Tune Tuesday | England

ttworldwide15

I have to say last year I messed up dramatically when I went to do my England post. I didn’t necessarily have one in a way last year, I had a two week UK thing but that’s it! Leave it to me that I’d find out later on that I probably should have added both Ireland and Scotland musicans to it too! So I’m redeeming myself by doing an England tune Tuesday post. Since majority of my music is internationally based and quite a lot are from England that I figured I’d have a lot to chose from and I did! I had a total of three different acts. I wanted to do more, but I’m not doing the whole two weeks thing again no matter what!

I wanted to leave these two singers for my Femme Fatale TT edition, but when I decided to go ahead and start on this edition, So I figured since they’re both English ladies that they’d be perfect for this one. I’m starting on Natasha Bedingfield and Leona Lewis. I’ve been a fan of both of them since 2007. They have very different but beautiful voices! I still remember hearing Natasha’s first single “These Words” playing on the radio and since she has an unique voice my mom and I figured she was black. Sorry, but we did! My mom was really addicted to “Unwritten” and “Pocketful Full Of Sunshine” if either one played on the radio, she’d turn it up on full blast! One time we were at Wal-Mart, I was in my element – in the music department – and I saw her album “Strip Me” in the overwhelming rows of CDs and I was only allowed to get one CD and even though I had only heard of her title track on the radio, I still bought it! It took me maybe six months to get myself to listen to the whole thing. It’s actually pretty great I will not lie! My favorites are “Neon Lights,” “Weightless,” and “Touch.”

Now for Leona Lewis, I didn’t know that she was a contestant and won The X Factor when I heard her first single “Bleeding Love” but I also didn’t hear it on the radio! I actually watched the music video for it first and that never happens anymore! I was pretty addicted to the song when radio stations did start to play it on air! Almost all of my friends were into it! She has an amazing voice! Very powerful! It’s taking me a few years to finally be able to hit some of her high notes. Especially the big one on her song on “Happy” that took me four years to finally get but it was worth it! Moving on a little bit, eScala is a group of mucisians that don’t sing! They are an electric string quartet and members are Victoria Lyon and Honor Watson are violinists, Helen Nash plays the cello, and I’m going by what’s on their Facebook account and Stephanie Benedetti must be new and she might play the viola. They were on a TV show over in England called Britain’s Got Talent but didn’t win. They released their first album in 2009 and I’ve been on the eScala train since then!

 Bleeding Love – Leona Lewis

Happy – Leona Lewis

These Words – Natasha Bedingfield

Tough – Natasha Bedingfield

Kashmir – eScala

Palladio – eScala

OOTD: Day Out

Howdy!

I talked my mom into going out and doing something on her day off, which was Thursday. After two days, my mom finally told me we were going to Wal-Mart that is if it didn’t rain/storm on us. So I basically mentally prepared for the bad outcome because at that time, we’ve had a couple of good weather/sunny days. By the time Thursday was to show up, it would start raining again.  When I woke up that morning, my room was dark.  We had clouds everywhere and my mom had been looking at her weatherbug app since she got up and found there were chances of rain, so we ended up taking the push wheelchair. I swallowed my pride and agreed because I didn’t want to start an argument. There’s some good points to doing this and praying for a positive outcome if our plans were ruined that night before.

We rode in my mom’s car-truck, whatever you want to call it! I sat up in front with dad, as he was the one that usually drives whenever we go out. The goofballs just got into the car, put on their seatbelts, and got distracted by something on Batman’s back window. I didn’t want to sit in that car the whole time listening to 80’s music. Sorry, but I hear it enough when I go over to the barn and garage. So while they were busy looking away and dad had the A/C up so freaking high I quickly changed the station before they noticed. It literally took them maybe 10 minutes to figure out I had switched the station. The ride there was pretty boring, the surroundings were a little different though. We’ve had lots of rain lately so the river was up by the bridges and into the fields. When we got there, my parents joked about putting me in the cart. I seriously wanted to laugh my butt off! They think it’s difficult to lifting my ass in and out of the wheelchair, I’d be stuck inside that cart. We’d be pulling that sucker home! Oh god, I literally imagined it. My little redneck thought for the day!

My folks pushed me around the place. Normally I hate this, but this was our only option. Whenever we go shopping at Wal-Mart, I usually stand clear of their aisles, I say “their” when I’m mostly talking about dad’s aisles. The male inspired rows of knifes, bb guns, and grills glore! Being pushed around in these areas were a total buzz kill. However, when we went into the music department which is my sanctuary, became an even bigger let down for me. When both your laptop and stereo are not functioning well in the right places, finding and buying music isn’t that much fun. However, I almost did buy season three of Sons Of Anarchy. I still don’t know why we didn’t get it! It was $19.99 and that’s the lowest I’ve ever seen it! I also found Balto! My mom bought three movies for the residents at her work, who knows they might’ve liked it too! Of course I’d have to watch it a few times first before she took it up there.

There was something dumb that we did. We didn’t go eat first before we went in the food section. Bad, bad move there! When we entered the chip aisle. My dad and I quickly started feeling a lot more hungry than in the beginning of the trip. My mom grabbed like three cans of sour cream Pringles and my dad found a flavor we hadn’t tried before, which honestly there’s a LOT of flavors we haven’t had yet. This one was called “Kickin’ Chicken Taco” and it is delicious! It tastes like taco. Now here’s the deal. You know when you were a kid and you used to beg your parents, sometimes grandparents if you could get a drink, candy bar, or small of chips and eat it while you’re walking around and they always told you “no.” We used to get told that as kids, but my parents decided to be rebels and they both opened up the pringles cans. Sadly, I wasn’t any better because I had to try the taco chips with them! As we continue going through the sugar-y aisles and I will take the blame for this! I even got myself a bag of sour gummi worms! No I didn’t try them in the store! I was a good girl from that point on I promise!

I usually get yelled at during the week because my folks don’t know what to get me to eat. I’m very picky eater sometimes what can I say. I was very impressed with what I did get though! Some I’ve had and loved, and some I hope to like! Cross your fingers! We went into the spice aisle and I was doing what I do whenever I look through the CD section, start listing different ones. I watch too many freaking cooking TV shows during the week because I kept thinking of what dishes used: thyme leaves, chili powder, cumin, and turmeric. It was bad! After feeling like our stomachs were about to make more noise than the music that was playing through the intercom, my mom and I went through the clothes section. I’ll be honest. I’m a cheap fashion shopper. I would rather go to Wal-Mart and find something to wear than to the mall. I only spent $10 and all I got were two regular tops in turquoise and ivory. I have like seven pairs of leggings in my drawer and nothing in my closet that goes with them. The two shirts I got go nicely with one pair of leggings! Sounds like my luck! There were a lot of cute summer dresses and tank tops that I liked, but unfortunately I can’t wear either of them! My awkward shoulders alone wouldn’t make either one work, trust me! It took us probably 7 minutes just to find tops that weren’t V-necks. After that, we paid and went to Burger King. I got myself some chicken fries and they were pretty good I must say!

The next time, hopefully I get to the craft section. I need something to do during the week and I was hoping to get my dad on board about painting bird houses, letters or anything. Just something different from my normal routine. However, could you imagine the kittens getting into the paint? That would be something I’d have to do at my nana’s house and I don’t know if she can handle me with paint. She’s still afraid to put glitter in front of me! My dad said he was going to have a look at my SD card in my camera to see what I really need, because doing that today without knowing what I really needed was a disaster! Next time I’m just bringing things anyway!

So to end this, I had a lovely time with my goofy parents. My mom dressed me in my black and white skulls that have like a floral design inside of them. She found an old shirt of mine that surprisingly still fits over my arms! It’s purple and has a metallic design on the left side. I also wore my hair back with a headband because it’s at that awkward stage where it’s not long enough for a ponytail but not short enough to let back on its own. Here’s the outfit of the day! Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

Song Review: “Jekyll and Hyde” by Five Finger Death Punch

My dad got an early Father’s Day gift from me late last week.

On the 15th, I saw an article of a magazine premiering Five Finger Death Punch’s new song and of all days, my sound was not working on my laptop! I was pissed because I couldn’t listen to it but then again neither could my dad! I had been updating him on anything for the past few months. Thankfully, the next day Kayla Riley from Sirius XM Octane premiered it and I listened to it first and like a good, clever girl I recorded it for my dad through my DVR. Surprisingly, you can do this! I didn’t have any expectations of the song and I’m saying that as a good thing. When I heard the song, “Jekyll and Hyde” (the title alone sounds like a FFDP song!) I was so freaking happy! It sounds so badass! I feel like it will be everywhere, be great for any UFC or WWE specials going on this summer! After it ended, I immediately texted my dad and invited him into my room to hear it. He’s not like other people when they listen to new music, you can’t exactly tell if he likes a song as it’s playing, he hides it very well! However, towards the end I started hearing a slight tapping on my door mimicking the beat of the melody. He was liked it!

He finally said that was one of their best songs in a while and that he hopes the whole album was like that!

As much as I loved the song, but I can’t say I want the entire album to sound like that. I want songs to all have a different sound, basically a soul between them! Once he left the room, I had to say something about it on Facebook and he got several likes including a couple from his own friends! If you know what’s been going on with my iTunes, good. If you don’t, your loss because it’s a long story and I’m tired of telling it honestly. Anyways, it’s been messed up! My poor dad has been asking me for WEEKS for new CDs for his truck. We don’t have any of the FFDP albums on discs. I’ve downloaded them via iTunes for my iPod. Well, since it’s been messed up I didn’t know if I could burn him any more CDs. Luckily for him, I can! The laptop froze up twice and I had to restart the whole thing to get to work again after the first time, but he finally got his CD for his truck of some of his favorites plus the new track.

I had to make him the CD last Wednesday. I had put all of the songs onto a playlist for him so I could make it for him the next day, He kept driving me nuts so I caved and did it that night. We talked about how good the song was and then I explained to him that a lot of people were saying it sounded too mainstream, almost like it was made for radio play! Now I don’t believe that for a minute. If that was true, the sound of the entire thing wouldn’t be so brutal. And he agreed that there would be no way in hell the band would do it like that. The funny part of this conversation was the fact he kept confusing the word “mainstream” with “extreme” I guess I was speaking too fast for him, which happens when I talk about music in a general discussion. Don’t believe me, ask my nana, she’ll tell you I’m right! When I finally finished the CD, he stayed up while my mom went to bed and played it in the living room on full blast. I had headphones on and I was still singing along to the songs from the other room. I’m sure my mom wasn’t too happy with neither one of us. Even though I can’t put the song onto my iPod at the moment, I’m happy he’s got it for his truck!

Gotta wait until August for the whole album now!

So what do you think? Do you think the song is too mainstream or think everybody’s lost their damn mind?

Mixtape: 2009-2015

So I found a nice little prompt by Daily Post a few weeks ago. I saw it on somebody else’s blog but lost it and a few days later found it again but lost who originally did it… I suck at keeping track sometimes! At least I found the site where it came from though! Anyways the theme of this prompt is about music and you know I’ll do anything that’s music based! So I hope you enjoy and here is the prompt:

Put together a a musical playlist of songs that describe your life, including what you hope your future entails.

I’ve actually been tempted to do something similar on here. If I made a list of songs that describes my whole life, we’d be here forever and it’ll get boring fast. So I figured 2009 is a good time to start because that’s when my preferences in music started to evolve and I got into my rock and metal phase. As for the second part of the prompt, I hope I still love music and find different genres as exciting as I do right now. I also hope that musicians want to create different sounds so it doesn’t all sound the same as the others. I feel like that’s what I’m missing now that I’m in dance music, there’s hardly anything out there that feels unique. Now that I’ve said that, let’s start our little playlist from music I got into in 2009 to right now!

I’ll try to keep each year with only three videos so you don’t feel overwhelming, but I’m not promising anything! Back in 2009 I got in Linkin Park, Hollywood Undead, brokenCYDE, Skillet, and Within Temptation. I don’t know why but with every year, I have like four to five acts that I was hooked to all at the same time! This was the start of the very long road of discovering rock music and slowly getting into heavy metal in the process.

In 2010, I was going through a rough/turning point in my life. I was still heavy hooked to Linkin Park, but I had grown to like bands like Lacuna Coil, My Darkest Days, In This Moment, and Five Finger Death Punch too! From August to October of ’10 I don’t remember much in that time frame, but I do remember MDD being a very good distraction for me and Matt Walst sweet talked his way right into my heart.

Now this is where it gets a little fuzzy, because I don’t really remember how it got started… My sister had a boyfriend at the time who lived with his family in Italy. He went to a club because apparently youngsters can do that there and he saw Skrillex there. He messaged her and told her to go look him up on YouTube, she did and got majority of her friends in Skrillex. The only problem is I don’t know if I was already a fan before this happened, but at this time Skrillex had worked with the band Korn too! At this time, I got into Tiesto and Kaskade too!

Ahh, 2012 was the year were I thought the world was going to end! For some odd reason listening to bands like Nightwish were helpful in getting me to calm down about the world ending! At this time, I was also listening to Ellie Goulding and Flyleaf. I also got into Motley Crue too, this is what happens when you read two books by Mr. Sixx and discovered his second band Sixx:A.M. in the process!

You know, 2013 doesn’t seem that long ago! When I was a teenager, I had quite a few bands that I swore I’d never listen to. Ever. Well, I did. Korn started it off two years prior and then I got into more classic rock bands, then I started listening to Disturbed and Slipknot which surprised the shit out of me! I also got into Xandria and Epica at this time too! Towards the end I got into Banks and Zella Day!

To think 2014 was literally eight months ago is a little weird! I was listening to Of Mice & Men and Bring Me The Horizon for the heavy metal part, but then I jumped into Celtic Woman and Sarah Brightman. By July I had gotten into the One Direction craziness and that ruled for seven months straight.

Here we are at 2015, once February came around I got back into my dance music. I’ve been really into Diplo, Martin Garrix, Alesso, and DJ Snake lately!  I’m kind of hoping to get back into heavy metal towards the beginning of August  and I don’t know what genre I’ll get into next after that but it should be interesting!

NEXT WEEK!

amc

Howdy!

One more week will be Arothrogryposis Awareness Day! If you’ve never heard of the disease before, it is a joint disease that affects my upper and lower body. This is the reason for my curved arms and skinny legs and why I’m always complaining about my hips hurting all the time! Last year, it was the first time I ever celebrated the day by wearing blue and making some noise on all of my social media accounts. I don’t like tweeting celebrities a lot, but I did sent out quite a bit of tweets last year to try to get the word out about why they should wear anything blue. I even got my favorite Push Girl and inspiration Tiphany Adams and one of my favorite singers/bloggers Anette Olzon to wear blue on the day! Yes, I cried, but I think I cried so much because between spreading the word with my family I made up a blog post of all everybody wearing blue and it was so awesome! It made me feel good to know so many people cared and showed their support!

I’d like to get the word out as much as I can without it being too overwhelming. That’s why I waited this long before to start saying something, because too far along, people tend to forget and ask you all the time when the day is so the week before will hopefully prove to be better for everybody! I’d love to get more pictures to upload onto a blog post again, but since I was being self cautious about having my friends and families faces on my blog, I didn’t want strangers going and stealing their pictures you know? So I think this year I’m going to just crop everybody heads off their pictures so I can keep the post up all year long than just three days. I’m actually really excited about telling more people about Arthrogryposis and seeing people dress up in blue to support!

How can you join? Wear any shade of blue you got! I’ll even count jeans and painted fingernails! Hell, I don’t care if you dye your hair blue for the week! If you do that I swear I’ll love you forever and I’ll put the picture at the top of the post!! I’m not going to beg for you to join, you don’t have to. If you don’t want to or in some cases don’t own any blue in your closet, trust me I don’t even have a lot of blue in my own closet! I’m pretty sure I’ll be wearing my Elsa pajamas because that’s basically the only amount of blue I have left! I’ll be making little signs on both Facebook and Twitter so you just share those instead, I’ll understand I promise!

Love,
Meg(z)han.
