Top 4 Movies | Best Of 2014

I’m a crazy person, I really am! I forgot to do a favorite movies posts as part of my “Best Of” posts. Forgive me though when I say movies and books weren’t as big of a hit this year as I thought they would be. There were so many movies I actually wanted to see, but haven’t been able to! Since my mom decided to shorten the movie package, my dad and I haven’t been watching as many movies as we’d like, but I mean we have recorded Dallas Buyers Club and 12 Years A Slave that were up for Oscars this past year. I know they came out in late 2013, but do they still count? I’ve only been able to watch DBC and that still took a lot out of me to watch it. Dad did record I, Frankenstein and that one was pretty good. I still need to finish it, but really good otherwise!

The movies above are just a few of my favorites. They’re almost in the order except for the middle ones, they need to be switched around. All four movies I’ve actually looked forward to seeing throughout the year and then turned into favorites after finally seeing them. My dad watched The Legend Of Hercules before I did. It premiered just before mom got the package shortened. I thought the trailer for it was pretty corny, everything looked too CGI’d and that was another reason why I didn’t want to watch Pompeii either. I’m a HUGE history buff on both Pompeii and Greek mythology. I’ll be honest, yes the only reason I watched it was because of Kellan Lutz. There I said it. Here’s one better. I only watched That Awkward Moment for Zac Efron. Technically, my sister and I were supposed to see it in theaters and after I recorded it on my DVR, but plans changed and I watched it without her. I’m pretty sure she’s still got that text message that I sent to her at midnight saying, “Zac Efron needed to be more naked.” And he did.

I haven’t been back at the movie theaters since maybe 2012. That’s just a rough guess too. I don’t even remember the last movie I’ve seen in the theaters either. However, one day in July my sister decided to take me out on a girl’s day while our parents went on a last minute mini bike rally. Since it was in town and that it was going to be too cold, I didn’t need to go with them. So Blondie took me out to the movies and we saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and it wasn’t my first choice. I actually wanted to see Guardians Of The Galaxy instead. She had seen it though I think, so we saw this movie instead and I had forgotten the surround sound that only a movie theater can give you. It was AWESOME! I’m glad that Michael Bay brought back one of my favorite actresses, Megan Fox in his films. I was surprised that TMNT didn’t become a thing for me afterwards. Blondie said to me towards the end of it, “if that mouse dies, I’m going to cry.” I couldn’t help but laugh after she said that.

Lastly, one out of two movies with Shailene Woodley in it, Divergent just might be the last 2014 movie I’ll be seeing this year. I taped it over the weekend, I have been going through my guide daily now, searching for anything new. Of course now that Christmas is over, all of my favorite Christmas movies come out. I’ve been very excited for this movie. I’ve been listening to the soundtrack, score, and my love for Ellie Goulding might’ve gotten a little bit bigger before and after I watched it. I’ve never read the books. I’m still trying to get through The Fault In Our Stars by John Green, before I go ahead and watch the movie of it too. So not knowing ANYTHING about the books at all was nice. These post-apocalyptic world movies have been a little annoying lately, but I actually did love this one! In every movie you watch, you feel like there should be some changes here and there. Since I didn’t read the books, I can’t compare storylines, but I didn’t want to change anything about this movie. I loved it so much! I’ve already seen the trailer for the new one. I can’t wait to see that one too!

There are still quite a few more movies that came out this year that I still want to see. I had goals of seeing either Captain America: The Winter Soldier or X-Men: Days Of Future Past in theaters at the midnight premiere, but mom said no to both. And she wonders why I said that one will never go off my bucket list easily. Last night, after watching the Insurgent movie trailer, I decided to watched a few of the new movie coming out in 2015. Only three movies really made me want to see them. They are Woman In Gold, Still Alice, and The Longest Ride. All three of them could easily make me cry. I had a hard time keeping myself contained throughout watching each one. Of course I can’t forget about Fast & Furious 7 it doesn’t matter if they keep Brian O’Connor in the series or not, I’m still a big fan of the movies. Paul Walker would want us all FF fans there supporting the rest of the cast and crew. There was one movie that made me feel weird about, it’s called The Walk and it stars Joseph Gordon-Leavitt in it and the trailer has him standing on just a ledge on a very tall building, then the camera goes down the building at a fast pace. It’s going to be released in 3D, somebody going to have an anxiety attack or go into a cardiac arrest with those glasses on!

What movies were you watching in 2014?

I Lived | Best Of 2014

Yup, I’m using an OneRepublic song as my last post title of 2014. Jeez! How did we get here so fast? I still remember the last day of 2013 and sitting in the barn, watching my dad make bets with his buddies that he could beat them at cornhole. Of course, he lost because he kept getting cocky in both of the games. It just doesn’t seem like 2014 should be ending right now. I’ve had some pretty memorable years, both good and bad that I’d like to forget sometimes. I thought this year was the best though. Everything I’ve ever wanted for myself happened this year and that’s no joke! I know everybody is used to my big post of different flash fiction posts I’ve done throughout the year and it’s usually the only part of these “Best Of” posts but unfortunately I haven’t done very many of those and decided I’d do a big post of things I’m glad I got to accomplish and hopes for the new year.

At the start of the year, I made some very conscious decisions about how I wanted the first few months to go. I basically made some resolutions, but since I figured I’d break a few of them I only gave myself a couple of months to complete them and if I broke them, I did all over again. At least I was attempting to actually do something and keep at it. I’m not a real believer of love, but from the beginning of January to mid-March I was okay with it. I didn’t go looking for it and I was pretty content without having anybody as my Valentine. I’m like this during the other holidays too. This Christmas I was okay with being single and not looking for love. I felt proud, because I didn’t feel lousy about it all and loved my life being a single lady at that moment. I think that’s another reason why I was so happy this past year too. I wasn’t really thinking about things and driving myself crazy like I usually do. I just did it. Of course, I did have my days were my thoughts were going in overdrive, but I didn’t go into a dark hole. You continue to get better with it, the more you pray and be more optimistic about things not only you, but everybody around you as well!

Every year I know I complain a little more than I need to. I’ve been trying to keep things in perspective as much as possible. Let’s face it, things could be a lot worse! Besides living in the moment, I’ve been using this little blog as my launcher in a way. I’ve shared some very cool achievements this year, from the pop can to the trash can surprises, going to Plummer, seeing a real band live, met ONE and Bag Lady Sue. I got to do a blog post for Models Of Diversity earlier this year that was pretty cool! I mean there are just too many things to really list! I have been taking pictures more than I ever have with my little phone. I’ve gotten to love nature a little more. Bootsie had more kittens and my small hatred of cats in general has officially went away, now if only it can happen for the small dog category, I think we might be complete! I saw this year as a new beginning, which is what you should always see ahead in a year. I wasn’t always looking back and feeling bad about things I can’t change. When my sister and I decorated up the back of my bedroom door with different positive quotes. I think my thinking became even clearer for what I truly want in life and for my mind, body, and soul.

I’ve been more adventurous this year than anytime in my life. I’ve been secretly trying to break the barrier of insecurities, looking at my flaws and being perfectly okay with them. This has been a great year as far as not letting myself think of an ugly duckling. I accepted myself in my wheelchair. I’m starting to feel comfortable when people say I’m an inspiration, which I thought I’d ever see the day that would happen honestly. For years, I always the things I did with my feet weren’t even close to be worth admiring about, they were just things I used because I have nothing left. I also feel like I’m keeping my ego in check. She hasn’t run out of her cage in a while, so you all can be happy about that! Since I’ve gotten to be more adventurous this year, I’ve been able to speak with some pretty awesome people! I’ve been trying to push myself more in the blogging world, I didn’t know it was this big. We all have our flaws and crazy stories we want to share with the rest of the world too! And you thought it was just my crazy ass? Haha! There are far too many people to mention in this post to really say what I need to them and how much they mean to me. It’s nice to finally be accepted in a community for being myself.

Everybody’s been writing out their goals for 2015 and I’ve decided to keep mine kind of hush-hush for now. I’ve always been that way, keeping things a secret until the moment is finally there. I’ve got a couple of things I’ve like to do on here in the new year, one is doing my own verison of “Motivational Mondays” starting next week. They may be every other week, so they don’t become a chore on here. To finally end this, I’m ready for more adventures and keep up all the hard work I’ve done this year. I’m ready for anything. I know God has got some big plans for me, he always has! I’d like to complete more things off my bucket list.. the simple stuff and maybe some of the bigger things too! I want to go to more biker rallies. I want to meet more interesting people. And I’ll be blogging throughout the whole thing, at least I hope so. Thank you to everybody that has made this year extra special for me. When one door closes, another one opens…

Top 6 Best European Albums | Best Of 2014

It’s been a great year for music, but then again I think we say that every year! I always love going back through the list of albums that was released this year and count how many albums I’ve listened to, and this year I’ve listened to 34 albums! Which is a pretty good number for me! Of course that’s not counting any EPs or singles either. If I had done that we’d be here forever! I’ve decided to change up my “Best Of” posts a little bit. Since I’ve went back to doing reviews on my Tuesdays, I thought I’d do my favorites of this year on the last Tuesday of the year too.

If you know me pretty well, then you should know I’m a European music scene kind of girl. However, if you were to long on my list of albums I listened to this year, it wouldn’t look like it, but I am! I started off this year listening the American band, Of Mice & Men and I was basically in a whole screamo/metal frenzy for the first six months of the year and then by the end of July everything came crushing down when I watched One Direction: This Is Us movie with my sister. Who knew that would the start of the second half of 2014. For Christmas last year, our neighbors were nice and bought me three $10 iTunes cards in a pack worth $100 and somehow I managed to separate all three of them out by five months. I’ve got a reputation for spending a whole $100 iTunes card in two days. That was a good day! I didn’t necessarily buy any full albums with them, but I do get my favorite tracks and then decided to wait and see if I’d get them later.

There were quite a few European albums that kind of deserve to be on this list if I had made it longer. Like, Arch Enemy, Amanarthe, Delain, and Lacuna Coil. This year saw releases from Dutch bands Within Temptation and Epica. German band Xandria released their first album with new singer Dianne. Former singer of Nightwish, Anette Olzon released her first solo album, and of course the British boys Ed Sheeran and One Direction both came out with their albums by the end of the year too. It’s really difficult to say who would come in first place and be at the bottom. I’m just happy that I actually listened to all of them all the way through and kept listening to them. I do know I got more into Epica this year after discovering them last year, Within Temptation and Xandria are still the same on my music scale–right at the middle–I’m really proud of Anette Olzon and how far she’s come as a person and an artist too. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t in the mood for either Ed or 1D but after liking different singles of theirs, my denial slowly faded.

I am adding on to this, because I can’t forget five very powerful females that have changed my musical taste a bit. Just before the summer, I got into two of these ladies at the same time. British singer Laurel and American singer Zella Day were the start of the long road of discovering every shred of indie/singer-songwriter music I can find! I found Laurel on an episode of The Vampire Diaries, which they are pretty known of doing that to me from time to time. I found Zella on accident while looking up on the different playlists on Spotify. I heard things about the last singer, Banks in the middle of May but I don’t think she was “cool” enough at the time, and that makes me look like shit right now! She slowly made her way into my heart though after I kept hearing her song “Before I Met You” on a commercial for a TV show. Her music is so unique and gorgeous! After Banks, I got into the group London Grammar and they are awesome! Lastly, I got into another British singer by the name of Phildel. She actually follows me on Twitter too!

Spotify has been advertising that you can discover what was your most played song or stuff like that since December started, I looked up mine and it said that Lana Del Rey’s “Dark Paradise” was the most played of this year, which sounds about right. I think I listened to it and “Off To The Races” close to a hundred or more times. There are at least 3 albums I am very anxious to hearing next year, RED, Nightwish and Fireflight. All three will probably be out within the same week I’m taking a guess right now! So far that’s all I’m excited for as music goes, but I know there will be more discover and enjoy as the new year goes on!

What were you listening in 2014?

My Christmas Review

Hello! So it’s been three days since Christmas? Just three. Around certain holidays I’m more looking forward to seeing family and enjoying the laughter and happy faces, but something that I deeply hate is the aftermath of it all. I figured out that growing older makes holidays feel more like a chore. You can’t really enjoy yourself without knowing it’s going to end somehow, whether or not it ends on a good or bad note is even worse. Well, for me Christmas morning was the best. It was like how it’s always been. We celebrate it twice in one day, we get up at the butt crack of dawn and open presents in the living room. By 7am, we head over to my nana’s and eat breakfast by my dad, who makes Christmas morning breakfast every year. However, it differs in between years of which comes first: food or presents. This year we opened presents and then we ate like kings. Dad made ham, scrambled eggs, and potatoes. My nana made her annual cinnamon rolls too, but she got creative with the icing on top. She used the food coloring and we had decorated Christmas-y cinnamon rolls! I had one but my papaw ate like two!

I swear when we were sitting in the living room to open presents, there was like half in the living room and the others were in the kitchen talking their heads off. I think it took 20 minutes to get everybody in there at once. We tend to sit in the same places we sat at the years before. Kristi and Blondie got the piano bench and I got to sit on the floor, which has happened since the year before. I feel much shorter on the floor in that house than my own. People were walking everywhere. My Aunt Laurie brought their dog Mila with them and it was nice to be the same height as her. I got my doggy kisses for the day too! At my house, I’m usually the last one to open my presents but at my grandparent’s, it’s usually my papaw that’s last. It could either be from his fingers or the fact he’s like me and loves to watch everybody unwrap their stuff. Something that NEVER happens though was that I actually helped clean up after it was all over, both there and at our house. I love to clean!

Every year, after we get done with opening presents we head home and take a nap. Well, I knew after the night I had it wouldn’t be smart to take a nap and risk not getting any sleep that night. So while everybody took a five-hour nap, I stayed up and put new music on my iPod. My Uncle Dave and Aunt Katt got me both Ed Sheeran’s “x” and One Direction’s “Four” albums for Christmas, plus a $25 iTunes card. I got 22 songs on that card and I felt like I was in heaven! A few days before Christmas came, we all went to Wal-Mart and shopped around, my Uncle Dave got a new game hoping it would work well with us. He got Taboo. It wasn’t a big hit like Scatterogeries was at Thanksgiving. Thank god mom was smart enough to bring it along. So when we got back to my nana’s house. Everybody was well-rested and ready for the night of fun. My mom had gotten a fruit and veggie trays like always, but she also a meat and cheese platter too. That proved to be the smartest thing ever, but barely lasted two days with sixteen people.

One of our family friends, Brittany came over to the house and spent quite a lot of time with us. She brought us all scratch off tickets, which she didn’t have to do that! Nobody won anything, but nana! She won $10! Despite having all that food around us, my Uncle Dave who has earned the nickname “Pizzaman” for years had to get himself a pizza. So we ordered two different topping large pizzas. We ate those and you always hear of the saying, “pizza and beer” right? Well, I’ve got to say wine and pizza is pretty good too! My cousin Kristi and Aunt Katt brought back a bottle of homemade wine and Katt fixed all three of us a glass of wine. It was pomegranate wine. It actually wasn’t that bad, I still don’t like the burn as the liquid is going down my throat. I didn’t drink it all, drinking anything with alcohol makes me a bit weary, as if I don’t pay attention to what I’m doing I could guzzle it down. I was good and only took sips of until I started using my RC as a chaser. I didn’t get sick afterwards so that’s a good thing! When the pizza came and everybody had their slices, my uncle put three slices on top of each other on his plate and he and my mom proceed to take pictures of it. It looked like they were a pair of food bloggers!

Now to tell you what I got for Christmas! I got a lot of clothes! I wore two of my new shirts at my nana’s in the first two days of getting them. I knew what I was getting anyways, so I had been basically figuring out what kind of bottoms would work for each shirt. In the picture up top, that’s new. I got a plaid, button up shirt from American Eagle. I got a gray shirt that was als from there too, it’s actually a crop top, but since I’m so small we’re hoping it’ll be just another shirt on me. It’s gray and got black and white floral design with the words, “All you need is love” on it. On Friday, I wore a gray with green and pink floral design with the words and number “New York” and “73” on it and I think I got that from Charlotte Russe. The shirt I got my nana was too big on her. I can’t wear it because of my fingers–I’ve got a texture problem–so we have to take that back and pray they have another size of it for her! I got one pair of leggings and it was also from Charlotte Russe, they’re black with pink and blue floral design. I got my English flag shirt I found at Journey’s, a Captain America shirt (geek alert!) and a white shirt that says, “Music Is my life” both were from Hot Topic. Lastly, I got a tank top and button up shirt from the trip to Wal-Mart both black and covered in skulls!

I hope everybody has a great Christmas with their family and friends! Here are some pictures from the all of the fun!

My Aunt Laurie and Uncle Mike gave this little wooden tree to my nana, since she loves little trees around the house. It's got charms that mean different things with members of the family. Mike had made it for her.

The “Would You Rather” Christmas Tag

You can blame Little Miss Katy for this one. She posted this tag late last week. I thought it was cute, so I just thought I’d do something fun before all the fun comes tomorrow! I hope everybody has a wonderful Christmas with their families and/or friends. I’m hoping I won’t have a giantic headache like I did after being around my WHOLE family last year. This time around, we’re taking Advil early in the morning so I won’t have to worry about it. However, I think I’ll probably forget about it too. Who knows. Anyways, enjoy the tag!

Have to sing Jingle Bells loudly every time you walk into a room or wear a Santa Suit to work/school every day for a week?

Definitely Jingle Bells. Because if you think after a while, somebody will jump in and start singing it too!

Not celebrate Christmas this year or not celebrate your birthday this year?

Not celebrate my birthday. Considering it’s so close to Christmas anyways, I wouldn’t mind it really.

Have Frosty the Snowman for a friend or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer?

Frosty the Snowman. Even though I’d rather have Olaf instead. So Frosty, you’re old news!

Have Mistletoe hanging in your bedroom doorway, or have a large decorated Christmas Tree in your bedroom doorway?

Mistletoe. Even though I know that won’t attract very many people into my room.

Write a Five Paragraph Essay about the meaning of Christmas or solve a page of Christmas themed maths problems?

What in the world would a Christmas themed math problem look like? Or do I even want to know? The five paragraph essay would be easier for me to.

Have a job wrapping presents at the mall or have a job taking photographs of children sitting on Santa’s lap at the mall?

Taking pictures of the children. I’ll be the second coolest person there than besides Santa Claus. Might even give Mrs. Claus a run for her money!

See The Nut Cracker or dance in the Nut Cracker?

Oooh. I don’t know. I mean I’d like to see it, because I’ve never seen it before but then again I’d like to make my dancing debut too. It’s tough to choose!

Be given $100 for Christmas to spend on yourself or be given $1000 before Christmas to buy presents for other people?

Before. Even though honestly I’d use my $1000 on making homemade gifts for others, so it would be a win-win situation.

Have a nose that glows red like Rudolph’s or have pointy ears like an elf?

The pointy ears!! It’s an ole childhood wish. Don’t ask!
Be one of Santa’s Elves or be one of Santa’s Reindeer?

DIY: Holiday Project 2014

1507148_656115491164704_6226756379600682951_nIt’s been a while since I’ve done a DIY post. If you’ve been living under a rock lately, you’ve missed me talking about what my nana and I have conjured up for the end of year project. It’s strange how it all started with my dad and I and then somehow I managed to switch him with my nana. He kind of enjoyed doing the crafts the first year we did it, but he’s a very hands-on type of person. He also freaks out a bit if he sees me struggling in any way, and we end up arguing about it for like five minutes.I think he’s perfectly fine that I get my nana involved with these projects, I hardly make his head spin anymore! You all should feel bad for my nana though! Because if I’m in my thinking mood. All hell could break loose in a matter a few seconds. Sometimes it can get difficult for me to explain my thoughts out loud. I stumble on my words while I’m thinking about what else we could do. If there was a way for me to do everything and not have to ask for help I think I might actually get to do everything on my own, but I don’t think it would be that much fun!

This idea came completely organic and I decided on it in about a day or so. When I get really cool ideas, sometimes you just gotta act on them! Most of my family will be coming down for Christmas and I’m so excited, but with that it also means the amount of gifts doubled. I’ve been thinking about candles, I’ve got a slight obsession with them recently. When my mom told me we were going to the mall the other week, I thought “well I wonder were I can find something that was cheap, but for a good amount of people.” I went on both Bath & Body Works and Yankee Candle. They each had different kinds of sales, but since I don’t know much about lotion, body wash, and wax melts. Everything looked foreign to me. I’m not much of a girly girl. I had to keep in mind of some family members and their living arrangements. My mom explained what a wax melt was and she told that majority of everybody got Scentsy burners for Christmas last year. Our most common presents were blankets, socks and Scentsy burners. We are a weird bunch of people! So I decided to go with my original plan of getting candles, I went online and saw the prices of the tart wax melts and they were cheapest! So my mom and I went in there and got different scents: Cherries On Snow, Cherry Chutney, Merry Marshmallow, Lavender,  Vineyard. All were $1.99 each!

Things You Will Need:

  • Small Size Brown Paper Bags
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Scotch Tape
  • Holiday Colored Yarn
  • To and From Stickers

Since it was only the two of us. We kind of worked slow, but somehow we managed to get everything done in one day. Now that’s a Christmas miracle! She still had these brown paper bags from last Halloween/Thanksgiving or the one before that. I don’t remember but we never used them all so this entire project was inspired by that! We use small lunch brown paper bags as our packaging. If you’re read my last blog post about the cookies. You know that my nana and I made a LOT of cookies. She made the last two batches a couple of days after that. We have both sugar and chocolate chip cookies. We frosted and she put sprinkles on some of them as well! We decided on Tuesday that we’d just wrap a stack of cookies around in plastic wrap. My nana came up with the idea of after they’ve been wrapped in their little paper, that she’d put a small strip of tape around to secure it. And then added the new red yarn as a lively decoration to finish it!

That was her job to do! My job was getting each bag ready, placing a “to and from” sticker in the center of each one, and then I put whatever we selected for them in their bags. We actually did these for two different reasons. Instead of getting two presents (for each couple) we made them one gift bag. The men would get one thing and the women would get the other! Even though considering how many cookies we had left over, my dad might not eat the cookies that we stuffed in his bag! I originally had the idea of decorating each bag like we did on the mason jars last year, but I opt out of it because I love the plainness of a brown paper bag. If I could wrap my own presents, I’d only use this and a very sparkly blue colored wrapping paper! I know I’m weird. I really hope everybody has a great Christmas and hope my family enjoys their goody bags to take home! Next time my nana told me we’re getting to work on our holiday project in August! As much as I want to agree with her, I kind of like waiting til the last week. It gets my creative juices flowing!

The Christmas Cookie Monster Is Back!

On Tuesday, my nana and I tried to get two of our traditions off the ground.

I explained that my nana and I have been figuring out what we should do about our cookies. So I guess she couldn’t wait any longer, she messaged me on Twitter that morning and said she had fixed up one batch and we’d do the rest later. My parents had to go to Evansville, for some more Christmas shopping. When they got back my mom took me over and I stayed there for five hours. We didn’t exactly go right into fixing the rest of the cookies. I had to see her new laptop, figure out how to fix her phone but that never got fixed because even I don’t know how to do that and I did it a few months ago for mine. Anyways, after that I let her smell my candles I got over the weekend, and I “tried” to explain my thinking of how to do our gift bags for this year’s Christmas. I made out a list of couples and singles on paper to see who would get what. Surprisingly, everything that was crowding up my brain was unfolding and making me feel all better because I was getting it all on paper and explaining what we should do.

I’ll explain that a little bit later in the week. Complete with detailed instructions I promise. By the time I had finished with that stuff, my mom and sister were coming over to wrap presents. They know some of the details of the goodie bags, not much because I’d still like it to be a surprise to them. In the mist of figuring all this out though, my nana and I worked on probably six batches of cookies, I got to somewhat bake today. I got to arrange the cookies in the way that worked for her, don’t worry she washed my toes! After that, I admired them from a safe distance and watched them bake in the oven. My grandparents are so lucky to have that little window and light to see through and watch anything rise up as it cooks/bakes. I felt like a damn kid the whole day! Everytime the buzzer would go off, we’d switch baking sheets and put the new batch of freshly baked cookies into another pan to store for a bit so they could rest. We both realized today that I watch too many Food Network shows.

My mom thought that since it had rained the night before and throughout the time they were gone, that we should take the push wheelchair along instead, so I don’t track mud through the house. I understand the point of that, but considering how I’ve been able to move around without sliding out of the seat and being in the way of my papaw while he’s in his chair, plus the fact I could’ve actually used an actual table than a chair as my work station. I thought it was a bit stupid. I ended up getting through about it and with less pain than I thought I would come home with, so that’s okay. Everything seemed to want to work with me and thankfully my patience was intact. I think I have finally figured out how to do frosting on cookies. I’ve always had a hard time getting the frosting from tub to cookie. I asked my nana if I could have another spoon, I wanted to try another trick I learned from Giada, Ina, and Ree. She found an offset spatula, it was a small one too. So I used my right foot to take the excess off the spoon. I wish we had gotten a picture of it while my mom and sister were there. They saw me do it, so that’s good enough for me.

When we got home. The first thing my dad asked was where were the cookies. I think we made the mistake of making the cookies so early in the week before as now I’m worried that since they’ll be part of the bags that they’ll be stale. My nana mentioned she was making the last batch the day after, which I was hoping she’d wait until early this week in case those batches did taste a bit stale. Oh, and I changed my username on my Twitter for the holidays. Majority of my Twitter/blogger followers have added a Christmas theme to their names. Some have actually worked well for their names, but I knew nothing would work with my name. Until one suggested “Sugarplum.” So you can all call me “Meghan Sugarplum” for the time being. Okay, time for the pictures of the cookies! This is the part you all came for I’m sure!

This was something that took us three tries to get. At the last minute I had my nana take it for me because I was to far away to get a good picture of the cookies inside.

This was taken just because the last batch of cookies we made.

So when my nana went to cut into the wrapping, she didn’t know what it was until the last minute. She managed to stop herself twice in the middle of this. We ended up getting two or three chocolate chip cookies. I ate one of these by the way!
We used store bought icing, it was REALLY soft. Got it all over my toes! We used food coloring to decorate the cookies. A few pastels colors, totally not Christmas-y, but it's okay! We had about seven of these small plastic bowls of different colors, we had two different shades of green. Also, a peach and brightly yellow colors too!
