Arnell

The first film was amazingly good, like I’m being serious! It was also the movie my sister and I went to see in theaters. I’m pretty sure this was my choice because if Blondie had chosen it would have been a scary movie and I would have killed it even before the ending! Before this, I hadn’t been out to the movies since 2012. We weren’t raised on X-Men, TMNT, etc growing up. So we weren’t familiar with the franchise as everybody else.

Since we enjoyed the first film so much we’re actually looking forward to this next installment. I’m pretty sure we’ll be adding Brandon into our movie date, but that’s okay with me because he’s the one who sent the trailer to me! I didn’t even know that it was out yet. He sent it to me with a caption saying “The Flash is in it!” And you all think I’m superhero obsessed!!

Finding Dory (June 17th) starring Ellen DeGenres, Diane Keaton, and Ty Burrell

I loved Finding Nemo so much!! It’s such a cute, sad movie. I’ve seen those theories all over Facebook about the backstory of Nemo’s dad and Dory, but nonetheless it’s still adorable! Now that Dory’s getting her own movie, I’m a bit in the middle as I doubt it’ll stand up to Finding Nemo’s success but you never know!

Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24th) starring Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch, and Liam Hemsworth

This is also another film I’m feeling iffy about as I grew up with the original. My mom tried to save herself from what happened when I watched Men In Black the first time. Let’s just say between the both of them, I was not a fan of aliens. I still cringe at certain scenes in both films! I am glad that Jeff and Judd are back in the reboot, but would it better with Will Smith? Absolutely! Can I settle for Liam Hemsworth instead? Why did I just ask myself that question when I already know the answer? 😀

What are some of the movies you’re looking forward to seeing in the first six months of 2016?

OOTD: Turquoise

12647224_10201085940308749_7885514890212265548_n

Hey guys!

I haven’t been doing a lot of OOTD posts lately. This is mostly because it is winter in the where I live and we actually just got over Blizzard Jonas, we got the smaller part of it I think. We only got about three inches of snow. Which isn’t that bad, but considering we were supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow over a two day period and we only had one day! I’m not complaining on the amount of snow we got though, because I know our winter isn’t over and NYC’s amount scares the living shit out of me!

I have been out and about, I just keep forgetting to ask my mom for a picture of my outfit. Also, whenever we come home from the dentist I’m usually too exhausted to do anything else but take a nap that creating, editing, and scheduling a blog post for the next day  is just not important to me! So I hope you all will forgive me! My nana was originally supposed to take my picture for this post, but I forgot to remind her so my mom had to take them when we got home and it felt so good outside that we got to do them in the yard and visit with the cats a bit too!

If you remember, I’ve actually worn these leggings before and said I might do a OOTD post with my turquoise shirt. I remembered wearing the leggings, but the color of shirt was a bit fuzzy in my mind. My mom actually took the other outfit so knowing I haven’t talked about this version makes me happy and I can stop worrying about it now! My other post is here! I’ve actually had the turquoise shirt longer than the ivory shirt. Turquoise is very bright on me. I’ve only ever had two shirts in this color in my whole life! This shirt is just a solid, cotton shirt from Walmart years ago! It actually does match my leggings! I’ve wanted to find a big fiery orange necklace to go with it, so it would go with it too! It would be a nice finish to the whole thing!

Sorry about the socks by the way! I tried to take them off but I couldn’t tell when she was taking the pictures so that’s why the right foot is still covered, but since you’ve already seen the pants it’s not like it’s a big deal, right? Funny story, my mom couldn’t find a pair of socks in my room that went together, so I ended up with mis-matched socks so there’s another good thing about it!

So what do you think of this outfit? Which color do you like better? Turquoise or ivory with these leggings?

How I Take My Pictures!

004.jpg

Hey guys!

I’m doing something kind of cool today! For starters, tonight I hosted the #USBloggerChat on Twitter, the theme was “Props For Photography” after I need a little more time to come up with good questions for the food theme that some of the girls wanted me to do a couple of weeks ago! I just thought I’d come up with a few questions for the chat and make up a post including those exact questions like I always do, but then I started thinking about it more and more, before long I decided to create one big post about the same subject!

I’ve always tried to use my own pictures, but sometimes I’ve had to use my families photos such as my mom and sister’s mostly. If I use anybody else’s pictures I usually try to ask beforehand and/or add the link below. I was using my phone to take my pictures a couple of years ago, but then they kept getting smaller and then Facebook took away their mobile email thingy and I couldn’t upload them anymore. So I started looking for another way to take pictures because even doing them from my phone were fun! It’s easy to hold my phone and snap a few with my toes, but I’ve tried to hold and take pictures on a smartphone before and it took me literally five minutes for one picture! So I knew that wouldn’t work. I’ve actually had a digital camera, same color as my sister’s, but a freak accident occurred after the graduation ceremony was over with and I was trying to pass it to somebody else to take it for us and it dropped to the concrete and shattered to pieces. My folks have never let me down from that experience.

So I have my own reasons to be nervous on owning a camera. I’ve always been curious about getting another one and seeing what all I could do with that. When my sister gave me her old digital camera last January, I was very excited to learn this new challenge! I thought with my weird feet I wouldn’t be able to balance it correctly, but as I kept experimenting with it, I found out that my right foot is perfect for balance and different angles! I have a total of three ways to stabilize my camera on that foot.  For once, my feet make a good team when they want to!

I’ve listed the questions below, I won’t answer all of them especially since my real answers will be on Twitter anyways! I think I’ll only explain three out of seven questions more in-depth of how I do them.

I have a total of 12 props, but in a way I think there’s more because I forgot about my flowers too! I’ve recently been using bandanas as a different textural element and pop of color to the pictures. I mostly use darker colors like purple, blue, but use a dark shade of orange or green for anything other than black. Sorry for the lack of items to use as examples! I only have my speaker remote and flowers nearby!

Both photos featured on my Music Haul | Rock & EDM post!

003

I like to use about anything, boxes to towels! That’s what my nana and I had to work with until last October when we got the foam board. I did not think a foam board would be an excellent background for pictures, but it is! The original size was I think $7.64 for 11″ x 14″ it was really big and a small section of it was cut to make a stand and exclamation point for my Boo! Sign my Aunt Laurie, Uncle Mike and I made for Halloween! It was recently cut in the middle so that I had a piece at home and the other is in my nana’s kitchen if we need it!

I also have two shiny cardboard sheets that came inside the boxes of my grandparent’s meals. I told you! You can virtually use anything that shows up good on your camera! They take up less space than the foam board too! However, for different items the sheets reflect every bright light in slight and makes the picture seem a lot brighter than it needs to be, so that’s why I hardly ever use them!

Example:

This picture was taken on the cardboard sheets. I think with or without a flash on your camera (and I tend to keep mine on!) makes the item look blurry, the outside areas are too white and it’s not all that pretty!

I’ve stopped using PicMonkey for the time being but I would probably use a different filter to offset the brightness a bit.

013

This one was taken on the foam board, despite the scratches on it, it’s less bright around the flowers. It doesn’t allow the brightness of the flash to ricochet off each other. You can see different details of the flowers and their stems better like this.

026

I have created an easy backdrop for my photos. Technically I didn’t make it, my dad did! It was made after the idea came into my brain one late sleepless night! I imagined it a little differently than the way he made it, but it still works!

It’s made out of old cardboard scraps I had after my old velvet posters and duct tape! No nails! No glue! Nothing! The best way to describe it is like a pop up inside a book! When you turn the page it unfolds as it stretches. Originally it was like that, it had three parts holding the backdrop straight up and titled back a bit. However, it kept coming undone so after figuring out that it didn’t need the bottom part I took it off (it was already falling off) and letting the two sides in the back hold it up. All you do is open it like a book in the back and it sits up right. It’s actually better than I imagined it, I’m not going to lie! My dad did a pretty good job!

002003020

I hope you have enjoyed this post and the chat if you were a part of it! This was fun putting together! Now let’s get into the question shall we?

1.) What kind of camera do you have? What is your favorite feature on it?

2.) How many props and backdrops do you normally use in your photos?

3.) What are some inexpensive props an up and coming blogger can use?

4.) White or colorful backgrounds?

5.) Have you ever made a specific prop or backdrop for your photos?

6.) Strange question, what is your favorite angle?

7.) What kind of apps do you use to edit your pictures?

REVIEW | The Vampire Diaries (Mid) Season 7

WARNING: Spoilers below! Read with caution!

I love doing reviews, especially on my favorite shows! I’ve been thinking about doing a mid-season review on TVD since it went off for Thanksgiving break. I know a lot of you guys haven’t been watching it and I feel like you should give it another shot. This season alone–in my opinion–has been one of the most interesting seasons since probably two and three! We’re on seven if anybody is lost! I feel I’ve seen a lot of people stop watching the show around season four, which is understandable. I thought I’d stop during season five, but I didn’t. Thank god!

This season, even without our beloved Elena, has been an emotionally roller coaster ride that just keeps getting better and better! If you watched last season but decided to stop watching it because there’s no more Delena scenes and the show would just decline without her? Well, if it does that, it’s your fault because the writing for each episode has been awesome!

I have had my fair of doubts for the season as a whole and the new characters, like these new heretics. For one thing, I like these heretics a lot than I liked Kai. As a fan from the very beginning and wondering about Mama Salvatore, I couldn’t picture her becoming a vampire! Well, I did, but not like this! Lillian Salvatore came back to Mystic Falls with a purpose to turn her baby Stefan’s humanity back on during the last bit of season six. What went from a beautiful moment between mother and son kind of shattered when she was more focused getting her family of crazies out of the 1904 prison world.

The heretics that come out with her are Beau, Mary Louise, Nora, Valerie and Malcolm. However, poor Malcolm after decades and six months spending his time in a cave in 1904, he dies at the hand of both Bonnie Bennett and Damon after Stefan and Caroline agree to surrender their beloved town to Lily and her heretics after Valerie, Nora, and Nora’s girlfriend Mary Louise start a fire and kill several citizens at the police ceremony for the new members. Matty blue eyes was saved from being killed by the girls and after letting go of their home and compelling the rest to move out as there was a “gas leak” to keep them safe. After Malcolm was killed, Caroline was taken hostage and tortured by all three girls and eventually let go but not without hearing more about Valerie and Stefan’s interesting past.

If you thought you were a die-hard Steroline fan, think again!! Stefan and Valerie had a very tasteful afternoon in the 1800s while Valerie was only just a witch that was rejected from her family. She became pregnant with Stefan’s child and the man that she came to check Stefan out at the fair as a request by Lily, found out about her pregnancy and that she had wrote to Stefan to meet him one night, he followed her and beat her until the child had died. That night as Lily gave her her blood to heal her wounds from Julian (a character you’ll grow to hate) she decided to take her life while taking a bath, what she didn’t know was that she’d turn herself into a vampire that night becoming the first heretic. Beau is a mute heretic, very powerful and Lily’s right hand man. Mary Louise and Nora are probably my favorite couple right now.

Aside from the heretics and Lily Salvatore, you also have the grieving Alaric, who’s not just mourning the loss of his wife Jo, but their twins. Bonnie and Damon spent the whole summer babysitting and doing a fairly bad job at it too! Alaric had been playing the drunkness very well, and has been on a secret mission to bring Jo back from the dead with a mysterious stone. Once they figure out they’ve been played, Bonnie thinks she’d got him talked into destroying it after finding out it’s been cursed with black magic. When Alaric finally gets Bonnie to do the spell on Jo, he is pleased but not happy for the outcome. However, Lily wants the stone for herself to resurrect her partner Julian. His soul is being kept inside the stone along with other vampires’ souls too. So Jo is not Jo, her real name is Florence. After two days in Jo’s body, it starts rejecting her. Decomposing as they all start to realize what has happened. Alaric is left with another dead end.

Caroline has been tagging along with Stefan, dealing with Nora and Mary Louise. And then finding out about Valerie’s child. She agrees not to tell Stefan, but as Valerie and Stefan have a moment to discuss things, she tells him which makes him want to kill Julian after Lily and the heretics resurrect him from inside the stone. Once Damon is told of it as well, he joins in. As the challenge of trying to kill a vampire who’s been locked up in a stone for years battling his own battles. Things seem easier said then done, but as for Caroline. Her life just got much more complicated.

Before we get into that next section, Candice Accola (now King) announced to the world that she was pregnant with her first child! She announced it I think maybe a month after production of the new season was underway, and I was very curious about how or if it would be incorporated into the story line. Well it is! If you watched the last episode of season six, you remember as Kai was busy killing Jo and the twins. The coven was chanting until every last one of them were dead? Well fast forward and poor Caroline had been feeling rather weird, even for a vampire in general! Valerie discovers the tape as Alaric had decided to watch it one evening, and she recognizes the chant. Everybody assumed it was a chant to stop Kai, but it wasn’t. It was a chant to save the babies. Their coven relies on these babies. So they transfer them from Jo’s body to the next best option. Caroline! The babies had cloaked themselves inside her belly to the normal eyes until Valerie took off their protection spell and she and Alaric found two little baby girls inside her belly!

What is even more puzzling about this season is that you have TWO story lines. You’ve got the present day concept which is what I’ve just explained above, but you’ve also the story of three years later where things are drastically different. A lot of it has caused some heartbreak and confusion among fans, but hoping we know more about the two years more in the next few months. Of course I’ve left out quite a few key pieces of the season, especially about Lily’s existence. I’m hoping I haven’t ruined your day by telling you about what’s going on, but no offense! You should be caught by now!

If you’ve been watching what are your favorite characters and episodes so far? How are you feeling about the switch from Thursday to Friday’s too?

The Rise of the French House Scene | A Guest Post by The Life of a Thinker

It all started with Daft Punk’s galactic, robotic synth-pop. Since then, artists such as David Guetta, Martin Solveig and Madeon have warped the French house scene. So, with that in mind, what’s next for this genre of music, and how has it evolved over the years?

First of all, we have to start with Daft Punk. At the moment, they have been relatively quiet with their music since the release of Random Access Memories in 2013 and the success of their track Get Lucky with Pharrell Williams. However, despite them lying low nowadays, the majority of French and international DJs admire their work (including Madeon – more on that later).

Aside from their choice of wearing masks when performing causing them to stand out, it was the duo’s (consisting of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo) fusion of electro and funk which was one of the setting stones for the French electronic genre.

Since then, other DJs have added to the industry. David Guetta’s album Nothing But the Beat (and subsequently the 2.0 version) was, in my opinion, the album which brought the French DJ to the spotlight. For example, his track Titanium not only brought Sia fame, but was also a successful electronic ballad (almost) which a lot of people still remember today. As well as that, their other single together, Falling to Pieces branches out more into dubstep, and his latest tracks including Hey Mama drift more into the hip-hop genre.

Finally, we have Madeon, who – admittedly – is my favourite DJ at the moment. Last year, he released his debut album, Adventure, which saw the musician (real name Hugo Leclercq) collaborate with the likes of Kyan, Dan Smith (from Bastille), Passion Pit and Mark Foster (from Foster the People).

In terms of his style, Hugo still gives a nod to one of the original artists from the French house scene. In tracks such as Cut the Kid, Ok and Pay No Mind, Madeon uses imaginative and flourishing melodies in an off-beat fashion which develops upon Daft Punk’s original style.

But, at the same time, Leclercq brings something fresh and exciting to the French dance music industry. If anything, as well as making links to other music styles within his music, his ability to creatively tell a story through his songs is impressive. In his track, Imperium, Hugo tries something different and almost branches out into dubstep. Meanwhile, in his collaboration with Bastille frontman Dan Smith, Leclercq almost mimics their alternative style of music and in You’re On, the track is an electronic take on the euphoric pop songs of today.

So, as we enter another year of music, perhaps French DJs are about to make their mark? In terms of the genre of music, could it see a merge between pop, alternative and dubstep? Comment your thoughts below!

EP Review: “Vintersjäl / Cold Outside” by Anette Olzon

12509169_483103871877555_7706914938034586530_n

I’ve been wondering why I love international music so much! Music overseas is sort of different than it is over here in the states. We’re not as open to different genres. I always look past that, I look for what kind of music they make, how they sound, etc. I’ve even gotten to the point where I’m fine with all the different languages. I may not understand a word they are saying, but since I only look at how the song sounds as a whole, it’s not a barrier as it is with others.

Anette Olzon has been a favorite of mine since 2012, I found the Nightwish album “Imaginearum” very interesting and her voice was beautiful, very angelic! And then she left the band and my first thought, “Oh no!” I started keeping up with her blog and listened to her debut album “Shine” as soon as it hit Spotify. I always look forward to the things she does, whether it’s music or not. She’s super friendly to her fans.

When she announced that she was releasing an EP of two versions of the same song, I was so unbelievably excited! The EP is called “Vintersjäl / Cold Outside” and it was released digitally, so it’s only on iTunes, Spotify, Tidal, and Amazon.

When it finally popped up on my Spotify, I was so happy! I immediately listened to the English version first, but after a couple of days I finally got a chance to hear the Swedish version and I’m not going to lie, I liked “Vintersjäl” better! Here’s the reason why: normally if a song has two versions of the same song, the beat isn’t that much different, but for this song it is! I found “Vintersjäl” to be a little more symphonic rock sounding. I remember a post she had wrote last year on her blog about writing a song in her native language, but she was afraid it sounded too corny than writing one in English. Ever since I read that I’ve always been curious of what she meant, because again I don’t know Swedish but I still loved it!

The English version is called “Cold Outside” and I found Anette’s voice so beautiful in this song, the lyrics and meaning of it are so good! The beat is like I said, different from the first. This one is like a mixture of pop-rock; it’s got some keyboards notes, that makes it more poppy but it has some good rock moments in too! I don’t want to say it has some electronica elements to it, because I’d feel too many would be scared by that. It does have an interesting vibe behind it.

Have you heard of Anette’s new EP yet? What are your thoughts about it?

12498510_10204044491472558_639801178_n

Hey guys!

Earlier this month, I had a dentist appointment. It was only a cleaning and I have to say, things went better than expected, like seriously! I was still pretty nervous about the whole thing, but since I knew what to expect (meaning the shots) I was actually a lot calmer. I didn’t react like I had when it was over, I even left my dad in the room! So far, nobody has told me that they like the shots! Even the woman who cleaned my own teeth said she didn’t like them either!

This time everything was fast paced, for one thing the medicine they had given me like the last time, worked a little better! I was way more relaxed than before, but I had also spent three hours awake I was already feeling sleepy on my own. This is was just making things that much better! Anyways, like I said things went by faster. We didn’t have to deal with the X-Rays and checking out each tooth on both sides. She still did that, but it wasn’t as intensive as before. I still had my iPod and headphones on, even though I could barely hear it. I did get through like five Evanescence songs, so I was good! I figured if I listened to any of my symphonic metal bands then they would basically relax me. In the last two times, I’ve almost fallen asleep on her because I wasn’t feeling anything and my medicine kicked in!

When my sister and I were kids, everytime we had doctor’s appointment, more importantly about our eyes or teeth. If we did very well then we were rewarded. Bribing 101 folks! Well apparently, this still works! I was already in talks with my dad about him taking me to the Record Cellar there in town afterwards, but we weren’t going to decide anything until they figured out how I could deal with the numbness of my mouth and if I was exhausted or not.

I honestly don’t remember much of the appointment. When it was done I was still in good spirits. I had something to look forward to, I wasn’t going to let my emotions or tiredness stop me! So we left to go to this record cellar and I was very happy, because we were in a part of town that we rarely visit. It’s has the vibe of the old neighborhood before it expanded. There was a building that had old paint faded on the side, it was still readable. The shops were modern, but this was classic. The one bad thing about this place is that it’s not handicap accessible. However, we usually bring the push wheelchair with us and since it’s lightweight (even with my butt in it!) my parents could lift it up the two steps. I wasn’t necessarily prepared going into this place. My dreams didn’t even come close to the inside of this sucker!

When you first walk inside, it was like walking into Hot Topic at the mall every time we go; it felt like home to me. I was expecting to see more vinyls than CDs but in a way, I liked it better that way! My dad was busy most of the time talking to the owner while my poor mom pushed me through every corner of the store. The best way to describe the walls are what I hope I can do with my bedroom one day. Every open area of the place was covered with different posters of both classic rock bands like Nirvana, Motorhead, Motley Crue, I even saw a Purple Rain era poster on the ceiling! Of course you had the modern, popular bands and artists of today like Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Halestorm, and Linkin Park.

I wasn’t even looking at the CDs yet, I was too busy distracted at all these posters and seeing who all I recognized and then we found these wooden boxes full of CDs that I have to say were better categorized than Wal-Mart where they’re all over the place! They had them alphabetical and only in two groups “pop/rock” but they also had different areas for Jazz, Rap/Hip Hop, and the new releases. My mom and I were too busy in the back that I actually missed the new releases section!

The first CD I found was Eyes Set To Kill’s album “Masks” it came out in 2014 and I have to say, this album was so good! It was also $5.55 which was the cheapest one I bought! Second was In This Moment’s “Black Widow” and I think this was a “try again” deal. I did a review for this album when it came out in late 2014 and honestly didn’t love it as much as “Blood” but my cousin and I had talked about it while she was down for Christmas so I decided to buy it. I kind of regret that decision now. Last one was “Going To Hell” by The Pretty Reckless, this one and ESTK’s album I can listen from first to last without skipping. I also bought two other albums, but they had to be ordered. They were “Skrillex and Diplo Presents Jack Ü” by Jack Ü and then “Peace Is The Mission” by Major Lazer.

All in all, I spent $80 of my Christmas money at this place! My parents weren’t too surprised on that price considering they know my history! However, since I didn’t bring up this whole “go to record place after the dentist” until we were actually in the waiting room, so I didn’t bring my purse! Hence why I didn’t get a picture of that building when we were first there! So my dad had to pay for me, but I paid him back and I just gave him the whole $100 and he gave me $10 back. Now they’re saying “start saving up so you can go back.” It’s a good thing I agreed to teach my nana how to do her camera because I’ll be able to go back sooner than later! I’m already getting started on my next batch that I want. I’m thinking some more pop this time around; I will buy Adele’s album and do an album review!

Before we left, the owner gave us a Winter Sampler from RoadRunner Records. It’s got new tracks from Killswitch Engage, The Amity Affliction, and Wild Throne. We listened to it on the way home that day. My dad said he’s a little addicted to it, so if I find it missing in a couple of days I’ll know which parent has it. My mom’s supposed to get her subs and new radio put into her car soon. The new radio that my dad got her for Christmas, it doesn’t allow CDs so at least I won’t have to worry about her stealing my music anytime soon! When we went back to the dentist two days after the girl who cleaned my teeth asked if we went and when my mom said “yes and she spent $80” we all kind of laughed. I had a smirk on my face! I couldn’t help it. Well, I could but that wouldn’t be as fun!

Am I a crazy music fan or what? You can be honest! Is there any music you think I should get as a “curious” buy the next time I go?
