Top 5 Best Disney Sequels

Hello, I’ve decided to do another version of my favorite movies. Since the best franchises post was such a big hit with everybody, I got this next idea from one of my viewers and the comment she left on the post. I am a HUGE Disney fan, we all know this or at least we should know it by now. For those of you who didn’t know, well beware of the content of this post. How many Disney movies have you watched? I’ll count both animated and ones from Disney Channel. I think I’ve crossed the 35-40 mark. I don’t think it’s over 100 but who knows. Everybody has at least good or favorite Disney sequel, so what is yours?

1.) Halloweentown High

Yup, since I mentioned them on the franchises post, I shouldn’t have to list the movies on here, but Disney did create them. Halloweentown is one of my favorite original Disney Channel movie series of all-time. That’s saying a lot considering I grew up on a lot of Disney Channel and Nickelodeon when I was a kid. The first movie came out in early 90’s and the last one came out in 2006, I remember waiting all week long for the premiere of it and when I saw that they had replaced the actresses that played Marnie Piper, I was crushed! I had grown to love Kimberly J. Brown and seeing Sara Paxton in brown hair was a bad idea. She does not rock being a brunette! We saw less of Debbie Reynolds in that film as well, which was also another let down. My favorite sequel though is Halloweentown High. That was another premiere night that I remember staying up all night for and it was totally worth it. It was less freaky then Kalbar’s Revenge, that one was just too much for me to handle. Halloweentown High made me LOVE Halloween but I also started to think that I was one of the characters of the movies because of my disability. Now I can watch the movies with ease and joy!

2.) The Cheetah Girls: One World

In all honesty, I love all of the Cheetah Girls movies about the same, but I don’t think I would keep them in the same order. I loved One World the most out of the first two movies. I have been interested in flashbacks and movies going to different places and using it as a direction of the storyline. I think Cheetah Girls 2 was the right choice as far as destination, because as a lover to the first I thought Luc was from France, not Spain. The international music festival was a good choice to make and to make all of the girls go there. It wasn’t too cheesy and surprisingly I liked more characters in that movie than I did in the first, but the third movie, I was wondering when Raven would leave the group. At that time Adrienne, Sabrina, and Kiely all performed the songs live and came out with different singles throughout their time between the first and last films. I can safely say that One World gave me the want and need to visit India one day. I literally fell in love with India and Bollywood dancing during that one to two hour movie. I’m not going to lie, as much I missed Raven, I was happy that the other girls were amazing and I hope Disney Channel plays it again soon because I have the first two movies in my DVR but not this one.

3.) The Little Mermaid 2

Yup, this is going to surprise a lot of people. I was never a fan of the first Little Mermaid. Not the songs or the plot. I loved Sebastian and Founder but that was basically it. I wasn’t much into the whole myth of mermaids back then like most kids were, no that didn’t happen until I was in my twenties and I watched the Animal Planet special. Anyways, since I wasn’t that big of a fan of the first movie, you’d think I’d basically hate the second movie too right? Nope. I ended up loving it more than the first and I don’t understand why because it generally has the same plot, but it’s all backwards. I mean, Ariel wanted her feet and legs but yet her daughter wanted fins and breathe underwater, both were willing to do anything to get what they wanted even trusted evil sisters before the ending of the movie. I think another reason why I liked the second one so much was because I got to see Prince Eric again. I had a weird animated crush on him when I was a kid, sadly I have to say it never went away either.

4.) The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride

It’s another movie I liked better than the original. Now I’m not saying that I hated it like I did to the movie above, but if you were to have choose between the first and third movies, I’d say this movie. I thought it was adorable to give Simba and Nala a daughter, but like others before me have always wondered. What happened to the cub at the end of the first movie go to? If you’ve seen the second film you know that it starts out like the first Lion King movie. The song is different but it keeps the same theme throughout the beginning induction. I thought Kiara was a strong character as her own. If it wasn’t a love story and a real person, I’d use her as a role model. She was definitely different from cub Simba. She did not want to be a princess or a queen someday. Kovu was a very lost cause, she had your sympathy for him as a cub being used by his mother to get to Simba and ultimately losing that battle.

5.) Pocahontas II: Journey To A New World

Now I’ll be honest with you, I think the only reason why I love this movie so much is because I have a memory still stored in my head that contains this movie in someway. When I was little, my sister and I were addicted to Disney movies but when this movie came out on videotape (its weird saying that!) and I remember it was my birthday and my parent’s friends came over to the house and they had two older daughters, they gave me the movie as well, which was fine because if I remember right we used their tape than ours and I don’t remember why. We kept using it until our cat Oliver threw up all over it and our Spirit movie. It was a sad, sad day for my sister and I. I loved both movies so much and I still do. When I found out that majority of the plot between Pocahontus and John Rolfe was real and the stuff around it wasn’t, well most was, I was very surprised. I loved this movie but I missed Grandmother Willow a LOT in this one too, but the songs were still the best of the whole thing and that works well for me.
