I’ve always been into Lifetime, mostly because when I was growing up my mom and nana would watch their favorite shows on Lifetime, like The Golden Girls and The Nanny. They use to play them in the mornings and afternoons. Then the rest of the time they would play movies. When I was little I wasn’t big on watching the movies they’d play. Now that I’m older, sometimes if I can’t find anything else to watch and if the summary of the movie sounds good I’ll watch it.

Recently, I watched this movie called “Five.” It’s about five different women going through life living with breast cancer. Five mini stories, five different women directors. Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Alicia Keys, Penelope Spheeris, and Patty Jenkins were the five directors of each story. Jennifer Aniston directed the story of “Mia.” She had breast cancer for two years and expected to die. Her story started from now and went backwards, her story was probably the most hilarious! Patricia Clarkson plays Mia.

Demi Moore directed the story of “Charlotte” and was the opening story of the movie. This story starts of a mother dying of breast cancer and her young daughter Pearl being by her side. She drew a picture of her mother on the moon with two astronuats and told her mother “nobody gets sick on the moon” and Charlotte told her daughter that was where she was going. Ginnifer Goodwin potrays Charlotte. I actually missed the beginning of this story. I only got to watch the end of it.

Alicia Keys directed the story of “Lili” and she is a sophisicated, young black woman who doesn’t really want her mother to know she has breast cancer. When she goes to have lunch with her mother and older sister, her mother gets upset that Lili doesn’t want to go to her cousin’s party. Her mother makes a big scene and says something about having cancer because it would be used as an excuse. Her sister stops her and then indeeds says, Lili does have cancer, breast cancer. This was a very good story. I shouldn’t give everything away. Rosario Dawson plays Lili. Jenifer Lewis plays her mother, Maggie. Tracee Ellis Ross plays her sister, Alyssa.

Penelope Spheeris directed the story of “Cheyanne.” Cheyanne is a young, exotic dancer. Her husband, Tommy is a gambler. Tommy goes to watch his wife dance and when they come home. While he goes to undo her bra, he feels something on her right breast and then she felt it. They go to the doctor about it and she tells Cheyanne she has to have surgery on not just one breast but both of them. She worries about her how her husband would feel about her losing both of her breasts. She gets very worried and insecurtied about her body. It was a very good story. Lyndsy Fonseca plays Cheyanne and Taylor Kinney plays her husband, Tommy.

The last story was directed by Patty Jenkins. This story was about the daughter of the opening story of the movie. “Pearl” is about a young doctor that treats women who have breast cancer and sees what they go through with the cancer. Pearl is a mother and goes into looking for things her mother had. At the end of the movie Pearl and the other stories of women come together for their 5 years of survival and kiss a tile on the wall. Pearl was the doctor of Mia, Lili, and Cheyanne. Jeanne Tripplehorn potrays the story of Pearl.

The Fun Couple On DWTS Goes Home.

So it’s week five and unfortunately somebody had to go home last night and one of my favorite couples had to leave. I love everybody on the show, but Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya were the ones to get voted off last night. I really wanted Hope and Maks to go home. Last week I liked their performance this week however, sucked.

Carson and Anna were named, the entertaining couple. They didn’t really take the whole show as a competition, or so serious like everybody do. Every dance they were given was fun, and exciting! Most of their dances lacked tenchnique, words of Len. Carrie Ann and Bruno loved them because they were so much fun to watch.

I will miss them, but I know he’ll be sitting in the chairs watching everybody dance. Nobody will be able to replace him, because he was the only original, fun loving, crazy dancer on the show. Everybody will try but they will fail. I’m so glad he was on this season. Anna had two great guys in the last two seasons. She gets parted up with the sweetest men ever! They tried their best, and gave everything they got but in the end somebody has to go home.

Strange Birthday Present

So as I’ve said before, my birthday is just around the corner. I’m going to be 21 but I’m not going to be a “teen” anymore either. However I think I have finally figured out what I wanted to do. Not go out to eat, which I guess we could do afterwards. Not go to Walmart. Not go to the movies. I want to go to Barnes & Nobles and find my books that I have on my “book list” and hope to God they’re not too expensive. Which from what my mom just told me, I’m actually kind of screwed. So any money I get this year, well I got to take $15 for an iTunes card and the rest goes to Barnes & Nobles for some new books. I like how I want to go buy books when I already know I’m getting a Kindle for Christmas. That is just weird. I should just wait til December but I don’t know if I can wait that long for two of the books.

Top 10 Favorite Rock Songs… As Of Now.

I’m into rock music, not so much the classic rock. The whole 80’s music is just not my scene. I was also born in the 90’s so I got to represent the 90’s era to a T. Even though half of the music was run by teen pop, mainly Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and N*Sync. Which isn’t bad. Now I’m into rock music, and been into it since early 2009. Everybody thinks I’m hooked to Linkin Park, which is correct but got a few others that I am into right now that I think you guys would love to. Some are old and some are new.

  1. Red Sam – Flyleaf
  2. Under And Over It – Five Finger Death Punch
  3. Badass – Saliva
  4. Lies Of The Beautiful People – Sixx A.M.
  5. Bottoms Up – Nickelback
  6. Crawling Back To You – Daughtry
  7. Bitch Came Back – Theory Of A Deadman
  8. Cryin’ Like A Bitch – Godsmack
  9. Blow Me Away – Breaking Benjamin
  10. Extreme – Valora

I Don’t Remember The 90’s TV Shows Being So Dirty.

I’ve been watching a lot of reruns of 90’s daytime shows. Most of them either have been on for awhile or some have made their way back on my favorites list again. Take Friends for example. I’ve been a Friends fan for several years, and always love Jennifer Aniston and had a mini crush on Joey. However since Nick At Nite have been playing it now, I couldn’t believe the first I noticed this show was a bit dirty. Not as dirty as Mad About You. I’ve watched over 10 episodes in two weeks and I’m starting to remember ever embrassing question I asked my mom and uncle when I was little. That is really sad for me to realize.

I’ve been watching the reruns of Roseanne and The Nanny and noticed the remarks and plots of certain episodes, but it was like my mind didn’t click until I started watching the other two shows were they were based off of young couples– no offense! When the older couples would do sex remarks or anything it was like it was normal. They’re adults, they are allowed to do that sort of thing. Even though both of those shows were a family based shows too, they weren’t too awful with it either. All four shows were shown on cable network programs and had to be set a certain way or they couldn’t be played. Now nobody cares to be honest with you.
